THIS GOVERNANCE COMMITTEE MEETING IS BEING BROADCAST OVER THE INTERNET AND AUDIO RECORDING AND TRANSCRIPTS OF THIS MEETING ARE BEING MADE AND WILL BE AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC ON THE BOARD'S WEBSITE AFTER THE MEETING AT A LATER DATE.

REALLY, WHAT I WANT TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT IS YOUR SELF ASSESSMENT.

THIS IS THE PROPOSED TIMELINE SIMILAR TO WHAT WE DID LAST YEAR.

THERE IS NO PARTICULAR VENDOR THAT THAT HAS BEEN DECIDED UPON.

WE DID PROVIDE AS REFERENCE IN YOUR PACKETS, NOT PUBLIC VIEW, LAST YEAR'S ASSESSMENT.

SO THE QUESTION IS, DO YOU ARE YOU INTERESTED IN MOVING FORWARD WITH TEAM? WHO WAS THE ORGANIZATION THAT DID THE SELF-ASSESSMENT LAST YEAR? THERE ARE A COUPLE OF OTHER OPTIONS THAT ARE INTERESTED TO EXPLORE THOSE.

DG WHICH IS THE ASSOCIATED ASSOCIATION OF GOVERNING BOARD, IS ANOTHER ORGANIZATION THAT PROVIDES SELF ASSESSMENT TOOLS.

THERE'S ALSO DIGITAL PLATFORMS ON BOARD AND WORKSHOPS.

A COUPLE OF THAT I CAN MENTION THAT I AM CONFIDENT WILL DO A GOOD JOB IN TERMS OF DIGITAL PLATFORMS. ALL IN ALL, IT WILL STILL BE UP TO THE BOARD OR THE THE COMMITTEE, THE GOVERNANCE COMMITTEE TO DECIDE WHAT QUESTIONS.

I KNOW LAST YEAR DID CENTER A LITTLE BIT AROUND COVID AND THE TRANSITION TO THOSE THINGS CHANGED A LITTLE BIT.

BUT THE COMMITTEE WOULD LOOK AT THE TOOL, DECIDE YOU WANT TO CONTINUE WITH SOME QUESTIONS.

WE HAVE TWO NEW BOARD MEMBERS WHO DID NOT PARTICIPATE LAST YEAR, SO THEIR FEEDBACK WOULD BE NEW THIS YEAR.

JUST LET ME KNOW WHAT YOUR THOUGHTS ARE IN TERMS OF THAT AND IF THIS PROPOSED PIPELINE WOULD BE SUFFICIENT.

SO THAT'S ONE CHANGE.

SO ANY COMMENT? JUST THAT THE DOWNSIDE OF THAT IS THAT THEN WE CAN'T COMPARE THE STUDIES.

IF THEY'RE BY SOMEBODY ELSE, THEN THEY'RE NOT.

THE CONFERENCE THAT I ATTENDED FOR THEM, THERE WAS A BIG EMPHASIS ON BREEDER UNIVERSITIES AND TCT IS TAILORED FOR US.

SO THAT WOULD BE MY REASON FOR STAYING WITH CASEY.

I DISAGREE WITH THAT. I REMEMBER WHEN WE DECIDED TO.

FIRST OFF, I AGREE IT'S HELPFUL TO HAVE A LONGITUDINAL DATA SET OVER MULTIPLE YEARS, AND THAT MAY CHANGE A LITTLE BIT.

BUT THERE'S PROBABLY OTHER OTHER THINGS.

PART OF THAT MEMBERSHIP THAT YOU'RE RIGHT, WE'RE PROBABLY NOT FULLY TAPPING INTO AND SORT OF TAKE A LOOK AT AND SEE WHAT ELSE THE SERVICES WOULD BE SIMILAR IN TERMS OF COST.

THEY'RE NOT GOING TO BE MUCH DIFFERENCE.

IN ORDER FOR THEM TO CREATE A SURVEY FOR US INTO JUST THE DIGITAL PLATFORM.

SO THEY'RE NOT. THAT'S WHAT THOSE TWO TYPES ARE.

I HAVE NOT CONTACTED THEM.

WE'VE ALWAYS GONE WITH AN ORGANIZATION THAT IS KIND OF ALIGNED WITH THE DALLAS COLLEGE GOALS AND MISSION, BUT THEY ARE AN OPTION.

I LIKE THEIR INSTRUMENT, THEIR ASSESSMENT INSTRUMENT, AND ALSO THE FACT THAT THEY ANALYZE THE THE RESPONSES AND GIVE US ALL THESE CHARTS AND SUCH THINGS LIKE THAT.

I WAS INTERESTED IN SEEING THE THE RATING, AND I THINK THAT WAS IMPACTED BY WHERE WE WERE IN THE TRANSFORMATION AND HOW EMPLOYEES WERE FEELING, HOW THAT MADE US FEEL, ETC..

I'D BE REALLY INTERESTED TO SEE THIS GO ROUND IF WE STAY THE SAME OR IF THERE'S A CHANGE IN THE THE DIFFERENT METRICS.

BUT I LIKE THE I WOULD PROVIDE.

CAN'T SAY THE SAME FOR THE SEARCH SERVICES, MR. PRESIDENT, BUT I CAN FOR THIS.

I DON'T KNOW WHETHER CCTV HAS AN ASSESSMENT TOOL OR REVERSE ASSESSMENT TOOL, IF YOU WILL, FOR THE ORGANIZATION TO LOOK UPWARD TO THE BOARD AND AND OBSERVE. I MEAN I'D SOME I'D BE I THINK THE FEEDBACK MIGHT MAKE US BETTER.

IF WE WANTED TO DO A FACILITATED RETREAT AND AN IDEA THAT WAS GIVEN TO ME WAS THAT WE'D DO A RETREAT AWAY FROM THE COLLEGE DISTRICT OUTSIDE OF THIS.

ANYBODY HAVE ANY DOUBTS ABOUT THAT? I THINK IT WOULD BE GOOD TO HAVE A FACILITATED RETREAT AND HAVE IT AWAY FROM OUR LOCATIONS.

THERE'S SEVERAL THINGS COMING DOWN THE PIKE THAT I THINK WE NEED TO HAVE DEEP DISCUSSIONS ABOUT.

ONE OF THEM IS PART OF WHAT WAS PRESENTED TODAY IN EDUCATION AND WORKFORCE, ABOUT HOW MORE STUDENTS ARE PREFERRING ONLINE ONLY VERSUS FACE TO FACE AND HYBRID.

SO WHAT THAT WHAT DOES THAT MEAN FOR THE BOND PROJECTS THAT WE HAVE OUT THERE? AND WE REALLY NEED TO TAKE A NEW LOOK AT THAT.

AND THEN SOMETHING ELSE THAT CAME UP TODAY THAT I THINK I SPENT A LOT OF PUT DOWN AS SOMETHING WE NEED TO TAKE A DEEPER DIVE IN AND RETREAT.

AND I THINK INSTEAD OF BEING FED PROGRAMING AT ALL, I THINK WE HAD A RETREAT.

WE GAVE EACH INDIVIDUAL TRUSTEE AN OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE SOME OF THEIR VISIONS.

WE MIGHT REALLY BE SURPRISED ABOUT SOME OF THE OPPORTUNITIES THAT WOULD BE THERE THAT WE COULD COLLECTIVELY BUILD UPON.

SO I'D LIKE TO SEE THAT KIND OF RETREAT WHERE WE'RE BASICALLY IS THE IS THE BOARD AND CERTAINLY I THINK THE CHANCELLOR TO NOT BE ABLE TO ANSWER QUESTIONS, BUT NO PRESENTATIONS, NO, NO FORMALITY OTHER THAN EACH INDIVIDUAL TRUSTEE GIVEN AN OPPORTUNITY TO EXPRESS VISIONS AND IDEAS AND THINGS THAT THEY FEEL COULD HAPPEN.

AND BUT I ALSO THINK THAT, YOU KNOW, THERE CAN BE A PORTION OF RETREAT DEVOTED TO BRAINSTORMING AND NEW IDEAS AND SO FORTH.

BUT IF THERE'S ONE THING THAT'S MORE IMPORTANT, TO TRY TO ELIMINATE SOME CONTINUITY OF STRATEGY AND WE HAVE A STRATEGIC PLAN, YOU KNOW, WE HAVE WE'VE HAD A CLEAR DIRECTIONAL MESSAGE OF MISSION SINCE OUR INCEPTION.

THERE ARE THINGS WE NEED TO DO DIFFERENTLY IN A BETTER IN THAT ARE IN THE EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT THAT ARE PACKING US.

BUT LET'S USE THE FRAMEWORK THAT WE'VE HAD IN PLACE, WHICH IS OUR STRATEGIC PLAN, WHICH TO TRUSTEES HAVE NOT BEEN IN A STRATEGIC PLANNING DISCUSSION WITH THE FULL BOARD BECAUSE THEY'VE ONLY RECENTLY BEEN ELECTED.

SO. SO YOU HAD A BRAINSTORMING, BUT I DON'T THINK WE'RE STARTING FROM SCRATCH AND I DON'T THINK WE SHOULD.

AND AND THAT THE CONTINUITY OF OUR STRATEGY AND THE ADJUSTMENT OF OUR STRATEGY IS WHAT WE SHOULD DO IN THE CONTEXT OF RETREAT.

MY COMMENT ABOUT BRAINSTORMING HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH RESTARTING ANYTHING, THE AUGMENTATION TO WHAT WE ALREADY HAVE.

THAT'S WHAT I THINK WE LOSE BY NOT HAVING THOSE SESSIONS.

WE DON'T ADD TO WHAT WE ALREADY DO, AS YOU HEARD TODAY, ALREADY SEEN AS BEING GOOD, THE BEST TO MOST PEOPLE AROUND.

AND AND I CAN JUST TELL YOU THAT FROM MY LITTLE BIT OF BEING DOWN IN AUSTIN, DALLAS COLLEGE HAS LOOKED AT VERY, VERY FAVORABLY BY ALL THE OTHER COMMUNITY COLLEGES.

AND SO, NO, I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT STARTING OVER.

I'M TALKING ABOUT AUGMENTATION AND WHAT WE'RE ALREADY DOING.

I THINK WE'RE IN VIOLENT AGREEMENT.

AND IT WAS TWO OR THREE YEARS AGO WHEN YOU WERE CHAIR, I REMEMBER AND YOU KNOW THAT WE REALLY REDID THE STRATEGIC PLANNING AROUND THE 60 BY 30 GOALS.

I MEAN THAT THAT WAS THE MAJOR THAT WAS THE LAST STRATEGIC INFLECTION POINT IN TERMS OF BOARD STRATEGIC PLANNING.

NOW, 60 BY 30 HAS BEEN UPDATED A LITTLE BIT.

WE HAVEN'T GONE BACK AND REVISITED IT.

SO YEAH, THAT BUT IT'S AUGMENTING WHAT WE HAVE.

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU ON THAT SUGGESTION.

I THINK WE'RE IN AGREEMENT. WELL, AND I THINK REALLY THE STRATEGIC PRIORITIES NEED TO BE REPACKAGED.

I THINK THEY'RE STILL TOO MUCH.

AND AS YOU SPEAK, AND I THINK IT'S HARD FOR OTHERS TO UNDERSTAND WHAT'S IN THERE.

I MEAN, I'VE BEEN IN HIGHER ED FOR, WHAT, 35 YEARS AND I STILL DON'T LIKE ALL THE LANGUAGE AND TERMINOLOGY.

AND IT'S LIKE THIS WAY VERSUS THIS WAY.

SO LOOK AT REPACKAGING THE STRATEGIC PRIORITIES AND IS EVERYTHING THERE THAT WE NEED TO BE THERE OR ARE THERE SOME THINGS THERE THAT WE NEED TO TAKE OFF BECAUSE WE PRETTY MUCH ALREADY MENTIONED THAT.

SO ONE AREA THAT I WOULD LIKE FOR US TO LOOK AT IN THE RETREAT IS THE I, I MADE A CONCERTED EFFORT TO EXTEND AT CCP CAMP SESSIONS ON DEI AND WHAT OTHER INSTITUTIONS AND INSTITUTIONS HAVE DONE.
