HOWEVER WE'RE GOING TO ASK YOUR LIMIT YOUR TIME TO 3 MINUTES.
BEING WE HAVE MORE THAN 1 PERSON SPEAKING ON THE SAME TOPIC.
WITH THAT, I HAVE VICKY RILEY? YES, YOU HAVE 3 MINUTES.
I WOULD LIKE TO SPEAK AS A DALLAS TAXPAYER AND ALUMIOF NORTH LAKE AND ALPHA ZETA.
I WAS APPROACHED BY FOUR STUDENT AND SEVERAL OTHER STAFF OF THE COLLEGE.
THAT THE CHAPTER HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS. THE BIGGEST WAS THE CHAPTER HAD BEEN INVOLVED IN WHAT APPEARED TO BE A CHEATING POSSIBLE CHEATING IN THE LAST HALL MARK AWARDS.
I WAS STUNNED AND BEGAN TO INVESTIGATE THE SITUATION.
I WAS INVITED BY THE INCOMING OFFICERS TO COME TO AN END OF YEAR PARTY AND THE INDUCTION, I WENT TO BOTH.
AT THE INDUCTION MANY THINGS WENT WRONG, SEVERELY WRONG.
AND APPROACHED THE PRESIDENT OF THE COLLEGE AT THAT TIME AND ASKED IF I COULD SPEAK WITH HER IN A MEETING.
SHE ASKED FOR ME TO AIT UNTIL AFTER THE GRADUATION.
WHILE I WAS AT THE END OF YOUR MEETING, I WITNESSED BEING SPOKEN TO BY AN ADVISOR IN A VERY UNAPPROPRIATE MANNER, WHICH I BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION TO THE PRESIDENT IN THE MEETING I HAD WITH HER.
AFTER ALL THE THINGS I WITNESSED
[00:05:02]
I KNEW CHANGES NEEDED TO HAPPEN.I SPOKE TO THE OFFICERS AND TOLD THEM TO DO WHAT THEY CHOSE TO DO BUT THAT I SUGGESTED THAT THEY WOULD LOOK AT THEY BYLAWS.
THEY STATED THEY COULD REMOVE THEIR ADVISORS.
I SUGGESTED THEY DO WHAT THEY NEEDED TO DO.
AND SO THEY WENT ABOUT HAVING THE TALKING TO SOMEONE IN POSSIBLY REMOVING THEIR ADVISORS.
I HAD A MEETING WITH THE PRESIDENT AND THE STUDENTS HAD SET UP A MEETING WITH THE VP OF STUDENTS, DR. FLOYD.
AND AT THE END OF MORE MEETING, I TOLD HER I WAS PLANNING ONGOING TO THE MEETING WITH DR. FLOYD.
IN ORDER TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY WERE HELPED IN THAT MEETING.
I OFFERED TO GO TO THE MEETING.
THE PRESIDENT WAS AWARE I WAS PLANNING ON GOING.
I WAS TOLD I WAS UNINVITED AFTER INVITED TOTHE MEETING.
THE AGENDA OF THE MEETING OF THE CHANGED SO THE ADVISORS COULD SAY IN PLACE.
IT WAS CONSIDERED A BYLAWS MEETING.
THEY INVITED INTERNATIONAL IN.
AND TO COME IN AND HELP WITH THE MEETING.
IN ORDER TO MAKE SURE THE ADVISORS WERE TO STAY IN PLACE --
>> CHAIR D. FLORES: MS. RILEY, YOUR TIME IS UP.
>> CHAIR D. FLORES: THE NEXT SPEAKER IS LEWIS FUENTS.
>> HELLO, EVERYONE, MY NAME IS LOUIS FUWENTATIZE.
I WOULD LIKE TO SPEAK TO AN EEVENT THAT HAPPENED AT A NORTH LAKE MEMBER. I WAS HARASSED, THREATENED, DISCRIMINATED AND RETALIATED AGAINST BY DR. SHERRY BOID, WHO IS AN EMPLOYEE OF THE COLLEGE.
I SAT IN THE FRONT OF THE ROOM.
IEST WAITING FOR THE MEETING TO START.
I WALKED IN WITH THE OFFICERS, I'M FRIENDS WITH ALL OF THEM.
AND SHERRY BOYD FIRST THING IS YELLED FROM THE BACK OF THE ROOM, ANYONE WHO WAS NOT A MEMBER NEEDED TO LEAVE THE ROOM.
A COUPLE OF THE MEMBERS LOOKED CONFUSED.
THEY HEARD PROVISIONAL MEMBERSHIP IS A THING IN FIBETA KAPPA, I DID NOT LEAVE.
THE MEETING WAS OPEN PUBLICLY, ANNOUNCED ON SOCIAL MEDIA.
EVERYONE IS INVITED INCLUDING PROVISIONAL MEMBERS.
I SAID, I DO NOT HAVE TO LEAVE BECAUSE I WAS INVITED.
AND SHE SAID I DO NOT WANT YOU HERE.
I ASKED WHY YOU HAVE A PERSONAL VENDETTA.
IT LED TO HER STORMING OUT OF THE ROOM WITH THE OFFICERS.
I WAS TOLD THE POLICE WOULD BE CALLED ON MY TO TAKE MY OUT OF THE OOM FOR SUCH EVENTS.
AND LATER ON SHE CAME UP AND DEMANDED I APOLOGIZE FOR DISRESPECTING HER.
BECAUSE I -- WHEN SHE SAID SHE WANTED TO TALK TO ME ALONE, I SAID I'M RECORDING YOU.
I HAVE VIDEO RECORDING, AUDIO RECORDING I HAVE TO TURN IT.
I TURNED IN AN OFFICIAL STATEMENT WITH THE JUDICIAL AFFAIRS OFFICER AND HAD A MEETING WITH THE PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT OF INSTRUCTION TO LET THEM KNOW.
I TOLD THEM I WOULD SPEAK ON MY BEHALF AS A EMPLOYEE AND STUDENT OF THE COLLEGE, I WAS HARASSED, THREATENED WITH BEING SUEDISM RETALIATED AGAINST BECAUSE I HAVE BROUGHT UP REPORTS TO THE COLLEGE ADMINISTRATION AND OFFICERS ABOUT THE CHEATING THAT HAS GONE ON IN THE ALPHA ZETA CHAPTER OF VARIOUS BREAKING OF BYLAWS RULE BOOKS IN THE LAST YEAR.
IT'S ABOUT WANTING A FRESH START AND HONORING THE INTEGRITY.
IN THAT MEETING WITH CHRIS AND SHONDA FLOYD, THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO GETTING BACK TO ME.
THAT LED TO THEM REMOVING UR CHAPTER STATUS TO A RECOGNITION
[00:10:02]
STATUS MEANING NO MORE OFFICERS, TEAM MEETINGS AND HALL MARKS.IT WAS DISHARDENING BUT BECAUSE IT FELT I WAS GOING TO MY COLLEGE FOR PRESIDENT.
I HAVE THIS DOCUMENTATION I WOULD LIKE TO LEAVE.
>> CHAIR D. FLORES: THANK YOU SO MUCH.
THANK YOU FOR APPROACHING THE BOARD.
YOU CAN LEAVE THE DOCUMENTATION.
MY APOLOGIES IF I MISPRONOUNCE THE NAME.
>> GOOD AFTERNOON, FIRST AND FOREMOST, I WOULD LIKE TO A THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.
I'M THE ORMER V.P. OF FELLOWSHIP.
I WOULD LIKE TO EXPRESS MY DEEP SADNESS IN REGARDS TO THE CURRENT STATUS OF OUR CHAPTER.
YOU MIND IF I HAVE SOMEONE DO THIS FOR ME?
>> CHAIR D. FLORES: THAT'S ACCEPTABLE.
>> I'M THE FORMER VP AT FELLOWSHIP TO EXPRESS MY DEEP SADINOUS, RECOGNITION AT ALPHA ZETA KAPPA.
A PROGRAM HONOR STUDENTS CAN MENTOR PEERS SO THEY CAN ACHIEVE ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE.
EACH OF MY FRIENDS HAS THEIR OWN STORIES HOW IT'S SAVED THEM.
PUT ME INTO EEP DEPRESSION, I HOPED THINGS WOULD CHANGE FOR THE BETTER.
IN THE FIRST FEW WEEKS I CONTINUED MY ISOLATION, NOT KNOWING WHICH CLUBS TO JOIN TO MEET PEOPLE.
MY SELF-ESTEEM DROPPED AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS I HEARD ABOUT THE HONOR SOCIETIES ON A CAMPUS.
I'VE BEEN SCHOLARLY BUT MY GRADES SUFFERED IN THE HIGH SCHOOL.
AND I THOUGHT ZETA CAN HELP ME BECOME THE HONOR STUDENT I WANTED TO BE.
I ATTENDED MY FIRST MEETING WHEN I WAS A SHY GIRL.
I BEGAN TO OPEN UP, MY CONFIDENCE WAS RESTORED AND CONNECTING WITH MORE AND MORE PEOPLE.
I WAS COMFORTABLE SHARING IDEAS AND RUNNING FOR OFFICE.
THIS WOULD OT HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE IF I DIDN'T ENGAGE IN IDEAS OF PROJECTS OF ALPHA ZETA.
WITHOUT THIS ORGANIZATION AND THE FRIENDS I GAINED I WOULD BE THE NEW GIRL WHOSE CONFIDENCE WAS SO SHAKEN.
IT WOULD BE A GREAT MISTAKE TO STRIP OTHER STUDENTS FROM THE OPPORTUNITIES I HAD.
ALPHA ZETA AIDA, ACADEMICALLY AND OCIALLY.
THAT IS NORTH LAKE COLLEGE VISION STATEMENTS, TO BE A COLLEGE OF CHOICE.
STUDENTS LOSE ACCESS TO MULTIPLE CHOICE, STUNNING THEIR GROWTH.
CHOICES TO BLOSSOM INTO LEADERS.
CHOICES THAT WILL LET THEM IMPACT THEIR COMMUNITY.
AS A OPPORTUNITY ABLE TO MAKE SHOWS CHOICES I'M MAKING THE CHOICE TO ADVOCATE FOR ME PEERS.
TO PLEAD WITH YOU ALL TO ALLOW OUR CHAPTER A FINAL OPPORTUNITY TO PROVE WE CAN REBUILD AND MAINTAIN ITS LEGACY.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION.
>> CHAIR D. FLORES: THANK YOU, FOR READING THE STATEMENT FOR HER.
MY NAME IS [INDISCERNIBLE] GOING TO SPEAK ON BEHALF OF MY EXPERIENCE AS [INDISCERNIBLE] SAID, I'M A MEMBER.
I CAME TO THIS COUNTRY SIX YEARS AGO TO BECOME SOMETHING BIGGER THAN MYSELF.
SOMETHING THAT CAN EXPAND MY NETWORK AND HELP ME BECOME A MAN WHO TAKE CARE OF THOSES WHO APPRECIATES.
WHEN I CAME TO NORTH LAKE COLLEGE [INDISCERNIBLE] FROM THE STORIES I HEAR FROM MY TUTORS, I WAS EXCITED ABOUT JOINING THE ORGANIZATION, BECOMING AN OFFICER AND WORKING ON PROJECTS.
THESE CHAPTERS MEAN SO MUCH NOT ONLY BECAUSE OF THE OPPORTUNITY GIVEN FROM SCHOLARSHIPS BUT ALSO BECAUSE OF BEING ABLE O MEET SO MANY PEOPLE AND BEING ABLE TO BECOME FRIENDS.
WORKING FOR [INDISCERNIBLE] IMPACT OUR SOCIETY AND COLLEGE AND BEING ABLE TO COMMUNICATE WITH ORGANIZATIONS AND EXPERIENCE EVENTS [INDISCERNIBLE].
WE DON'T AGREE WITH THE CHAPTER BEING MOVED TO RECOGNITION STATUS IF THERE IS SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES.
IT MAY NOT BE OPPORTUNITIES FOR
[00:15:02]
MEMBERS TO CONNECT WITH OTHER PEOPLE [INDISCERNIBLE] OR BUILD LONG LASTING FRIENDSHIPS.[INDISCERNIBLE] IT WOULD NOT ONLY AFFECT ME AND MY FRIENDS BUT MEMBERS AND PEOPLE INTERESTED IN JOINING DURING THEIR FIRST YEAR OF COLLEGE.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR TIME.
>> CHAIR D. FLORES: THANK YOU.
>> CHAIR D. FLORES: SPEAK INTO SOME AM MICROPHONE.
[INDISCERNIBLE] MEMBERSHIP ALPHA ZETA AIDA, 2018 AND 2019.
I PRETTY MUCH WORK WITH ALL OF THE OFFICERS THIS YEAR ON THE BOARD.
I'VE GOTTEN TO PERSONALLY KNOW THE ELECTED OFFICERS.
NOT ONLY THROUGH THE 2018, 2019, BUT ALSO THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE SUMMER.
WORKING WITH THE PAST OFFICERS NOT ONLY TAUGHT ME HOW TO BECOME A LEADER IN COMMITMENT, BUT ALSO HOW MUCH OF A FAMILY THEY WERE.
TO ME, ALPHA ZETA AIDA IS MY SECOND FAMILY [INDISCERNIBLE] GOING TO CATALYST WITH THE OFFICERS AND THE CARES MY FRIENDS, GAVE ME SO MUCH HOPE.
ALTHOUGH, WORKING WITH SOME OF THE ADVISORS WAS NOT ALWAYS POSITIVE, AS WORKING WITH MY FELLOW OFFICERS, THE CHAPTER [INDISCERNIBLE] ANYONE'S WORK ETHIC.
MY FELLOW ELECTED OFFICERS AND I WORK TOGETHER IN THE SUMMER TO BUILD TEAM WORK IN THE DCCCD RETREAT.
THAT'S HOW WE ALL GOT TO KNOW EACH OTHER AND BECOME FRIENDS.
AS LEADERS, AND I GOT TO KNOW AND SPEND TIME WITH EVERY SINGLE OFFICER.
WE WORKED TOGETHER TO FIGURE OUT MEETING TIME, AGENDAS, WE WERE WORK ON THE SEARCH FOR PROJECTS LIKE COLLEGE PROJECT.
WE SPEND SO MANY HOURS TOGETHER GETTING TO KNOW EACH OTHER.
UNFORTUNATELY, I DO NOT GET THE CHANCE TO BUILD THAT SENSE OF COMMUNITY OR FAMILY TO OTHER STUDENTS ON CAMPUS.
[INDISCERNIBLE] ME AND MY FELLOW OFFICERS HAVE FELT.
AND TO PUT THE SMILE ON THE FACES [INDISCERNIBLE] THAT WERE PART OF IT.
I AM PART OF SOMETHING GREATER.
AND I WILL MAKE AN -- I WANTED TO MAKE AN IMPACT ON THE COMMUNITY, WHICH IS THE REASON I DECIDED TO BECOME THE VICE PRESIDENT OF SCHOLARSHIP.
IT IS WITH A SAD AND HEAVY HEART THE CHAPTER HAS CHANGED TO RECOGNITION STATUS ONLY.
WITH THIS, I LIKE THE HUNDREDS OF OTHER NEW MEMBERS WILL NOT MAINTAIN THE ALPHABETICAL ZETA STATUS.
I HAVE [INDISCERNIBLE] STARTING WITH A NEW TEAM ESTABLISH ABILITIES THAT POTENTIALLY HAVE TO MAKE A CHANGE IN THE COMMUNITY AND COLLEGE AND CHAPTER.
THE CHAPTER [INDISCERNIBLE] SACRIFICE BUT ALSO ETHICS [INDISCERNIBLE].
>> CHAIR D. FLORES: THANK YOU.
I APOLOGIZE IF I MISPRONOUNCE THIS NAME.
>> GOOD AFTERNOON ALL [INDISCERNIBLE] I'M AN AN ALUMF NORTH LAKE.
I'VE BEEN AWARE OF THE TROUBLE AND I BELIEVE IT'S BEEN TRICKLING DOWN.
AFTER HEARING [INDISCERNIBLE] 3 MINUTES I DON'T BELIEVE WITH WHAT I HAD IN MY MIND AND WHAT IS IN THIS LETTER, I DON'T THINK I THREE MINUTES.
IN SUMMATION I HAVE THIS THAT TALKS ABOUT HOW ONE OF THE FORMER ADVISORS WHO HAS BEEN PARAMOUNT FOR THE SUCCESS AF OF THIS CHAPTER AND WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A [INDISCERNIBLE] AND FOR AN ACTUAL MEMBER OF FIZETA
[00:20:06]
KAPPA.HER DEPARTURE HAS BEEN ENERGY NOT JUST TO ME PERSONALLY, AS A FRIEND AND ALSO IN TERMS OF JUST WHAT HAS CASCADED DOWN INTO THE LAST TWO YEARS.
I WANT TO REITERATE THAT WE THINK THIS CHAPTER OR GUESS IT'S RECOGNIZABLE STATUS IT WOULD BE A DETRIMENT TO COLLEGE.
NOT ONLY THE COLLEGE, THE REGION THAT IT REPRESENTS.
TO THE SUCCESS [INDISCERNIBLE] I THINK WE'VE ALSO NCOURAGED [INDISCERNIBLE] STAUNCH REPRESENTATIVE FOR HE CHAPTER FOR MANY YEARS.
AND ALL OF THE THIS IS -- HAS BEEN TRYING NOT ONLY ON THIS CURRENT CAST OF OFFICERS BUT ALSO PAST OFFICERS FROM SINCE 2017.
AND WITH THIS LETTER I WANT YOU ALL TO LOOK INTO IT.
BECAUSE I DON'T THINK ENOUGH HAS KIND OF BEEN DONE.
AND THE DAMAGE THAT'S TRANSPIRED SINCE THEN INTO NOW HASN'T REALLY BEEN SEEN IN A FULL SCOPE.
I REALLY ELIEVE THAT [INDISCERNIBLE] COMPLACENT IN ORDER TO ACTUALLY DO THE RIGHT THING.
NOT JUST FOR THE CHAPTER BUT ALSO FACULTY AND STUDENTS.
[INDISCERNIBLE] THANK YOU, I WOULD LIKE TO TURN THIS IN.
>> CHAIR D. FLORES: THANK YOU.

>> C. COMPTON: I NOTICED ON PAGE 42 AND 43 THAT THERE ARE A FEW ADJUSTMENTS FOR MONTHLY BUSINESS AND TRAVELING ALLOWANCE.
THE FIRST QUESTION I HAVE [INDISCERNIBLE] CERTAIN BUSINESSES AND TRAVEL ALLOWANCEP THAT WAS ASSIGNED TO A SPECIFIC ONES [INDISCERNIBLE] IS IT STILL DONE THIS WAY [INDISCERNIBLE] COMING TO US BECAUSE THEY ARE OUTSIDE THE BOARD [INDISCERNIBLE] THE ALLOWANCE [INDISCERNIBLE].
>> CHANCELLOR MAY: TREATING THEM ALL THE SAME, BUT THE ANSWER WOULD BE YES, THIS WOULD BE DIFFERENT THAN THE RANGE.
WE TALKED WE NEED TO MODIFY THAT GOING FORWARD.
>> C. COMPTON: THESE ARE MORE THAN THE TERM ALLOWANCE ALLOWED FOR THE --
>> CHANCELLOR MAY: THAT'S RIGHT.
THAT WOULD INCREASE BY 500 A YEAR.
BASICALLY APPLIES TO THE ENTIRE CLASS.
>> C. COMPTON: [INDISCERNIBLE] SAME CLASS OR DIFFERENT CLASSES?
>> CHAIR D. FLORES: BLE] TRUSTEE COMPTON.
DO YOU HAVE FURTHER QUESTIONS? YOU CAN COME TO THE PODIUM.
>> C. COMPTON: [INDISCERNIBLE] COUNCIL, WHERE IS THE BUSINESS AND TRAINING ALLOCATION FOR THE RANGE?
>> I'M NOT ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN.
I THINK IT WAS 250 FOR THAT RANGE.
>> C. COMPTON: YOU SURE? WHAT ABOUT YOU FOR [INDISCERNIBLE]?
>> I'M NOT ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN.
I DON'T KNOW IF THAT WAS 250 OUR 350.
>> C. COMPTON: YOU ARE NOT SURE HOW MUCH MORE?
>> AS YOU INDICATED EARLIER, THE POLICY SETS IT FOR A RANGE BUT IT GIVES THE LATITUDE UPON REQUEST TO INCREASE IT AS NECESSARY.
>> C. COMPTON: [INDISCERNIBLE]
>> C. COMPTON: IT'S IN THE POLICY [INDISCERNIBLE] POLICY
[00:40:01]
AND ON [INDISCERNIBLE] BOARD MENTIONS THE SAME THING AS [INDISCERNIBLE]?>> THAT I'M NOT CERTAIN THE RANGE.
I WANT TO SAY IT'S 250 GOING TO -- WE'LL HAVE TO.
>> C. COMPTON: [INDISCERNIBLE] ESPECIALLY IF [INDISCERNIBLE] EXPENSES MORE THAN 50%, I THINK THE JUSTIFICATION WOULD BE [INDISCERNIBLE] IS BACK UP TO REQUEST THIS TO BE DONE AND [INDISCERNIBLE] SUPPORT IT.
I'M NOT REALLY COMFORTABLE WITH VOTING IN FAVOR OF THIS UNTIL I HAVE ANSWERS TO THESE QUESTIONS THAT I ASKED.
I FELT THIS WAS REALLY UNUSUAL.
I'M SURE WE HAD A GOOD REASON FOR DOING IT.
BUT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THOSE REASONS.
>> CHANCELLOR MAY: OBVIOUSLY, RELATED TO WHAT -- SPEAKERS]
>> C. COMPTON: [INDISCERNIBLE] SAME CATEGORY WHO ARE NOT GETTING INCREASES.
>> CHANCELLOR MAY: JUST AS A REMINDER TO THE BOARD, EXECUTIVES IS A [INDISCERNIBLE] NOT REIMBURSED FOR THE LOCAL TRAVEL IN THE TEXAS AREA.
IF THEY ARE OUT DRIVING AROUND [INDISCERNIBLE] THIS AMOUNT PER YEAR IS VERY QUICKLY [INDISCERNIBLE] AMOUNT.
>> D. ZIMMERMANN: IT SAYS PER MONTH.
>> CHANCELLOR MAY: THAT WOULD BE 6,000 PER YEAR.
>> CHAIR D. FLORES: ALL RIGHT.
>> C. COMPTON: [INDISCERNIBLE] ON THIS ITEM.
I WOULD LIKE TO VOTE ON B1 SEPARATELY IF THAT'S OKAY.
>> C. COMPTON: [INDISCERNIBLE]
>> SINCE THERE IS A MOTION AND A SECOND, IF THE MAKER OF THE MOTION WANTS TO AMEND, THE SECONDER WOULD HAVE TO AGREE AS WELL.
>> CHAIR D. FLORES: WHO MOVED? DID YOU HEAR HIM? WE'LL NOW VOTE ON ITEM 7B1.
ALL IN FAVOR, SAY, "AYE." OPPOSED? ANY ABSTENTIONS? VERY GOOD.
[1) Resignations and Retirement]
"AYE." ANY OPPOSED? ANY ABSTENTIONS? THANK YOU VERY MUCH.AS YOU WILL NOTE, 7C1, DOES NOT NEED ACTION.
IT'S INFORMING THE BOARD AND PUBLIC OF THOSE WHO RESIGNED AND RETIRED.
[8. Informative Reports]
RETIRING WITH 25 PLUS YEARS OF EXPERIENCE WILL BE RECOGNIZED.THERE ARE NONE IN THIS PARTICULAR AGENDA.
>> D. ZIMMERMANN: AGAIN, WE'VE GOT RESIGNATIONS OF THREE POLICE OFFICERS.
IT SEEMS LIKE EVERY MONTH WE LOSE MORE.
I HAVEN'T SEEN TOO MANY ON THE LIST TO BE HIRED.
ARE WE DOING SOMETHING WE SHOULDN'T? OR NOT DOING SOMETHING WE SHOULD?
>> CHANCELLOR MAY: IF I MAY, THIS IS A CITYWIDE ISSUE.
THE LAST I HEARD, THE DALLAS POLICE DEPARTMENT WAS DOWN 700 POLICE OFFICERS.
WHEN THEY GO DOWN, THEY GAVE A SIZABLE SALARY INCREASE TO ATTRACT PEOPLE LIKE US.
AND MAKE IT MORE ATTRACTIVE TO GO THERE.
THIS HAS BEEN IMPACTING THE VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS THROUGHOUT THE NORTH TEXAS REGION.
THIS LONG-TERM SOLUTION IS TO SIMPLY TRAIN MORE OFFICERS.
THERE ARE ACTIVE POLICE OFFICERS CLUBS.
THE CHALLENGE COMES WHEN THE STUDENTS ARE READY TO GO INTO THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, THEY HAVE TO WAIT A YEAR AND A HALF TO TAKE AN EXAM.
IT CAN ONLY BE TAKEN WHEN YOU ARE 19 AND A HALF.
THAT CAUSES STUDENTS TO TAKE OTHER JOBS IN THE MEANTIME THAT ARE OUT THERE.
THE PIPELINE IS A CHALLENGE FOR THAT.
AND IT'S IMPACTING VIRTUALLY EVERY ORGANIZATION.
[00:45:05]
THE SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT SEEMS TO BE IMMUNE TO IT BECAUSE OF THEY GET HIRED INTO THE PRISON.AND CAN WORK THERE UNTIL THEY ARE OLD ENOUGH TO TAKE THE EXAM AND BELIEVE INTO THE RANKS AND FILE OF OFFICER.
SO THAT'S THE CHALLENGE TAKING PLACE.
AND THIS IS AN ISSUE ON OUR CAMPUSES WHERE FOLKS ARE CONCERNED ABOUT SECURITY.
WE APPRECIATE THE WORK AND THE EXTRA EFFORT THAT IS GOING ON AMONG OTHER OFFICERS AT THIS TIME.
[INDISCERNIBLE] ACROSS THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY.
