THIS IS THE FIRST 12 MONTH PERIOD WE'RE ABLE TO COMPARE HOW STUDENT RIDERSHIP.

FOR ALL OF CALENDAR YEAR 2017 WE HAVE 25,000 RIDERS IN.

IN 2018 LMOST 35,000 RIDERS.

THESE ARE STUDENT -- NNUALLY, YES, THESE ARE ANNUAL NUMBERS.

STUDENTS COUNTED WHETHER SPRING, SUMMER OR FALL, EACH TIME THEY ARE HERE THEY ARE COUNTED.

EAEACH SEMESTER IS A RIDERSHIP.

THIS IS NOT DUPLICATED COUNT.

THE PURPOSE IS TO SHOW WHO IS USING IT ANNUALLY.

WE HAVE A 34% INCREASE.

WE STARTED THIS PROGRAM IN JANUARY OF 2017.

THE SPRING SEMESTER.

SO WE'RE REALLY ABOUT MID-WAY THROUGH OF THE PILOT PROGRAM, THE ORIGINAL CONTRACT WITH D.A.R.T. WAS A THREE-YEAR POLITE PROGRAM.

WE'RE APPROACHING HALF-WAY THROUGH IN THE RIDERSHIP HAS INCREASED SIGNIFICANTLY WITH WHAT WE HAD.

TRYING TO LOOK AT WHAT [INDISCERNIBLE] WE GOING BACK TO LOOK AT HOW DID STUDENTS WHO USED THE D.A.R.T. PASS, WHAT THEIR RETENTION AND ARE THEY BETTER THAN THE OTHER STUDENTS? THERE IS A 4% INCREASE BETWEEN TH THE TWO.

AND WE'RE LOOKING AT THE FACT WE HAVE A FEW MORE STUDENTS [INDISCERNIBLE] AS I SAID THERE WERE ALMOST 35,000 STUDENT SAID SERVED IN 2018.

THAT ENDS UP INFLATING THE $9.5 MILLION THAT STUDENTS SAVED OVER BUYING A REGIONAL PASS OR LOCAL PASS FROM D.A.R.T. AT THEIR REDUCED RATE.

INTERESTING ENOUGH, FOR THIS PAST FALL 3,844 NEW STUDENT GO-PASS RIDERS.

WHICH WE DON'T KNOW EXACTLY HOW MANY STUDENTS CAME HERE BECAUSE WE REMOVED THE TRANSPORTATION BARRIER.

SOME NUMBER IN THAT THAT WE BELIEVE THAT IS THE REASON THEY ARE COMING HERE IS BECAUSE WE REMOVE THE TRANSPORTATION BARRIER.

IS IT ALL 3800? PROBABLY NOT BUT PROBABLY A GOOD PORTION.

WE DO KNOW UR STUDENTS ARE USING THEIR SAVINGS TO SUPPLEMENT THEIR INCOME FOR FOOD, HOUSING, TEXTBOOKS AND TUITION.

FROM MY STANDPOINT, IF STUDENT BUY D.A.R.T. PASSES ON THEIR OWN THEY WOULD SPEND THE $9.5 MILLION.

SENSE WE PICK IT UP FOR 2.3, TH THERE IS A GOOD RETURN ON INVESTMENT FROM MY STANDPOINT ON WHAT WE'RE SPENDING TO SAVE STUDENTS.

A STUDENT FINANCIAL WELLNESS SURVEY OF DCCCD STUDENTS AND STATEWIDE.

THEY LOOKED AT TUITION, HOUSING, FOOD, TRANSPORTATION AND TEXTBOOK AND ASKED THE QUESTION, DO YOU THINK YOUR COLLEGE MAKES THESE ITEMS MORE AFFORDABLE? IF YOU NOTICE, WE BLEW THE DOORS OFF THE TRANSPORTATION PART.

STUDENTS WERE HIGHLY [INDISCERNIBLE] THAT WE REALLY HELPED THEM WITH THEIR TRANSPORTATION AFFORDABLE.

ALMOST ALL OTHERS, INCLUDING I THINK THE FOOD IS A LITTLE BIT BETTER BECAUSE WE JUST STARTED THE FOOD ANTRIES.

I THINK THOSE WILL INCREASE.

EVEN TUITION IS [INDISCERNIBLE] THE SECOND LOWEST IN THE STATE.

I GUESS THEY DON'T -- STUDENTS SEE WHAT THEY SEE.

AND WE DON'T HAVE THE TEXTBOOK ISSUE RIGHT NOW.

AS WE START REMOVE BARRIERS, WE'LL SEE RESULTS OVER TIME INCREASE AND INCREASE THAT WE'RE HELPING STUDENTS.

WE ADDED A PARATRANSIT AND RIDER PROGRAM THIS PAST YEAR.

WE HAD A MARKETING PROGRAM TO INCREASE RIDERSHIP THANKS TO OUR MARKETING PEOPLE HERE.

WHAT WILL COME UP AND LOOKING AT TRYING TO NEGOTIATE A NEW CONTRACT.

SINCE THIS WAS A PILOT PROGRAM.

I THINK WE CAN WORK WITH D.A.R.T., NOW THAT THEY HAVE MORE INFORMATION WE HAVE MORE INFORMATION.

WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO NEGOTIATE A BETTER CONTRACT IN 2020.

THEY HAVE A LOT OF RIDERSHIP THAT GOES ON THERE.

WE TALKED TO STUDE STUDENTS IN PLEASANT ROAD, IT'S EASIER FOR THEM TO TAKE THE LIGHT RAIL INTO EL CENTRO, THEY CAN GET THERE HERE THEY CAN'T NECESSARILY GET OVER EASILY TO THE EASTFIELD.

IT DOES EFFECT TUDENT BEHAVIOR.

PART OF THIS IS CONVENIENCE FOR BUS DRIVERS MANY TIMES AND BEING ABLE TO MAKE URE IT'S EASY IN AND OUT FOR THEM.

WE TURN IT OFF ON A MONTHLY BASIS THE [INDISCERNIBLE] END OF THE MONTH, NOT BY OUR TERMS. WE'RE WORKING WITH D.A.R.T.

AND TWO, IT'S VALUABLE FOR INCREASING UTILIZATION FOR A PROGRAM.

WE WERE HOPING WE WOULD GET BETTER AND MORE ROBUST ACCESS TO THE DATA.

THAT IS ONE OF THE AREAS WHERE, PARTICULARLY, I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW EXACTLY WHERE THE HEAT MAPS ARE BECAUSE THEY CAN HELP US WITH ENROLLMENTS AGGREGATING STUDENTS AND INVITE THEM TO SPECIFIC SESSIONS BASED ON HOW YOUR CLASSTIME COULD BE SYNCHRONIZED WITH THE BUS SCHEDULE.

THEY HAVE TO DO THE ALGORITHM IN THEIR OWN HEAD.

WE WOULD BE MORE SUCCESSFUL IF WE CAN PUT THE TWO ALGORITHMS TOGETHER.

AND REALIZED THE COMMITTEE WORKED THROUGH THIS.

THIS IS A FAIRLY BIG [INDISCERNIBLE] WE HAVE A STEERING TEAM OF ABOUT 22 MEMBERS.

AND THEN WE HAVE AN EXPANDED TEAM THAT BUILDS IS UP ALMOST 50 MEMBERS TO PUT THIS ENOVER TIME.

THERE ARE SEVERAL THINGS WE HAVE TO DO AND WHAT THE COMMITTEE IS DOING NOW IS WORKING WITH PEOPLE OF OUTLINING FOR THE NEXT THREE TERMS. THE ONE WE'RE IN NOW, THE NEXT FALL AND NEXT SPRING, WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE BEFORE WE GET TO THE POINT OF GOING TO A PILOT A YEAR FROM THIS SUMMER, TO GO LIVE IN THE FOLLOWING FALL.

WHAT WE WANT TO DO IS BASICALLY TEST EVERYTHING, HAVE EVERYTHING READY SO WHEN FALL COMES THEY FLIP THE SWITCH AND EVERYTHING WORKS FINE.

THIS IS NOT QUITE FRANKLY SOMETHING WE WANTED TO DO.

WE WANTED TO GET IT IN.

THE COMMITTEE IS VERY GOOD WITH THIS.

WE'RE LOOKING TO -- FACULTY MEMBERS TIME TO LOOK AT THE DIFFERENT CHOICES OF MATERIAL, OPEN EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES AND EVERYTHING ELSE THEY CAN DO TO HELP REDUCE THE COST OF THESE MATERIALS ALSO.
