>>: I DO AND GOOD AFTERNOON EVERYONE.

I DO HAVE A FEW IMPORTANT ITEMS I WANT TO SHARE WITH YOU TODAY.

AND OF COURSE, THE FIRST I WANTS TO MENTION WAS THE TRAGIC SHOOTING THAT RESULT IN THE INJURY OF ONE OF OUR DALLAS I AM RELIEVED TO SHARE THAT OUR OFFICER IS HOME AND RECOVERING ANYTIME THERE IS A LOSS OF LOSS OF LIFE IT IS TRAGIC.

WE WANT TO THANK THE ALL THE FOLKS THAT RESPONDED TO THIS INCIDENT.

INCLUDING OUR DALLAS COLLEGE OFFICERS WHO TURNS OUT IN GREAT NUMBER.

[00:05:04]

THE DALLAS DART POLICE DEPARTMENT.

DALLAS FIRE AND RESCUE, WE APPRECIATE THE ASSISTANCE DURING THIS UNFORTUNATE SITUATION.

WE CONTINUE TO GATHER THE FACT AND ARE IN CONTACT WITH THE DALLAS POLICE DEPARTMENT TO ASSIST IN ANYWAY WE CAN WITH THEIR ACTIVE INVESTIGATION OF THIS SITUATION.

LET ME MOVE ON IF I COULD.

AND IT IS JUST ALMOST NUMBING TO THINK THAT WE ARE IN THE NINTH MONTH OF HAVING WORK IN WHAT WE THOUGHT MAYBE A SHORT-TERM SITUATION.

AND WE CONTINUE TO CALL IT THE NEW NORMAL.

BECAUSE IT SEEMS TO GO ON AS A RESULT OF COVID19 PANDEMIC.

I DO REMAIN OPTIMISTIC OF STUDENT AND EMPLOYEES RETURNING TO OUR CAMPUS IN THE FUTURE.

BUT I HAVE TO BE MINDFUL OF THE COVID CASES.

AND REMAIN IN CONTACT WITH HEALTH OFFICIALS AND OTHERS AS WELL AS THOSE IN OUR HOSPITAL.

TO KIND OF GET A SENSE OF WHAT IS GOING ON WHAT WE CAN EXPECT.

AND CLEARLY THE NUMBERS DO NOT BODE WELL FOR US AS WE ARE APPROACHING A HOLIDAY SEASON.

WE KNOW THAT MANY OF US WILL BE SPENDING TIME WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

OTHERS WILL BE TRAVELING.

FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR EMPLOYEES AND STUDENTS WHICH IS OUR TOP PRIORITY.

I RECOMMENDED THAT WE WILL, AND INDICATED THAT WE WILL BE MOVING TO 100% REMOTE FOR DALLAS COLLEGE FROM MONDAY NOVEMBER 30TH THROUGH MONDAY JANUARYÂ 4TH.

BASICALLY, WHAT THAT MEANS, IS THAT WHEN WE BREAK FOR THANKSGIVING RATHER THAN RISK FOLKS THAT MAY HAVE TRAVELED OR ENGAGED WITH FAMILY COMING BACK INTO THE ENVIRONMENT WHETHER IT BE EMPLOYEES OR STUDENTS.

WE WILL DELAY THAT RETURN UNTIL AFTER THE FIRST OF THE YEAR.

THIS MEANS THAT WE WILL BE SERVING OUR STUDENTS AND WHAT WE WILL BE A TOTAL VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENT.

LIKE WE DID IN THE SPRING.

AND AS YOU HEARD EARLIER FROM DOCTOR JOSEPH OUR EFFORTS WORKING TOGETHER ACROSS THE COLLEGE.

TO ENSURE THAT WE ARE ABLE TO MEET THE NEEDS OF STUDENTS.

THAT THE IS OUR TOP PRIORITY.

AND WE ARE WORKING TO ENSURE THAT ALL OUR EMPLOYEE WILL HAVE ACCESS TO TECHNOLOGY.

WE ARE IMPLEMENTS NEW SYSTEMS NEW APPROACHED TO MAKE THE REALITY KNOWING THAT THIS IS REALLY WHAT WE FEEL IS THE BEST AND OPTION TO ENSURE THAT WE ARE ABLE TO MEET THE NEEDS OF STUDENTS.

THIS IS WHILE ALWAYS A TOUGH DECISION KNOWING WE HAVE STUDENTS THAT NEED THE FACETOFACE.

IT IS CRITICAL TO ENSURE HEALTH AND WELLNESS TO ENSURE COMING BACK IN THE SPRING.

AND TO HELP WITH OUR DALLAS COMMUNITY THAT IS STRUGGLING WITH THE NUMBER OF COVID CASES.

AND HELP DO OUR PART IN ADDRESSING THE NEEDS OF BOTH OUR STUDENTS OUR EMPLOYEES DURING THIS TIME OF THE PANDEMIC.

LET ME KIND OF MOVE ON AS WE CONTINUE WITH THE TRANSITION DALLAS COLLEGE.

AND WE CONTINUE TO IDENTIFY PEOPLE FOR KEY LEADERSHIP ROLES WITHIN THE COLLEGE AND IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING IT IS IMPORTANT TO SAY THAT WE HAVE THE RIGHT PEOPLE MAKING DECISIONS AT THIS TIME.

AND THIS ENVIRONMENT TO HELP OUR STUDENTS BE SUCCESSFUL AND NAVIGATE THE SYSTEM.

WE WILL DEAL WITH STUDENTS AND SERVICES IN A VIRTUAL MODE.

AFTER EXTENSIVE INTERVIEW PROCESS.

[8. Informative Reports ]

>>: I HAVE COMMENTS ON EIGHT I.

BEFORE THAT ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTED ON ANY OF THE INFORMATIVE REPORT.

>>: I WANT TO ASK ABOUT CAA LOCAL.

>>: WHICH SPECIFIC REPORT TRUSTEE ZIMMERMANN.

>>: CAA LOCAL.

>>: OKAY WE ARE ON ITEMÂ 8.

I AM NOT SEEING CAA LOCAL.

>>: CAA LOCAL IS ONE OF THE POLICY MATTERS.

>>: OH, OKAY.

WE HAVE APPROVED THAT.

MOVE FORWARD WITH YOUR QUESTION.

>>: IT IS NOT SO MUCH OF A QUESTION AS A COMMENT.

COLLEGE DISTRICT WE HAVE NOW DEFINED OUT OF EVERYTHING THAT WE DO.

IF WE LOOK AT POLICY CAA.

ON PAGE THE WAY I WAS LOOKING AT IT.

PAGEÂ 17 TALKS ABOUT COLLEGE DISTRICT THREE TIMES.

>>: THAT IS CORRECT.

LET CHANGE IN THE COLLEGE NAME WHICH WAS POLICY ITEM THAT GOT APPROVED TODAY.

[00:25:03]

ONCE THAT IS EFFECTIVE AND IT WILL BE CHANGED GLOBALLY IN THE POLICY MANUAL.

THEY COULD NOT MAKE THE CHANGE UNTIL WE APPROVED THE CHANGE.

>>: WELL THERE ARE BLUE DECISION OF COLLEGE DISTRICT.

AND BLACK DESTINATIONS OF COLLEGE DISTRICT.

>>: THAT IS CORRECT; WILL MAKE A GLOBAL CHANGE ONCE THIS ITEM IS SUBMITTED.

SO, IT WILL BE COLLEGE OPPOSED TO COLLEGE DISTINCT.

IT COULD NOT BE MADE UNTIL WE APPROVED THE COLLEGE NAME WHICH WAS DONE TODAY.

>>: I SAW IT IN BOTH THE PREVIOUS APPROVED AND ALSO IN THE BLUE WHICH I THOUGHT WAS GOING TO BE SOMETHING THAT WAS A CHANGE TO THE POLICY.

>>: THAT IS CORRECT.

IT WAS JUST FOR THESE DRAFTING THE POLICY.

BUT LIKE I SAID IT WILL BE CHANGED GLOBALLY.

>>: IN BOTH THE BLUE AND THE BLACK?

>>: YES.

>>: THANK YOU.

>>: YOU ARE WELCOME.

>>: THANK YOU, TRUSTEE ZIMMERMANN.

ANY OTHER QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS.

WE ARE ON THE INFORMATIVE REPORTS.

>>: SO, I HAVE SOME COMMENTS ABOUT EIGHT I.

HUMAN RESOURCES UPDATE.

IN TERM OF THE WORKFORCE DEMOGRAPHICS THERE IS STILL NOT MUCH MOVEMENT AS REGARD HISPANIC LATINO EMPLOYMENT.

WE DID RECEIVE AN UPDATE I BELIEVE IT WAS LAST BOARD MEETING.

ABOUT THE NEW HIRES IN THE NEW POSITIONS.

AND THAT REPORT DEMONSTRATED WE ARE STILL LAGGING IN TERMS OF EQUITY.

FOR HISPANIC, LATINO EMPLOYEES.

WE DO NOT MOVE THE NEEDLE SUFFICIENTLY.

WE HAVE PHIS ON EQUITY AND INCLUSION.

TO BORROW A TERM.

DIVERSITY WITHOUT EQUITY IS NOT INCLUSION.

WE ARE NOT THERE YET.

AND CHANCELLOR MAY I WOULD HOPE I KNOW AT YOUR LEVEL YOU ARE SENSITIVE TO THIS.

BUT I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE OTHER LEVEL OF AUTHORITY IS ATTENTION PLACED AT THIS MATTER.

WE ARE JUST NOT DOING JUSTICE TO A LARGE PART OF OUR STUDENT, TAXPAYER DEMOGRAPHIC ETC. ND THIS IS THE DRUM THAT I HAVE BEEN BEATING SINCE 1996 WHEN I FIRST CAME TO THE BOARD.

WHEN LIP SERVICE WAS GIVEN TO THIS ISSUE.

WE ARE NOW MORE SUBSTANTIVE BUT WE ARE STILL NOT THERE.

IT IS ALSO SOMETHING THAT I HEARD ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL.

WOULD HOPE THAT YOU ARE ENCOURAGING ALL THE PEOPLE WITHIN THE SYSTEM TO HIRE TO BE SENSITIVE TO THAT ISSUE.

AND ALL OTHER FACTORS ARE MOSTLY EQUAL THAT WE WORK TO REMEDY THE INEQUITY.

THOSE ARE MY QUESTIONS.

ANY OTHER QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS.

YES.

>>: NO, I WAS, THANKING FOR THE COMMENTS.

AND THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE.

AND WE LOOK AT ENSURING EQUITY ACROSS ALL GROUPS AND CERTAINLY AS WE DISCUSSED BEFORE THAT IS A PRIORITY OF THE BOARD.

THEREFORE, IT IS A PRIORITY OF MINE.

>>: BUT IT NEEDS TO BE A PRIORITY THROUGHOUT THE SYSTEM FOR THOSE WHO HAVE HIRING ABILITY.

I QUESTION IF IT IS A PRIORITY.

THE FIRST ROUND I THINK WE DID WELL.

THE SUBSEQUENT ROUNDS I HAVE CONCERNS.

[9. Executive Session (if required) ]

SO, IF THERE IS NOTHING FURTHER, ALL RIGHT.

WE WE WILL MOVING INTO EXECUTIVE SESSION.

FOR THE REASONS THAT ARE ALLOWED BYLAW.

CONSULTATION WITH YOUR LAWYER PERSONAL MATTER SAFETY AND SECURITY.

WE WILL MOVE INTO EXECUTIVE SESSION.

NOTHING ELSE WILL BE AFTER WE COME OUT.

THE ONLY THING THAT WE WILL DO IS TO ADJOURN THE BOARD MEETING.

BOARD MEETING YOU RECEIVED THE LINK FOR THE EXECUTIVE SESSION.

HAVE YOU ALL RECEIVED IT AND READY AT HAND BEFORE WE MOVE INTO THAT EXECUTIVE SESSION?

>>: YES.

>>: YES.

[00:30:01]

>>: ALL RIGHT.

NOT HEARING ANY COMMENT.

I IMAGINE YOU ALL HAVE THE LINK.

WE WILL MOVE INTO EXECUTIVE SESSION.

THANK YOU.

>>: THANK YOU.
