I, YOU KNOW, AS WE BEGIN UP OUR STUDENTS THE SECOND WEEK OF ONLINE INSTRUCTION AND I'M REALLY ENCOURAGED TO SEE HOW SUCCESSFULLY WE'VE MANAGED OUR TRANSITION FROM ONLINE FOR BOTH STUDENTS AND STAFF.

AND WHEN WE SAID IT WOULD BE A HUNDRED PERCENT, I THINK FOLKS REALLY WONDER IF WE CAN MAKE THAT HAPPEN.

BUT IT'S BEEN A REAL EFFORT BY EVERY SINGLE EMPLOYEE WITH WITHIN THE DISTRICT.

REALLY HELPING US MANAGE THE CHALLENGES AND SOME OF THE OBSTACLES THAT HAVE COME UP BUT OUR EMPLOYEES HAVE BEEN INCREDIBLY RESILIENT AND CONTINUE TO BE COMMITTED BY KEEPING THE NEEDS OF OUR STUDENTS AS THEIR MAIN PRIORITY.

AND JUST COUNTLESS EXAMPLES OF WHAT THEY'VE DONE TO REALLY ASSIST AND HELP OUR STUDENTS DURING WHAT IS A CERTAINLY A CHALLENGING TIME FOR THEM AS WELL THE SHELTER IN PLACE THE ORDER THAT WAS ISSUED BY DALLAS COUNTY JUDGE CLAY JENKINS.

AS YOU KNOW, IS CURRENTLY IN EFFECT THROUGH APRIL 30TH YET, AND WE WILL CONTINUE TO REMAIN FLEXIBLE DURING THESE TIMES AND WE'RE IN, JUST AS MUCH AS WE CAN BE CONSTANT COMMUNICATION WITH STUDENTS WITH EMPLOYEES AND THE BOARD IS A SITUATION CHANGES.

AND YOU'LL HEAR LATER ON SOME OF WHAT WE'RE DOING TO MAINTAIN THESE COMMUNICATION CHANNELS AS, AS WE GO FORWARD.

AND TALKING ABOUT THE VARIOUS TEAMS AND TASK FORCE AND GROUPS THAT HAVE BEEN WORKING TO ENSURE THAT WE WERE ABLE TO MEET STUDENTS€™ NEEDS IT€™S JUST A REMARKABLE EFFORT.

AND I ALSO WANT TO THANK THE BOARD FOR WHEN YOU GET INTO SITUATIONS LIKE THIS AND YOU LOOK BACK WITH A GREAT DEAL OF APPRECIATION THAT WE SPENT YEARS REALLY BUILDING A STRONG BUDGET AND A BUDGET PLANNING PROCESS.

THAT HAS ALLOWED US TO ABSOLUTELY BE PREPARED.

FOR SITUATIONS, LIKE THE CURRENT COVID-19 HEALTH CRISIS, YOU KNOW, CLEARLY, WE CAN NEVER PREDICT WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN THE FUTURE AND CERTAINLY WE CAN EXPECT OTHER EVENTS THAT WOULD OCCUR, BUT ENSURING THAT WE'RE A RESILIENT ORGANIZATION THAT CAN RESPOND TO SITUATIONS OF THIS NATURE WITHOUT HAVING TO WORRY ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT WE HAVE THE RESOURCES IS A CREDIT TO YOUR LEADERSHIP AND YOUR SUPPORT.

AND I, I TRULY APPRECIATE THAT.

ADDITIONALLY, WHILE WE MOVE TO ONE COLLEGE YOU KNOW THIS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ADVANCE OF OUR CURRENT COVID-19 BUT IT IS ACTUALLY PUT US IN AN IDEAL SITUATION TO ENABLE US TO NAVIGATE THE SITUATION AND A MATTER TO BETTER SERVE STUDENTS IN OUR COMMUNITIES.

YOU'RE GOING TO HEAR TODAY ABOUT HOW THAT WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO MOVE NINETY-NINE-POINT SIX PERCENT OF OUR COURSES TO ONLINE.

AND THIS COULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED WITHOUT NAMING DR LINDA BRATTY AS THE INTERIM PROVOST AND DR JOE SEABROOKS AS INTERIM VICE CHANCELLOR FOR STUDENT SUCCESS.

THE FACT THAT WE HAD THAT STRUCTURE IN PLACE, ALLOWED US TO MOVE VERY QUICKLY AND OUR OLD STRUCTURE.

AND THERE ARE CERTAINLY AS, YOU KNOW, ALWAYS CHALLENGES IN THIS PROCESS AND SOME INDIVIDUALS HAVE RESISTED MOVING TO ONE COLLEGE ARE, IN FACT OF ADVOCATING SLOWING DOWN OR PUSHING BACK THE CHANGE.

YOU KNOW, IT'S REALLY CLEAR NOW THAT WE'RE INTO THIS PARTICULAR EVENT THAT WE NEED TO MOVE FORWARD, AND WE NEED TO ACCELERATE IT.

THE, THE ABILITY TO BETTER MEET THE NEEDS OF STUDENTS IS WE'RE SEEING EVIDENCE OF THAT EVERY, EVERY SINGLE DAY.

I'M SURE IT'LL BE REPEATED LATER, BUT AGAIN TO SEE, WE ACTUALLY HAVE LOST LESS STUDENTS THIS SPRING THAN WE DID A YEAR AGO.

I REALLY THINK THAT STANDS AS A TESTAMENT TO WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE MAKE THAT PERSONAL CONTACT AND REACH OUT AND FIND WAYS TO HELP STUDENTS AS WE WALKED THROUGH THIS TODAY.

THERE'S GOING TO BE PLENTY OF OPPORTUNITY BOARD MEMBERS FOR YOU TO ASK QUESTIONS AS IT RELATES TO SPECIFIC SITUATIONS WILL HAVE THE RIGHT PEOPLE TO, TO SHARE THAT WITH YOU AS WE GO THROUGH.

WE ARE ALL IN A CHALLENGING ENVIRONMENT IN MANY ASPECTS, BECAUSE OF THE SHELTER AND SPACE REQUIREMENTS.

THAT HAVE BEEN MANDATED SUPPORT, REALIZES THAT STUDENTS AND ALL STAFF ARE UNDER OPERATING UNDER CHALLENGING CIRCUMSTANCES BECAUSE WE'VE HAD TO COMPLETELY ONLINE FOR INSTRUCTION AND OTHER, ONGOING OPERATIONS OF OUR DISTRICT.

WE WANTED TO LET, YOU KNOW, THAT THE BOARD IS VERY APPRECIATIVE HOW QUICKLY THE CHANCELLOR EXECUTIVE TEAM, FACULTY, ADMINISTRATORS, AND SUPPORT STAFF RALLY TO ENSURE THE STUDENTS COULD HAVE THE BEST LEARNING EXPERIENCE POSSIBLE IN A QUICKLY INSTITUTED ONLINE FORMAT.

WHILE, THIS HAS NOT BEEN EASY ON ANYONE.

EACH OF YOU, THE POWER THIS TO ASSURE THAT TEACHING AND LEARNING CONTINUES AND AS, YOU KNOW, STUDENTS ARE PRIMARY TO EVERYTHING WE DO, THEY ARE A REASON FOR BEING.

HOWEVER, BEFORE STUDENT EVER GETS INTO THE CLASSROOM.

THERE ARE MANY DETAILS THAT MUST BE PLANNED AND IMPLEMENTED BEFORE THEY ARE SITTING IN THIS CASE IN THEIR VIRTUAL CLASSROOM AND ONCE IN THE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT, FACULTY PROVIDES THE BEST LEARNING EXPERIENCE POSSIBLE.

SO, JUST A COMMENT TO SEE IF WE CAN ADDRESS THAT AS A, AS A HIGHER PRIORITY THAN WHERE IT IS NOW.

JUSTIN YOU WANT TO JUST TO PROVIDE AN UPDATE ON THAT AND WHAT WE'RE LOOKING AT WHAT THE PROCESS WILL BE TO PULL DOWN SOME OF THOSE DOLLARS AND MADAM CHAIR BE MINDFUL OF TIME, BUT, AS THE CHANCELLOR SAID, THE, THE CARE ACT IS A PART OF THREE DIFFERENT BILLS.

AND SO, THE AS WE HAVE DONE THE INITIAL ESTIMATES OF WHAT THE IMPACT OF THOSE DOLLARS WOULD BE ON US OUR ESTIMATE FOR ABOUT TWENTY-TWO MILLION DOLLARS THAT WOULD COME TO DCCCD BASED ON THE FORMULA THAT THEY PUT TOGETHER IN THE BILL.

AND YOU'VE HEARD JOHN REFERENCE A LITTLE BIT SOME OF THE THINGS RELATED TO WHAT COULD BE REIMBURSABLE EXPENSES AND, AND QUITE FRANKLY, NOT ALL OF THAT IS NECESSARILY CLEAR YET.

SO THAT'S WHY JOHN AND THE ACCOUNTING TEAM HAVE HAD BEEN MAINTAINING THAT LIST AND THAT ACCOUNT.
