CHANCELLOR, YOU HAD SOME ANNOUNCEMENTS AND ANY BOARD MEMBERS HAVE ANNOUNCEMENTS THIS IS THE TIME TO DO THAT.

CHANCELLOR.

>> YES, HANG ON JUST ONE MOMENT.

I WAS THINKING I WOULD DO THAT LATER.

LET ME GO AHEAD AND PULL THAT UP.

IF YOU WOULD.

I'VE GOT THAT.

HERE, LET ME -- LET ME GO AHEAD, FIXED, AND JUST SHARE SOME WITH THE BOARD AND WITH THE AUDIENCE TODAY.

LET ME START WITH THANKING THE BOARD FOR JUST THE TIME THESE TWO DAYS TO HELP DIVIDE US AND MAKE SURE WE'RE HEADING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION WITH OUR BUDGETS.

THE DISCUSSION TODAY IS GOING TO BE CENTERED AROUND THE GREAT CHANGE AND TRANSITION AS WE UNIFY OUR STRATEGIES AND FUNCTION AS DALLAS COLLEGE.

I'M REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THE NEW LEADERSHIP TEAM WHO WILL LEAD THE COLLEGE AND I WILL BE INTRODUCING THEM TO YOU IN A FEW MINUTES AND THAT HE WILL BE ABLE TO SHARE A LITTLE BIT OF THEIR THOUGHTS ABOUT WHAT -- WHAT IS GOING ON NOW, AND THEN WHERE WE'RE HEADED INTO THE FUTURE.

ALSO WANT TO JUST SHARE A LITTLE BIT TODAY RELATED TO SOME OF THE SOCIAL ISSUES THAT WE'RE DEALING WITH BOTH AT THE LOCAL, STATE AND CERTAINLY FEDERAL LEVEL.

CHAIR FLORES WILL BE SHARING WITH THE BOARD A DRAFT STATEMENT IN SUPPORT OF DACA AND THE AFRICAN-AMERICAN COMMUNITY.

WE HAD TALKED ABOUT THIS AT OUR LAST MEETING AND OBVIOUSLY THESE ARE ON EVERYONE'S MIND TODAY AS IMPORTANT ISSUES BOTH AS WE DEAL WITH BOTH SOCIAL AND RACIAL JUSTICE IN AMERICA TODAY.

AND LET ME ALSO MENTION THAT ANOTHER IMPORTANT DECISION HANDED DOWN BY THE SUPREME COURT LAST WEEK THAT ALSO PROTECTS GAY AND LESBIAN AND TRANSGENDER EMPLOYEES FROM

[00:05:04]

BEING DISCIPLINED, FIRED OR TURNED DOWN FROM A JOB BASED ON THEIR ORIENTATION.

PROBLEM MILLIONS OF LGBTQ, AMERICANS WITH NEW RIGHTS IN THE WORKPLACE AND SIMILAR GUARANTEES OF EQUAL TREATMENT IN BUSINESS AND RELATED TO OUR MISSION, INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION.

TO DALLAS COLLEGE LGBTQ EMPLOYEES, WE CELEBRATE WITH YOU AND WE'RE COMMITTED TO SUPPORTING DIVERSITY INCLUSION AND BELONGING THROUGH NEW AND EXCITING EMPLOYEE ORGANIZATIONS SUCH AS EMPLOYEE RESOURCE GROUPS LINKED TO AFFILIATIONS ROLES RESPONSIBILITIES AND INTERESTS.

BOARD WILL BE REVIEWING OUR POLICIES AND PROCEDURES TO ENSURE THAT WE'RE FULLY ALIGNED WITH THIS RULING AND AS WE REMIND OURSELVES TO BE FULLY COMMITTED TO SUPPORTING DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION AND BELONGING IN ALL THAT WE DO WITHIN THE DISTRICT.

THE -- AS WE LOOK AT THIS TIME OF YEAR IS ALSO WHEN WE RECOGNIZE, AND I THINK JUSTIN, ARE WE GOING TO DO TO FACULTY NOW OR WAIT UNTIL 3:30 ON THAT? I'M SHOWING TWO DIFFERENT THINGS.

>> I BELIEVE WE WERE GOING TO GO AHEAD AND DO THAT NOW.

>> WE'RE GOING TO DO THAT NOW? OKAY.

GREAT.

GREAT.

WANTED TO BE CLEAR ON THAT BECAUSE IT'S ALWAYS AT THIS TIME OF YEAR THAT IN WHICH THE FACULTY ASSOCIATION ELECTS NEW LEADERS, AND OF COURSE NORMALLY WE DO THIS FACE-TO-FACE.

>> WE DO HAVE AND LOOKS LIKE THE ENTIRE FACULTY COUNCIL IS WITH US AND I'D LIKE TO WELCOME THE CURRENT FACULTY COUNCIL CHAIR CARLOS MARTINEZ FROM RICHARD COLLEGE WHO WILL INTRODUCE OUR NEW WET FACULTY CHAIR WHO WILL INTRODUCE THE REST.

WHEN YOU'RE INTRODUCED PLEASE UN-MUTE YOURSELF AND TELL US WHAT LOCATION YOU REPRESENT AND WHAT YOU TEACH AND HOW LONG YOU'VE BEEN WITH US.

REALLY NEED EVERYONE DOING THAT BECAUSE THE WAY THE WEB EX-WORKS IS THAT IT WILL HIGHLIGHT YOU WHEN YOU'RE SPEAKING AND MAKES THAT YOU'RE ON CAMERA DOING THAT TIME SO CARLOS, TURN THAT OVER TO YOU.

>> DR. MAY, GOOD MORNING, BOARD, I BELIEVE RYAN PETENGALE IS OUR NEW DISTRICT COUNCIL PRESIDENT.

SO I THINK PERHAPS MAYBE THE HONORS NIGHT GO TO HIM.

>> WELL, I THINK IF YOU WOULD JUST INTRODUCE RYAN.

RYAN IS OF COURSE, BEEN ON THE COUNCIL WITH YOU IF YOU WOULD CARLOS AND THEN WE'LL TURN IT OVER TO RYAN WHO WILL THEN TAKE IT FROM THERE.

>> THANK YOU.

I WANT TO INTRODUCE MY VERY GOOD FRIEND DR. RYAN PETENGALE, WHO RECENTLY IS A PUBLISHED AUTHOR OF AN OUTSTANDING BOOK.

AND SO RYAN I WILL TURN IT OVER TO YOU TO INTRODUCE THE 2021 FACULTIES COUNCIL.

>> THANK YOU, CARLOS.

ON BEHALF OF THE ENTIRE DCCFA I WANT TO SAY HOW EXCITED AND EAGER WE ARE TO WORK WITH THE MEMBERS OF THE BOARD TO CONTINUE TO PROVIDE EXCELLENT INSTRUCTION TO OUR STUDENTS.

AS CARLOS WAS SAYING, MY NAME IS RYAN AND I TEACH HISTORY AT MOUNTAIN VIEW COLLEGE.

I HAVE TAUGHT THERE SINCE 2009 SINCE THAT INSTITUTION WAS GOOD ENOUGH TO HIRE ME.

I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO INTRODUCE YOU TO THE REST OF THE COUNCIL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO GO IN ANY PARTICULAR ORDER, BUT GUYS WHEN YOU HEAR YOUR NAME, PLEASE SPEAK UP AND LET US KNOW WHAT -- WHAT YOU TEACH AND WHERE YOU TEACH IT.

LET'S START OUT WITH PROFESSOR WADE HYDE OF EL CENTRO.

>> I TEACH AT EL CENTRO.

I TEACH MARKETING.

I ALSO WORK IN THE ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAM THAT'S BRAND NEW, AND ALSO LIKE TO ADD I'VE BEEN TEACHING AT EL CENTRO SINCE 2001 AND I'D LIKE TO ADD THAT I'M A PROUD GRADUATE OF NORTH WAKE COLLEGE, SO I'VE BEEN AROUND THE DISTRICT FOR QUITE SOME TIME.

>> SPEAKING OF NORTH LAKE COLLEGE, LIKE TO INTRODUCE YOU TO PROFESSOR KEITH BAKER.

>> GOOD AFTERNOON TRUSTEES.

I AM THE FACULTY ASSOCIATION REPRESENTATIVE NORTH LAKE COLLEGE.

I'M IN MY 18TH YEAR OF TEACHING AT NORTH LAKE.

I TEACH MORTGAGE RANKINGS FINANCE ACCOUNTING AND REAL ESTATE.

>> LIKE TO TURN TO MY FELLOW HISTORIAN.

WE HAVE A FEW HISTORIANS ON THE COUNCIL THIS YEAR, BUT PROFESSOR MATT HINKLY.

[00:10:05]

>> GOOD AFTERNOON EVERYONE.

I TEACH HISTORY AT EASTFIELD COLLEGE WHERE I'VE BEEN SINCE 2010 PRESIDENT PRIOR TO THAT I WAS AT RICHMOND COLLEGE.

DURING THE LAST TWO YEARS I'VE BEEN OFF THE COUNCIL.

I COMPLETED SOME CERTIFICATES AT THE COLLEGE SO I'M DOUBLY A COMMUNICATE COLLEGE GRADUATES.

>> ANOTHER ONE OF OUR HISTORIANS.

>> HI.

MY NAME'S JENNIFER, I TEACH AT BRACK HAVEN COLLEGE.

I'VE BEEN HERE SINCE 2013 IN THE HISTORY DEPARTMENT.

I'VE ADJUNCTED AT BROOKHAVEN AND AT EASTFIELD, AND I AM ALSO THE FOOD PANTRY COORDINATOR.

>> DR. TOMMY THOMPSON.

>> GOOD AFTERNOON BOARD AND CHANCELLOR.

I EACH AT CEDAR VALLEY COLLEGE, AND MY TIME IN THE DISTRICT IS 41 YEARS AND I'M VICE PRESIDENT OF THE FACULTY COUNCIL, AND I TEACH MATH.

>> AND WE'VE ALREADY HEARD FROM PROFESSOR CARLOS MARTINEZ.

I JUST WANT TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO TELL CARLOS THAT I'M GRATEFUL FOR HIS LEADERSHIP OVER THE PAST YEAR.

AND I HOPE TO FOLLOW IN HIS FOOTSTEPS WHEN IT COMES TO LEADERSHIP IN THE FUTURE.

CARLOS, WOULD YOU LIKE TO TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WHAT YOU DOUGH DOO?

>> THANK YOU RYAN.

I TEACH COMPLICATION AT RICHLAND AND I'VE BEEN THERE SINCE 2007.

>> THANK YOU SO THAT THE 2020, 2021, DCCFA ELECTED OFFICERS.

WE APPRECIATE THIS TIME WITH YOU THIS AFTERNOON AND AGAIN WE LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING WITH YOU IN THE FUTURE.

>> THANK YOU.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

AND CARLOS, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SERVICE THIS PAST YEAR IT'S BEEN GREAT WORKING WITH YOU IN THE COUNCIL.

RYAN, WELCOME.

LOOKING FORWARD TO THE UPCOMING HERE.

AND THANKS TO EACH OF YOU ON THE COUNCIL FOR COMMITTING TO SERVE ON THE FACULTY COUNSEL.

CLEARLY AT THE END OF THE SPRING IS ANY INDICATION, IT'S GOING TO BE AN INTERESTING YEAR FOR ALL OF US AS WE DEAL WITH MEETING THE CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES THAT WE FACE.

CHAIR FLORES, THAT'S ALL FOR ME.

IF YOU HAVE ANY THOUGHTS.

>> CHAIR D FLORES: WELL, WELCOME TO THE NEW FACULTY ASSOCIATION PRESIDENTS THAT NOW MAKE UP THE FACULTY COUNCIL.

WE ALWAYS ARE APPRECIATE ACTIVE OF THE FORK THAT FACULTY DO TO HELP OUR STUDENTS.

AND AS YOU KNOW, WE ARE IN A TIME OF TRANSITION, GIVEN THE.

PRIORITIES.

SO I'M CURIOUS FACULTY COUNCIL PRESIDENT, IF I MAY CALL YOU RYAN.

IS THAT OKAY?

>> THAT'S PERFECTLY FINE.

>> CHAIR D FLORES: THANK YOU.

SO ONE OF THE FACULTY ASSOCIATIONS -- SO WHAT ARE THE FACULTY ASSOCIATION'S PRIORITIZE?

>> IT IS TO SERVE OUR STUDENTS, AND I SAY THAT I MEAN IT VERY BROADLY AS DR. MAY HAD POINTED OUT AND SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE AS WELL.

WE ARE IN OUGHT ONLY A TIME TRANSITION BUT I MIGHT SAY IT'S A TIME OUT OF UNCERTAINTY.

THERE ARE BOTH OPPORTUNITIES AS WELL AS CHALLENGES.

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT I NOTICED PERSONALLY IN MY LITTLE CORNER OF OUR COLLEGE IS THAT NOT ALL OF OUR STUDENTS HAVE THE NECESSARY EQUIPMENT TO COMPLETELY TRANSITION ON-LINE.

SO THAT HAS BEEN A CHALLENGE THAT BOTH PERSONALLY AND THROUGHOUT -- THROUGHOUT THE FACULTY NETWORK WE'RE WORKING TO TRY TO ADDRESS TO MAKE SURE THAT WE CAN CONTINUE TO OFFER THAT TYPE OF EXCELLENCE IN INSTRUCTION.

ASIDE FROM THAT, I FEEL LIKE I SPEAK ON BEHALF OF MY COLLEAGUES ON THE COUNCIL WHEN I SAY WE WOULD LIKE TO DO OUR PART TO MAKE THIS TRANSITION AS EFFECTIVE AND AS SMOOTH AS POSSIBLE.

AS FAR AS BECOMING ONE COLLEGE, CERTAINLY THERE'S A LOT OF QUESTIONS AND EVEN CONCERNS IN THE RANKS OF THE FACULTIES AND WE HOPE TO BE GOOD CONDUITS AND GOOD COMMUNICATORS WHEN IT COMES TO ARTICULATING THE OVERALL COLLECTIVE VISION THAT WE HAVE WITH THIS INSTITUTION AND HOW WE CAN PLAY A ROLL IN THAT.

IS THAT -- DOES THAT PROVIDE THE CLARITY THAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR, MADAM CHAIR?

[00:15:06]

>> CHAIR D FLORES: SOMEWHAT.

SO IT'S GOOD TO HEAR THAT Y'ALL ARE COMMITTED TO HELP US TRANSITION TO ONE COLLEGE EVEN THOUGH THERE'S STILL QUESTIONS AND CONCERNS, AND I KNOW FROM THE BOARD STANDPOINT WE'VE ASKED CHANCELLOR TO BE AS TRANSPARENT AS POSSIBLE AND PUT THE INFORMATION OUT THERE WITH ALL LEVELS OF OUR STAFF BECAUSE OFTENTIMES THE INFORMATION THAT THE BOARD RECEIVES IN THE PUBLIC MEETING DOESN'T FILTER DOWN TO THE LEVELS OF THE.

TELEPHONE TYPE OF INFORMATION ONE PERSON WILL HEAR IT ONE WAY AND COMMUNICATE IT ACCORDING TO THEIR FILTER ET CETERA.

SO THERE WAS A CONCERN I'M GOING TO SPEAK FOR MYSELF NOT THE WHOLE BOARD, WHEN I THINK IT WAS TWO YEARS AGO THE RESOLUTION PASSED BY THE FACULTY COUNCIL THAT PRETTY MUCH WANTED TO MAINTAIN THE STATUS QUO AT A TIME WHEN THE BOARD HAD DETERMINED THAT THE STATUS QUO WAS NO LONGER WORKING FOR US.

SO I'M GLAD TO HEAR THAT EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE THE FACULTY HAD QUESTIONS AND CONCERNS THAT YOU'RE ON BOARD WITH THE DALLAS COLLEGE FRAMEWORK AND STRUCTURE.

THAT IS CORRECT?

>> THAT'S CORRECT.

>> OKAY.

THANK YOU.

AND ALSO I APPRECIATE THE COMMENTS YOU SUBMITTED VIA E-MAIL SUPPORTING WHAT WAS STATED AT THE LAST BOARD MEETING RECORDING CIVILITY AND DIVERSITY.

AND IN TERMS OF DIVERSITY ANYONE WHO HAS BEEN INVOLVED WITH BOARD MEETINGS KNOW, SEVERAL OF US -- WELL, THIS IS A BOARD PRIORITY AND SPEAKING ALSO IN TERMS OF MY FOCUS, ONE OF MY MAIM FOCUSES SINCE I'VE GOTTEN ON THE BOARD AND IN TERMS OF THE FACULTY COUNCIL AND FACULTY IN GENERAL, WE JUST DON'T SEE THE DIVERSITY THAT WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE HOPEFULLY IN THIS NEW STRUCTURE AND THE WAY WE'RE GOING TO GO ABOUT HIRING ET CETERA WE CAN FINALLY REALIZE WHAT WE ALL WANT FOR OUR STUDENTS, WHICH IS A GOOD DIVERSE GROUP OF FACULTY IN ALL ASPECTS OF BEING IN THE CLASSROOM IN FRONT OF THEM.

I KNOW THE CHANCELLOR WE COMMENTED HIM DURING OUR SESSION WITH HIM IN TERMS OF FINALLY, FINALLY SHOWING THE DISTRICT'S COMMIT TO DIVERSITY AND INCLUDING IN TERMS OF THE NEW HIRES THAT WERE ANNOUNCED LAST WEEK.

TO US THAT'S VERY EXCITING.

WE SEEM TO HAVE TURNED A CORNER.

WE SEEM TO BE NOW IN A NEW PHASE WHERE WE'RE NOT JUST WALKING THE WALK.

THIS CHANCELLOR IS THE MAKING SURE -- WE'RE NOT JUST TALKING THE TALK.

THIS CHANCELLOR IS THE MAKING SURE THAT WE'RE ALSO WALKING THAT WALK.

AND THAT WAS EVIDENT BY THE NEW HIRES THAT WERE ANNOUNCED.

SO I KNOW THAT YOU PROBABLY KNOW THAT I RECEIVED MESSAGES FROM FACULTIES OF COLOR IN TERMS OF HOW THEY'VE BEEN TREATED OR HOW THEY FEEL THAT THEY HAVE BEEN I'LL USE THE WORD HARASSED BECAUSE OF CERTAIN POSITIONS THAT THEY TAKE, SO I WAS GLAD TO SEE IN THE COMMUNICATION YOU SENT THAT YOU DO NOT THE FACULTY COUNCIL DOES NOT SUPPORT THAT KIND OF COMMUNICATION.

ESPECIALLY WHEN IT OCCURS ON TAXPAYER SUPPORTED COMPUTERS AND TIME SO HOPEFULLY THAT'S A MESSAGE THAT WILL REALLY SINK IN TO ALL FACULTY THAT IT'S OKAY TO DISAGREE, BUT WE SHOULD NEVER GO INTO THE DISAGREEABLE WELL AND THAT BEING SAID, THE ADMINISTRATION WILL CONTINUE TO HAVE ITS COMMITMENT TO ACADEMIC FREEDOM BUT I'M CURIOUS IN TERMS OF FACULTY COUNCIL IT WILL BE HELPFUL ALWAYS WE'RE MAKING THIS MAJOR TRANSITION, AND AS WE'RE TRYING TO BE MINDFUL OF THE DIVERSITY OF THOUGHT, THE DIVERSITY OF DEMOGRAPHY SETS ET CETERA, ET CETERA, ET CETERA, IF THE FACULTY COUNSEL HAD TALKED ABOUT A COMMITMENT TO A CULTURE OF INCLUSIVE CLASSROOMS AND CURRICULUM, WHICH ARE DEVOID OF RACISM, WHERE THERE ARE REAL AUDITS OF CLASSROOM CLIMATE WITH CONSEQUENCES A COMMITMENT TO MEASURABLE STRATEGIES FOR INCREASING DIVERSITY IN THE RECRUITMENT, HIRING, AND RETENTION OF COLLEGE FACULTIES AND A COMMITMENT TO EQUITY AND STUDENT OUTCOMES BETWEEN STUDENTS OF COLOR AND WHITE STUDENTS DIFFUSE AGGRAVATED DATA AND EVIDENCE BASED MEASURES.

AND I KNOW THREE MAJOR THINGS OUT AT YOU.

IF YOU'RE OKAY, I'LL SEND THAT TO YOU VIA E-MAIL SO THAT IT GIVES YOU AND YOUR COLLEAGUES TIME TO PONDER THAT AND RESPOND IN TERMS OF A COMMITMENT CAN BE AND WHAT QUESTIONS AND CONCERNS MIGHT BE AS COMMUNICATED TO THE CHANCELLOR.

AND THEN I ALSO HAVE QUESTIONS REGARDING FACULTY SALARIES, BECAUSE I KNOW THAT THE BOARD NEEDS TO LOOK AT POLICIES IN THIS AREA ESPECIALLY GIVEN WHAT WAS -- WHAT CAME TO LIGHT FROM THE BCG REVIEW THAT THEY DID ON FACULTY LOAD.

[00:20:02]

SO I'M GOING TO SEND ON ME QUESTIONS TO HOPEFULLY BE ABLE TO DO PROVIDE US WITH TOMORROW.

BUT BASICALLY WHAT THAT IS, INFORMATION THAT I THINK WOULD BE HELPFUL FOR THE BOARD TO HAVE IS HOW MUCH DO THE TOP EARNING FIVE FACULTY MEMBERS RECEIVE BUT WITHOUT NAMES ATTACHED.

JUST THE SALARY AMOUNTS, HOW LONG THESE FACULTY HAVE BEEN IN THE DISTRICT THESE TOP FIVE FACULTY? WHAT IS THE ETHNIC AND RACIAL COMPOSITION OF OUR TOP PAID FACULTY, AND ASSUME WE PAY AT THE SALARY.

DO ANY OF THESE TOP EARNING FACULTY ON-LINE COURSES AND FOR COURSE LOAD ON-LINE, HOUSE THAT DETERMINED WHICH FACULTY CAN TEACH ON LINE.

BECAUSE THAT'S ANOTHER CONCERN THAT I HEAR FACULTY DON'T FEEL THEY HAVE AN EQUITABLE OPPORTUNITY TO TEACH EXTRA LOAD OR ON-LINE, WHICH CAN HE AUGMENT THEIR SALARIES.

AND THEN THESE TOP FIVE PAID FACULTY, HOW DOES THAT SALARY COMPARE TO VICE PRESIDENTS OR OTHER LEADERSHIP POSITIONS AND THEN WHAT'S THE AVERAGE FACULTY SALARY.

SO PLEASE RYAN, IF YOU COULD, ALSO HAVE THE FACULTY COUNCIL GIVEN THOUGHT TO WHAT THE ROLL OF THE FACULTY ASSOCIATION IS AND THEN IN SCHOOL OF STRUCTURE BECAUSE A QUESTION THAT COMES TO MIND IS, IS THE WAY THAT THE FACULTY COUNCIL IS STRUCTURED NOW IS THAT COMPATIBILITY WITH THE SCHOOL LAW AND IS THAT ALSO SOMETHING THAT WILL HAVE TO BE TAKEN A LOOK AT.

I KNOW THAT I'VE ASKED TWICE ALREADY, ONCE A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO AND ONCE A FEW MONDAYS AGO, WHAT IS THE RELATIONSHIP -- THE FORMAL RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE FACULTY ASSOCIATION AND THE DISTRICT? BECAUSE TO THIS POINT, I DON'T THINK WE HAVE ONE AND WE REALLY NEED TO GET TO THE POINT WHERE WE FORMALIZE, ESPECIALLY AS WE HAVE THE EMPLOYEE RESOURCE GROUPS FORMING.

WE NEED TO FORMALIZE THOSE RELATIONSHIPS SO EVERYONE UNDERSTANDS WHAT THE ASSOCIATIONS ARE THE ERGS ARE THERE FOR THE HOPE IS THEY'RE THERE TO ENHANCE AND ENRICH THE STUDENT AND SUPPORT THE DISTRICT IN HOW IT NEEDS TO MOVE FORWARD TO MAKE SURE THAT WE HAVE THE BENEFIT OUTCOMES, THE BEST PROGRAMS, THE BEST SERVICES FOR STUDENTS, NOT SOLELY ADVOCATE FOR WHAT WORKS BEST FOR INDIVIDUAL EMPLOYEE GROUPS.

BUT ALSO KEEP THE STUDENTS IN MIND.

SO BASED ON ALL OF THAT, WE LOOK FORWARD TO CONTINUING TO MOVE DOWN THIS ROAD OF IMPLEMENTING DALLAS COLLEGE AND TO HAVING FACULTY HIP US EVERY STEP OF THE WAY BECAUSE WE CANNOT DO IT WITH FACULTY JUST LIKE WE CAN'T DO IT WITH THE FRONT LINES THAT WORK THERE WITH STUDENTS BEFORE THEY EVER COME INTO THE CLASSROOM.

SO THANK YOU FOR PRESENTING THE NEW FACULTY COUNSEL WE'RE EXCITED AND WE MOVE FORWARD.

DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING TO SAY RYAN IN TERMS OF ANY STATEMENTS THAT I'VE MADE? OR DO YOU JUST WANT ME TO SEND YOU THOSE THREE QUESTIONS AND RESPOND THAT WAY?

>> WELL, I WILL SAY THIS.

A NUMBER OF THE TOPICS THAT YOU BROUGHT UP, WE HAVE HAD CONVERSATIONS THEY'RE RELATIVELY INFORMAL AT THIS POINT.

CERTAINLY WE VALUE INCLUSION AND DIVERSITY VERY, VERY BROADLY DEFINED.

IF YOU NOTICE WE COME FROM VERY DIFFERENT PARTS OF INSTRUCTIONAL SPECTRUM SOURCE WE'RE DIVERSE IN THAT CAPACITY.

WE ALSO AS YOU SAID, VALUE CIVILITY.

WE DON'T ALWAYS AGREE WITH THE DECISIONS BEING MADE AND THERE'S A WAY TO CONVEY THE MESSAGE.

AND I ESPECIALLY WANT TO UNDERSCORE YOUR POINT WHEN IT COMES TO THE STRUCTURE THE CURRENT STRUCTURE OF THE COUNCIL AND WHERE WE'RE GOING GIVEN THE TRANSITION OF THE SCHOOLS TO MODEL.

SO THERE ARE MANY OF THOSE TOPICS THAT YOU REFERENCED THAT WE ARE IN CURRENT CONVERSATIONS, NOT ONLY AMONGST OURSELVES, BUT WITH OUR RESPECTIVE CAMPUSES AS WELL, AND SOME OF THE OTHER TOPICS THAT YOU REFERENCE, THOSE ARE THINGS THAT WE WILL NEED TO TALK ABOUT IN THE FUTURE.

BUT I DO WELCOME YOU TO SEND THOSE TO ME.

WE MEET REGULARLY AND WE WOULD BE GLAD TO TAKE THOSE UP ONCE YOU GET THEM OVER TO ME.

>> CHAIR D FLORES: THANK YOU SO MUCH.

>> THANK YOU.

>> CHAIR D FLORES: OTHERS MIGHT HAVE SOME COMMENTS, AND WE ARE IN THE POINT, CHANCELLOR SINCE YOU WERE ANNOUNCING THE.

[00:25:01]

TO THE POINT WHERE THE TRUSTEES CAN MAKE ANY ANNOUNCEMENTS THEY HAVE?

>> NO, MADAM CHAIR.

I WILL FOLLOW UP WITH PEARL AFTER THIS THAT YOU MENTIONED QUITE A FEW THINGS AND I WANT TO MAKE SURE WE GOT THEM ALL AND WE'LL BE FOLLOWING UP WITH BOTH THE COUNCIL AND SOME OF THE INFORMATION YOU REQUESTED OF US AS WELL.

>> CHAIR D FLORES: THANK YOU.

DO ANY BOARD MEMBERS HAVE ANY ANNOUNCEMENTS?

>> MS. FLORES, IF I MIGHT, THE INFORMATION THAT YOU SEND TO MR. PET GILL IF YOU COULD SEND IT TO THE OTHER BOARD MEMBERS ALSO THAT WAY THIS BOARD WILL NOT WHAT YOUR COMMUNICATIONS WILL BE.

>> CHAIR D FLORES: I WILL DO THE AND THIS THEN MR. PETGILL SEND SENT ME ABOUT WHERE FACULTY COUNCIL STANDS ON CIVILITY, SO I WILL FORWARD THAT COMMUNICATION TO THE BOARD SO THAT YOU'RE INFORMED AS TO THAT COMMUNICATION.

>> I APPRECIATE IT THANK YOU.

>> CHAIR D FLORES: CERTAINLY ANY OTHER -- YES TRUSTEE RITTER.

>> FIRST OFF, I WANT TO CONGRATULATE RYAN AND THANK HIM FOR THE SERVICE AND ALSO THANK CARLOS FOR A PAST YEAR BECAUSE IT'S REALLY BEEN A PLEASURE TO GET TO KNOW HIM.

TO SEE MATT RENEW AGAIN, I THINK WEAVER GOT GREAT CONTINUITY SOME GREAT LEADERS.

SO THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU.

I'VE HEARD -- I FEEL AT A DISADVANTAGE HERE BECAUSE PARENTAL THERE'S BEEN COMMUNICATIONS GOING ON THAT I HAVEN'T BEEN PRIVY TOP I DON'T KNOW IF THERE WAS A LETTER THAT FROM THE FACULTY COUNCIL TO THE BOARD OR CHAIR OR THE CHANCELLOR, BUT

I HAVE NOT: >> I HAVEN'T SEEN ANYTHING AND I WOULD JUST ENCOURAGE RYAN IF YOU WANT TO YOU COMMUNICATE TO THE BOARDED, COMMUNICATE WITH ALL OF US, AND MADAM CHAIR IF THERE'S A LETTER THAT HAS BEEN SENT FROM THE FACULTY COUNCIL ON THESE MATTERS, I WOULD APPRECIATE IT BE SHARED WITH ALL OF US.

IN ADVANCE OF THE MEETING SO IT COULD INFORM OUR PREPARATION FOR DISCUSSION LIKE THIS.

>> CHAIR D FLORES: UNDERSTOOD MR. RITTER AND I APOLOGIZE THAT I DID NOT DO THAT PREVIOUSLY.

IT WAS SENT TO ME, IT'S A BRIEF STATEMENT.

MS. MOLINA, IF YOU WILL GIVE ME SHARING ABILITY I WILL DO THAT NOW SO YOU ARE HOT IN THE DARK AS TO COMMUNICATIONS THAT I'VE REFERENCED.

AM I ABLE TO SHARE?

>> YOU ARE NOW, MAXIMUM.

>> CHAIR D FLORES: OKAY.

IT'S STILL GRAY.

IT'S NOT BLACK.

OKAY.

I THINK I CAN NOW.

CAN YOU SEE THAT?

>> YES.

IF YOU'VE HAD TO TIME NO.

MATTER?

>> TRUSTEE FLORES, THIS IS WESLEY JAMESON, I WOULD LIKE TO PIGGYBACK ON WHAT WAS SAID AND ALL THE COMMUNICATIONS BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN THE FACULTY ASSOCIATION AND THE CHAIR OR THE BOARD, I KNOW ALL OF US WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THAT INFORMATION IS THAT WE ARE INFORMED AND KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THE STATUS OF THINGS ARE AT ANY GIVEN TIME AND YOUR QUESTIONS, GOOD QUESTIONS, OF THE PRESIDENT AND WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THE RESPONSES BACK TOO.

>> CHAIR D FLORES: VERY GOOD.

SO NOTED, AND THANK YOU TRUSTEE RITTER AND JAMESON FOR THAT INPUT.

I'LL MAKE SURE IF I GET A COMMUNICATION THAT I SHARE IT AT THE TIME AND RYAN, YOU'VE HEARD WHAT THE TRUSTEES HAVE TO SAY.

SHOULD YOU HAVE ANY COMMUNICATION PLEASE FEEL FREE TO -- WELL, TYPICALLY IT GOES I BELIEVE TYPICALLY OUR COMMUNICATION CHANNELS THROUGH THE CHANCELLOR AND MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT THERE YOU INFORM THE CHANCELLOR THIS COMMUNICATION WAS COMING; IS THAT CORRECT?

>> I ACTUALLY ASKED THE QUESTION TO DR. LONON AND HE SAID THAT HE COULD EITHER DELIVER IT FOR ME, OR I COULD SEND IT DIRECTLY TO YOU.

I SENT IT TO YOU NOT -- WELL, NOT AT ALL TO YOU KNOW JUST BE A ONE-ON-ONE SORT OF COMMUNICATION.

I DID SO BECAUSE THEY WERE YOUR COMMENTS BEFORE THAT BOARD MEETING THAT ARE REFERENCED IN THE -- IN THE E-MAIL AND WE MIGHT YOU TO KNOW THAT WE SUPPORT THAT POSITION WHICH HAPPENED TO BE YOURS.

BUT FROM NOW ON I WILL MAKE SURE THAT ANY COMMUNICATION FROM THE COUNCIL WILL GO THROUGH THE CHANCELLOR.

[00:30:02]

>> CHAIR D FLORES: THANK YOU SO MUCH.

AND THE CHANCELLOR KNOWS TO SEND IT TO ALL OF THE BOARD.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

AGAIN -- YES SOMEONE SPEAK UP?

>> NO THAT WAS JUST ME, MADAM CHAIR, AGREEING, WE'LL FOLLOW UP.

>> CHAIR D FLORES: THANK YOU SO MUCH.

THEN TO OTHER ITEMS OR ISSUES, DOES ANY BOARD MEMBER HAVE ANY QUESTIONS,

[B. Announcements from the Board Chair and/or Trustees]

COMMENTS, ANNOUNCEMENTS THEY WOULD LIKE TO MAKE AT THIS POINT? IF NOT, SO IT'S DIFFICULT WORKING ON ONE SCREEN AND YOU HAVE TO REFER TO DIFFERENT DOCUMENTS.

THE STATEMENTS OF SUPPORT BEFORE THAT I DO HAVE AN ANNOUNCEMENT.

SO I'VE BEEN HAVE CONSTITUENTS RECENT OUT TO ME ABOUT DALLAS COLLEGE, ABOUT THE ON-LINE TEACHING, IF THERE'S IN OPPORTUNITIES FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT HAVE A JOB RIGHT NOW.

THERE'S A LOT OF INFORMATION THAT THE PUBLIC NEEDS OUT THERE.

SO JUST LIKE WHEN WE HOLD MEETINGS ON CAMPUS IN TERMS OF THE CONSTITUENTS THAT I HAVE AND REALLY ANYONE THAT WANTS TO JOIN IN, I'M GOING TO START DOING SOME VIRTUAL MEETINGS FOR CONSTITUENTS.

OTHERS OF YOU MIGHT WANT TO DO THE SAME THING.

WE DO HAVE THIS TOOL BEFORE US INSTEAD OF A MEETING ROOM AT ONE OF THE CAMPUSES, WE HAVE THE VIRTUAL MEETING ABILITY.

SO HOPEFULLY SOME OF YOU WILL ALSO WANT TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THAT.

JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW THAT I'LL BE DOING THAT MOVING FORWARD TO ADDRESS SOME OF THE ISSUES THAT TEMPERATURES ARE BRINGING BEFORE ME AND THAT REALLY NEEDS BROUGHT BROAD RESPONSE NOT JUST TO THE ONE PERSON.

BECAUSE THIS IS INFORMATION THAT PEOPLE WANT AND NEED.

ALL RIGHT.

WITH THAT WE MOVER TO THE STATEMENTS OF SUPPORT.

MS. MOLINA CAN YOU PLEASE PULL THAT UP ON THE SCREEN? SO LAST MEETING MS. BRAVO ASKED IF WE COULD DO A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF DACA.

UNFORTUNATELY THE OPINION THAT CAME OUT FROM THE SUPREME COURT WAS NOT WHAT WE EXPECTED.

THEY WILL NOT MOVE FORWARD ON DISMANTLING DACA, SO IT STAYS IN PLACE FOR THE TIME.

WE'RE SUGGESTING TO THE BOARD INSTEAD OF A RESOLUTION WE DO A STATEMENT OF SUPPORT BECAUSE IN A RESOLUTION, WE WOULD NEED TO BE IN A FULL BOARD MEETING TO APPROVE THE RESOLUTION AND WE FELT THAT THE TIME IS NOW TO ISSUE NOW SOMETIMES NOT ONLY AS TO DACA BUT AS TO THE OTHER ISSUES OUT THERE PRECIPITATED BY THE DEATH OF MR. FLOYD.

SO WE WOULD LIKE TO NOTE THERE'S A CONSENSUS OF THE BOARD ON THESE TWO STATEMENTS AND IF THERE IS, IF THERE'S ANY SUGGESTED CREDITS, MS. MOLINA DID SEND THEM TO YOU THIS MORNING.

PULL THIS UP ON THE SCREEN.

>> YES, MA'AM.

>> WHO I WILL SHE'S DOING THERE CHANCELLOR, WHAT ARE THE LOGISTICS OF THIS TOMORROW THEY WOULD BE READ INTO THE RECORD IF THERE'S A CONSENSUS TO MOVE FORWARD WITH THESE STATEMENTS THEY WOULD BE READ INTO THE RECORD.

WHAT ARE THE LOGISTICS OF HOW WE MAKE THESE STATEMENTS OFFICIAL.

>> YES, ACTUALLY, WE'RE PREPARED TO ACT ON THEM TODAY.

SO WITH THAT, SO HANG ON HERE JUST A SECOND HERE.

SO WHAT WE WOULD NEED TO DO IS TO LEAVE THESE IN FOR CONSIDERATION BY THE BOARD, AND CAN YOU PULL THAT UP?

>> I THINK, MR. CHANCELLOR, EITHER DAY THEY COULD BE READ INTO THE MINUTES OF THE

-- >> OKAY.

>> THE MEETING THE WORK SESSION OR THE FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING.

SO THEY WOULD JUST BE ON THE RECORD.

>> OKAY.

VERY GOOD.

THAT WOULD BE GREAT.

>> CHAIR D FLORES: WOULD BOARD MEMBERS PREFER TO PONDER THIS OVERNIGHT AND THEM COME TO CONSENSUS OR NOT TOMORROW.

>> AT LEAST THIS WAY YOU'VE HAD SOME TIME TO REFLECT ON THESE AND DETERMINE IF YOU WISH TO COME TO CONSENSUS OR NOT WILL YOU RITTER I SEE I INDICATING YES FOUR TOMORROW.

>> YEAH, EXCUSE ME.

IF THERE WAS JUST SENT TO US TOOT DOES THAT HAVE THE 72 HOUR NOTICE FOR IT TO BE ON OUR AGENDA.

[00:35:01]

>> CHAIR D FLORES: WE HAVE STATEMENTS OF SUPPORT ON THE AGENDA.

>> SINCE IT'S NOTHING THAT NEEDS TO BE APPROVED, IT'S NOT ACTUALLY.

COMMENT WHICH CHANCELLOR WRAP-UP BUT THAT'S WHY IT'S NOT AN ACTUAL AGENDA ITEM.

IT'S NOT ITEM UP FOR APPROVAL, PER SE.

>> CHAIR D FLORES: AND ALSO IT WOULD BE BY CONSENSUS NOT BY INFORMAL VOTE.

>> JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE WE'RE DON'T GET INTO TROUBLE.

>> CHAIR D FLORES: THANK YOU MS. ZIMMERMANN FOR KEEPING US STRAIGHT APPRECIATE THAT ALL RIGHT.

SO TOMORROW WE WILL CONSIDER THESE.

NOW THEY WILL HAVE TO BE READ INTO THE MINUTES; IS THAT CORRECT.

>> YES, MA'AM MADAM CHAIR AND WEAVER LOOTED TIME AT THE END OF DAY TOMORROW AFTER THE FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING.

>> OKAY.

WELL THEN I WOULD HATE AND SIT AND TO LISTEN JUST ONE PERSON TALKING IT'S BAD ENOUGH ON THE CERTIFICATION PASSED MEETING TO GO THROUGH REALISTIC TO JUST ONE PERSON ARE THERE ANY TRUSTEES WHO WANT TO VOLUNTEER TO READ THE DACA ONE AND THEN READ ANOTHER ONE, READ THE RACIAL JUSTICE -- INJUSTICE INEQUITY IN AMERICAN STATEMENT THE.

>> I VOLUNTEER TO DO THE DACA STATEMENT.

>> I VOLUNTEER TO DO THE RACIAL INJUSTICE STATEMENT.

>> CHAIR D FLORES: OKAY.

VERY GOOD.

SO THEN TOMORROW WE HAVE THAT SET UP SO THAT WE HAVE TWO TRUSTEES THAT ARE VOLUNTEERING.

THEN IF YOU DON'T MIND TREATING INTRODUCTORY STATEMENT AS WELL.

THANK YOU.

ALL RIGHT.

WITH THAT, AGAIN, ONE LAST OPPORTUNITY, DOES ANYONE -- DOES ANY OTHER TRUSTEE HAVE ANY COMMENTS TO MAKE? AND I FOR THESE ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT -- SO MY APOLOGIES.

WE HAVE THE NEW LEADERSHIP TEAM ON THE MEETING; IS THAT CORRECT?

>> THAT'S CORRECT MADAM CHAIR.

WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO DO IS INTRODUCE THAT TEAM TO YOU.

I'M GOING TO HAVE THEM MAKE SOME COMMENTS WE'LL KIND OF WALK THROUGH AN AGENDA HERE TODAY AS WE.

KIND OF DISCUSS THE LEADERSHIP TEAM.

THEIR ROLES.

I'M GOING TO ASK THE SAME THING OF THEM THAT AS THEY'RE INTRODUCED, EACH OF THEM SPEAK, AND IN SOME FASHION SO THE CAMERA WILL COME TO THEM.

SO THE BOARD CAN SEE WHO IS SPEAKING AND I CAN GET A SENSE OF THAT I THINK WHAT WE'LL DO IS KIND OF START THIS OFF BY TAKING A LOOK WORKING THROUGH.

WE DO HAVE A PRESENTATION WITH SOME SLIDES THAT WE WILL WANT TO WORK THROUGH AS WE PUT THIS UP FOR THE BOARD.

AND PERLA, WE'LL KIND OF JUST NEED TO GO BACK AND FORTH A LITTLE BIT JUST TO MAKE SURE AND SHOULD BE ABLE TO STILL SEE THE PERSON SPEAKING IF YOU'VE GOT YOUR SYSTEM SET UP THERE CORRECTLY TO THAT.

YES, CHAIR FLORES.

>> CHAIR D FLORES: CLARIFICATION SO EACH ONE WILL BE INTRODUCED INDIVIDUALLY AND THEN TO INTRODUCE THEMSELVES, SAY SOMETHING ABOUT THEMSELVES IN THEIR NEW ROLL?

>> THAT'S CORRECT YES I'LL GO WITH THAT.

>> CHAIR D FLORES: OKAY.

GREAT.

I WASN'T SURE THAT WAS BEING PLANNED, BUT I JUST WANTED TO WELCOME EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM I WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW THAT WE ARE VERY PROUD OF YOU, THAT YOU ROSE FROM THE LINCOLN'S RANKS TO TAKE ON THIS LEADERSHIP ROLL AND THAT SPEAKS AND IS TESTAMENT TO YOUR HARD WORK, YOUR ABILITIES, YOUR QUALIFICATIONS YOUR DEDICATION YOUR COMMITMENT ET CETERA, ET CETERA, TO STUDENTS FIRST OF ALL.

TO STUDENTS.

AND THEN TO THIS DISTRICT.

THANK YOU FOR WHO YOU ARE FOR CHOOSING BE THE WITH US AND FOR SERVING DALLAS COLLEGE STUDENTS.

THANK YOU.

>> AT THIS POINT -- I'M SORRY.

I'M ASKING OUR I.T.

PERSON TO GO AHEAD AND TAKE CONTROL OF THE PRESENTER ROLL TO GO AHEAD AND SHARE THAT POWERPOINT, DR. MAY.

>> OKAY.

VERY GOOD.

THANK YOU.

[5. Dallas College: A Unified Strategy Facilitator: Justin Lonon]

AND WHAT I WANTED TO DO TODAY, BOARD, IS REALLY TAKE A GOOD PIECE OF OUR TIME TODAY TO SHARE WITH YOU THE NEW ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE.

[00:40:02]

I HAVE SOME COMMENTS FROM OUR LEADERSHIP IN THESE AREAS, AND KIND OF GIVE A SENSE OF HOW THIS IS COMING TOGETHER.

IF WE COULD GO AHEAD AND TO THE NEXT SLIDE, PLEASE.

ALL OF YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN THIS ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION.

WHAT IS NEW NOW WITH THE ANNOUNCEMENT LAST WEEK OF THE APPOINTMENTS FOR THE PROVOST, THE VICE CHANCELLOR AS WELL AS THE VICE PROVOST ARE NOW IN THEIR WITH THEIR NAMES, AND THE INDIVIDUALS THAT ARE FILLING THOUGH ROLES.

AND SO WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO DO AS WE LOOK AT BUILDING OUT THE STRUCTURE FOR DALLAS COLLEGE.

THIS IS A BASIC ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE WITH THE GREEN REPRESENTING THE ACADEMIC LEADERSHIP OF THE COLLEGE DALLAS COLLEGE.

THE KIND OF THE AQUA OR COLOR BLUE BLUISH COLOR REPRESENTING OUR STUDENT SUPPORT AND STUDENT SUCCESS AREA UNDER LEADERSHIP OF BEATRICE JOSEPH.

THE KIND OF THE MAROON OR PURPLE COLORED AREA DEPENDING ON PAPER OR SCREEN, IS UNDER PIPER WILKINS WHO IS THE VICE CHANCELLOR OF WORKFORCE AND ADVANCEMENT IN THAT AREA.

AND THEN THE DARK BLUE WITH JUST.

PRESIDENTS BEING IN THE YELLOW AND THEN CHIEF OF STAFF IN GREEN TO THE RIGHT.

SO THAT'S THE STRUCTURE, AND LET'S GO AHEAD AND JUSTIN WHAT I'M GOING TO ASK YOU TO DO IS IF YOU WOULD KIND OF START THEM WITH THE NEXT ONE WE'LL INTRODUCE THE PROVOST BUT ALSO LINDA BRATTY AS THE INTERIM AND HAVE THE TWO OF THEM MAKE COMMENTS SO WE NEED TO ADVANCE ONE SLIDE HERE.

JUSTIN YOU WANT TO COMMENT ON THAT.

BACK ONE PLEASE.

>> ACTUALLY, YOU KNOW WE'RE VERY EXCITED ABOUT THE LEADERSHIP TEAM.

WE THINK THAT WE'VE GOT A GREAT GROUP OF PEOPLE TO HELP LEAD DALLAS COLLEGE IN THIS MODE, AND SO AS WAS INDICATED, WE HAVE FILLED THE A NUMBER OF THESE POSITIONS ON THE ACADEMIC SIDE THE ONES THAT ARE KIND OF THE LIGHT GREEN WITH BLACK TEXT ARE ONES THAT WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO LOOK FOR SOMEONE TO LEAD IN THOSE AREAS.

SO THOSE WILL BE ADDITIONAL SEARCHES MOVING FORWARD.

BUT CERTAINLY ESPECIALLY DURING THIS COVID TIME WHEN WE MOVE VERY QUICKLY TO ASK LINDA NOT ONLY SERVE AS PRESIDENT OF BROOKHAVEN BUT ALSO SERVE AS THE INTERIM PROVOST.

AND NOW TO BE ABLE TO HAND OFF TO SHANDA FLOYD TO SERVE AS OUR FIRST PROVOST OF DALLAS COLLEGE.

SO IN JUST A MINUTE, WE WILL ASK EACH ONE OF THEM TO SHARE A LITTLE BIT OF THEIR SENSE OF WHAT THIS ROLL CAN LOOK LIKE AND WE'RE GOING TO DO THE SAME THING WITH THE VICE CHANCELLORS BUT FIXED ADJUSTMENT ASK QUICKLY IF WE COULD GO TO SLIDE 5 I BELIEVE IT IS JUST TO MOVE AHEAD.

ONE MORE SLIDE LAY THE GROUND WORK AFTER RECEIVING THE NEWS THAT WE ARE NOW DALLAS COLLEGE, THIS IS A LITTLE BIT OF A ROAD MAP.

WE WANTED TO SHOW THE BOARD A LITTLE BIT OF WHAT'S AHEAD CERTAINLY A LOT TO BE EXCITED ABOUT UNIFYING INTO ONE COLLEGE.

A LOT TO BE EXCITED ABOUT TO BE ABLE TO OFFER A BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND SO THE OFFICIAL START DATE ON PAPER IS JULY 3RD SO JUST RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER, BUT OBVIOUSLY WE'VE STARTED REFERRING TO OURSELVES AS DALLAS COLLEGE SINCE WE'VE GOTTEN A THUMBS UP AND THEN AS YOU'LL SEE OVER THE COMING MONTHS THERE'S A LOT TO DO TO UNIFY ALL THIS SO WE ARE PREPARED WITH ME SACS DOES A SITE VISIT AND TENTATIVELY HAS BEEN SET FOR EARLY FEBRUARY.

SO THAT GIVES IT YOU SAY SOME TIME TO BEGIN TO PULL THESE THINGS TOGETHER AND AS WE REFERENCE WITH THE INSTRUCTIONAL SIDERS THERE'S A GREAT DEAL TO PULL TOGETHER TO THREAD THE ACADEMIC PROGRAMS TOGETHER TREASURY AND THEN AS YOU SEE

[00:45:09]

THE SITE TEAM WILL TREASURY REPORT BACK TO SACS COC BOARD AND THEN OUR REAFFIRMATION WILL COME IN 2025 AND THEN THE LEVEL CHANGE IS THE SPRING 22 WHERE THERE WILL BE SOME ADDITIONAL REVIEW.

BUT THAT'S KIND OF THE NEXT STEPS WITH THE FORMAL PART OF SACS SO WE JUST KIND OF WANT YOU TO HAVE THAT LAY OF LAND AS WE BEGIN TO THREAD ALL THIS TOGETHER.

SO NOW LET'S GO BACK JUST ONE SLIDE TO WHAT WE NEED TO DO TO ALIGN THE ACADEMIC PROGRAMS, AND I'LL JUST TELL YOU EACH OF THESE LEADERS THAT YOU'RE GOING TO HEAR FROM AND EACH OF THESE AREAS, ACADEMIC STUDENT SUCCESS, THE OPERATIONS AREA AND TEAM, ANY ONE OF THE THESE THINGS WE'RE TALKING ABOUT, QUITE FRANKLY, COULD BE A STAND ALONE PRESENTATION THEMSELVES.

SO WE'LL BE COMING BACK TO THE BOARD IN COMMITTEE STRUCTURE TO HIGHLIGHT SOME OF THESE THINGS IN GREATER DETAIL.

BUT WHAT WE WANT TO DO THIS AFTERNOON IS JUST KIND OF HIT THE HIGHLIGHTS.

SO WITH THAT, MR. CHANCELLOR WE'LL TURN IT BACK OVER TO DR. BRATTY, AND TO DR. FLOYD TO SHARE A LITTLE BIT OF THEIR PERSPECTIVE OF WHAT DALLAS COLLEGE LOOKS LIKE FROM THE ACADEMIC STANDPOINT.

>> THAT SOUNDS GREAT.

LINDA, WHY DON'T YOU KICK US OFF?

>> THANK YOU DR. MAY.

FIRST I'D LIKE TO EXPRESS MY APPRECIATION FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE AS INTERIM PROVOST.

OVER THE LAST THREE MONTHS.

IT'S BEEN A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE SO I'M REALLY EXCITED TO SEE WHERE WE GO WITH THIS MOVING FORWARD.

SO AS YOU KNOW, BECAUSE WE'RE NOW COLLABORATING ACROSS THE ENTIRE DISTRICT, WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH A LOT MORE THAN WE MIGHT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO IN THE PAST AND AT A MUCH FASTER PACE WHICH WAS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY DURING THIS CRISIS WHEN THINGS WERE CHANGING SO QUICKLY EVERY DAY, BUT IT'S GOING TO REMAIN IMPORTANT AS WE TRANSITION TO THE REST OF OUR ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE TO A ONE COLLEGE MODEL.

THE COLLABORATION HAAS HAS BEEN AMAZING.

I'VE BEEN WORKING WITH ON A DAILY BASIS WITH THE STUDENT ACADEMIC SUCCESS TASK FORCE AS WELL AS ACADEMIC VICE PRESIDENT.

AND WE MADE A LOT OF PROGRESS TOWARD UNIFIED PROCESSES AND POLICY IMPLEMENTATION.

THAT'S BEEN ONE OF YOUR PRIMARY GOALS.

SO THE BEST OUTCOME OF ALL IS THE EQUITY IS THAT WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO ACHIEVE ALREADY FOR OUR STUDENTS AND OUR EMPLOYEES.

SO IT'S BECAUSE WE'RE NOW MAKING CONSISTENT DISTINCTIONS ABOUT ISSUES THAT DIRECTLY IMPACT OUR STUDENTS AND OUR EMPLOYEES AND SO IT INSURES THAT NO ONE THE DISADVANTAGED AS COMPARED TO THEIR PEERS.

SO AS YOU KNOW, DR. FLOYD WILL BE TAKING OVER PROVOST ON JULY 1ST.

AND I'LL EXCITED TO SEE WHERE THINGS GO FROM THERE.

WE WORKED HARD TO ESTABLISH A STRONG FOUNDATION IN THESE FIRST THREE MONTHS AND DOCTOR FLOYD IS GOING TO DO AN AMAZING JOB LEADING DALLAS COLLEGE ACADEMIC ENTERPRISE INTO THE FUTURE.

SO DR. FLOYD, YOU HAVE SOME ADDITIONAL INFORMATION TO SHARE.

>> YES, I WOULD JUST LIKE TO FIRST OFF IS ALL CHAIR FLORES THE TRUSTEES AND TO CHANCELLOR MAY I'M REALLY GRATEFUL FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY AND THANKFUL FOR THE APPOINTMENT, AND REALLY THANKFUL FOR THE FORETHOUGHT THAT WE HAVE IN THE LEADERSHIP.

IT'S REALLY BEEN EASY AND SEAM SEAMLESS WORKING WITH DR. BRATTY OVER THE PAST FEW MONTHS IN WORK THAT I FIND TO BE VERY MEANINGFUL BEING SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN IN COMMUNITY COLLEGE FOR OVER 17 YEARS NOW.

I FINALLY FEEL LIKE WE'RE PUTTING IN THE HARD WORK IN DOING OUR PART TO MAKING OUR STUDENTS YOU KNOW REALIZE THEIR DREAMS AND THEIR GOALS SO I'M GOING TO BUILD UPON THE EFFORTS THAT HAVE BEEN STARTED BY DR. BRATTY CONTINUING NOW NOT JUST TO MEET WITH THE ACADEMIC VICE PRESIDENTS, BUT SETTING UP ALIGNED MEETINGS WITH OUR VICE PROVOST, CONTINUING TO MEET TO GO OVER SCHEDULED GUIDELINES AND DIFFERENT THINGS PUT IN PLACE ALREADY TO PROCEED EFFICIENCIES AS WELL AS EQUITY ACROSS OUR CAMPUS.

AND SO I'M REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO CONTINUING THAT WORK AND ENSURING OUR STUDENTS ARE SUCCESSFUL.

I HOPE EVERYONE CAN HEAR.

>> VERY GOOD.

THANK YOU.

THANK YOU SO MUCH SHANDA BUT WAS THERE QUESTION OR SOMEONE?

>> OKAY.

I SAW WAVES WHICH IS WHY I STOPPED TALKING.

BUT I DID JUST WANT TO ADD WAS I SEE THE ACADEMIC ARM OF DALLAS COLLEGE BEING ABLE

[00:50:01]

TO DO OF THIS ITERATION OF WHO WE ARE IS TRULY ALIGN SUCCESS POINTS FOR OUR STUDENTS IN THEIR ENTRY TO COLLEGE, DURING COLLEGE, THROUGH THE ACADEMIC SUPPORT SERVICES WHETHER THAT'S LIBRARY SERVICES OR TIERING.

REALLY MENTIONED LEARNING THAT'S ALLOWING THEM TO UNDERSTAND AND UNDERSTAND ABOUT A CAREER PATH VERY EARLY ON.

THAT WILL OBVIOUSLY LEAD TO GAINFUL EMPLOYMENT AND OBTAINING A CREDENTIAL WHETHER IT'S A CERTIFICATE OR A DEGREE.

AND THAT'S WHAT THEY CAME TO COLLEGE FOR.

SO THAT'S WHY I'M EXCITED AND TRYING TO TEMPER MY EXCITEMENT BUT THESE THERE EXCITING TIMES FOR OUR DISTRICT.

AT ALL TIMES I HAVE, DOCTOR MAY.

>> VERY GOOD.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

APPRECIATE THAT.

LET ME AT THIS TIME LET ME CONTINUE AS WE GO FORD AND LET'S SAY, I THINK WE NEED TO JUMP HERE TO SLIDE SIX, IF WE COULD.

OVER THE LAST THREE MONTHS AS WELL DOCTOR SEABROOKS HAS BEEN SERVICING AS BOTH PRESIDENT OF CEDAR VALLEY AND INTERIM VICE CHANCELLOR OF STUDENT SUCCESS.

WE APPOINTED, OF COURSE, WITH LAST WEEK'S ANNOUNCEMENT, DR. BEATRICE JOSEPH AS THE NEW VICE CHANCELLOR FOR STUDENT SUCCESS.

I WANT TO ASK JO IF YOU WOULD KIND OF KICK US OFF HERE AND JUST TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT STUDENT SUCCESS AND THEN DR. JOSEPH, IF YOU WOULD MAKE COMMENTS AS WELL.

>> THANK YOU, CHANCELLOR MAY.

DEEPLY APPRECIATE ACTIVE OF THE OPPORTUNITY, AND THANK YOU ALL FOR ENTRUSTING US WITH THIS VERY PRECIOUS OPPORTUNITY.

I JUST WANT THE SHARE BEFORE WALKING THROUGH THE SLIDE, IT'S BEEN A TREAT PULLING THE ENTIRE DIVISION OF STUDENT SUCCESS TOGETHER.

YOU KNOW, WE HAVEN'T REALLY HAD A COLLECTIVE IDENTITY UNTIL RECENTLY AND I'M VERY PROUD TO ENGAGE AWESOME OUR PROFESSIONALS IN THIS CONCEPT THAT WE'RE NOT JUST SERVICE PROVIDERS.

WE'RE ACTUALLY EDUCATORS AND EVERY PUNT YOU REMEMBER OPPORTUNITY WE HAVE TO INTERACT WITH A STUDENT IS A TEACHABLE MOMENT TO REINFORCE OUR OUTCOMES.

AND SOME OF THE OUTCOMES I'M PROUD OF WORKING WITH AN AMAZING TEAM IS THE IDEA OF UNIFIED RECRUITMENT.

RIGHT NOW, WE ARE PREPARED TO HAVE DEVELOPED RECRUITMENT PLANS THAT REALLY FOCUSING ON TARGETED POPULATIONS.

WE HAVE COORDINATED WITH COMMUNICATIONS AND WE HAVE MARKETING PLANS THAT ACTUALLY CONNECT AND MAKE SENSE.

AS FAR AS THE TIMING GOES.

WE HAVE ALIGNED COMMUNICATIONS WITH STUDENTS WITH CRITICAL DEADLINES TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE REMINDED OF THE THINGS THAT THEY NEED TO DO TO STAY ENROLLED AND MOVING FORWARD.

I'M REAL EXCITED ABOUT THE COORDINATED TRAINING SHARING THE SAME EXPECTATIONS OF CUSTOMER SERVICE AS WELL AS WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A PROFESSIONAL ENGAGING WITH STUDENTS.

AS FAR AS THE ENROLLMENT PROCESS, YOU KNOW, WE HAVE SIX STEPS TO ENROLLMENT, BUT THEY WERE INTERPRETED IN THE PAST SEVEN DIFFERENT WAYS, AND SO WE HAVE COMMON PROCESSES, COMMON LANGUAGES.

WE HAVE IDENTICAL DEADLINES AND WE STREAMLINE COMMUNICATIONS ACROSS ALL LOCATIONS.

AND SO WE'VE UNIFIED TRAINING IN THAT REGARD AS RELATES TO COMMON EXPECTATIONS.

HOW MUCH TIME SHOULD IT TAKE TO RESPOND TO A STUDENT? WHAT SHOULD THEY EXPECT AT EVERY LOCATION? REALLY PROUD OF THAT WORK.

IN FACT, WE DIRECT ALL OF OUR ENROLLMENT SERVICES INQUIRIES TO ONE PORTAL.

OUR STUDENT VIRTUAL STUDENT RESOURCE WEB PAGE WHICH HAS BEEN A GREAT WIN FOR ALL OF US.

AND THEN MOVING FORWARD AS IT RELATES TO EQUITY, OUR EQUITY PRIORITIES FINING THOSE AND WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE IS TO HAVE A UNIFIED A VIRTUAL STUDENT RESOURCE CENTER TO ALIGN WITH THE VIRTUAL STUDENT RESOURCE PAGE IS IMPORTANT TO ALLOW THAT IMPORTANT CRITICAL COMMUNICATION TO BE PULLED OFF THE CAMPUSES SO THE FOLKS OWNED CAN BE ENGAGED WITH INTUITIVE ADVISING AND WORKING WITH STUDENTS FINANCIALLY TO GET THEM ACROSS THE FINISH LINE ACADEMICALLY AND THEN WE WANT TO SUBSTITUTIONS INSTITUTIONALIZE PROGRAMS TO MOVE THEM FROM INITIATIVES BEING INSTITUTIONALIZED AS RELATES OUR BLACK AND HISPANIC MALE STUDENTS AS WELL AS ENGAGING A DACA INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS IN A WAY THAT WE JUST DON'T HAVE SOME BEST PRACTICES IN SPOTS, BUT IT'S ACROSS THE COLLEGE WHERE WE PERM GREAT

[00:55:01]

SUCCESS.

AND SO I'VE BEEN REALLY EXCITED WORKING WITH DR. JOSEPH OVER THE LAST WEEK OR SO WHEN THE ANNOUNCEMENT WAS MADE, AND SHE'S ALREADY JUMPING IN WITH BOTH FEET AND THRILLED TO PASS THE BATON TO HER AND WATCH HER.

WITH THAT DR. JOSEPH I WOULD LOVE TO PASS THE BATON TO YOU AT THIS POINT.

>> GOOD AFTERNOON.

MADAM CHAIR, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD, DR. MAY, FIRST AND FOREMOST I WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU FOR PLACING YOUR TRUST AND CONFIDENCE IN MY ABILITIES TO ASSUME THE OFFICE OF THE VICE CHANCELLOR FOR STUDENT SUCCESS.

AS YOU KNOW I CURRENTLY SERVE AS THE PRESIDENT OF MOUNTAIN VIEW COLLEGE, AND I WOULD LIKE TO PUBLICLY ACKNOWLEDGE DR. SEE BROOKS AND HIS LEADERSHIP.

I APPRECIATE ALL THE WORK THAT HE AND HIS TEAM HAVE ALREADY DONE.

I AM PARTICULARLY EXCITED ABOUT THE UNIFIED EQUITY PRIORITIES THAT DR. SEABROOKS HAS JUST SPOKEN ABOUT.

I BELIEVE THAT THEY HAVE AN INCREDIBLE OPPORTUNITY THERE'S AN INCREDIBLE OPPORTUNITY FOR US TO SUPPORT OUR STUDENTS AND IN AN QUIBBLE AND IMPORTANT WAY.

I DO BELIEVE THAT DALLAS COLLEGE WILL ALLOW US TO BETTER SERVE OUR STUDENTS AND OUR COMMUNITY IN THEIR JOURNEY TO ACHIEVING THE PROMISE OF A BETTER LIFE THROUGH EDUCATION.

SO I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO WORKING WITH DR. FLOYD, DR. WILL CONS, AND WITH ALL FELLOW PRESIDENTS IN MOVING THE EQUITY AGENDA FORWARD.

SO THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE OPPORTUNITY.

>> THANK YOU, VERY MUCH, DR. JOSEPH.

THANKS FOR TAKING A LEADERSHIP IN THIS INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT AREA.

WITH THAT, LET ME INTRODUCE DR. PIPER WILKINS.

OF COURSE CURRENTLY AS THE CHIEF ADVANCEMENT OFFICER FOR THE DISTRICT AND THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE D.C. FOUNDATION.

DR. WILKINS, THE NEW VICE CHANCELLOR OR WORKFORCE AND ADVANCEMENT.

DR. WILKINS.

>> THANK YOU CHANCELLOR MAY AND GOOD AFTERNOON TRUSTEES AND CHAIR FLORES.

ADD MY APPRECIATION TO EVERYONE ELSE'S OF THE OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE IN THIS NEW ROLL.

THIS IS MY 14TH YEAR WITH OUR DISTRICT I SERVED WITH EL CENTRO FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND THE FOUNDATION FOR THE PAST FIVE AND A HALF, AND I THINK THE MERGER OF WORKFORCE AND ADVANCEMENT IS EXACTLY WHERE WE NEED TO BE AS A SYSTEM MOVING FORWARD, AND WE HAVE LOTS OF OPPORTUNITIES IF YOU WOULD ADVANCE THE SLIDE ONE.

THROUGH WE GO TO ACTUALLY INTEGRITY ACROSS THE BOARD.

ACROSS ALL OF OUR LOCATIONS.

ACROSS OUR SCHOOLS AND PROGRAMS. AND REALLY CREATE A STRONG.

SYSTEM.

YOU ALL KNOW THAT ALL OF OUR LOCATIONS, ALL OF OUR COLLEGES, HAVE PUT A LOT OF EFFORT INTO PARTNERSHIP DEVELOPMENT RELATIONSHIP DEVELOPMENT OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS.

THIS COMBINATION OF THESE AREAS GIVES US THE OPPORTUNITY TO REALLY BE CONSISTENT THERE HOW WE WORK WITH OUR CORPORATE PARTNERS, OUR EMPLOYERS AND TIE ALL OF THAT WORK IN INTEGRATE THAT INTO OUR SCHOOLS AND PROGRAMS. SOMEWHAT IN A SOLID APPROACH OVER THE PAST MANY YEARS, EMPLOYER PARTNERSHIPS, CORPORATE PARTNERSHIPS HAVE OPERATED SEPARATELY.

AND WE ARE GOING WORK REALLY HARD TO INTEGRATE THAT INTO THE STUDENT SUCCESS EXPERIENCE AS WELL.

ALSO GIVES TUESDAY OPPORTUNITY TO BE VERY STRATEGIC IN THE EXTERNAL FUNDING SUPPORT THAT WE SEEK IN MANY DIFFERENT WAYS FOR OUR SCHOOLS, FOR ADDITIONAL STUDENT SERVICES, AND FOR OUR LOCATIONS.

WE NOW WILL ALL BE DOING SIMILAR THINGS WHEN IT COMES TO STUDENT SUCCESS, AND THAT MAKES IT MUCH EASIER FOR US TOT TO TELL OUR STORY AND TO ACTUALLY SEEK FUNCTIONING FUNDING TO SUPPORT THESE EFFORTS.

WE ARE GOING TO WE'VE ACTUALLY ALREADY STARTED THIS PIECE, BUT WE HAVE BEEN CENTRALIZING THE GRANT DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT AND COMPLIANCE PROCESS OVER THE PAST MONTH.

WE'VE COMPLETELY RENAMED THAT AS THE DIVISION OF SPONSORED PROGRAMS AND IT'S A REALLY GOOD PROCESS FOR US SO FAR TO TALK ABOUT HOW WE DO THINGS MORE EFFICIENTLY, MORE EFFECTIVELY.

TO BETTER MAKE USE OF OUR FEDERAL GRANT RESOURCES AND HOW WE STAY IN COMPLIANCE WITH THOSE.

WE'LL BE DOING THE SAME THING WITH SPONSORSHIPS MANY OF OUR LOCATIONS ACROSS THE SYSTEM HAVE SPONSORS.

[01:00:01]

WE HAVE ATHLETIC FIELD RESOURCES AND SPONSORS FOR JUST ALL KINDS OF THINGS BUT THEY HAVE NEVER REALLY BEEN CONSISTENT.

SO WORRY GOING TO EXPAND ON THAT GROW THOSE OPPORTUNITIES.

WE'RE GOING TO SUPPORT THE PRESIDENTS IN THEIR NEWLY REDEFINED ROLES AND AS WE ENGAGE MUCH MOWER HEAVILY IN THEIR COMMUNITIES, WE'LL BE SUPPORTING THOSE EFFORTS, HELPING IDENTIFY CONNECTIONS FOR THEM, DOING A LOT OF PROSPECT RESEARCH, AND REALLY EXCITING AND WE'LL TALK ABOUT THIS A LOT MORE IN THE MONTHS TO COME.

WE'LL BE VERY INVOLVED IN DEVELOPMENT OF THE NEW INNOVATION HUB, WHICH IS REALLY THE INTERSECTION FOR OUR SYSTEM OF ALL OF OUR LARGE CORPORATE PARTNERS, SMALL BUSINESS PARTNERS, OUR SCHOOLS OF TECHNOLOGY, AND THAT'S GOING TO BE A REALLY EXCITING THING AS WE MOVE ON INTO THE FUTURE.

SO THRILLED TO BE HERE AND I LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING WITH ALL OF YOU.

>> THANK YOU, VERY MUCH.

AND THIS REPRESENTS NOW OUR TOP LEADERSHIP FOR THE DISTRICT, DR. FLOYD, DR. JOSEPH AND DR. WILKINS.

AND ALONG WITH DR. LOMON, AND LO FORWARD TO WORKING WITH THEM AS WELL AS OUR PRESIDENTS AND THE ENTIRE LEADERSHIP TEAM AS WE CARRY FORWARD AND IMPLEMENT THE DALLAS COLLEGE SO SERVE BOTH OUR STUDENTS AND THE COMMUNITY, AND I REALLY BELIEVE WHAT WE'RE BUILDING IS THE FUTURE FOR OUR COMMUNITY FOR AT LEAST THE NEXT 50 YEARS.

SO I THINK THAT'S A LOT OF RESPONSIBILITY BUT I ALSO BELIEVE WE'RE AT A GREAT PLACE IN TIME WITH THE SUPPORT OF THE BOARD TO MAKE THAT A REALITY.

LET ME INTRODUCE OUR VICE PROVOST THAT WILL BE REPORTING UP TO DR. FLOYD, AND AS WE HAD SHARED WITH YOU PREVIOUSLY, WE ARE CREATING SEVEN SCHOOLS.

YOU'LL SEE TODAY THAT EACH OF WHICH WILL HAVE A VICE PROVOST, BUT WE ALSO HAVE A COUPLE OF OTHER VICE PROVOSTS THAT I WILL INTRODUCE AS WELL AND POINT OUT THAT WE STILL HAVE A COUPLE OF VACANCIES IN OUR SCHOOL AS WE GO FORWARD.

WHAT I'D LIKE TO DO IS GO AHEAD AND INTRODUCE YOU, IF YOU WOULD JUST INTRODUCE YOURSELF BRIEFLY SO THAT YOU CAN MAKE A FEW COMMENTS THAT WAY THE BOARD CAN SEE YOU ON CAMERA AND I'LL JUST TAKE THIS ONE AT A TIME.

LET ME START WITH DR. GREG MORRIS.

WHO WILL SERVE AS THE SENIOR VICE PROVOST FOR ACADEMIC SERVICES.

DR. MORRIS?

>> DR. MAY, THANK YOU SO MUCH.

CHAIR FLORES, I SIMILAR PERSPECTIVE DEFINITELY HUMBLED TO SERVE IN THIS UNIQUE ROLL, AND, YOU KNOW, REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THE MANY, MANY OPPORTUNITIES THAT THE VARIOUS FUNCTIONAL AREAS UNDER THIS ROLL HAVE TO REALLY SUPPORT KIND OF AN KNOW VISTA APPROACH.

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT I SAID I WANT TO COMMIT TO YOU IS THROUGH ALL THESE VARIOUS FUNCTIONAL AREAS, OUR PRIMER PRIMARY FOCUS HAS TO WORK ON WORKFORCE AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FROM A COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PERSPECTIVE BUT ALSO MORE IMPORTANTLY AROUND STUDENTS, AND PARTICULARLY IN THIS CURRENT CLIMATE AROUND EQUITY.

SO ACROSS THE FACULTY TEACHING AND LEARNING CENTER FROM ACCREDITATION I WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE ALWAYS BUILD THESE STRUCTURES TO SUPPORT ON INNOVATIVE AGENDA, AND PROVIDE AN UNDERPINNING FOR DR. FLOYD AND DR. JOSEPH AND ALSO DR. WILKINS AS WE MOVE FORWARD.

JUST DELIGHTED TO BE PART OF THIS TEAM AND EXCITED FOR THOSE NEXT STEPS BUT THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

>> THANK YOU, GREG.

AND I APPRECIATE YOUR WILLINGNESS TO BE A PART OF THIS IMPORTANT WORK AS WE GO FORWARD.

NEXT LET ME INTRODUCE AN MA MAYS.

ANNA HAS KIND OF BEEN ONE OF OUR KEY DRIVERS WITH OUR WORK WITH K12, BUT THAT'S NOT ALL SHE'S BEEN FOCUSED ON.

SO IN HER NEW ROLL SHE'LL BE THE VICE PROVOST OF EDUCATIONAL PARTNERSHIPS WHICH INCLUDES 0 OUR K12 WORK AS WELL AS WORK WITH THE UNIVERSITIES.

ANNA, WOULD YOU INTRODUCE YOURSELF?

>> THANK YOU, DR. MAY.

I'M VERY PRIVILEGED TO ASSUME A NEW ROLL AS VICE PROVOST OF EDUCATIONAL PARTNERSHIP.

AS INDICATED, I'VE BEEN WORKING WITH DUAL CREDIT I RECALL COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOLS P TEXT AND THE EXPANSION THAT HAS PREACHED OVER 26,000 STUDENTS IN OUR

[01:05:01]

DISTRICT, AND I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO ALSO IMPROVING THE PIPELINE FROM K THROUGH 12 THROUGH NOT ONLY OUR COLLEGES, BUT TO THE UNIVERSITIES IN A MORE SEAMLESS TRANSFER PROCESS, THROUGH THE GUIDED PATHWAYS AS WELL AS TO EMPLOYMENT.

SO I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS OPPORTUNITY.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

>> THANK YOU ANNA, AND LOOK FORWARD -- WE'VE HAD TO HANDLE A LOT OF OUR P TEXT AND EARLY HIGH SCHOOL KIND OF BY COMMITTEE IN THE PAST, AND IT'S REAM REALLY OF A SIZE AND IMPORTANCE TO NOT ONLY DALLAS COLLEGE BUT TO OUR COMMUNITY AND SCHOOLS AS WELL, THAT REALLY DEDICATING RESOURCES TO THIS IMPORTANT EFFORT IS REALLY OVERDUE.

SO THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE LEADERSHIP THERE.

NEXT I WANT TO INTRODUCE DR. SOLOMON CROSS.

DR. CROSS IS CURRENTLY.

SCHOOL OF CREATIVE ARTS ENTERTAINMENT, AND DESIGN.

DR. CROSS.

>> THANK YOU CHANCELLOR MAY.

CHAIR FLORES, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, EXECUTIVE LEADS OF DALLAS COLLEGE.

IT IS MY EXTREME FLOSH SERVE TO THE INAUGURAL VICE PROVOST OF CREATIVE ARTS ENTERTAINMENT AND DESIGN.

I ALSO WANT TO THANK DR. SEABROOKS FOR HIS LEADERSHIP AT CEDAR VALLEY COLLEGE AND I WANT TO KNOW ONE OF HIS COMMENTS THAT HE MADE VERY FREQUENTLY TALKING ABOUT HOW YOU DO THE WORK OF ERADICATING POVERTY IN DALLAS COUNTY.

UNDER DR. FLOYD'S LEADERSHIP I LOOK FORWARD TO REENVISIONING WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A CREATIVE PROFESSIONAL.

ALSO ENHANCING OUR COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT THERE DALLAS COUNTY.

THANK YOU FOR THE OPPORTUNITY I LOOK FORWARD.

>> THANK YOU, VERY MUCH.

AND APPRECIATE YOUR WILLINGNESS TO LEAD IN THIS IMPORTANT AREA FOR OUR STUDENTS, COMMUNITY, AS WELL AS THE COLLEGE.

NEXT IS A RELATIVELY NEW SCHOOL IN TERMS OF IDEA AND CONCEPT THE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION.

IN THAT ROLL DR. ROB DEHAAS WILL SERVE VICE PROVOST.

HE HAS BEEN INTERRUPT TO STAND UP OUR FIRST BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN THE EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND GETTING THAT THROUGH THE APPROVAL PROCESS AND WE'RE EXCITED TO HAVE THAT LAUNCHED THIS FALL BUT THIS WILL ONLY BE THE BEGINNING OF OUR WORK TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE BROADER EDUCATION COMMUNITY DR. DEHAAS.

>> THANK YOU CHANCELLOR MAY, AND THANK YOU CHAIR FLORES AND BOARD FOR THIS AMAZING OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE IN THIS ROLL.

I LOOK FORWARD TO REALLY CONTINUING THE AMAZING EFFORTS THAT REALLY HAVE BEEN THE COLLECTIVE TEAM EFFORT TO BUILD AND LAUNCH THIS NEW FIRST OF ITS KIND BACHELOR'S DEGREE PROGRAM AT DALLAS COLLEGE.

WE WILL BE THE FIRST BACHELOR'S DEGREE PROGRAM OF ITS TYPE IN THE ENTIRE STATE OF TEXAS.

AND SO WE'RE REALLY LOOKING TO USE THAT INNOVATIVE PLATFORM TO ALSO SCALE AND EXPAND OUR EXISTING EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM.

SO THANKFUL FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY AND LOOK FORWARD TO WORKED UNDER THE GUIDANCE AND LEADERSHIP OF DR. FLOYD AS WELL.

SO THANK YOU.

>> THANK YOU AND ROB REALLY APPRECIATE THE GREAT WORK YOU'VE DONE IN GIGABYTES TO YOU THIS POINT AND LOOK FORWARD TO THE NEXT SEVERAL YEARS AS YOU HAVE PUT TOGETHER SOME VERY AMBITIOUS GOALS AND PLANS FOR THE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION NEXT WANT TO INTRODUCE DR. WASHING.

HE WILL SERVE AS THE VICE PROVOST OF THE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS HOSPITALITY AND GLOBAL TRADE AND JUST TO COMMENT.

DR. WASHING OF COURSE HIS ROLL BRINGS HAD A BREADTH AND DEPTH OF A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT AREAS AND HE HAD INTEREST IN THE OTHER SCHOOLS BUT WHEN WE LOOKED AT HIS BACKGROUND AND LEADERSHIP AND ASKED HIM IF HE HAD STEP UP AND TAKE OVER THIS IMPORTANT AREA HE SAID YES, AND I JUST WANT TO THANK YOU FOR AGREEING TO LEAD AS THIS IS ONE OF OUR LARGER SCHOOLS IN TERMS OF THE WITH THE DISTRICT BASED ONLY THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS ENROLLED.

>> YES, MA'AM AND THANK YOU SO MUCH.

REALLY EXCITED.

MOSTLY BECAUSE WHAT WE'RE DOING HERE IS NOT JUST A LITTLE TWEAK.

WE'RE NOT JUST CHANGING THINGS A LITTLE BIT.

[01:10:01]

THIS IS A NEW DAY, A NEW STRUCTURE.

IT'S A WAY FOR US TO TAKE FULL ADVANTAGE OF THE ENTIRE DALLAS COLLEGE CONCEPT.

WE WON'T HAVE POTENTIALLY SEVEN DIFFERENT APPROACHES TO THE SAME TYPE OF PROGRAM.

IT'S JUST AN EXCITING NEW THING AND IT'S GOING TO ALLOW TO US FOCUS FULLY ON STUDENT SUCCESS, ON THE THINGS SUCH AS EQUITY AND DIVERSITY ALL OF THE THINGS CHAIR FLORES THAT YOU MENTIONED EARLIER WHEN SPEAKING TO THE FACULTY GROUP.

IT'S JUST AN EXCITING TIME FOR US TO GET TO ADDRESS THOSE KINDS OF THINGS AS WE JUST COMPLETELY GET LASER FOCUSED ON STUDENT SUCCESS.

AND I'M EXCITED TO BE DOING IT IN THIS PARTICULAR SCHOOL AS WELL AS THE OTHERS.

THANK YOU ALL EVER ALL VERY MUCH.

>> THANK YOU.

THANK YOU, DR. WALKER AND APPRECIATE YOUR WILLINGNESS TO LEAD IN THIS AREA NEXT I WANT TO INTRODUCE DR. JUANITA ZAPATA FLINT WHO WILL SERVE THE VICE PROVOST FOR THE SCHOOL OF HEALTH SCIENCES.

>> GOOD AFTERNOON AND THANK YOU SO MUCH DR. MAY FOR ALLOWING ME CHOOSING ME TO LEAD COLLEGE FOR HEALTH SCIENCES IT'S ALWAYS BEEN A DREAM OF MINE TO DO THIS AND I WANT TO THANK THE SUPPORT OF THE BOARD AS WELL BECAUSE WE HAVE SOME WONDERFUL PROGRESS THAT Y'ALL HAVE APPROVED AND Y'ALL CONSTANTLY LOOK OUT AFTER AND ADVOCATE FOR IN THE COMMUNITY.

I BELIEVE THAT WITH MY HISTORY IN THE DISTRICT I'VE BEEN HERE 44 YEARS.

I LOVE THE DISTRICT AND I LOVE WHAT I DO.

I LOVE TO SEE STUDENTS GRADUATE, AND I BELIEVE THIS NEW DALLAS COLLEGE IS THE GOING TO ALLOW THE STUDENTS TO KIND OF JUST COME IN ONE WAY AND LEAVE OUT THE DOOR AND JUST HAVE A SEAMLESS TYPE OF ENTRY AND EXIT FOR THEM.

AND WE CAN GET THEM GRADUATED QUICKLY AND THEN THEY CAN MOVE OUT INTO THE WORKFORCE BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT THEY WANT TO DO.

THEY WANT TO WORK AND THEY WANT TO HAVE JOBS AND I BELIEVE THAT THIS OPPORTUNITY IS GOING TO BE A BIG PLATFORM FOR CREATING OTHER NEW PROGRESS AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR STUDENTS, BUT I JUST WANT TO SAY THAT I AM JUST THRILLED TO BE THE NEW VICE PROVOST FOR HEALTH AND SCIENCES.

I AM VERY EXCITED AND LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING WITH ALL MY COLLEAGUES.

THE OTHER VICE PROVOSTS.

I THINK WE'RE GOING TO SET THE WORLD ON FIRE, DR. MAY.

>> THANK YOU VERY MUCH JUANITA AND APPRECIATE YOUR WILLINGNESS TO SERVE.

NEXT I WANT TO INTRODUCE A DR. KANIKAWA, VICE PROVOST FOR SCHOOL OF -- >> GOOD AFTERNOON.

THANK YOU, DR. MAY.

THAT I REMEMBER FLORES AND MEMBERS OF BOARD.

AS MENTIONED BY OTHERS IT IS EXTREMELY PRIVILEGE FOR ME AND I WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE SERVING IN THE ROLL OF VICE PROVOST OF SCHOOL ROLL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY MATH MAT I CAN SAY AND SCIENCES I'M REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO PREPARING THE STUDENTS FOR.

STUDENTS.

UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF DR. FLOYD, REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO CONTINUING TO WORK TOWARDS THE FORMALIZATION THE FOUNDATION FOR DALLAS COLLEGE.

I JUST WANT TO SAY, LIKE, I'M REALLY EXCITED FOR THIS NEW POSITION AND THANK YOU.

>> VERY GOSPEL THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH DR. KANIKAWA.

OBVIOUSLY THIS IS A CRITICAL AREA FOR US WHERE WE INCLUDE ALL OF OUR STEM PROGRAMS, ENGINEERING AND OTHERS AS WE WITH SO MANY OF THESE AREAS RIGHT NOW EMPLOYERS CLAMORING FOR PEOPLE FOR WHICH THEY CAN'T FIND ENOUGH TODAY TO MEET THE NEEDS AND DEMAND THAT ARE THERE.

MADAM CHAIR WE'VE BEEN GOING ON HERE FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AND A HALF NOW.

I WOULD RECOMMEND THAT WE TAKE A BREAK FOR A FEW MOMENTS AND THEN THAT WE RECONVENE.

WOULD THAT MAKE SENSE TO YOU?

>> CHAIR D FLORES: I THINK THAT WOULD BE HELPFUL.

I THINK THAT IT IS LOOKING INTO WHY OUR CHAT FEATURE DISAPPEARED.

I HAD WANTED TO BE SENDING INDIVIDUAL CONGRATULATIONS MESSAGE TO OUR NEW LEADERS, BUT I CAN'T BECAUSE THE CHAT FUNCTION ISN'T WORKING AND THEY DIDN'T WANT TO TRY TO GET IT WORKING WHAT I'M WE WERE ON LIVE STREAM BECAUSE THEY WERE AFRAID IT MIGHT CUT THE LIVE STREAM.

I DON'T KNOW IF THEY CAN DO IT WHILE WE'RE ON BREAK BUT IN CASE THEY CAN'T DON'T

[01:15:05]

WORRY ABOUT IT WE'LL CHAT TOMORROW.

>> THANK YOU VERY MUCH, AND I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST ME THAT LOST THE ABILITY TO SEE THE CHAT.

SO THANK YOU FOR AND APPRECIATE THOSE OF YOU WHO WERE TEXTING, NOW I REALIZE THAT OBVIOUSLY I CAN'T SEE THE THAT THE, EITHER.

SO -- >> IT'S 228 BY MY CLOCK.

LET US RECONVENE AT 2:45, GIVE A CHANCE FOR EVERYBODY TO STRETCH THEIR LEGS AND

TAKE A LITTLE BIT OF -- [RECESS] >> WILL DOORS AND NOW I WANT TO KIND OF SHIFT GEARS AND MOVE OVER TO THE OPERATIONS SIDE OF THE HOUSE, MANY OF WHICH YOU'RE FAMILIAR WITH MOST OF THE FOLKS THERE, BUT CERTAINLY AS WE MOVE INTO DALLAS COLLEGE, THE EXPECTATIONS AND THE ROLL OF MANY OF THESE AREAS WILL BE CHANGING AS WE WILL BE ROLLING UP SOME OF THE CAMPUS OPERATIONS AND FOLKS THAT HAVE BEEN AT THE LOCATIONS UNDER THESE INDIVIDUALS.

JUSTIN, I WANT TO TURN IT OVER THE TO YOU IF YOU WOULD GIVE AN OVERVIEW REALLY OF THE OPERATIONS AREA AND LOOKS LIKE WE'RE GOING TO START WITH THE CRITICAL RESPONSE REVIEW.

CERTAINLY ON OUR MIND THESE DOO DAYS WITH THE WHICH IS OF COVID-19.

>> I'LL MAKE A NOW INTRODUCTORY REMARKS, WHICH THEN WE WILL START ON SLIDE 8 WITH DR. DAVIS.

BUT WITH THE NUMBER OF THESE OPERATIONAL AREAS THE PROCESS HAS ALREADY BEGIN TO PULL THE CAMPUS FUNCTIONS TOGETHER DURING THE COVID SITUATION WE HAD TO MOVE VERY QUICKLY AHEAD OF YOUR TIMELINE HOW WE WOULD COMMUNICATE.

SO PULLING THE MARKETING TEAM TOGETHER.

HOW WE WOULD DO SOME OF THE ON-BOARDING THAT WE NEEDED TO AND DEAL WITH SOME OF THE EMPLOYEE ISSUES.

SO PULLING THE HR TEAM TOGETHER.

PULLING I.T.

TOGETHER IN THIS TECHNOLOGY CHALLENGED ENVIRONMENT.

ALONG WITH BUSINESS AND YOU HEARD PIPER MENTION GRANT EARLY ON.

SO WHAT YOU'LL SEE TODAY DOESN'T REPRESENT THE ENTIRE BREADTH OF THE OPERATIONS AREA AND TEAM.

THERE ARE OTHERS THAT HAVE RESPONSIBILITIES AS WELL OR BUT WE'RE JUST GOING TO HIT THE HIGHLIGHTS WITH SOME OF THE INDIVIDUALS THAT HAVE SOME OF THE CHARGE NOW TO PULL SOME OF THESE UNIFIED AREAS TOGETHER AND TO BUILD AND DEVELOP A STRUCTURE TO SUPPORT THIS NEW ONE DALLAS COLLEGE.

BUT AS THE CHANCELLOR SAID LET'S START WITH SLIDE 8.

A NEW ASPECT OF THE OPERATIONS TEAM IS THE CRITICAL RESPONSE OFFICE.

THAT CLEARLY CAME OUT OF THE LAST FEW MONTHS WITH COVID.

AND WE'VE HAD TEAMS OF INDIVIDUALS WORKING THROUGH THE MANY DIFFERENT AREAS THAT WE NEEDED TO PULL TOGETHER AND THE THINGS THAT WE NEEDED TO THINK THROUGH, BUT WHAT REALLY CAME CLEAR TO THE CHANCELLOR IS WE REALLY NEEDED SOMEONE TO TAKE CHARGE AND LEAD OF THIS EFFORT AND SO WE'RE FORTUNATE ENOUGH THAT DR. SHARON DAVIES ANSWERED THE CALL TO DO JUST THAT.

SO WITH THAT DR. DAVIS I'LL TURN OVER TO YOU.

>> THANK YOU, I'D LIKE TO THANK EVERYONE FOR THE APPOINTMENT TO THIS CRITICAL RESPONSE OFFICE AS CHIEF CRITICAL RESPONSE OFFICER.

I AM PLEASED TO BE ABLE TO UTILIZE BOTH MY BUSINESS BACKGROUND AND HEALTH CARE

[01:20:06]

ADMINISTRATION BACKGROUND TO LEAD THIS EFFORT.

AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE SLIDE THERE ARE THREE PRIMARY CATEGORIES THAT RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS EFFORTS WILL TAKE ON COMMUNICATIONS STRATEGIC OVERSIGHT AND COLLABORATION.

BUT OVERALL OUR GOAL IS TO ENSURE THAT WE BRING BACK OUR STUDENTS AND EMPLOYEES IN A SAFE AND EFFECTIVE MANNER.

WE WANT TO ALSO CONTINUE TO FOCUS ON THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF ALL STUDENTS AND EMPLOYEES.

THE OFFICE IS PRESENTLY WORKING ON TIMELINES AND REQUIREMENTS FOR BRINGING BACK OUR STAFF AND STUDENTS IN A SAFE MANNER.

ALSO PUTTING TOGETHER PROCESSES THAT WE CAN UTILIZE TO ENSURE BUSINESS CONTINUITY.

WE HAVE BEEN IN OPERATIONS FOR ONE WEEK SO I'M VERY EXCITED ABOUT WHERE WE'LL BE GOING IN THE FUTURE.

THANK YOU.

>> THANK YOU DR. DAVIS.

LET ME TURN TO AN AREA THAT WE CERTAINLY TALKED A LOT ABOUT, BUT WHEN WE ROLLED OUT THE NEW LEADERSHIP STRUCTURE, THE NEW DALLAS COLLEGE STRUCTURE BACK THERE JANUARY WHEN DR. MAY SHARED THAT, THERE WAS A NEW AREA THAT WAS PART OF THE OPERATIONS TEAM, AND THAT'S THE OFFICE OF SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY.

SO IF WE COULD GO TO SLIDE 10 THE OFFICE OF SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY WILL HAVE THREE UNITS AND DIVISIONS THAT ARE A PART OF IT AND THE FIRST IS THE EQUITY IS AND INCLUSION.

SO AS WE DID OUR EQUITY AND INCLUSION SURVEY LAST YEAR CLEARLY ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WAS IDENTIFIED WAS TO REALLY HAVE A STRATEGIC LEAD AND ROLL ON BEHALF OF THE DISTRICT AND SO THAT WILL REALLY BE THE INTENT OF THAT OFFICE.

WE WILL BE SEEKING TO BUILD OUT SOME OF THE STAFF WITHIN THAT OFFICE INCLUDING THE CHIEF OF THE OFFICE OF SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY.

BUT BEING HOUSED WITHIN THE OPERATIONS AREA WILL ALLOW IT TO WORK WITH THE CROSS FUNCTIONAL TEAMS THAT IT NEEDS TO WORK WITH TO FOCUS ON EQUITY INCLUSION WITHIN HR.

SO IT WILL NEED TO WORK THE SHERRY'S TEAM OR CERTAINLY WITH PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT.

WITH STUDENT SERVICES.

WITH ACADEMIC AFFAIRS, LEGAL, AND CERTAINLY THE EMPLOYEE RESOURCE GROUPS WILL HELP INFORM THE WORK OF THAT OFFICE, TOO.

AND AS I SAID WE'LL SEEK TO HAVE A CHIEF OVER THAT AREA OF SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND ALSO A DIRECTOR OF EQUITY AND INCLUSION.

THEN THE NEXT AREA THAT'S PART OF THIS OFFICE IS OUR MWBE OFFICE, WOMEN AND MINORITY BUSINESS EMPLOYMENT OFFICE ON THE BUSINESS SIDE OF HOUSE.

WE WILL SEEK TO ALIGN IT WITHIN THIS AREA THAT REALLY CAN ENSURE THAT DALLAS COLLEGE HAS AN OPEN DOOR FOR EVERYONE FOR ALL TO HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO DO BUSINESS WITH US AND OBVIOUSLY AN SUBSTITUTION OUR SIZE, THERE ARE OPPORTUNITIES LARGE AND SMALL, AND SO WE REALLY WANT TO REFOCUS THAT AREA TO ENSURE THAT WE'RE PROVIDING THAT OPPORTUNITY AND CERTAINLY WORKING WITH OTHER PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS, OTHER BUSINESS AND MINORITY GROUPS TO HELP INFORM HOW WE DO THAT WORK.

AND THEN THE THIRD AREA TAKE I'LL QUICKLY MENTION IS SUSTAINABILITY.

WE HAVE AN EXISTING SUSTAINABILITY OFFICE NOW, AND SO WE WILL SEEK TO UNIFY SOME OTHER AREAS OF OPERATION THAT ARE AT THE CAMPUS LOCATIONS AS WELL, BUT REALLY WE WANT TO ENSURE THAT SUSTAINABILITY IS SOMETHING THAT IS ENGRAINED THROUGHOUT THE SYSTEM AS WELL.

SO MUCH LIKE EQUITY INCLUSION, IT WILL WORK WITH THE DIFFERENT YOU EVER DIFFERENT SIDES OF THE HOUSE TO MAKE SURE WE'RE THINKING ABOUT SUSTAINABLE INITIATIVES IN ALL THAT WE DO, AGAIN, BE IT POLICY, WHAT WE DO ON THE CONSTRUCTION SIDE, WITH OUR BOND CAMPAIGN MOVING FORWARD.

AND I KNOW OFTENTIMES PEOPLE THINK ABOUT SUSTAINABILITY AS KIND OF BEING THAT GREEN STUFF BUT REALLY THERE ARE 17 SUSTAINABILITY GOALS THAT ARE VERY BROAD THAT GET INTO SOME OF THE SOCIAL JUSTICE ISSUES AND OTHER ISSUES AS WELL, WHICH IS WHY IT ALLIANCE NICELY WITHIN THE OFFICE OF SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND SO LIKE I SAID WITH THE NUMBER OF AREAS THAT YOU WILL HEAR FROM TODAY WE CAN DO A

[01:25:06]

PRESENTATION ON EACH ONE OF THOSE SO WE WILL ENDEAVOR TO DO THAT RECOMMENDED TO SUSTAINABILITY AND EQUITY INCLUSION AND SOME OF THOSE AS WELL.

SO I'LL PAUSE IF THERE'S NO QUESTIONS THERE.

I WILL TURN TO PASSE OUR CHIEF MARKETING OFFICER TO TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WHAT UNIFIED MARKETING WILL LOOK LIKE IN DALLAS COLLEGE SO WE ARE REALLY FOCUSED ON EXISTENCE EFFICIENCY WHICH REALLY STARTS WITH CREATING A ACHIEVE MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS PLAN.

THAT'S REALLY BASED ON THE STRATEGY THAT ARE GOING TO BE SET BY THE LEADERSHIP AT THE COLLEGE LEVEL AT THE SCHOOL CAMPUSES AND STUDENT SERVICES MAKING TO YOUR THAT 24 FACULTY.

>> THAT HAVE BEEN WORKING TOGETHER TAKING DOWN BARRIERS, TAKING DOWN ALL OF THE THINGS THAT REALLY TAKING A LOOK AT IT FROM A FRESH PERSPECTIVE AND SAYING HOW CAN WE DO THIS.

WE'VE GOT A SCRATCH SHEET OF PAPER HOW DO WE START FROM SCRATCH AND BUILD THE ORGANIZATION THAT WE NEED TO HAVE MOVING FORWARD.

I'M REALLY PROUD OF ALL OF THE WORK THAT'S BEEN DONE BUT WE STILL HAVE A LOT OF WORK TO DO AND WE'LL BE WORKING WITH CLOSELY WITH THE LEADERS THAT WE'VE MET TODAY TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE MEETING THEIR NEEDS AND THAT WE ARE MAKING.

>> AND MAKING DECISIONS BASED ON DATA SO I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO BEING ABLE TO WORK WITH THE IIRT TEAM AND MAKE AUTOMATED WAYS WE CAN WORK OUT OUR PROGRAMS AND MEASURE THE EFFECTIVENESS OVER TIME AND THEN THE FINAL THING I WANT TO TALK ABOUT IS JUST BEING ABLE TO SHARE TALENT ACROSS THE ORGANIZATION.

THAT'S BEEN SO BEAUTIFUL TO WATCH BECAUSE WE'VE GOT TALENTED PEOPLE ALL OVER THE PLACE AND BEING ABLE TO TAP INTO ALL OF THOSE DIFFERENT TEAMS AND SEE WHAT EVERYBODY CAN DO HAS BEEN A REALLY NICE BENEFIT TO UNIFICATION ANY WE SAY? THANK YOU.

>> NOW LET'S TURN TO SHERRY ENWRIGHT, OUR CHIEF RESOURCES OFFICER.

STILL RELATIVELY NEW WITH US BUT HAD TO MOVE VERY QUICKLY, AGAIN IN THE COVID ENVIRONMENT AND THEN ALSO TO BEGIN TO PULL THE CAMPUS RAILROAD OPERATIONS TOGETHER.

SO SHERRY.

>> THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

OUR UNIFIED HR STRATEGY REALLY FOCUSES ON CONSISTENCY, COMMUNICATION AND EFFICIENCY.

YOU'LL SEE THE THEME THERE OF ONE COLLEGE, ONE HR.

AGAIN AS WE'VE HEARD THERE WERE EIGHT DIFFERENT WAYS OUT OF DOING THINGS AND THAT INCLUDED HR PROCESSES.

SO UNFORTUNATELY THERE WASN'T NECESSARILY A CONSISTENT APPROACH OR A COMMON COMMUNICATION.

SO AS JUSTIN SAID, WE HAD UNIFIED THE ENTIRETY OF THE HR DEPARTMENT AND THAT HAS REALLY PROVIDED SOME GREAT BENEFITS.

WE CREATED ACT HR WHICH RIGHT NOW IS AN E-MAIL ADDRESS AS WE START TO MOVE MORE INTO A PHYSICAL PRESENCE, THAT WILL BECOME AS WELL A TELEPHONE RESOURCE.

AND THAT'S A RESOURCE WHERE OUR EMPLOYEES CAN AS I SAID E-MAIL BUT ULTIMATELY WILL BE ABLE TO CALL AND GET A COMMON RESPONSE, A COMMON MESSAGE, AND THE SAME ANSWER TO THE SAME QUESTION.

AND THAT HAS GONE OVER VERY, VERY WELL.

[01:30:01]

WE'VE RECEIVED PROBABLY OVER 600 E-MAILS TO THAT ADDRESS SO FAR, AND IT'S REALLY BEEN IN OPERATION I THINK FOR ABOUT SIX WEEKS.

SO ONE OF THE OTHER THINGS IS PATTI MENTIONED, INSTEAD OF HAVING OUR EXPERTISE FOCUS ON A CAMPUS LEVEL, WITH HER WE HAVE REDEPLOYED OUR TEAMS ON A SUBJECT MATTER LEVEL IS THAT WE CAN ENSURE THAT TALENT IS DISTRIBUTED ON A DISTRICT WIDE SUBJECT EXPERTISE.

THIS HAS ALLOWED ENHANCED UTILIZATION OF OUR DATA PREVIOUSLY.

HR AT EACH OF THE LOCATIONS ONLY HAD ACCESS TO THAT LOCATION'S DATA.

SO NOW WITH A COMMON UNIFIED HR, WE CAN ACTUALLY OBTAIN DATA ACROSS THE DISTRICT, START USING THAT TO REALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT OUR RESOURCE DATA IS TELLING US AND HOW WE BETTER DERIVE OUTCOME.

ALSO WITH THIS UNIFICATION WE HAVE HAD SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVED COMMUNICATIONS WITHIN THE FUNCTIONAL AREAS THEMSELVES.

WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO ESTABLISH SERVICE LEVEL STANDARDS GUIDANCE AND TIMELINES SO THAT PEOPLE KNOW WHEN THIS EXPECT A RESPONSE WHAT TYPE OF RESPONSE AND THEN PROBABLY KEY TO OUR EMPLOYEES, CONSISTENT APPLICATION OF PROCESSES AT ALL LOCATIONS.

AND IF YOU'LL TURN TO THE NEXT SLIDE, WHAT IT REALLY DRIVES TO IS THE UNIFIED HR MISSION AND VISION AND THAT IS PROVIDING SERVICE, SUPPORT, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY SOLUTIONS.

SO WE WANT TO PARTNER WITH OUR CUSTOMERS.

USING THE RESOURCES AND TECHNOLOGY WE HAVE DRIVING THOSE MEASURABLE RESULTS.

ALIGNING THOSE RESOURCES THAT WE DO HAVE WITH THE NEEDS AND BEING ABLE, OF COURSE TO BE FLEXIBLE ADJUST AND ADAPT AS NEEDED OBVIOUSLY AS MOVING TO AN ENTIRELY VIRTUAL WORLD.

AND THEN REALLY ON THE SOLUTIONS PIECE WE WANT TO BE PROACTIVE.

WE DON'T WANT TO SIT BACK AND HAVE PROBLEMS COME TO US.

WE WANT TO IDENTIFY THE GAPS THAT ARE THERE, CONSULT ON THOSE STRATEGIC ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS THAT DISTRICT WIDE ENTERPRISES AND REALLY THINK PROACTIVELY ABOUT HOW TO BE A THOUGHTFUL ADVOCATE FOR THE DISTRICT AND MOVE THE ORGANIZATION FORWARD.

SO -- AND WITH THAT UNIFICATION OF HR WE REALLY BELIEVE THAT WITH WE WILL BE ABLE TO DO THIS AT A MUCH MORE CONSISTENT AND EFFICIENT WAY.

THANK YOU.

>> ALL RIGHT.

THANK YOU SHARON.

SO NOW I'LL ASK TIM MARSHAL TO SHARE A LITTLE.

HE'S PULLED THE I.T.

TEAM TOGETHER ACROSS THE CAMPUSES JUST IN TIME BECAUSE WE'RE DOING LITTLE THINGS LIKE BIG NERP.

SO TIM.

>> THANK YOU, JUSTIN.

NEXT LANDSLIDE PLEASE.

SO OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS, I'VE HAD THE PLEASURE TO WORK WITH THE COLLEGE I.T.

DIRECTORS TO DO A LOT OF THINGS INFORMALLY WITH REGARDS TO FINING AN APPROACH FOR I.T.

THE IN SUPPORT OF YOUR STUDENT SUCCESS EFFORTS.

SO SOME OF THE EFFORTS WERE COMBINED PURCHASING AND OF A COUPLE OF ITEMS AND SOFTWARE AS THEY CAME UP ON THE CAMPUS AND STABILIZING AND STANDARDIZING ALL THE I.T.

POSITIONS.

YOU CAN IMAGINE THE NUMBERS AND TYPES OF TITLES THAT WE HAD OVER THE LAST 50 YEARS.

A LOT OF THEM YOU KNOW FOUR OR FIVE POSITION TITLES ACTUALLY WHERE THE SAME POSITION.

SO WE WORKED WITH THE STAFF TO GAIN AN UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT THOSE POSITIONS SHOULD BE DOING AND THAT REALLY HELPED FOR WHAT WE STARTED THE UNIFICATION PROCESS A FEW MONTHS AGO A FORMAL PERSPECTIVE.

WE ALREADY HAD A GOOD WORKING RELATIONSHIP AND WE JUMPED RIGHT INTO DOING A LOT OF THINGS WE NEEDED TO DO FOR COVID SUPPORT AND THAT NOW TURNED INTO DOING WHAT WE NEED TO DO FOR DALLAS COLLEGE, AND THE YEOMAN'S EFFORT GOING ON TORE DIFFERENT UNIFIED GROUPS PARTICULARLY AS WE'RE CHANGED HOW WE PRESENT OURS TO OUR STUDENTS.

A LOT OF OUR PROCESSES HAVE TO CHANGE AND THE TECHNOLOGY IS A HUGE LEVER IN THAT ACTIVITY.

AS I MENTIONED WE'RE TUNING COMMODITY PURCHASES.

WE EXPECT TO SEE SAVINGS IN THE MILLIONS OFFICE DOLLARS BECAUSE OF THE DUPLICATE ACTIVE NATURE OF PURCHASING WEST VIRGINIA BEEN DOING OVER THE YEARS HAS NOT ALLOWED TO US TAKE ADVANTAGE OF SOME BULK PURCHASING ENVIRONMENTS, AND YOU KNOW WHEN YOU'RE BUYING FOR 5 MILLION SQUARE FEET IT MAKES HUGE DIFFERENCE THAN WHAT WITH YOUR BUYING FOR ABOUT A MILLION SQUARE FEET PARTICULARLY IN THE AREAS OF

[01:35:03]

COMPUTERS PROJECTORS AND OTHER DIGITAL COMPONENTS.

WITH THE MOVE TO THE I.T.

BEING UNIFIED IT ALLOWS US TO DO SOME THINGS FROM THE STAFFING PERSPECTIVE TO ESTABLISH TIGER TEAMS AND THIS IS A TERM USED IN I.T.

SUPPORT WARE.

YOU DON'T SUPPORT A PARTICULAR GRAPHIC LOCATION YOU SUPPORT A PARTICULAR FUNCTION AND SHERRY'S UNIFICATION OF HR IS GOOD EXAMPLE OF WHERE PEOPLE ARE GOING TO BE CONTACTED BASED ON THEIR EXPERIENCE AND EXPERTISE WITHIN A PASTORED TECHNOLOGY AND BE AVAILABLE ACROSS THE DISTRICT SO WE'LL BE ABLE TO ROLL OUT SOME INTERESTING THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN DONE AT A SINGULAR CAMPUS BUT NOW DISTRICT WIDE.

JUSTIN MENTIONED THE ERP.

WE'RE GOING OUT TO THE MARKET NOW PURCHASING AND WE'LL BE SELECTING A VENDOR FOR MULTI YEAR ENGAGEMENT THIS SUMMER THAT WILL REQUIRE THE INPUT OF A FEW PEOPLE UP FRONT BUT THEN OVER TIME AS WE IMPLEMENT IT WILL INVOLVE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE THAT WILL HELP US CONFIGURATION THE SYSTEM TO MOVE US INTO THE FUTURE.

AND SOME OF THE CHALLENGES THAT WE HAD WHEN LORETTA HILL CAME ON BOARD FEW YEARS AGO WITH REGARDS TO BUILDING ACCESS AND SAFETY, HAVE BEEN LASER FOCUSED ON WE'RE IN THE MIDDLE OF A PROJECT PLAN NOW THAT IS ADJUSTING OUR SURVEILLANCE BUT WE'RE ALSO NOW TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE SAME EQUIPMENT THAT WILL BE -- OBTAINING EQUIPMENT THAT WILL HELP US TRACK COVID AND OTHER RELATED ACTIVITIES THROUGH SOCIAL DISTANCE MONITORING WITH REGARDS TO PEOPLE'S INGRESS AND EGRESS OF BUILDINGS AND WHERE THEY WERE WHILE THEY WERE THERE.

THE SOFTWARE IS EASILY CONFIGURATION CONFIGURED.

THEN THE CHANGE OF GOING TO SINGLE ACCREDITATION REQUIRES A LOT OF PROGRAMMING CHANGE WITHIN THE SYSTEM BECAUSE NOW WE'RE ACTING AS A SINGLE ACCREDITED WOULD HEED.

ONCE IT'S DONE IT WILL ACTUALLY BE EASIER TO WORK IN THAN IT HAS BEEN IN THE PAST.

WE WILL HAVE TO TAKE AWAY A LOT OF CUSTOMIZATIONS THAT WE'VE DONE OVER THE YEARS BUT WE STILL HAVE TO GO THROUGH THAT RECONFIGURATION PROCESS.

ONE ITEM I'M REALLY EXCITED ABOUT IS AS WE ROLL OUT THE NEW DALLAS COLLEGE WEBSITE WE'LL BE INTRODUCING FOR THE FIRST TIME AN ARTIFICIALLY INTELLIGENCE BASED MESSAGING PLATFORM THAT PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS WILL FIRST USE TO GAIN ACCESS TO INFORMATION BY YOU WENT INTERACTIONS WITH A CHATBOT AS OPPOSED TO JUST SEARCHING FOR INFORMATION ON THE 10,000 PAGES THAT WE HAVE.

AND THIS THEN THE LAST ONE PERHAPS SOMETIMES THE MOST IMPORTANT OUR DATA CENTERS IS OF AGE AND TO PUT IT KINDLY AS WE MOVE TO MORE CLOUD BASED APPLICATIONS, WE CAN SHRINK THE SPACE WE DAYCARE TO A DATA CENTER AND ACTUALLY LOCATE THAT INTO A FACILITY THAT'S BUILT SPECIFICALLY FOR THAT FUNCTION FOR LARGE ORGANIZATIONS WHERE WE MAY SHARE DATA CENTER SPACE WITH THE LIKES OF AT&T AND AMERICAN AIRLINES AND SOUTHWEST, AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF WHAT THEY'VE BUILT AND JUST BASICALLY RENT SPACE AT A FRACTION OF THE COST THAT WE USED TO HOST OUR OWN DATA CENTER.

THAT'S WHAT WE HAVE ON OUR DOCKET FOR THE UPCOMING HERE AND I'M WILLING TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS YOU HAVE.

>> AS WE CONTINUE TO INCREASE OUR ON-LINE STUDENT SERVICES AND ACADEMICS, IS OUR SYSTEM ABLE TO KEEP UP RIGHT NOW, AND IS THAT A TOP PRIORITY MOVING FORWARD TO MAKE SURE WE HAVE THE CAPACITY TO DEAL WITH ALL THE THINGS WE NEED TO AS THIS PROBLEM LIVE INDICATE?

>> YEAH THAT'S A GREAT QUESTION WE ON-BOARDED SOME OF THE TECHNOLOGY DURING THE MOVE SIX, 8, TEN WEEKS AGO WHEN WE WENT FROM PARSLEY ON-LINE TO FULLY ON-LINE.

THEN WITH THE VENDORS THAT HOST THOSE ENVIRONMENTS, WE ARE ON WHAT IS KNOWN AS A SCALABLE PLATFORM.

SO A LOT FASTER THEY CAN MOVE TO BRING US SERVERS, BANDWIDTHS THAN WE CAN DO WITH OUR DATA CENTER.

SO THAT'S ONE OF THE REASONS CELEBRATING OUR MOVE TO A DATA CENTER.

AWAY FROM DOING IT ALL OURSELVES TAKE ADVANTAGE OF WHAT'S AVAILABLE IN THE CLOUD.

AND THE MAJOR BARRIERS WE HAVE IN THAT ENVIRONMENT, THOUGH, ARE ACTUALLY BRINGING OUR STAFF UP TO SPEED WITH THAT CLOUD TECHNOLOGY.

SO BRINGING FACULTY UP TO SPEED WITH THE TOOLS THAT ARE AVAILABLE FOR THEM IN AN ON-LINE ENVIRONMENT THAT MAYBE HAVE NOT TAUGHT ON-LINE BEFORE.

THAT'S THE BIGGEST BARRIER THAT WE HAVE BECAUSE IT'S THE USUALLY NOT THE

[01:40:01]

TECHNOLOGY COMPONENT.

IT'S USUALLY THE PEOPLE COMPONENT THAT YOU HAVE TO ADDRESS WHEN YOU CHANGE FROM ONE WAY IDENTIFY DOING BUSINESS TO ANOTHER.

BUT WE'RE SATISFIED THAT WE HAVE THE TOOLS AVAILABLE FOR US.

>> IT JUST SEEMS LIKE IT'S BEEN A RELATIVELY SEAMLESS TRANSITION, AND I HAVEN'T HEARD A WHOLE LOT OF PROBLEMS, AND I'M SURE IT'S JUST BECAUSE THEY'RE BEING TAKEN CARE OF IN IT DARK OF NIGHT OR KEPT AWAY FROM US: BUT IT SEEMS LIKE IT'S GOING VERY SMOOTHLY.

>> THAT'S TESTAMENT TO THE STAFF WORKING BEHIND THE SCENES.

WE HAVE PUT TOGETHER TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR THE FACULTY.

WE HAVE DONE A LOT OF THINGS IN IT DEAD OF THE NIGHT.

OUR LARGEST CHALLENGE IS THAT OF STUDENT ACCESS TO TECHNOLOGY FROM WHEN THEY'RE OFF OF OUR CAMPUS.

SO THE STUDENTS -- I'M A MEMBER OF THE GROUP THAT THE CHANCELLOR ASKED KNOW PARTICIPATE WITH CALLED INTERNET FOR ALL.

AND YOU KNOW WE'RE WORKING WITH ALL THE ISDS AND LOCAL NOT-FOR-PROFIT GROUPS INCLUDING DALLAS COUNTY AND SOME OTHER GROUPS TO FIND A WAY TO GET ACCESS AND DEVICES TO STUDENTS.

BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH WEE DONE HEROICALLY EFFORTS WITH THE DISC AND OURSELVES, THERE'S STILL THAT GAP BUT NOT EVERY STUDENT HAS THE ABILITY TO DO ON-LINE INSTRUCTION IF THEIR HOMES OR THEIR SHELTERS OR WHEREVER THEY'RE AT T.

>> THAT'S OFF TO YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENT SO FAR AND KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK.

>> THANK YOU.

>> NEXT WE'RE GOING TO TURN START WITH ROB AND THEN HEAL KITTY KICK TO IT CHIEF HILL.

ROB MY TALK LIKE JUST A LAWYER, ROB WEARS MANY HATS AND HE RECENTLY HANDED OFF HIS HR HAT, BUT HE'S GOT RESPONSIBILITY FOR SAFETY AND SECURITY AND RISK MANAGEMENT AND ALSO THE POLICE DEPARTMENT.

BUT WE WANTED TO FOCUS ON THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TODAY WHERE CHIEF HILL HAS REALLY WORKED OVER THE LAST THREE YEARS OR SO TO UNIFY THAT AREA.

SO SHE'S GOT A LITTLE BIT HEAD START ON THE OTHERS ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT TO ADD?

>> YES THANKS JUSTIN.

WE IDENTIFIED YEARS AGO THAT WE COULDN'T BE -- WITH SEVEN DIFFERENT POLICE DEPARTMENTS.

THE EVENT OF JULY 2016 BROUGHT THAT EVEN CLEARER TO US.

AND SO WE ACCELERATED OUR EFFORTS TO UNIFY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT BACK IN THOSE DAYS BROUGHT CHIEF HILL IN, AND IN 2017 WE MOVED EVERYTHING UNDER THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY AND SECURITY, WHICH HAS BEEN VERY SUCCESSFUL.

SO THAT UNIFICATION OCCURRED ABOUT THREE YEARS AGO.

I'VE GOT CHIEF HILL ON THE MEETING WITH US AS WELL TO KIND OF TALK ABOUT WHAT WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH WHAT THE POLICE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH SINCE THEY'VE BEEN UNIFIED AND WHAT BENEFITS THAT HAS ACHIEVED FOR US AND THERE'S BEEN A GREATER THAN EVER FOCUS ON LAW ENFORCEMENT AND POLICING IN RECENT WEEKS SO THOUGHT IT WOULD BE IMPORTANT TO HEAR FROM CHIEF HILL.

>> THANK YOU.

THANK YOU ROB.

SO LIKE ROB SAID, WE UNIFIED BACK IN MARCH OF 2017.

I ARRIVED IN AUGUST OF 2016 AFTER THE EVENTS IN JULY SO SOME OF THE THINGS WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO DO UNDER THIS UNIFIED STRUCTURE IS OBVIOUSLY WE HAD LIKE ROB SAYS SEVEN SEPARATE POLICE DEPARTMENTS SO WE HAD SEVEN DIFFERENT POLICY MANUALS SO WHAT WE WERE ABLE TO DO IS BRING CONSISTENT AND COHESIVE POLICIES PROCEDURES BUT NOW JUST DO THAT ALSO LOOK AT BEST PRACTICES IN OUR INDUSTRY PROGRESSIVE POLICING PRACTICES AND RIGHT NOW WE'RE GOING THROUGH ACCREDITATION PROCESS TO LIVE UP TO THOSE BEST PRACTICES STANDARDS A LOT WHICH WE ALREADY MEET BECAUSE WE'VE BEEN WORKING TOWARDS THIS SINCE 2015.

IT ALLOWED US TO CONSISTENT TRAINING FOR ALL THE OFFICERS TO MAKE SURE THEY HAD THE BASELINE TRAINING, BUT ALSO LOOK TO SEE WHAT OTHER HIGH SCHOOLS TRAINING IN OUR UNIQUE ENVIRONMENT INCARCERATION COLLEGE DEVELOPMENT WHAT OTHER TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES WERE OUT THERE FOR OFFICERS CONSISTENT DELIVERY MODEL SO THAT OFFICES AT ANY CAMPUS SHOULD BE GETTING THE SAME LEVEL OF THE SERVICE.

HIGH END PROCEDURES AND STANDARDS WE UNIFIED THAT PROCESS RECRUITING STRATEGY, SOME CAMPUSES DID IT VERY WELL AND HAD APPLICANT POOLS IN THE PRIOR STRUCTURE.

SO WE WERE ABLE TO TAKE THOSE RECRUITING STRATEGIES THAT WORKED SOME OF THOSE

[01:45:03]

CAMPUSES AND DEVELOPED SOME NEW BEST PRACTICE RECRUITING STRATEGIES TO CONTINUE TO INCREASE OUR POOL OF WHEN I SAY DIVERSE APPLICANTS THAT'S THAT'S GENDER, THAT'S ETHNICITY BUT THAT'S ALSO DIFFERENT FIELDS THAT THEY COME FROM.

CONSISTENT PERFORMANCE AND PROCESS.

SO TO MAKE SURE THAT WE WERE REWARDING PERFORMANCE AND WE WERE USING PROCESS NOT NECESSARILY DISCIPLINE, BUT ALSO TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES WHEN WE SAW SOMETHING THAT NEEDED TO BE ADDRESSED.

SO CONSISTENT ON THAT LIKE TIM MENTIONED EARLIER WE TALKED ABOUT THE SECURITY FUDGES, ACCESS CONTROL, THE CAMERA STAPLE WE'RE WORKING ON IS A HUGE PUBLIC SAFETY AND I.T.

PROJECT NOW BUT ABLE TO GIVE SOME FOCUS ON THAT AND PRIORITIZE AREAS IN A MAKING SURE THAT WE HAVE MORE THAN WE HAVE FORCED MULTIPLIERS NOT JUST BOOTS ON THE GROUND, BUT WE NEED OTHER TOOLS IN ORDER TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE PROVIDING A SAFE AND SECURE ENVIRONMENT SO WE HAVE MEASURED OUTCOMES BECAUSE WE'VE ADOPTED BEST PRACTICES WE HAVE REPORTING STRUCTURES.

WE HAVE ANNUAL REPORTS IS THAT WE PUT OUT ABOUT OUR USE OF FORCE, OUR INTERNAL AFFAIRS PROCESS OUR TRAINING OUR PROPERTY ROOM SO WE HAVE SOME STANDARDIZED OUTPUT.

WE HAVE OUR RACIAL PROFILING REPORT.

SO WE HAVE SOME OF THESE DATA POINTS THAT WE MEASURED TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE MEETING AND WE'RE PRODUCING WHAT WE SAID WE WERE WE WOULD PRODUCE.

SO AND WE'VE IT ALSO OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT WAS CREATED DURING THAT TIME SO WE'VE ALSO WORKED TO FOCUS A UNIFIED APPROACH WHEN IT COMES TO SOMETHING LIKE COVID ANYTHING LIKE NATURAL DISASTER IF IT'S A MAN-MADE DISASTER OR IF IT'S ACTIVE SHOOT OR SOMETHING ALONG THAT LINES THAT WE HAVE A CONSISTENT PROCESS THROUGHOUT THE DISTRICT WHERE EMERGENCY OPERATIONS AND EVERYBODY KNOWS THEIR ROLL WITHIN THE ICS STRUCTURE THE INCIDENT COMMAND STRUCTURE SO WE WORK REAL HARD TO FOCUS THAT ALSO CERT MEMBERS TO MAKE THEY HAD CONSISTENT TRAINING SO TO SPEAK ABOUT A LITTLE BIT ABOUT POLICY I KNOW THAT OBVIOUSLY THE MOVEMENT THAT'S GOING ON NOW FOR ANIS ACCOUNTING THAT WE HAVE SO SOME OF THE THINGS THAT WE'VE DONE, WE BAND -- IT'S BEEN PROHIBITED IN YOUR POLICY SINCE I'VE GOTTEN HERE SO THAT'S NOT SOMETHING THAT WE HAD TO DO WE DID LOOK BACK YOUR CIVIL DISTURBANCE AND MASS ARREST POLICIES, TO SEE IF THEY ARE IN LINE WITH THE BEST PRACTICES ARE NOW, AND TO MAKE SURE THAT IN RESPONSE TO WHAT'S GOING ON -- QUESTION OF OUR OFFICERS MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE DOING WHAT WE NEEDED TO DO TO BE PART OF THE SOLUTION TO POLICING AND PART OF SOLUTION IS TRANSPARENCY.

ALL OF OUR OFFICER OFFICERS HAVE BODY CAMS THAT'S BEEN A POLICY SINCE WE SAID HERE.

WE'VE BEEN SUPPORTED BY THE BOARD TO BE ABLE TO OUTFIT OUR OFFICERS WITH BODY CAMS. WE'VE ALL BEEN OFFICERS BEEN THROUGH DE-ESCALATION TRAINING.

WE CONTINUE TO SEEK OUT TRAINING IMPLICIT, CULTURAL COMPETENCY TRAINING SO LOOKING FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO CONTINUE TO DELIVER THAT TRAINING TO OUR OFFICERS WE HAVE UPDATED POLICY IN CERTAIN AREAS LIKE THE DUTY TO INTERVENE IS ACTUALLY IN POLICY NOW AND HAS BEEN REDISTRIBUTED BACK TO THE OFFICERS.

SO THOSE ARE THINGS THAT WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO DO IN RESPONSE TO WHAT'S GOING ON.

BUT A LOT OF THESE THINGS WHEN WE UNIFIED OR STRUCTURE IN 2017, WE HAD A CRITICAL LOOK AT THE POLICE DEPARTMENT FROM TOP TO BOTTOM, AND STARTED MAKING THOSE CHANGES TO MAKE SURE THAT WE WERE DOING WHAT WE -- WHAT OUR POLITICIAN IS, WHICH IS TO SERVE THE STUDENTS, FACULTY AND STAFF IN A SAFE AND SECURE BUT ACCESSIBLE ENVIRONMENT.

SO IF THERE'S ANY QUESTIONS, I WOULD BE HAPPY TO TAKE THEM.

>> CHIEF HILL, I HAVEN'T HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO TELL YOU THIS, BUT I THINK YOU'VE DONE AN EXCELLENT JOB SINCE YOU'VE BEEN WITH THE DISTRICT.

AND YOU HAVE BEEN CONSISTENT AND TIMELY IN ADDRESSING ALL OF THE ISSUES THAT WE'VE HAD TO DEAL WITH.

>> AND THINGS THAT ARE LOOKING TO THE FUTURE.

SO I WANTED TO TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY TO TELL YOU MYSELF THAT I APPRECIATE ALL OF OUR EFFORTS UPSET GOOD JOB THAT YOU'VE DONE SO FAR.

[01:50:04]

>> THANK YOU.

>> I DIDN'T WANT MS. COME TO KNOW TO BE THE ONLY ONE TO CONGRATULATE YOU ON SUCH A GOOD JOB, AND I'M HOPING THAT THE HUMAN TRAFFICKING INFORMATION AND SUCH IS GETTING TO THE GROUND WHERE WE NEAT IT TO MOST.

I THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR TIME AND YOUR ATTENTION.

THANK YOU.

>> THANK YOU.

>> >> WE'RE GOING TO SHIFT GEARS A LITTLE BIT AND JOHN'S GOT SOME SLIDE TO GO THROUGH.

BUT AS WE SAID EARLY ON, THE CHALLENGE NOW IS TO UNIFY ALL OF THESE AREAS SO I'LL GO BACK TO TRUSTEE WILLIAMS' QUESTIONS THAT HE'S ASKED MANY TIMES OVER THE LAST DOZEN OR SO YEARS OF DO WE NEED SEVEN OF EVERYTHING AND SO THAT IS THE CHALLENGE NOW OF TO PULL TOGETHER.

JOHN'S GOING TO BE TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT SEMESTER EFFICIENCIES AND LOOK INVESTMENTS THAT CAN BE MADE.

>> MANY THINGS ARE MOVING FORWARD SINCE -- WE FOUND OURS IN A POSITION WHERE WE HAD TO START AS ONE VOICE.

SO ONE OF THE THINGS WE'VE ALWAYS LOOKED AT IS ALL THIS SHIFT TO DALLAS COLLEGE ALLOWS US TO BETTER MEET THE NEEDS OF OUR STUDENTS.

WHAT THAT REALLY MEANS IS WE'RE GOING TO BE CLOSER TO STUDENTS, CLOSER TO COMMUNITY BECAUSE WE'RE ACTING AS ONE ORGANIZATION.

THE BOARD HEARD STORIES OVER THE YEARS ABOUT DEALING WITH VARIOUS COMPANIES AND HAD TO DEAL WITH SEVEN COLLEGES AND THEN THERE WAS.

VOICE AS WE'RE GOING THROUGH THIS.

SO THIS PART OF THIS AGAIN IS ALL STUDENTS AND THAT'S WHAT WE'RE FOCUSING FOCUSED ON HERE.

NEXT SLIDE ALIGNING OURSELVES REALLY BENEFITS OUR COMMUNITY BY BEING ABLE TO TAILOR ALL THESE PROGRAMS. IT IMPACTS.

I'LL TALK ABOUT IN A LITTLE BIT HOW WE'LL LOOK AT REINVESTING SOME OF THESE EFFICIENCIES BACK INTO THINGS LIKE ADVISING STUDENT SERVICES AND BUILDING STUDENT PIPELINE.

I KNOW Y'ALL HAVE HEARD AT ONE COLLEGE WE HAVE 300 STUDENTS TO ONE ADVISOR.

OTHERS THAT.

HOW DO WE DEVELOP OVERALL STANDARDS OF WHAT WE'RE GOING TO HAVE THE WELCOME COMMUNITY SCHOOLS AND BOTH THE PRESENCE OF GRAPHIC CAMPUSES -- A LOT OF THESE PROFICIENCIES WILL HELP REDUCE MICROMANAGEMENT BECAUSE ONE OF THE THINGS WE LOOKED AT IS WE WENT THROUGH THE ORGANIZATION WHAT WE CALL.

HORIZONTAL ORGANIZATION.

WE'VE HAD MANY SITUATIONS WHERE TWO EMPLOYEES REPORT TO A MANAGER WHO REPORTS TO A DIRECTOR WHO REPORTS TO THE VICE PRESIDENT, AND BUILT INTO THAT IS THE IDEAL CONTROL AND BEST PRACTICES FOR THE SEVEN REPORTS.

BUT IT'S ALSO REDUCING THE NUMBER OF LAYERS BECAUSE FROM DR. MAY, WE DON'T WANT TO SEE ANY FURTHER THAN SEVEN LAYERS DOWN TO THE PERSONS IN THE ORGANIZATION.

SO THAT'S A BIG THING WE'VE BEEN LOOKING AT IS HOW DO WE INCREASE CONTROL AND REDUCE THESE NUMBER OF LAYERS.

WHAT THAT REALLY HELPS A LOT IS EVERYBODY'S GETTING THE SAME MESSAGE WHAT WE'RE SAYING FROM ONE VOICE.

NEXT SLIDE.

>> SO AS WOULD HE MOVE FROM THE SEVEN COLLEGES TO ONE, WE FOUND SOME EFFICIENCIES BY STREAMLINING AND AT THIS POINT WE LOOK FOR STREAMLINING OPERATIONS.

AND FROM THOSE OPERATIONS SAVINGS WE WOULD BE ABLE TO MAKE FURTHER INVESTMENTS IN MORE STUDENTS AND COMMUNITY FOCUSED OUTCOME.

NEXT SLIDE.

SO TO TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WHAT WE'RE LOOKING AT IS THE NET EFFECT OF THE

WHOLE ORGANIZATIONAL REDESIGN IS ABOUT 11.1 MILLION -- >> JOHN I'M SORRY COULD YOU GO TO THE PREVIOUS SLIDE, PLEASE.

>> SURE.

AND THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POINTING OUT THE COST EFFICIENCY THE MONEY WE WERE ABLE TO SAVE BECAUSE OF DIFFERENT MOVES THAT WERE TAKEN, BUT ALSO ON THE THAT SECOND LITTLE BLUSH THERE, THIS MONEY'S GOING TO ALLOW US TO FURTHER INVEST IN KEY CAPABILITIES AND THESE ARE KEY AREAS.

ADVISING BECAUSE WE'VE NEVER HAD ENOUGH ADVISORS FOR OUR STUDENTS TO MAKE SURE THEY UNDERSTAND ABOUT GUIDED PATHWAYS THE DEGREE PLAN, ET CETERA, ET CETERA, AND ELEARNING AS WE'VE GONE TO VIRTUAL LEARNING SISTER-IN-LAW DOING THIS COVID BUT I IMAGINE THAT'S GOING TO BE INCREASED STRUCTURAL DELIVERY MODEL.

SO THE VERY IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT WHILE WE'RE SAVING THESE FUNDS WE'RE ALSO ABLE

[01:55:16]

TO REINVEST IN THOSE KEY AREAS.

SAVING FROM THINGS WE NO LONGER NEED AND INVESTING THEM TO KEY AREAS THAT HAVE SINCE RESULTED, ESPECIALLY IN THIS NEW MODEL THAT WE'RE IN, WHICH WILL ALSO CAUSE US NOT TO RAISE TAXES BECAUSE NO ONE WANTS TO THEIR TAXES RAISED AND WE'RE CERTAINLY COGNIZANT AND RESPECTFUL OF THAT.

BUT THESE EFFICIENCIES THAT WE'RE REALIZING ALSO HELPS US INVEST IN A KEY AREA THAT WILL BEST -- SO THANK YOU FOR POINTING THESE THINGS OUT.

>> YES, MA'AM ANY OTHER QUESTIONS BEFORE I MOVE ON? THAT'S GOOD STAY AT THAT SLIDE.

ANY OTHER QUESTIONS WHAT HE WE'VE ESTIMATED AT THIS POINT OUT OF THE OPERATIONS AREA IS EFFICIENCIES OF ABOUT 19 AND A HALF MILLION DOLLARS, BUT WE'RE GOING TO TAKING AT LEAST 8.4, AND WE'RE STILL WORKING ON THESE NUMBERS.

THEY COULD CHANGE AS WE MOVE FORWARD IN PUTTING 8.4 BACK INTO THOSE STUDENT CENTERS AND COMMUNITY CENTERS, OUTREACH THAT WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE ACCOMPLISHING SCHEDULED MANAGEMENT ALSO IS WE HAVE BEEN EMBARKING AND STARTED SEVERAL PILOTS USING THE NEW PHYSICAL.

SCHEDULED MANAGEMENT ALLOWS TO US CREATE EFFICIENT CLASS SIZES BY COMBINING.

OFFER THOSE CLASSES THAT STUDENTS NEED AT THE TIME THEY NEED THEM, AND STILL HAVE THE EFFICIENCIES WE HAVE IF SPACE MANAGEMENT, WHICH IS VERY IMPORTANT ROLL.

I'LL SHOW YOU TOMORROW IN SOME OF THE BOND WORK THAT ONE OF OUR AREAS AND FACILITIES IS WORKING EITHER IN FACILITIES WITH TECHNOLOGY, HOW DO WE GET THE PROPER SOCIAL DISTANCING AS WE START TO MOVE BACK AND HAVING.

THERE'S ALSO A SPENDING CONTROL THAT'S IN THERE.

YOU KNOW THE FAVORITE WORD WE SAID IS IT'S -- HOW DO WE END UP ON SOME OF THOSE THINGS OF SOFTWARE SYSTEMS WE HAVE, OR OTHER TYPES OF COSTS THAT ARE GOING IN THERE THAT WE WILL SEE.

ABOUT 18.9, WHICH IS WHAT WE'RE TRYING TO ACHIEVE IN EFFICIENCIES AND STILL DOING THE REINVESTMENT TO BE ABLE TO HAVE A BALANCED BUDGET TO TALK ABOUT TOMORROW.

THOSE EMPLOYEES WHO MAY NOT BE THE ONES WHO ARE STILL WORKING, WE'RE SETTING ADD IF YOU WILL $12.5 MILLION OF WHAT I'LL CALL AN.

WE WILL DO THAT AS A ONE TIME PAR PAID THROUGH OR CARRY FORWARD THAT WE HAVE FROM YEAR THAT WE WILL BE LOOKING AT BEING ABLE TO MOVE FORWARD WITH A BALANCED BUDGET.

QUESTION.

>> 12.5 MILLION, WHAT LEVEL OF THE PARTICIPATION IS THAT NUMBER BASED ON.

>> I'M SORRY, EXCUSE ME?

>> WHAT LEVEL OF PARTICIPATION IS THAT 12.5 MILLION EXIT PLAN BASED ON? HOW MANY.

>> SOMEWHERE IN 250 OR 350.

>> OKAY.

AND I ACTUALLY USED A RANGE AND BECAUSE IT'S BETTER TO PUT ONE NUMBER UP THERE, BUT WE'RE STILL WORKING ON THAT PLAN AND WHAT THAT PLAN WILL BE.

SO THIS -- JUST WANTED TO GIVE YOU ALL A NUMBER OF WHAT WE'RE LOOKING AT TO HAVE TO SET ASIDE.

COULD BE LARGER OR SMALLER.

>> OKAY.

THANKS.

>> AND IF I MIGHT ASK, THE 8.4 MILLION IN INVESTMENT THAT IS THE SAVINGS.

[02:00:01]

>> WHAT WE'RE SAYING THEORY IS OUT OF THE DUPLICATED DIVISIONS THAT WE HAVE, WE ARE PUTTING SPECIFIC OUT OF THAT 19.5, WE'RE PUTTING 8.4 BACK INTO STUDENT SERVICE TYPES AND COMMUNITY TYPE OUTCOMES PROJECTS THAT WE WANTED SO THAT WE COULD GET ADVISING E-LEARNING, GUIDED PATHWAYS, NAVIGATORS SO ON THAT IT'S A REINVESTMENT BACK INTO THE ORGANIZATION SO THAT'S WHY WE'RE WORKING FOR THIS IS THAT NOT JUST WORRY ABOUT FROM EFFICIENCY STANDPOINT BECAUSE WE KNOW THERE ARE AREAS THAT WE NEED TO BOLSTER TO BE ABLE TO HANDLE THE STUDENTS THAT WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO TAKE CARE OF.

>> OKAY.

SO WE'RE GOING TO PLOWING THE 8.4 BACK INTO THE ORGANIZATION.

THAT'S NOT MONEY THAT THE GOING TO GO INTO A SAVINGS ACCOUNT?

>> THAT IS CORRECT.

>> OKAY.

THANK YOU.

>> THE NET EFFECT TO TELL ORDINANCE IS 19 MINUS THE 8.411.1 MILLION.

>> DOESN'T THAT STAY AT THE 19.5 IF WE DON'T PUT IT INTO A POCKET AS A SAVINGS?

>> ASK THE QUESTION AGAIN, PLEASE.

>> YES IF WE PLOW IT BACK INTO THE ORGANIZATION, IT MAY HAVE BEEN SAVINGS IN ONE MALES BUT IT WAS AN EXPENDITURE SOMEPLACE ELSE, CORRECT.

>> THAT'S WHAT WE'RE DOING IS WE'RE ACTUALLY MOVING EXPENDITURES FROM ONE PLACE TO ANOTHER PART OF THE ORGANIZATION.

>> OKAY.

SO AT THIS POINT THAT 11.1 MILLION IS REALLY THE 19.5 TOTAL, CORRECT.

>> NO.

>> NO?

>> NO.

>> IS THAT -- PULLED OUT AS SAVINGS THEN IT'S STILL THE 19.5 EXPENDITURES, CORRECT.

>> I WILL -- I WILL ANSWER IT THIS WAY IN THAT WHAT WE'RE LOOKING AT THE EFFICIENCIES WE WOULD HAVE NOT JUST TO TAKE MONEY AWAY FROM THE OPERATIONS AREAS BUT MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE REINVESTING IT BACK IN THE YOU'RE SAYING WE SHOULDN'T REINVEST THAT MONEY I WILL JUST AGREE WITH THAT COMMENT.

>> NO THE IDEA THAT YOU HAVE THE 11.1 MILLION AS ORGANIZATION REDESIGN THE 19.5 IS WHAT YOU'RE CALMING EFFICIENCIES AND THE INVESTMENT BE DROPPED BY 8.4.

THAT MAKES IT SOUND LINE IT'S SAVINGS.

BUT IF IT'S PLOWED BACK IN IT'S NOT MONEY IN A POCKET.

IT'S PLOWED BACK IN CORRECT.

>> CORRECT BUT THAT'S THE SAVINGS THE 11.1 MILLION.

>> CHAIR D FLORES: IT'S NOT MONEY WE HAVE TO GO AND LOOK FOR SOMEWHERE ELSE BECAUSE THESE ARE SERVICES THAT WE NEED OR POSITIONS THAT WE NEED FOR STUDENTS SUCH AS THE INCREASED NUMBER OF ADVISORS SO THERE'S A SMALLER FULL OF STUDENT TO ADVISOR RATIO SO IT'S A SAVINGS, SO SAVINGS IS REDIRECTED MAYBE A BETTER WORD TO USE REDIRECTED INTO SERVICES AND PROVISIONS THAT WE NEED IN DALLAS COLLEGE TO.

IS THAT.

IN A POCKET SOMEWHERE THAT WE CAN PUT PUTT INTO A SAVINGS ACCOUNT ADVERTISE PLOWED BACK IN, CORRECT.

>> THAT WOULD BE CORRECT.

I MEAN I DON'T KNOW THAT OUR LANGUAGE IS CORRECT FOR THIS.

BASICALLY AS WE SHIFT TO ONE COLLEGE, WE HAVE SOME AREAS THAT WE CAN CONSOLIDATE, BUT WE HAVE SOME OTHER AREAS THAT WE NEED TO INVEST IN TO SUPPORT THE ONE COLLEGE AND OUR STUDENTS UNDER THAT STRUCTURE.

SO IT'S SHIFTING FROM ONE TO THE OTHER.

SO YOU'RE CORRECT, YES, WE MAY NOT NEED IT I GUESS IN THIS POCKET GOING FORWARD, BUT WE DEFINITELY NEED IT OVER HERE TO MEET THOSE NEEDS.

SO WHILE -- AND I GUESS FROM A BUDGETING POINT OF VIEW, IF WE'RE GOING TO INVEST IT OVER HERE, WE NEED TO KNOW WHERE THAT MONEY'S COMING FROM SO JOHN'S SHOWING IT AS AN INITIAL SAVINGS SO THAT HE CAN INDICATE THIS IS WHERE WE'RE GOING TO GET THE MONEY WE'RE NOT GOING TO HAVE TO GO OUT AND INCREASE TUITION RAISE TAXES OR DO SOMETHING ELSE TO MAKE IT.

WE CAN TAKE IT FROM -- FROM THE RESULTING IF YOU WOULD SAVINGS FROM THIS AREA WHERE

[02:05:02]

WE NO LONGER NEED THAT SAME LEVEL OF INVESTMENT AS WE DID WHEN WE WERE 7 COLLEGES.

>> OKAY.

>> MAKE SENSE? YEAH.

>> THAT'S MY PRESENTATION.

>> VERY GOOD.

MR. CHANCELLOR.

>> THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

THANK ALL OF YOU VERY MUCH.

MEMBERS OF THE BOARD AND OTHERS, I HOPE YOU GET A SENSE AS WE'RE GETTING INTO THIS, THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WE SPENT A GREAT DEAL OF TIME PLANNING, THINKING ABOUT, DO WE KNOW ALL THE ANSWERS.

NO WE DON'T.

WE MAY NOT YET KNOW ALL THE QUESTIONS, BUT I THINK WITH YOU GUIDE US HIPPING US STAY FOCUSED, WE'RE MOVING IN THE DIRECTION WE NEED TO GO.

WE HAD A REMARKABLE YEAR THIS PAST YEAR WITH THE RECORD BOND.

THE ABILITY TO OFFER DEGREES AND THE CREATION OF DALLAS COLLEGE.

I THINK WITH THAT, WE BOTH HAVE INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL EXPECTATIONS ABOUT THAT WHAT MEANS.

OUR COMMUNITY IS EXCITED ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY FOR EXPANDED PROGRAMS AND SERVICES THAT ALIGN WITH THE NEEDS OF THE ECONOMY.

AND WITH THE WORKFORCE.

OUR SCHOOLS ARE EXCITED BY PARTNERSHIPS AND THE ABILITY TO EXPAND THOSE AND INCREASE OPPORTUNITIES FOR THEIR GRADUATES.

OUR FOUR-YEAR PARTNERS ARE EAGER TO LOOK AT A EXPANDED RELATIONSHIP THAT ALLOWS MORE INDIVIDUAL TO WORK ON A DEGREE, AND I THINK AS WE THINK ABOUT IT, AS CLEAR AS WE REALLY FOCUS OUR ENERGIES, OUR RESOURCES, OUR PLANNING, AND THE -- SOME VERY CLEAR AND UNIFIED WAYS THE WORD UNIFIED WE USE IT A LOT TODAY.

MAYBE IT'S BEEN OVERUSED, BUT I THINK WHAT IT REALLY SAYS IS WE'RE ALL ON THE SAME PAGE.

WE'RE ALL POINTED IN THE SAME DIRECTION.

WE'RE TALKING TO EACH OTHER.

WE'RE ORACLED WORKING COLLABORATIVELY AND WHILE THE SHIFTS IN TERMS OF WHO IS IN -- WE'VE GOT SOME I GUESS NEW PLAYERS THAT YOU'VE HEARD FROM TODAY.

TALKING ABOUT THEIR ROLES.

REALLY EVERY ONE DESIGNED TO BOTH LEAD US IN WHAT WE'VE BEEN DOING VERY WELL IN THE PAST AND THAT'S PROVIDING HIGH QUALITY EDUCATION TO MEET THE NEEDS OF INDIVIDUALS REGARDLESS OF THEIR PLANS, BUT ALSO TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE WAS SOME GAPS, THAT SOMETIMES WE WERE SLOW TO RESPOND.

THAT WE DIDN'T ALWAYS HAVE THE ABILITY TO KEEP UP WITH THE CHANGES IN THE ECONOMY.

THAT WE WEREN'T ALWAYS HAPPY WITH THE NUMBER OF GRADUATES THERE CRITICAL FIELDS OR THAT WERE TRANSFERRING SUCCESSFULLY OR THAT WERE ABLE TO GET THE TYPE OF HIGH PAYING JOBS THAT WE WANTED.

SO WHAT WE'VE REALLY LAID OUT TODAY PRETTY MUCH FROM TOP TO BOTTOM STARTING THIS MORNING AS I SHARED WITH YOU IN EXECUTIVE SESSION, THE GOALS OF WHERE WE WANT TO GO FORWARD, IT REALLY IS BUILT OFF OF THIS INCREDIBLE SET OF EVENTS THAT HAVE OCCURRED THIS PAST ACADEMIC YEAR.

YOU KNOW, WE WON'T HAVE ANOTHER LIKE THAT WHERE SO MANY BIG EVENTS OCCUR AND ONE RELATIVELY SMALL WINDOW OF TIME, BUT IT DOES GUIDE US FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE AND WHILE WE ARE NOT LOOKING FOR A COVID-19 CRISIS, FORTUNATELY, WE WERE IN A GOOD SHAPE BECAUSE OF OUR THINKING AROUND DALLAS COLLEGE THAT ALLOWED US TO RESPOND I THINK AS WELL AS ANYONE IN THE NATION.

I MEAN, I THINK THAT'S WHY WE'RE GETTING MORE INTERVIEW REQUESTS AND REQUESTS BY THE NATIONAL MEDIA AND OTHERS TO TALK ABOUT THE TRANSITION WE MADE IS BECAUSE THAT WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO DO IT WELL, AND REVERSIBLE WELL GIVEN OUR SIZE, SCOPE, COMPLEXITY, AND THE NUMBER OF BOTH EMPLOYEES AND STUDENTS THAT WE SERVE.

I'M PROUD EVERY DAY OF OUR FACULTY WHAT THEY DO IN THE CLASSROOM TO MAKE A TREMENDOUS DIFFERENCE TO ON THE LIVES OF OUR STUDENTS, OUR ADMINISTRATORS AND OUR STAFF.

SOLVE PROBLEMS OUT THERE ON A DAILY BASIS.

WE HAVE JUST CREDIBLE HEROES WITHIN OUR ORGANIZATION.

THAT I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT BUT MANY OF THEM GO UN-SUNG BECAUSE THEY'RE DOING WORK AROUND OF THE SYSTEM THAT WASN'T ALWAYS DESIGNED TO MAKE EVERY STUDENT SUCCESSFUL.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING AT TODAY AND I THINK WHAT YOU HEARD FROM OUR LEADERSHIP TEAM ALL THE WAY FROM ACADEMIC LEADERSHIP TO WORKFORCE INTO THE BUDGET AREAS AND OPERATIONS, AS AN EXCITEMENT ABOUT HOW WE COME TOGETHER TO SOLVE THESE PROBLEMS. SOME OF YOU HAVE SENT ME TEXTS AND CHATS TODAY, AND INDICATING THAT OUR FOLKS SEEM REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THIS.

AND I THINK THEY ARE.

[02:10:01]

I THINK IT'S FOR GOOD REASON, THAT WE ALL WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

WE ALL WANT TO BE ABLE TO ACT ON OUR BELIEFS, WHAT WE CARE ABOUT.

I THINK WE PUT EQUITY AS OUR NORTH STAR.

AND HOW WE ADDRESS INCOME DISPARITIES WITHIN OUR COMMUNITY AND I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT WE'RE BUILDING OUT THE TEAM TO MAKE THAT HAPPEN.

ARE WE THERE YET? NO.

WE'RE NOT.

AND WE'VE GOT SOME INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT DECISIONS COMING UP AS WE LOOK AT THE UPCOMING BUDGET WHAT WE'RE GOING TO DO THE NEXT ROUND OF DECISIONS FOR LEADERSHIP APPOINTMENTS ARE GOING TO BE CRITICAL AS WE LOOK AT MAKING SURE THAT WE HAVE INDIVIDUALS THAT ARE TRULY ABLE TO PUT INTO PRACTICE THESE VALUES THAT WE HOLD, THE FOCUS THAT WE HAVE BUT REALLY THE PRIORITIES THAT YOU'VE GIVEN US AS A BOARD.

SO WITH THAT, I JUST WANT TO THANK ALL THE FOLKS TODAY AND MADAM CHAIR, I KNOW IT WAS A LOT OF PEOPLE TO HEAR FROM, BUT HOPEFULLY KIND OF COMING TOGETHER IN ONE DAY COMBINED WITH THE GOALS THAT WE'VE LAID OUT THIS MORNING GIVES THE BOARD AN IDEA OF WHAT WE NEED TO BE PLANNING FOR, WHAT WE CAN EXPECT.

AND HOW WE CAN HOLD EACH OTHER ACCOUNTING FOR THESE TYPES OF RESULTS AS WE GO FORWARD.

>> CHAIR D FLORES: I THINK IT WAS A VERY PRODUCTIVE DAY.

WE'RE EXCITED AS I'VE ALREADY STATED THE DECISION HAS BEEN MADE IN TERMS OF.

EMPLOYEE GROUP PLAYS IN THIS TIME THAT WE'RE IN RIGHT NOW OF QUITE SUBSTANTIVE CHANGE.

ALSO CHALLENGES BUT WITH THAT OPPORTUNITIES I WOULD LIKE TO ALSO AS I'LL SITTING HERE IN TERMS OF OUR I.T.

TEAM MS. MOLINA, AND I'M NOT SURE I'M TRYING TO LOOK AT THE NAMES HERE.

I'M NOT SURE HOW MANY OF I.T.

ARE WITH US BUT THANK YOU SO MUCH.

I THINK TODAY AND REALLY THE LAST MEETING HAS GONE SO MUCH BETTER THAN WHEN WE FIRST BEGAN TO DO THIS.

SO THANK YOU ALL FOR KEEPING US ON TRACK AND SEAMLESS AS POSSIBLE T WITH THAT, WE'RE NO MORE MEMBER HAS ANY ADDITIONAL QUESTION OR COMMENT, THEN WE ARE ADJOURNED.

LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU TOMORROW MORNING AT.

THE ONE CHAIRING THE MEETING.

HAVE A GREAT AFTERNOON AND EVENING.

WE'RE ADJOURNED.

>> THANK YOU.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

>> IT IS 3:44 P.M.

AND THIS CONCLUDES THE DALLAS COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES WORK SESSION FOR JUNE 22ND I GUESS I'LL BE ENDING THE MEETING NOW.
