ARE WE GOOD? YES.

[00:00:03]

OKAY. GOOD AFTERNOON, EVERYONE.

[1. Roll Call - Announcement of Quorum]

I DO CONFIRM THAT WE DO HAVE A QUORUM PRESENT OF THE BOARD.

IN ACCORDANCE WITH CHAPTER 551 OF THE TEXAS OPEN MEETINGS ACT, I CALL TO ORDER THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF DALLAS COLLEGE FOR NOVEMBER ONE, 2022, AT 4:00.

THIS REGULAR MEETING IS BEING BROADCASTED OVER THE INTERNET.

AN AUDIO RECORDING AND TRANSCRIPT OF THIS MEETING ARE BEING MADE AND WILL BE AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC ON THE BOARD'S WEBSITE AFTER THE MEETING AT A LATER DATE.

[2. Certification of Notice Posted for the Meeting]

CHANCELLOR, CAN YOU PLEASE CONFIRM THIS MEETING HAS BEEN POSTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH LAW? MADAM CHAIR, I CERTIFIED THAT THIS NOTICE THE NOTICE FOR THIS MEETING WAS POSTED.

ACCORDING TO THE TEXAS GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 551.054.

THANK YOU. WE WILL NOW STAND FOR THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE LED BY TRUSTEE BOYD.

MY PARTNER, PAUL. I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ONE NATION, INDIVISIBLE, WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL.

WHEN THE CENSUS WAS RELEASED, SOMEBODY WAS SAYING, I DON'T WANT ANY OF THIS. BUT YOU GOT IT RIGHT.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU, TRUSTEE MAYOR.

BOY. ALL RIGHT. WE'RE OUR ITEM FOR WE DO NOT HAVE ANY CITIZENS DESIRING TO ADDRESS THE BOARD TODAY. IS THAT CORRECT, MS..

MOLINO? OKAY, GREAT.

NOW, WE'LL MOVE ON TO ITEM FIVE SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS, CHANCELLOR.

[5. Special Presentation: Associated Collegiate Press and College Media Association National Awards - Recognition of Dallas College Student Journalists]

WELL, IT'S MY PRIVILEGE TO RECOGNIZE OUR STUDENT JOURNALISTS THAT ARE HERE TODAY.

THIS MAY SEEM FAMILIAR BECAUSE WE'VE DONE THIS BEFORE, BECAUSE THEY WIN AWARDS ON A REGULAR BASIS AND MAKE US PROUD.

AND SO RECENTLY THEY RECEIVED 15 NATIONAL AWARDS AT MEDIA FEST 2022 IN WASHINGTON, DC.

OUR STUDENT JOURNALISTS WERE COMPETING AGAINST TWO YEAR COLLEGES AND FOUR YEAR UNIVERSITIES FROM COAST TO COAST, INCLUDING UCLA, SYRACUSE, HARVARD, SOME PLACES YOU'VE PROBABLY HEARD OF BEFORE, AND OUR STUDENTS GO HEAD TO HEAD WITH THESE OTHER INSTITUTIONS AND THEY WIN EVERY TIME IT SHOWS THE HIGH CALIBER WORK THAT THEY DO IN ADDITION TO THE INDIVIDUAL AWARDS THAT ETC., EACH FILLED CAMPUS WAS RECOGNIZED AS PART OF THE PACEMAKER 100, WHICH HONORS THE TOP 100 STUDENT MEDIA OUTLETS, ALL BASED OF ALL TIME BASED ON A PACEMAKER AWARD WINS.

THE PACEMAKER HAS BEEN BEEN AROUND SINCE 1927 AND IS THE STUDENT EQUIVALENT OF THE PULITZER PRIZE.

SO PRETTY SIGNIFICANT WORK THEY'RE DOING.

AND CLEARLY NOW I'VE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO INTERACT WITH MANY OF THESE STUDENT JOURNALISTS AND THEY KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING.

AND SO THEY HAD SOME GREAT CONVERSATIONS, SOME GREAT INTERVIEWS, SOME GREAT DIALOG WITH ALL OF THEM.

BUT THEY DO THAT THANKS TO THE SUPPORT OF OUR AMAZING FACULTY AND ADVISORS.

AND SO I'D LIKE TO ASK DAN TO COME UP TO THE FACULTY ADVISOR TO THE PODIUM THAT'LL SHARE A LITTLE MORE DETAIL AND INTRODUCE THE STUDENTS.

LAUREN THANK YOU, DR. RONAN AND MEMBERS OF THE BOARD, THANKS FOR INVITING US HERE TODAY TO CELEBRATE THIS GREAT STUDENT SUCCESS.

AND THERE'S CERTAINLY A LOT OF THINGS TO CELEBRATE.

WE JUST RETURNED FROM MEDIA FEST 22.

AS DR. LYNN SAID, THIS IS THE LARGEST GATHERING OF STUDENT JOURNALISTS AND ADVISORS IN THE NATION.

THERE WERE 100 STUDENT JOURNALISTS THERE, INCLUDING OUR GROUP OF 20 STUDENTS, AND THEN WHAT, FOUR ADVISORS AND 330 COLLEGE MEDIA ORGANIZATIONS WERE REPRESENTED.

THIS WAS A TRULY LIFE CHANGING OPPORTUNITY FOR OUR STUDENTS.

I CAN'T EMPHASIZE ENOUGH AND I KNOW YOU'RE GOING TO HEAR SOME OF THAT FROM THEM TODAY, WHAT THEY GOT OUT OF THIS EXPERIENCE.

THEY CAME BACK ENERGIZED, INSPIRED.

THEY GOT TO MEET THEIR JOURNALISM HEROES.

AND THAT WAS REALLY COOL.

I'D LIKE TO THANK THE PEOPLE WHO ARE HERE, OUR VICE PROVOST, JARVIS JONES, OUR CHAIR, DEIDRE JONES, OUR DEAN, DIANE AND RITA, FOR THEIR SUPPORT. AND I REALLY WISH SHE WAS HERE.

BUT DR.

BEATRICE JOSEPH, THE VICE CHANCELLOR FOR STUDENT SUCCESS, SHE PROVIDED THE ADDITIONAL FUNDING TO MAKE THIS MAKE THIS HAPPEN.

AND WE ALL WANT TO BE THERE.

WHEN WE ATTEND THESE CONFERENCES.

WE ASK OUR STUDENTS TO TAKE METICULOUS NOTES AND COMPILE WHAT WE CALL WHAT I LEARNED SO THAT THEY CAN SHARE THESE EXPERIENCES WITH THE OTHER STUDENTS WHO DON'T GET THE OPPORTUNITY TO GO.

THEY CAME BACK WITH A BOOK, A BOOK OF INFORMATION, SO OUR STUDENTS WERE ABLE TO LEARN ABOUT THE POWER OF PERSISTENCE.

[00:05:06]

FROM CNN JOURNALIST ROLAND MARTIN FROM 60 MINUTES REPORTER BILL WHITAKER, I'M SURE YOU GUYS ARE FAMILIAR WITH AND FROM JOHN QUINONES.

RIGHT. AND WE JUST SAW IT CONFERENCE DAY.

WE WERE ALL INSPIRED BY HIM AND THEY WERE INCREDIBLY INSPIRED BY HIS STORY AND EVERYTHING HE OVERCAME TO OVERCAME TO BECOME SUCH A GREAT JOURNALIST.

ONE OF OUR STUDENTS, I THOUGHT SHE WAS GOING TO PASS OUT WHEN SHE GOT TO MEET HIM, SHE WAS VERY HAPPY.

SHE'S NOT HERE, BUT SHE WAS VERY HAPPY.

THEY ALSO HEARD ABOUT WHY DIVERSITY IS SO IMPORTANT TO THE FUTURE OF JOURNALISM.

FROM ASSOCIATED PRESS, WHITE HOUSE REPORTER DARLENE SUPERVILLE.

AND THEY WERE INSPIRED TO DIG DEEPER IN THEIR REPORTING BY LISTENING TO LEGENDARY JOURNALIST WOODWARD AND BERNSTEIN ON THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THEIR GROUNDBREAKING WATERGATE INVESTIGATION AS PART OF THE PACEMAKER 100 YOU HEARD ABOUT.

OUR STUDENTS FROM EASTFIELD FIELD WERE ABLE TO GO TO THE WASHINGTON POST TO BE HONORED THERE.

THESE ARE ALL JUST THINGS OUR STUDENTS WILL NEVER FORGET.

BEFORE I INTRODUCE THE AWARD WINNERS AND OUR STUDENTS WHO ARE HERE TODAY, I'D LIKE TO SAY THAT STUDENT MEDIA PLAYS A VITAL ROLE IN THE FUTURE SUCCESS OF OUR STUDENTS.

IT'S PRETTY COOL TO OPEN THE DALLAS MORNING NEWS OR A FORT WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM AND SEE THE BYLINES OF YOUR FORMER STUDENTS TO READ THE HEADLINES THEY'VE WRITTEN TO SEE THE DESIGNS THEY'VE DONE BEHIND THE SCENES.

NONE OF THOSE THINGS WOULD BE POSSIBLE WITHOUT STUDENT MEDIA.

IT IS THE TRAINING GROUND FOR OUR STUDENTS.

THEY LEARN A LOT IN THE CLASSROOM.

THEY LEARN A WHOLE LOT MORE.

I THINK THEY'LL TELL YOU NOT A WHOLE LOT MORE.

I'M A FACULTY MEMBER, SO I DON'T WANT TO SAY THAT, BUT THEY LEARN A LOT BY WORKING TOGETHER AS A TEAM, RIGHT, AND COLLABORATING AND THINGS LIKE THAT.

SO LAST YEAR'S EDITOR, HARRIET WHO HARRIET RAMOS, WHO SOME OF YOU ARE PREGNANT, INTERVIEWED BY SHE GOT AN INTERNSHIP BECAUSE OF HER STUDENT EXPERIENCE TO THE STAR-TELEGRAM PAID INTERNSHIP THIS PAST SUMMER, AND SHE BECAME THE THIRD CONSECUTIVE DALLAS COLLEGE STUDENT TO GET A FULL TIME JOB AFTER THAT INTERNSHIP AT THE STAR-TELEGRAM.

SO THIS IS BECAUSE OF THE EXPERIENCE THEY'RE GETTING WITH US IN OUR STUDENT NEWSROOMS. SO THIS IS WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO.

WE LOVE AWARDS, BUT THE REAL PAYOFF IS LATER WHEN THEY GET THESE JOBS, WHEN WE SEE THEIR BYLINES AND WHEN THEY COME BACK TO US AND HELP OTHER STUDENTS SUCCEED.

ALL RIGHT. WITH THAT, I WOULD LIKE TO INTRODUCE YOU TO THE STUDENTS WE HAVE HERE TODAY.

FROM BROOKHAVEN. YOU'LL UNDERSTAND.

STUDENT MEDIA ADVISOR, JUVENILE IDEAL.

AND TRENT RAE AND TABITHA TUTOR.

IT. AT LEAST FOR THESE FOLKS.

WE HAVE BOOZMAN, MOORE, MCENTEE, MATTHEW FORT AND ROY MOORE.

FROM WHICH FACULTY ADVISOR ERICA EDWARDS AND STUDENTS BLANCA REYES.

ALIA AGUIAR AGUAYO.

I'M SO SORRY. JERRY WEISS AND SIMON PRUITT.

THE OTHER SPEAKER FROM EACH CAMPUS WHO'S GOING TO COME UP AND SHARE THEIR STORY WITH YOU.

BUT CAN I QUICKLY TELL YOU THE AWARDS? SO JUST TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA, WE'VE ALREADY TALKED ABOUT THE PACEMAKER, BUT I WANT TO TALK ABOUT THE INDIVIDUALS, BECAUSE I THINK IT'S KIND OF COOL WHEN THEY BEAT OUT THE HARVARDS.

IT'S REALLY COOL. SO INDIVIDUALLY FROM RICHLAND, WE HAD A FIRST PLACE IN THE NATION WINNER FOR BEST ADVERTISEMENT.

ALEX SORTINO.

FROM THE TABLE. WE HAD A FIRST PLACE DESIGN NEWSPAPER, FRONT PAGE WINNER DESIREE GUTIERREZ.

AND HE SPELLED FIFTH PLACE NEWSPAPER PAGER SPREAD FROM MATTHEW FOGG.

MATTHEW, ALSO, YOU SHOULD JUST PUT ALL THESE TOGETHER.

MATTHEW ALSO GOT SECOND PLACE FOR DIGITAL ADVERTISEMENT OF THE YEAR.

HE WAS AN HONORABLE MENTION FOR BEST GRAPHIC DESIGNER, SO HE GOT A TRIPLE 111.

CARMEN GUZMAN WAS HONORABLE MENTIONED FOR REPORTER OF THE YEAR FOR ALL TWO YEAR SCHOOLS IN THE NATION AND RATHER THAN DOWNLOAD FROM THE BROOKHAVEN COURIER WAS HONORABLE MENTION FOR PHOTO OF THE YEAR FOR ENVIRONMENTAL PORTRAIT AND YES AND THEN JERRY SPECK HERE.

EITHER WAY HE WINS THE PLACE FOR BEST COMIC STRIP OR PANEL.

HE'S FROM THE GRID FOR ALL THOSE 330 STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS.

THEY THROW ALL THEIR STUFF IN WHAT'S CALLED A BEST OF SHOW COMPETITION FOR THE WORK THEY'RE DOING THIS YEAR, THE ETC.

IN THE NEWSPAPER CATEGORY, ETC.

TOOK FOURTH PLACE.

THE BROOKHAVEN COURIER WAS SIXTH, AND THE RICHLAND ARTICLE WAS 10TH.

[00:10:02]

SO THREE OF THE TOP TEN NOT BACK.

THE HOSPITAL WEBSITE WAS ALSO THIRD.

OK. I'M GOING TO TURN IT OVER TO THE STEPHENS BECAUSE I KNOW YOU'D MUCH RATHER HEAR FROM THEM THAN ME.

SO FIRST OFF, WE CAN HAVE RAIN FROM THE BROOKHAVEN COURIER AS HE'S COMING UP.

MADAM CHAIR, IF I MAY.

SO, DR. LONDON, DID YOU SAY THEY WERE COMPETING AMONG, WELL, THE COMMUNITY COLLEGES, BUT ALSO UNIVERSITIES? YES, MA'AM, THAT'S RIGHT.

OH, MY GOD.

SO THERE ARE SOME PARTICULAR CATEGORIES, BUT A LOT OF THE CATEGORIES ARE ACROSS THE BOARD.

THE ONES THAT WENT TO 20 STUDENTS, ARE THEY SELECTED OR DID THEY? IS THAT SOMETHING THEY DO ON THEIR OWN? PRIMARILY OUR TOP EDITORS THAT GOT THAT OPPORTUNITY, THE ONES WHO HAD KIND OF DONE MOST OF THE WORK THAT WAS HONORED AND RECOGNIZED.

SOME OF THOSE WERE TEAM AWARDS AND SOME WERE INDIVIDUAL AWARDS.

SO WE WANT TO MAKE SURE EVERYONE WHO IS UP FOR AN INDIVIDUAL AWARD DID GET TO GO, AND THEY DID.

AND THEN THOSE TEAM AWARDS, WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT THE TOP EDITORS WERE ABLE TO GO.

AND I WANT TO POINT OUT THAT NORTH LAKE DIDN'T GET A NATIONAL AWARD THIS TIME BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T PRINT AS MUCH THIS PAST YEAR, BUT THEY'RE BACK GOING AGAIN.

WE'VE GOT A GREAT ADVISOR WORKING WITH THEM WHO'S A FORMER STUDENT JOURNALIST HIMSELF, AND WE EXPECT TO SEE THEM HERE NEXT YEAR.

WOW. CHAIR BRAVO TRUSTEES.

CHANCELLOR LENNON.

GOOD AFTERNOON AND THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HAVING US HERE TODAY.

MY NAME IS TRENT RAY.

I'M I'M FROM THE BROOKHAVEN CAMPUS.

I'M PART OF THE STUDENT NEWSPAPER, THE BROOKHAVEN COURIER.

AND ABOUT A YEAR AGO, I HAD KIND OF NO IDEA WHAT I WANTED TO DO WITH MY FUTURE.

BUT I JOINED BROOKHAVEN AND I DID A PHOTO CLASS, AND I MET ANGEL AND DANIEL RODRIGUE, WHO IS THE ADVISORS FOR THE JOURNALISM DEPARTMENT AT BROOKHAVEN.

AND THEY KIND OF JUST COMPLETELY CHANGED MY MIND ABOUT JOURNALISM AND WHAT I WANT TO DO WITH MY FUTURE.

AND BACK THEN, I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT A BYLINE IS, AND NOW I'M THE STAFF PHOTOGRAPHER AND CONTRIBUTING WRITER.

AND TO GO TO WASHINGTON, DC AND COMPETE IN A COMPETITION AGAINST UNIVERSITIES AND OTHER TWO YEAR COLLEGES.

AND I BASICALLY NOW I JUST WRITE STORIES AND I CAN TAKE PICTURES AND I GET TO DO WHAT I WANT TO DO EVERY SINGLE MONTH.

AND I GET TO WORK WITH OTHER TALENTED YOUNG JOURNALISTS WHO ARE VERY PASSIONATE ABOUT WHAT THEY DO AND.

OBVIOUSLY, MY ADVISERS, DANIEL RODRIGUEZ AND JUVENAL HAVE.

THEY'VE TAUGHT ME SO MUCH AND I PRETTY MUCH KNOW EVERYTHING I'VE LEARNED TO THEM.

AND I JUST COMPLETELY CHANGED MY MIND ABOUT MY FUTURE AND WHAT I WANT TO DO.

AND OBVIOUSLY AT WASHINGTON, D.C., WE LEARNED SO MUCH, ME AND MY FELLOW YOUNG JOURNALISTS WHO WENT AND WE HEARD FROM AMAZING SPEAKERS LIKE WOODWARD AND BERNSTEIN, WHO DID THE WATERGATE INVESTIGATION.

AND WE LEARNED FROM THESE WORKSHOPS WE DID ABOUT DIFFERENT VARIATIONS OF JOURNALISM AND JOURNALISTS WHO WERE IN OUR POSITIONS AS THEY CONTINUOUSLY WENT ON WITH THEIR CAREER.

AND THEIR EXPERIENCES KIND OF ENLIGHTENED ME AND WHAT I WANT TO DO WITH MY CAREER.

AND THEY HAVE TAUGHT ME SO MUCH JUST FROM JUST ONE WEEKEND.

AND AT OUR NATION'S CAPITAL, WE JUST LEARNED SO MUCH ABOUT THE JOURNALISTIC AND EXPERIENCE AND WHAT THEY DO AND WHAT WE WANT TO DO.

AND IT JUST ALLOWED ME TO LEARN AND.

HOW IT BENEFITS ME AND THE JOURNALISTIC EXPERIENCE ABOUT WHAT I WANT TO DO IN THE FUTURE AND INCREASE MY UNDERSTANDING OF THE JOURNALISTIC FIELD AND ITS RULES AND, YOU KNOW, BE BE A MUCH MORE PRECISE JOURNALIST AND PHOTOGRAPHER AS WELL.

AND. YEAH, THANK YOU SO MUCH.

NEXT. WE HAVE COMMON GOALS FROM THE ETC.

AT CIVIL. KNOW.

DON'T FORGET. WHICH I FI DOESN'T IT? BUT I. I WAS STANDING HERE.

I WAS MANAGING EDITOR.

NOW RIGHT HERE, I WILL MENTION I WAS REALLY.

FIRST OFF, I WANT TO SAY THANK YOU ALL FOR MAKING TIME TODAY.

I WAS REALLY OVERJOYED WHEN I FOUND OUT I GOT THIS AWARD.

AND HONESTLY, I DIDN'T EXPECT TO GET IN THE FIRST PLACE.

BUT THIS IS WHAT I HEAR.

THIS IS AN AWARD FOR ME.

IT'S FOR MY COWORKERS MORE MATT, RORY AND STEPHANIE.

THE ONES THAT CAN BE HERE TOO.

APRIL. BRIANNA.

NAT. NATALIE, OUR ADVISOR, NATALIE WEBSTER.

THANK YOU. AND ALL THE CONSUMERS THAT WORKED WITH US, ESPECIALLY MY BOSS, LAURIE.

[00:15:06]

BUT ALSO.

SORRY ABOUT THAT.

I DIDN'T REHEARSE THIS FOR EVERY FINAL DISPOSITION.

REAL HONORABLE MENTION AND PLACEMENT.

IT'S ALL BUILT ON OUR BACKS.

HAVING TO SPLIT THE AWARDS BETWEEN OUR LUGGAGE IS AN ODD TESTAMENT TO OUR PERFORMANCE.

AT THE SAME TIME, IT JUST SHOWS HOW MUCH WE CAN GROW.

SURE, I CAN WALK INTO OUR NEWSROOM, FEEL INSPIRED BY THE WALL OF AWARDS, BUT BEING IN THE SAME ROOM AS WOODWARD AND BERNSTEIN AND OTHER MEDIA BIG SHOTS SHOWS WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A NAME ON THAT BOARD.

MY NAME INCLUDED THREE CHOICES HARDER THREE AND I CAN'T GET ENOUGH CREDIT.

AND SHE WAS RIGHT IN THE FACT THAT GOING TO MEDIA FEST WAS A PUSH.

I READ ALL THE REST OF MY FRIENDS NEEDED TO DO THE BEST WE CAN.

THAT'S WHY I WANT TO THANK DALLAS COLLEGE AND EVERYONE WHO PLAYED A ROLE IN HELPING US GET THE FUNDING AND APPROVAL TO GO TO DC.

WORDS CANNOT DESCRIBE HOW REJUVENATED WE FELT WHEN WE WENT TO WORKSHOPS.

NOW IT'S TIME TO SHOW IN OUR NEXT ISSUE.

ALSO ON CLOFARABINE USE THE REAL MVP SETTING THIS ALL.

THINK. YOU.

NEXT UP, WE HAVE BLANCA REYES FROM RICHLAND.

SHE WON'T NEED THAT. HI, EVERYBODY.

FIRST OF ALL, I WANT TO SAY THANK YOU TO THURSDAY'S COUNCIL ON PROGRESS.

FLOYD DR.

EGGLESTON, CHAIR JOHNSON, HONOR GUESTS AND LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, EVERYBODY.

I'M SO GLAD TO BE HERE.

WELL, MY JOURNEY HAS BEEN IT'S A LONG STORY WITH THE DALLAS COMMUNITY COLLEGE BECAUSE ACTUALLY, I GRADUATED BACK IN 2016.

I TRANSFERRED TO UMD.

I, I GOT MY BACHELOR DEGREE.

THEY OFFER ME A FULL SCHOLARSHIP TO GET A MASTER'S DEGREE, WHICH I SAY YES PLACE BECAUSE I HAVE GREAT PROFESSOR AT THE DALLAS COMMUNITY COLLEGE AND THE FIRST GENERATION OF MY FAMILY TO GET A COLLEGE DEGREE AND PLANNING TO GET A PHD ACTUALLY PRETTY SOON.

BUT LIFE IS WEIRD AND IT TOOK ME BACK TO RICHLAND FOR ONE OR TWO SEMESTER MORE, AND I'M MORE THAN HAPPY TO BE HERE.

AND THE EDITOR IN CHIEF OF THE PAPER BECAUSE I STARTED THERE, THEY GAVE ME EVERYTHING I HAVE.

THEY MAKE POSSIBLE MY SCHOLARSHIP TO GET A MASTER'S DEGREE.

I CANNOT SAY THANK YOU ENOUGH, GUYS, EVERYBODY.

ERICA, YOU ARE MY SUPERHERO.

BUT I AM FROM MEXICO.

I CAME HERE 22 YEARS AGO WITHOUT DOCUMENTS.

SO FOR ME, THIS IS A HUGE, HUGE, HUGE STEP.

AND ONE ANYONE HERE HAS HELPED ME IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER.

MEDIA SAYS WAS AMAZING.

I THINK IT WAS A LEARNING EXPERIENCE NOT ONLY FOR ME, BUT ALSO FOR MY COWORKERS WHO WORKED REALLY HARD.

ACTUALLY, AT LEAST I REMEMBER BACK IN 2016 WE WON ANOTHER NATIONAL AWARD.

RIGHT. SO IT'S NOTHING THAT IT'S SUPER EXCITED, BUT IT'S SOMETHING WHERE WE CAN NO MAKE ANYTHING WITH THAT.

A BISON PROFESSOR AND OF COURSE, THE STUDENT MEDIA, WHO ARE SOME SIMON HALEY, WHO ARE MY MY SECOND HAND AND THE EDITOR, THE BEST EDITOR I HAVE NEVER HAD.

THEY ARE AMAZING.

I CAN NO HAVE A PAPER WITHOUT THEM.

I'M TRYING TO HELP THEM AS MUCH AS I CAN SINCE I WAS THERE BEFORE.

BUT SO THANK YOU SO MUCH.

I THINK THIS KIND OF CONFERENCE, THESE KIND OF TRIPS MAKE THE DIFFERENCE IN PEOPLE.

YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH YOU ARE HELPING PEOPLE LIKE ME WHO ARE FIRST GENERATION TO GET A COLLEGE DEGREE.

YOU ARE MAKING A HUGE DIFFERENCE.

SO I CANNOT SAY THANK YOU ENOUGH, GUYS.

WELL, AGAIN, THANK YOU ALL FOR FOR BEING HERE AND JUST KNOW HOW PROUD WE ARE OF DALLAS COLLEGES OF EACH OF YOU AND KNOW YOU'RE GOING TO GO OFF AND DO AMAZING THINGS. AND, YOU KNOW, ONE OF THE THINGS THAT I'LL SAY AGAIN, HAVING BEEN AROUND HERE FOR A LONG TIME, YOU KNOW, THE CONSTANT AND SO MUCH OF THIS AND SO MUCH OF WHAT EACH OF YOU SAID IS, YOU KNOW, ERIKA AND LORI AND DANIEL, THANK YOU TO OUR FACULTY THAT INVEST SO MUCH IN YOU, NOT JUST IN THE CLASSROOM, BUT

[00:20:01]

I KNOW THE IN BETWEEN THAT YOU ALL YOU ALL DO.

AND SO WE'RE LUCKY AND PRIVILEGED TO HAVE FACULTY MEMBERS LIKE THIS THAT THAT CARE AND GIVE SO MUCH TO TO OUR STUDENTS.

SO AGAIN, CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF.

THANK YOU.

SO WE DO. SO HOWEVER YOU WANT TO ORGANIZE, IT'S NOT SUSTAINABLE.

SO I THINK YOU CAN HAVE THAT.

YOU CAN GET SOME GROUND WORK. WHY NOT? OH, YES, I IT'S I COMPLETELY AGREE.

MAYBE YOU WANT TO DO LIKE THAT.

THE NEXT THING I'M SURE I WANT ANYBODY HERE.

I CAN HELP THEM GET STARTED.

ALL RIGHT. YES, ACTUALLY, A LITTLE BIT CLOSER TO THE FRONT HERE.

BUT I DON'T WANT TO COVER UP.

I DON'T WANT TO.

YOU. THINK.

OKAY. I HOPE EVERYBODY'S BEEN JUST A TAD BIT MORE SORRY ABOUT THAT ONE.

OH. PERFECT.

OKAY. HERE WE GO.

THREE, TWO, ONE.

ONE MORE. THREE, TWO, ONE.

THREE, TWO, ONE.

PERFECT.

GUESS JUST.

THAT'S ALL RIGHT.

YEAH. THAT'S HOW WE CAN REPLACE IT WITH SUBSTITUTIONS AND OTHER SPORTS.

BUT IT'S NOT LIKE YOU WANT ME TO SAY NO.

SO I KNOW YOU DON'T WANT TO HEAR YOUR MAJOR DIFFERENCE. YES.

[00:25:05]

YEAH. ARE WE READY? ALL RIGHT. WELL, WE WILL CONTINUE WITH CHANCELLOR IMPORT ANNOUNCEMENTS.

[6. Chancellor and Board Announcements]

CHANCELLOR? WELL, THANK YOU, MADAM CHAIR.

SO, A FEW THINGS I WANT TO MENTION.

I KNOW EVERYONE IS PAST THEIR HALLOWEEN CANDY HANGOVER, AND NOW WE CAN CELEBRATE DIA DE LOS MUERTOS FESTIVITIES. I WANT TO SAY I APPRECIATE THE STAFF THAT HAVE SUPPORTED, ESPECIALLY THE MARKETING STAFF AND OTHERS THAT HAVE SUPPORTED SO MANY OF THESE ACTIVITIES HERE. RECENTLY, THE CITY HAD A PARADE THAT TRUSTEE FLORES REPRESENTED US AT THAT PARADE.

AND THEN THERE'S TWO EVENTS AT MOUNTAIN VIEW, ONE EVENING AND ONE TOMORROW NIGHT.

SO APPRECIATE ALL THE STAFF AND THE MOUNTAIN VIEW TEAM FOR HELP AND SUPPORT THOSE FESTIVITIES.

ALSO WANT TO SAY NO TO AND REMIND EMPLOYEES THAT WE'VE WE'VE GOT THE THE EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT SURVEY THAT IS IS OUT THERE AND SO WE WELCOME YOUR FEEDBACK.

GOT ANOTHER WEEK OR SO FOR PEOPLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THAT.

AND AGAIN THIS IS PART OF OUR ACTION 2020 TO CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT AND WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU.

WE WANT THAT DIALOG, WE WANT THAT FEEDBACK.

SO I ENCOURAGE YOU ALL TO PARTICIPATE IN THAT.

AND AGAIN, YOU'VE GOT UNTIL NEXT MONDAY, NOVEMBER 7TH TO DO THAT.

ALSO, I WANT TO MENTION QUICKLY A COUPLE OF STAFFING UPDATES.

DR. JOSEPH COULDN'T BE HERE, BUT SHE'S GOT THREE NEW MEMBERS OF THAT TEAM, RAJ SHAH, WHO LEADS OUR STRATEGIC ANALYTICS TEAM, OUR DATA TEAM.

STEPHANIE HILL FOR STUDENT LIFE ENGAGEMENT, WHO YOU SAW EARLIER TODAY, AND ONE OF THOSE PRESENTATIONS, AND THEN CARLOS CRUZ, WHO LEADS OUR STUDENT WELL-BEING AND SOCIAL SUPPORT.

I SEE CARLOS HANGING IN THE BACK OF THE ROOM THERE, BUT ALL OF THOSE ARE KEY POSITIONS WITHIN OUR STUDENT SERVICES TEAM.

AND SO WE'RE LUCKY TO HAVE THESE TALENTED FOLKS TO JOIN US FOR PART OF THAT.

ANOTHER THING I WANT TO MENTION, AS YOU PROBABLY SAW ON THE DALLAS MORNING NEWS LAST WEEK, THAT WE'RE THE RECIPIENT OF A THREE AND A HALF MILLION DOLLAR SKILLS DEVELOPMENT.

ON GRANT THAT IS FOCUSED ON THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY.

THIS IS FROM THE FROM THE TEXAS WORKFORCE COMMISSION.

THERE WAS A CHECK SIGNING AT NORTH LAKE LAST WEEK AND THE COMMISSIONER WAS HERE TO HELP SHARE IN THAT CHECK.

BUT IT'S A GREAT PARTNERSHIP.

WE HAVE 18 CONSTRUCTION BUSINESSES IN WHICH WILL TRAIN 1500 OF THEIR EMPLOYEES.

SO AGAIN, IT'S A GREAT WIN FOR THAT BUSINESS, THAT INDUSTRY.

AND I APPRECIATE THE LEADERSHIP OF DR.

WILKINS AND DR.

FREEMAN AND OTHERS THAT ARE PART OF THE WORKFORCE AND ADVANCEMENT TEAM THAT DO SUCH A GREAT JOB OF ENSURING THAT WE'RE COMPETITIVE WITH WITH THOSE SORT OF THINGS.

AND THEN FINALLY, I WANT TO MENTION THAT LAST WEEK A NUMBER OF THE TRUSTEES WERE AT THE ASSOCIATION OF COMMUNITY COLLEGE TRUSTEE ANNUAL CONFERENCE, THE LEADERSHIP CONGRESS.

AND SO A LOT OF OPPORTUNITY TO ENGAGE IN SHARING AND LEARNING WITH TRUSTEES FROM AROUND THE COUNTRY.

SO I APPRECIATE YOU ALL TAKING THE TIME TO PARTICIPATE IN THAT.

I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE DALLAS COLLEGE, DALLAS COUNTY PROMISE, AND THEN ALSO HOW THAT HAS BEEN THE MODEL FOR OTHER INSTITUTIONS, OTHER PROMISES.

AND SO THE TEXOMA PROMISE AND THE TRUSTEE FROM GRAYSON COLLEGE PRESENTED WITH ME, BUT AGAIN, A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO TELL THE STORY AND THE JOURNEY THAT WE HAVE BEEN ON WITH OUR PROMISE EFFORT.

SO AGAIN, I APPRECIATE YOU ALL TAKING TIME OUT OF YOUR BUSY SCHEDULES TO PARTICIPATE IN THAT.

SO THAT CONCLUDES MY REMARKS.

THANK YOU, CHANCELLOR.

MANY TRUSTEES LIKE TO MAKE ANY COMMENTS.

YES, LET'S BE COMFORTABLE.

I JUST WANTED TO COMMENT ON THE SPECIAL EVENT THAT CEDAR VALLEY HOSTED, AND THERE WERE A NUMBER OF TRUSTEES THAT ATTENDED THEIR H.

C MOBILE LAB AND THEY HAVE BIG PLANS FOR IT, WHICH I THINK ARE VERY TIMELY AND NEEDED, YOU KNOW, AND THIS PARTICULAR COMMUNITY AND I HAVE TO GIVE CREDIT TO DR.

SEABROOKS, HE AND HIS TEAM, THEY KNOW HOW TO THROW A PARTY.

I ENJOYED MYSELF AND ENJOYED THE CONVERSATIONS, BUT I WANTED TO BRING THAT TO EVERYBODY'S ATTENTION AND TELL YOU, WELL, JOB WELL DONE.

THANK YOU, TRUSTEE. ANY OTHER TRUSTEES? TRUSTEE LAWRENCE.

[00:30:02]

THANK YOU, TRUSTEE COMPTON, FOR THAT, BECAUSE IT REMINDED ME OF THE FACULTY RECEPTION.

AND THANK YOU, THE FACULTY COUNCIL, FOR THAT.

IT WAS VERY ENJOYABLE.

WE USED TO HAVE IT IN YEARS PAST, AND I'M NOT SURE WHY THAT WENT AWAY.

I GUESS FACULTY DIDN'T LIKE US ANYMORE.

JUST JOKING, BUT THANK YOU SO MUCH.

THAT WAS VERY NICE.

AND THEN A LITTLE BIT OF SHOW AND TELL.

IS THAT CORRECT? SO AS SOME OF YOU KNOW, I'M ON THE BOARD OF THE NORTH TEXAS FOOD BANK, AND WE RECENTLY LAUNCHED A HISPANIC AFFINITY GROUP CALLED COMEDY WITHOUT HUNGER, AND WE LAUNCHED ON OCTOBER 15TH BY HAVING SOME VOLUNTEERS THERE TO HELP KIT PUT THE FOOD IN KITS TO THEN SEND TO THE ORGANIZATIONS THAT DISTRIBUTE THE FOOD.

AND THAT WAS QUITE AN EXPERIENCE.

BUT I DID PUT A CALL TO THE ADELANTE ERG, AND THIS IS SOME COMMUNITY GROUPS, BUT WE HAD FELIPE IBARRA AND HIS GRANDDAUGHTER JAZZY WORKED VERY HARD FOR 2 HOURS, AS DID ROSE GALLOWAY AND HER HUSBAND COREY.

SO I JUST WANTED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THEM AND REALLY THANK THEM FOR BEING OUT AND HELPING US LAUNCH THIS EVENT.

AND HOPEFULLY THEY'LL BE FUTURE ONES WHERE A LOT OF Y'ALL WILL GET INVITED.

MAYBE YOU WOULDN'T MIND GIVING UP 2 TO 3 HOURS OF YOUR SATURDAY MORNING.

AND THEN AS DR.

LORNA SAID, WE WERE IN THE DIA DE LOS MUERTOS PARADE THIS SATURDAY.

SO I ASKED DR.

WILLIAMS AND HIS POSITION, IS HE NOT IN HERE? OH, I HAVE DR.

WILLIAMS IN HIS POSITION AS CHIEF OF MARKETING.

INTERIM POSITION IS CHIEF OF MARKETING DALLAS COLLEGE COULD HAVE COULD BE IN THE PARADE.

HE SAYS. WELL, I DON'T KNOW BECAUSE WE'VE SPENT SO MUCH MONEY ON THE VETERANS DAY PARADE, THE FLOAT, AND SO YOU DON'T NEED A FLOAT.

LET'S DO A GOLF CART.

SO HE DID.

HE WAS QUITE A CHAMP.

AND WE HAD A GOLF CART BEHIND THE REGIONAL HISPANIC CONTRACTORS BUS.

AND THEN IT WAS OUR GOLF CART.

BUT WE HAD A GREAT TEAM THERE.

THERE YOU SEE IT AT TIMES.

AND DR. WILLIAMS WAS THE ONE THAT DECORATED THE GOLF CART.

HE DIDN'T. BUT ALSO, WE HAD A LOT OF PEOPLE COME UP TO THE DALLAS COLLEGE BOOTH WE WERE DOING FACE.

SOME OF OUR STUDENTS WERE DOING FACE PAINTING LED BY OMAR HERNANDEZ ART FACULTY AT THE EL CENTRO CAMPUS, AND THEN CONTRERAS, ASSOCIATE DEAN OF STUDENT LIFE, CLAYTON OLIVER, MOLLY BEWLEY AND HER TEAM.

SO. AND CLAYTON CLAYTON LED THE OUTREACH TEAM THAT WAS THERE.

AND MR. HERNANDEZ LED THE STUDENTS THAT WERE DOING THE FACE PAINTING.

AND THEN MOLLIE BEWLEY AND HER TEAM SET UP ALL THE LOGISTICS SO WE COULD DO THAT.

SO ANYWAY, IT WAS REALLY GOOD BECAUSE WE GOT A LOT OF VISIBILITY AT OUR BOOTH AND A LOT OF PEOPLE GETTING THE MESSAGE ABOUT DALLAS COLLEGE.

DR. WILLIAMS, DID YOU WANT TO SAY ANYTHING? SURE, YEAH.

SO, SO WE RECEIVED A CALL FROM TRUSTEE FLORES.

WE'RE GOING TO BE IN THE PARADE, RIGHT? AND WE SAID, OF COURSE WE ARE.

I'M GOOGLING THE REGISTRATION PACKET.

I KNOW. IT WAS GREAT.

YOU KNOW, ONE OF THE PHOTOS YOU SAW WITH TRUSTEE FLORES WALKING THE PARADE? WE HAD LEFT THE PARKING LOT FROM THE STAGING AREA.

AND SHE SAID, WHEN WE TURN THIS CORNER, I WANT TO GET OUT AND WALK.

AND ABOUT THREE MILES LATER, THE PARADE HAD ENDED.

BUT I WAS I WANTED TO HOOK MY STEP COUNTER TO YOU.

THAT WAY I COULD GET CREDIT FOR THOSE STEPS.

BUT IT WAS A GREAT EVENT AND ONE THAT WE WILL BE A LARGER PART OF NEXT YEAR.

VERY EXCITED TO TO MAINTAIN THAT RELATIONSHIP WITH THE PARADE.

BUT THAT IT WAS I THINK THEY HAD ESTIMATED 20,000 PEOPLE AT THE PARADE, WHICH WAS PRETTY INCREDIBLE.

SO, YEAH, THERE WERE A LOT OF PEOPLE THERE.

AGAIN, GOOD VISIBILITY IN OUR GOLF CART.

YES. YEAH, YEAH, YEAH, YEAH.

THANK. THANK YOU. IF YOU COULD, PLEASE.

IT'S THE THANKS TO EVERYBODY INVOLVED.

THANK YOU. NEXT YEAR, I PERSONALLY RECOMMEND WE GET AN AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE.

YEAH. YEAH, THAT'S WONDERFUL.

YEAH. ARE YOU GOING TO DO IT? YEAH. I'M A PARTNER.

YEAH. CONGRESSMAN TRUSTEE BOYD.

YEAH. I JUST WANT TO SAY THAT AS CHANCELLOR SPOKE ABOUT OUR TRIP TO THE CONVENTION, MEETING WITH ALL THE TRUSTEES FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY.

IT'S A IT'S A GREAT OPPORTUNITY WHERE YOU CAN GO AND YOU LEARN ABOUT SOME OF THE CREATIVITY AND SOME OF THE PROGRAMS AND THE PROCESSES THAT SOME OF THE OTHER COLLEGES HAVE PUT TOGETHER.

AND IT KIND OF HELPS US IN SOME OF OUR PLANNING AND EVALUATING SOME OF THE IDEAS AND THOUGHTS THAT WE HAVE.

SO I THINK IT WAS IT WAS A REALLY VALUABLE TRIP.

ONE OF THE AREAS THAT WE HAVE A LOT OF CONCERN ABOUT IN WORKING IN WAS IN THE AREA OF MENTAL ILLNESS, MENTAL HEALTH, AND THERE WAS A LOT OF OPPORTUNITY TO TALK TO PEOPLE WHO HAVE UTILIZED PROGRAMS THAT ARE BEING VERY SUCCESSFUL.

[00:35:05]

AND SO I'VE SHARED THAT SEMINAR THAT I WENT TO WITH THE CHANCELLOR AND HE'S ALREADY PASSED IT ON TO TO MAKE CONTACT TO TO GET THE BENEFIT OF THAT. THE OTHER ITEM I WANT TO BRING UP IS THAT ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER THE 16TH, FROM 11 TO 2:00 PM AT MOUNTAIN VIEW CAMPUS IN THE STUDENT COURTYARD WILL BE HONORING THE VETERANS.

WE CHOSE TO TAKE THE DAY WEDNESDAY AFTER VETERANS DAY BECAUSE THE CITY OF DALLAS WOULD BE A GOLF CART AGAINST AN 18 WHEELER. AND WE DIDN'T WANT TO COMPETE WITH THE CITY OF DALLAS AND THE VENDORS WE WANT TO ATTRACT BECAUSE OUR PURPOSE OF OUR VETERANS PROGRAM IS NOT ONLY TO HONOR THE VETERANS WITH A TOKEN OF OUR APPRECIATION OF TURKEY, SOMETHING THAT THEY'LL TAKE HOME, BUT IT'S REALLY TO BRING TOGETHER FROM AN EDUCATIONAL POINT OF VIEW.

NUMBER ONE, WHAT WE PROVIDED DALLAS COLLEGE FOR VETERANS TO CHANGE THEIR LIVES AND TO MOVE FORWARD, BUT ALSO TO HELP THEM UNDERSTAND THE BENEFITS OF THE ENTITLEMENTS THAT THEY HAVE.

SO FOR US TO BRING IN A CONGREGATED AREA, THE VENDORS THAT MIGHT BE PROVIDING MORTGAGE, THEY MIGHT BE PROVIDING INSURANCE, WHATEVER HEALTH IT MIGHT BE, WE WANT TO HELP THEM TO GET THE MAXIMUM BENEFIT IN APPRECIATION FOR THE SERVICE THAT VETERANS HAVE GIVEN US TO BE FREE TO BE IN THIS MEETING TODAY.

SO THAT'S THE WHOLE PURPOSE THAT WE'VE STARTED.

AND WE'RE GOING TO EACH YEAR TRY A DIFFERENT VENUE AND MOVE IT AROUND THE COUNTY SO THAT IT'S MORE ACCESSIBLE EACH YEAR TO TO MORE PEOPLE.

SO I JUST CAN'T SAY ENOUGH FOR THE TEAM AND HOW THEY JUST PUT A PROGRAM TOGETHER LIKE THIS IN AN UNBELIEVABLE WAY.

AND IT'S EASY TO HAVE AN IDEA, BUT IT'S HARD TO DELIVER.

AND I THINK Y'ALL AS A TEAM FOR WHAT YOU DO.

THANK YOU, TRUSTEE BOYD.

TRUSTEE RIDER FOR VICE CHAIR RIDER.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I WANTED TO SHARE WITH MY TRUSTEES AND FELLOW TRUSTEES AND ALSO THE PUBLIC AN EXPERIENCE I HAD ON CAMPUS, RICHLAND, THIS PAST WEEK.

AND I HAD THE CHANCE TO ATTEND A THEATER PERFORMANCE IN DALLAS COLLEGE CALLED SELF-INJURIOUS BEHAVIOR, WHICH WAS WRITTEN BY A DALLAS PLAYWRIGHT.

IT'S A STORY ABOUT AUTISM, A MOTHER'S LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP.

AND I'LL TELL YOU, IT WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD, YOU KNOW, IN TERMS OF ITS POWER AND ITS IMPACT.

AND AND ALSO WHAT OUR WHAT OUR STUDENTS AND OUR FACULTY BROUGHT TO PUTTING IT ON.

I HAD THE CHANCE TO VISIT AFTERWARDS WITH DR.

SILKY JONES, WHO'S HERE AND WHO'S OUR VICE PROVOST FOR THE SCHOOL OF CREATIVE ARTS, ENTERTAINMENT AND DESIGN.

AND AND ALSO ANDY LONG, WHO LEADS THE THEATER PROGRAMS AT RICHLAND AND HAS FOR MANY YEARS, AND AND JENNIFER OWEN, WHO'S RESPONSIBLE FOR A LOT OF THE PRODUCTION AND THE THE LIGHTING, WHAT GOES ON BEHIND THE SCENES TO PRODUCE A PLAY.

AND THIS IS AN INDUSTRY THAT WAS BASICALLY INVISIBLE.

ANDY EXPLAINED TO ME IN THE AUDIENCE.

I MEAN, THIS WAS AN INDUSTRY THAT BASICALLY SHUT DOWN DURING COVID ALL OVER THE WORLD, AND IT'S COMING BACK AND IT'S COMING BACK AT DALLAS COLLEGE.

IT'S COMING BACK THROUGH ARTS AND CULTURAL OFFERINGS HERE IN THE COMMUNITY, BUT IT'S ALSO THE PRODUCTION CAPABILITY THAT WE OFFER WHEN WE TRAIN OUR STUDENTS IN IS A VITAL PART OF THE THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY AND THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY AND CONVENTIONS AND EVENTS AND THINGS LIKE THAT.

AND SO SO IT'S BEEN DORMANT COMING BACK.

WE HAVE A WE HAVE A HUGE ROLE TO PLAY IN THAT DALLAS COLLEGE.

AND I JUST WANTED TO THANK ZAHAVA AND KAY AND ANDY AND JENNIFER FOR THE WORK THEY PUT INTO THIS PRODUCTION.

AND I HOPE ALL OF US GET A CHANCE TO GO TO OTHER PRODUCTIONS IN DALLAS COLLEGE BECAUSE IT WAS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

TRUSTEE MAYOR, WHILE WE'RE ON THE SUBJECT OF DR.

EGGLESTON, I JUST WANT TO MENTION THAT SHE AND I ATTENDED A LUNCHEON YESTERDAY AT THE GARLAND CHAMBER.

THE SPEAKER WAS THE CHAIRMAN OF THE TEXAS WORKFORCE COMMISSION, AND THE FOR ALL OF HIS JOKES AND COMMENTS, THE SALIENT POINT WAS THAT 500,000 UNEMPLOYED FOLKS AND ABOUT 600,000 OPEN POSITIONS.

SO IT'S YOU KNOW, AND HE LOOKED AT THE DALLAS COLLEGE FOLKS AND SAID, GO TO WORK AND NOT IN A MEAN, SMART WAY, BUT AN ACKNOWLEDGMENT THAT THIS IS WHO GETS THE WORK DONE.

SO IT WAS INSPIRING TO TALK ABOUT THE ECONOMY OF TEXAS, BUT ALSO THE CHALLENGES BEFORE.

SO GO TO WORK.

ANY OTHER TRUSTEES? NOW? WELL, I WOULD JUST LIKE TO ADD, I ALSO ENJOYED ATTENDING THE ACT CONFERENCE WITH MY COLLEAGUES GOING TO THE CONFERENCE.

IT'S GOOD FOR FELLOWSHIP AND IT'S ALSO GOOD FOR BOARD TRAINING SO WE CAN BE UP TO DATE ON ALL THE NEW INNOVATIVE THINGS THAT ARE HAPPENING ALL ACROSS THE COUNTRY.

[00:40:08]

AS WE MENTIONED EARLIER TODAY, WE GOT TO HEAR A PANEL FROM THE LEADERSHIP OF EVERY ACCREDITATION BODY FOR COLLEGES.

AND SO THAT THAT WAS VERY INSIGHTFUL.

I THINK THAT WAS THE FIRST TIME THEY'VE DONE THAT AT THAT CONFERENCE.

I MYSELF AS WELL ATTENDED SEVERAL DRY SESSIONS AND LOTS OF I'M SURE THE TRUSTEES GOT LOTS OF GREAT IDEAS TO BRING BACK TO DALLAS COLLEGE.

WANTED TO REMIND EVERYBODY ABOUT EARLY VOTING.

EARLY VOTING IS GOING ON THROUGH FRIDAY OF THIS WEEK AND ELECTION DAY IS NEXT TUESDAY, SO DO NOT FORGET TO GO VOTE.

I ALSO ENJOYED ATTENDING THE EVENT AT CEDAR VALLEY AS WELL AS THE FACULTY SOCIAL ALSO AT CEDAR VALLEY.

THAT WAS A GREAT TIME.

ALSO, EARLY IN OCTOBER, I WAS AT EL CENTRO, PARTICIPATED, PARTICIPATED WITH CHANCELLOR LONDON IN THE SISTER TO SISTER DOMESTIC VIOLENCE DOOR DECORATING CONTEST, WHICH WAS REALLY GREAT BECAUSE BESIDES GETTING THE GROUPS TO WORK TOGETHER ON A PROJECT, SOME OF THOSE DOORS WERE SO GREAT BECAUSE THEY THEY NOT ONLY SPOKE TO STUDENTS AND EMPLOYEES ABOUT WHAT IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, BUT ACCESS TO RESOURCES FOR IT.

AND AS WE KNOW, OCTOBER IS THE MONTH WHERE WE RECOGNIZE AWARENESS FOR THAT.

SO THAT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE.

I CAN'T REMEMBER WHO WON WHAT DEPARTMENT.

ONE FACILITY FACILITY.

THAT'S RIGHT. YES, THEY DID A VERY GREAT DRAW.

LET'S SEE.

ALSO, I WANTED TO WISH A HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO VICE CHAIR RITTER.

I HEAR IT'S CELEBRATING A BIRTHDAY TODAY.

WHY? I WASN'T GOING TO LET YOU LEAVE WITHOUT SAYING.

AND AS NORMAL, I WOULD LIKE TO RECOGNIZE OUR RETIREES WHO HAVE GIVEN YEARS OF SERVICE TO DALLAS COLLEGE.

WE WISH THEM WELL.

THIS MONTH WE HAVE 30 CHRISTA JONES, WHO COMPLETED 21 YEARS OF SERVICE.

FRANCINE MAYNARD, WHO COMPLETED 26 YEARS OF SERVICE AND PROMOTE A PAUL WHO COMPLETED 21 YEARS OF SERVICE.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO DALLAS COLLEGE.

OKAY. WE WILL NOW MOVE ON TO ITEM SEVEN OPPORTUNITY FOR MEMBERS OF THE BOARD AND CHANCELLOR TO DECLARE CONFLICTS OF INTEREST SPECIFIC TO THIS AGENDA. DO WE HAVE ANY CONFLICTS TO DECLARE? NO, WE DO NOT. SO WE WILL MOVE ON TO THE CONSENT AGENDA.

[8. Consent Agenda]

AND. WE HAVE DETERMINED TO PULL ITEM 8.3 A, WHICH IS THE APPROVAL OF THE AMENDMENT TO POLICIES CONCERNING TRAVEL. WE WILL ADDRESS THIS PARTICULAR POLICY AT A LATER COMMITTEE DATE.

DOES ANY TRUSTEE WISH TO REMOVE ANY REMAINING ITEM ON THE CONSENT AGENDA FOR A QUESTION OR SEPARATE CONSIDERATION? OH, NO, I DON'T.

BUT I'D LIKE TO MAKE A MOTION.

BUT I HAVE A QUESTION ON EIGHT TO.

CAN WE VOTE? THAT IS.

CAN I MAKE A MOTION TO APPROVE EVERYTHING BUT EIGHT THREE? OR DO WE HAVE TO VOTE ON THOSE FINANCE SYSTEMS INDIVIDUAL? YOU CAN ASK THE FOR YEARS.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO FINANCE ONE SEPARATELY BECAUSE IT'S PART OF THE CONSENT AGENDA.

WELL, IT WAS THE AUTHORIZATION FOR THE BOND, THE BOND SALES AND THE TRANSFER OF BROADBAND SERVICE, THE LICENSE SEPARATELY.

NOW, I'M ASKING YOU, DO WE HAVE TO TAKE A ROLE? NO, THEY'RE PART OF IT. THEY CAN BE VOTED AS AS PART OF THE AGENDA.

OKAY. WELL, THEN I'LL MAKE A MOTION FOR APPROVAL THEN.

EIGHT, THE CONSENT AGENDA NUMBER 8 81A, 82 A AND B.

8 FOUR A AND 858 AND 8.3 B, 8.3 B.

YOU KNOW, I WONDERED ABOUT THAT IF WE WERE PULLING BOTH OF THOSE ITEMS AT THE SAME.

SO 83883.

THANK YOU. COULD I HAVE HERE A SECOND?

[00:45:02]

SECOND FROM VICE CHAIR RITTER.

THANK YOU. ALL IN FAVOR, PLEASE SAY AYE.

ALL RIGHT. I'LL OPPOSE.

PLEASE SAY NAME. ANY ABSTENTIONS? THE MOTION PASSES AND 83A ACCORDING TO WHAT YOU TOLD ME, IT'S BEEN SENT BACK TO THE GOVERNANCE.

YES, WE WILL BE SENDING THAT BACK TO THE GOVERNANCE COMMITTEE FOR MORE DISCUSSION AND MAYBE A POSSIBLE CHANGE.

THANK YOU. SO NOW WE WILL GO TO NINE INFORMATIVE REPORTS.

DO WE HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, COMMENTS ON ANY OF THE INFORMATIVE REPORTS? NOPE. OKAY.

WE DO NOT NEED AN EXECUTIVE SESSION TODAY.

AND SO WITH THAT WE CAN ADJOURN THE MEETING AT 4:46 P.M..

THANK YOU, EVERYONE.
