>> THIS IS BEEN NOTICED.

>> WE HAVE AN EXTREMELY IMPORTANT PRESENTATION TODAY.

[4.1. Dallas College Spring 2022 Enrollment Update]

DR. PIERCE, WE WILL TURN OVER TO YOU.

THANK YOU.

>> THANK YOU TRUSTEE AND CHANCELLOR CONGRATULATIONS AND WELCOME AGAIN.

THANK YOU FOR HAVING US THIS AFTERNOON.

I START OFF THIS AFTERNOON BY SHARING WITH YOU THAT THE PRESENTATIONS THEY WILL FOCUS PREDOMINANTLY ON TWO THINGS.

OUR INSTITUTION AND -- WILL TALK ABOUT SPRING ENROLLMENT BUT WANT YOU TO KEEP THOSE IN MIND.

IF YOU INDULGE ME, WE SAID WE ONLY HAD 10 MINUTES BUT I WILL TAKE MAYBE TWO MINUTES IF YOU ALLOW ME TO.

>> TAKE ALL THE TIME YOU NEED.

>> VERY GOOD.

I WAS RECALLING AND REFLECTING ON THE PREVIOUS PRESENTATIONS IN OVER THE LAST THREE YEARS, I THOUGHT ABOUT LITTLE BIT ONLY STARTED.

IN MARCH 2020 WE HAD A BOARD MEETING IN WHICH WE TALKED ABOUT THE VISION OF THE COLLEGE AND TALKED ABOUT STUDENTS, ECONOMIC MOBILITY, WE TALKED ABOUT CONDUCTIVITY AS WELL AS OUR ACADEMIC PROGRAMMING.

AT THAT TIME WE TALKED ABOUT THOSE THINGS AND WE WERE LOOKING AT OUR COLLEGE AS ONE.

BUT WE DIDN'T ANTICIPATE TWO WEEKS LATER WE HAVE TO DO A SUBSTANTIAL -- TO RESPOND TO CRISIS.

ANOTHER TIME BUT WE WANTED TO DO WAS SOMETHING NO OTHER COLLEGES HAD TO DO AT LEAST NOT IN THIS LIFETIME.

RUN PARALLEL WITH ACCREDITATION WITH AS WELL AS CONTINUE TO DO BUSINESS THAT WE DO SERVING OUR STUDENTS.

KEEPING THAT IN MIND, I WANTED TO REMIND EVERYBODY THAT THERE'S BEEN ONE OF THE THINGS WE DID WAS REACH OUT TO 55,000 STUDENTS TO CHECK ON THEM AND SEE HOW

[00:05:01]

THEY ARE DOING.

WE FOLLOWED THE MISSION AS UNITED COLLEGE MOVING FORWARD IN THE SUMMER IN THE FALL WITH CREATING OPPORTUNITIES FOR STAFF EXPENDED PROVISIONS BY CREATING ONE THIRD SHIFT AND WISH YOU AND ALSO STUDENTS ALL THE WAY THROUGH MIDNIGHT -- BUSINESS HOURS MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY BUT WE ALSO SERVE UNTIL THE NIGHT HOURS ON MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY.

>> IS AT THE CALL CENTER?

>> YES MA'AM.

>> AS WE FAST-FORWARD THIS TIME LAST YEAR, WE TALKED ABOUT IMPACT OF COVID AND WE WERE OUT AND HOW WE SUPPORT STUDENTS.

WE CONTINUE TO KEEP IN MIND WE WERE DOING THE BEST WE COULD WITH THE RESOURCES WE WERE AFFORDED TO INCLUDE DISTRIBUTION OF THE CARES ACT FUNDING.

ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER AS WE GET TO THIS POINT IS THAT EXTERNAL FACTORS ARE BEYOND OUR CONTROL WE ARE DOING THE VERY BEST WE CAN TO SERVE OUR STUDENTS AND COMMUNITIES AN OPPORTUNITY COST IS TOO HIGH.

DOCTOR JOSEPH WILL EXPLAIN A LITTLE MORE ON WHAT WE MEAN BY THAT AS WE CONTINUE TO SERVE OUR STUDENTS TODAY.

>> THANK YOU FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO TALK WITH YOU TODAY.

SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE PANDEMIC WOMEN ADDITIONAL EFFORT FOR OUR STUDENTS AND WE'VE CONTINUED TO DO SO SINCE SPRING OF 2020.

WE HAVE DONE THAT WITH CALLS, SMALL SERVERS ETC. SINCE THAT TIME THE FEEDBACK IS FALLEN INTO THREE DIFFERENT CATEGORIES.

THE FIRST ONE IS SAFETY.

STUDENTS FELT ANXIOUS ABOUT THEIR SAFETY AND SAFETY OF FAMILY MEMBERS AND SAFETY OF THE CHILDREN, THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT.

THAT WAS ONE PIECE.

THE SECOND PIECE WAS VIRTUAL EXPERIENCE.

THEY DECIDE EVERYBODY HAD TO GO ONLINE.

FOR A LOT OF STUDENTS, THE ONLINE EXPERIENCE WAS NOT WHAT THEY SIGNED UP FOR AND NOT WHAT WAS WORKING FOR THEM.

THEY HAD CHALLENGES, WE HAD INTERNET, DEVICES, A VARIETY OF DIFFERENT THINGS ALSO HAD TO OVERSEE THE SCHOOLING OF THE CHILDREN WHO WERE ALSO GOING ONLINE AND EVEN THOUGH SOME OF THEM HAD INTERNET AT HOME IT'S VERY DIFFERENT WHEN YOU HAVE ONE PERSON ONLINE AND YOU HAVE FIVE.

SO WE GOT FEEDBACK FROM STUDENTS SAYING WE HAVE ONLY TWO DEVICES AT HOME NOW WE HAVE ALL THE KIDS AND I'M WORKING FROM HOME AND MY SPOUSE IS WORKING FROM HOME SO THERE IS A CHALLENGE IN THAT.

AND THE THIRD BUCKET REALLY DEALS WITH FINANCES.

AND THAT IS STILL A VERY IMPORTANT ISSUE.

WE TALKED ABOUT INDIVIDUALS LOSING EMPLOYMENT THEMSELVES, FAMILY MEMBERS LOSING EMPLOYMENT, THE FEAR OF GOING OUT TO WORK AND BRING THEM BACK THE VIRUS WITH THEM.

WE HAVE A LOT OF INDIVIDUALS WHO LIVE IN MULTIGENERATIONAL HOUSEHOLDS AND THE FEAR OF GETTING THOSE FAMILY MEMBERS SICK.

THERE IS A LOT OF CONCERN ABOUT OPPORTUNITY COST.

THE OPPORTUNITY COST OF THE JOBS AND EMPLOYMENT VERSUS GOING TO SCHOOL.

WE HEAR THAT OVER AND OVER FROM OUR STUDENTS.

WE HEAR THE, IT'S WONDERFUL THAT YOU WANT TO TRANSFORM MY LIFE BUT I DON'T HAVE THE YEARS TO GIVE YOU BECAUSE TODAY I AM SURVIVING AND WHEN YOU ARE SURVIVING YOU ARE NOT THINKING ABOUT TWO YEARS FROM NOW I WILL BE A NURSE OR THREE YEARS FROM NOW I WILL BE ABLE TO TRANSFER.

THOSE ARE THE REALITIES THAT WE DEAL WITH AND THEY DEAL WITH AND WE TRY TO MEET OUR STUDENTS WHERE THEY ARE.

THANKS TO YOUR LEADERSHIP AND YOUR VISION WE ARE ABLE TO PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR THOSE STUDENTS.

WE ARE ABLE TO HIRE MORE COUNSELORS THAT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PROVIDE SUPPORT HER MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES THAT ARE RAMPANT AMONG STUDENTS, AMONG THE COMMUNITY.

I JUST WANTED TO PROVIDE YOU WITH SOME OF THE BACKGROUND OF WHAT'S HAPPENING TODAY.

THE LANDSCAPE HAS CHANGED.

IT IS NOT ANYMORE KIDS GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL AND SANG A CAM GOING TO COLLEGE OR AN ADULT SAYING OKAY I'M JUST GOING TO GO TO SCHOOL AND EVERYTHING WILL BE OKAY.

SO I JUST WANTED TO REMIND EVERYBODY OF THE SITUATION WE ARE IN AND THE FACT THAT WE HAVE KEPT ON ASKING STUDENTS, SUPPORTING STUDENTS AND OUR NEW STRUCTURE AND YOUR INVESTMENT, THE $10 MILLIO THAT YOU REINVEST IN STUDENT SUCCESS HAS HELPED US SUPPORT THE STUDENTS AND WHILE THE NUMBERS MIGHT NOT SEEM WONDERFUL, THERE ARE SOME VERY PROMISING FOR TRENDS THAT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SEE AND WILL BE SHARED WITH YOU TODAY.

>> THANK YOU.

LET'S GET STARTED.

TODAY'S PRESENTATION WILL FOCUS ON THE SPRING, PLEASE REMEMBER -- WILL SHARE WITH YOU A DATA REVIEW AND THE TRENDS AND WHAT WE ARE DOING TO MOVE FORWARD.

LET'S BEGIN WITH THE NATIONAL LANDSCAPE.

IT'S IMPORTANT FOR THE GROUP TO UNDERSTAND OUR NATIONAL LANDSCAPE.

GIVE TWO NUMBERS AT THE TOP.

THE TWO NUMBERS OF THE TOPPER SHOWCASING LAST SPRINGS NUMBERS.

AS RECORDED BY THE NATIONAL STUDENT PLANNING HOUSE.

THE REASON YOU HAVE LAST SPRINGS NUMBERS IS BECAUSE THIS SPRING IS STILL IN PROGRESS AND NUMBERS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE SO THIS GIVES YOU A SENSE OF WHERE WE WERE LAST YEAR NATIONALLY AS WELL AS AS A STATE, DIRECTLY BELOW THAT, WE WILL TAKE A LOOK YOU CAN SEE I KNOW SOMETIMES IT'S A LITTLE SMALL.

DIRECTLY BELOW, THERE IS SOME FALL NUMBERS SHOWCASED ALSO PRESENTED BY THE NATIONAL CLEARINGHOUSE.

RECENTLY, THE CEO FOR NATIONAL STUDENT CLEARINGHOUSE DID A PRESENTATION IN WHICH THE CHANCELLOR WAS FORTUNATE TO BE PART OF.

IT WAS A SUMMIT THAT FOCUSED ON, MULTIPLE ENROLLMENT DECLINES TAKING PLACE.

THE FIRST WAS ADULT LEARNERS AND THE SECOND WORK MALE POPULATION.

HE ALSO SPOKE TO MOST OF OUR CORE TARGET POPULATIONS SEEING DECLINING TRENDS AND ALSO SPOKE REFERRING TO TRANSFER STUDENTS ALSO DECLINING.

>> THEY ARE UNDER ADULT LEARNERS, THOSE NATIONAL LEARNERS? AND 106,080 5000, IT'S NOT HUGE AS COMPARED TO THE MILLIONS OVER HERE.

AM I READING THE NUMBER OR UNDERSTANDING THEM WRONG?

>> YOU'RE LOOKING AT THEM CORRECTLY.

TAKE A LOOK, WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT IS ADULT LEARNERS OVER 24, NOT ENTERING AS BEFORE.

SO THE NUMBER THAT YOU SEE THERE, THEIR REPORTING COLLEGE STUDENTS A TOTAL POPULATION OF ADULT LEARNERS.

OVER 24 ARE NOT ENROLLED AS BEFORE.

[00:10:04]

>> BUT NATIONWIDE IS 106,000?

>> THAT IS WHAT THE NATIONAL STUDENT CLEARINGHOUSE HAS IN THAT PARTICULAR CATEGORY AND YOU ARE LOOKING AT CORRECTLY BECAUSE I HAVE A DIFFERENTIATION BETWEEN PERCENTAGES AND NUMBERS REPORTED BY THE CLEARINGHOUSE THEY HAVE USED FOR THE ADULT LEARNERS AND MILL POPULATIONS, AND IT WAS EASIER TO SHARE WITH YOU ALL THE NUMERIC VALUES VERSUS PERCENTAGES.

>> IS AT 106 MILLION OR 106,000?

>> THIS WAS A PRESENTATION THEY DID, THE TRUSTEE BOYD WAS ON THERE AS WELL.

THIS WAS -- [INAUDIBLE] I THINK THAT WAS LOOKING AT THE TREND THAT WAS 106,000 STUDENTS THAT DIDN'T REENTER.

NOW FIVE THOUSANDS HAVEN'T REENTERED SO THIS IS GOING IN A BETTER DIRECTION.

I THINK THAT'S HOW IT'S PRESENTED.

AGAIN, THIS IS IMPORTANT.

HIS PRESENTATION WAS IMPORTANT.

AGAIN THESE WERE COMMUNITY COLLEGE LEADERS FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY TO SAY OKAY, NATIONALLY, WE HAVE A REAL CHALLENGE.

FOR ALL THE REASONS DOCTOR JOSEPH TALKED ABOUT THE POPULATION OF STUDENTS THAT WE SERVE ACROSS THE COUNTRY, IT WILL TAKE A LOT OF INTENTIONALITY TO GET THOSE FOLKS FOCUSED BACK AND PROVIDE SERVICES THAT GET THEM BACK ON THE PATH.

>> THE NUMBER DECREASED INSTEAD OF INCREASED.

MEANING -- >> IT GOT BETTER.

>> TRENDING IN A POSITIVE DIRECTION.

>> BECAUSE -- >> WE ARE NOT BLEEDING AS BADLY AS WE WERE.

>> WHEN WE GET DATA, WE ARE PERFORMING BETTER THAN MANY INSTITUTIONS ARE.

I THINK BECAUSE OF THE INVESTMENT.

>> THANK YOU.

LATER IN THE PRESENTATION I WILL TALK TO SOME THINGS THAT SHOW HOW WELL WE ARE DOING COMPARED TO SOME OF THE NATIONAL AVERAGES.

THIS SLIDESHOW SHOWCASES 20 YEARS OF CREDIT ENROLLMENT.

IF YOU LOOK, IT'S DISTRIBUTION FOR EARLY 2000 ALL THE WAY TO 2021.

IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS PARTICULAR BARGRAPH, YOU SEE THE 2008 FINANCIAL CRISIS.

WE APPROXIMATELY 41,000 ENROLLMENT AND IN 2020, 43,500 ENROLLMENTS.

WHAT THIS IS TELLING US IS THAT EVEN THOUGH WE ARE GOING TO ENROLLMENT DECLINE, WE ARE STILL STEADILY PROGRESSING OVER TIME WERE HEALTHIER IN THIS TIME THAN WE WERE IN THE FINANCIAL CRISIS.

LOGICALLY IN 2020 WHEN WE TOOK A DIP BECAUSE OF ALL THINGS WE ARE EXPERIENCING.

AND JUST FOR CLARIFICATION THIS IS COMMUNITY COLLEGE ANALYSIS TOOL, CARAT DATA.

>> COVID DATA KIND OF COUNTER IS WHAT WE SEE IN THE PAST DURING ECONOMIC DECLINES VERSUS ENROLLMENT.

I MEAN YOU THINK FOR COVID WE WOULD HAVE BEEN UP IN ENROLLMENT.

EVEN WITH ECONOMIC DECLINE.

IT'S REALLY THOSE FACTORS IN TERMS OF SAFETY.

>> ABSOLUTELY.

ACCESS AND MODALITY.

>> EVEN YOU LOOK AT THE NUMBER OF ENROLLMENT IN 2008 VERSUS 2021.

2021 IS STILL HIGHER THAN IT WAS IN THE FINANCIAL CRISIS AND I THINK THEY ARE THE EXACT NUMBERS BUT IN 2008 THE PEAK OF THE FINANCIAL CRISIS WITH 41,983 AS ENROLLMENT AND IN 2021 WE HAVE 43,553.

SO IT IS STILL A LITTLE BIT HIGHER THAN IT WAS DURING THE FINANCIAL CRISIS, WE ALL KNOW THAT WHEN COVID STARTED, AND WE WERE THINKING ABOUT PROJECTIONS AND ENROLLMENT, OUR MIND WENT BACK TO THE FINANCIAL CRISIS.

WHAT HAPPENED YOU KNOW THE BOTTOM FELL OFF, MORTGAGES, PEOPLE WENT BACK TO SCHOOL.

AND YOU CAN SEE THE ENROLLMENTS.

NOW EVERYBODY, THAT'S YOU GO THROUGH LIVED EXPERIENCES THE ONLY THING WE KNEW.

[00:15:09]

AND BUT, THE BEHAVIOR IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.

THE SAFETY PIECE IN PARTICULAR AND THE LOSS OF EMPLOYMENT THAT WAS SO RADICAL.

WE HAD THE EXPERIENCE BEFORE SO THE ENROLLMENTS ARE STILL LOWER, STILL HOLDING TO THE ONLY CRISIS I THINK MOST OF US REMEMBER.

>> THE WAY YOU SEGREGATED IT BY GENERATIONS, NEXT TIME? LET US KNOW THE AGE RANGE OF THESE GENERATIONS? THAT WILL HELP.

AND I DID THAT FOR MYSELF YOU KNOW IT WILL STAY IN MY MIND, THE AGE RANGE OF EACH GENERATION.

>> OF COURSE.

[LAUGHTER] >> I'M SORRY.

>> THE CREDIT IS 106,125.

NONCREDIT IS 21,267.

YOU SAID YOU WILL HAVE 125,000 STUDENTS.

>> AND I WILL EXPLAIN THAT IN JUST A SECOND.

IF YOU GIVE ME ADDITIONAL -- GENERATION Z, LIST WITH BOOMERS.

AGE IS 67 TO 74.

GENERATION X IS 40 TO 55, MILLENNIALS 24 TO 39, GENERATION Z 23.

>> THANK YOU.

>> AND I WILL COME BACK TO YOU, TRUSTEE ZIMMERMAN.

THE TOTALS YOU'RE LOOKING AT 125,285 IS A TOTAL COMPOSITION OF FALL, SPRING AND SUMMER ENROLLMENT.

CREDIT VERSUS NONCREDIT, DIFFERENTIATION IS NOT 3000 STUDENTS MORE OR LESS BECAUSE THE 3000 STUDENTS CAN BE IN EITHER CATEGORY.

THEY CAN BE CREDIT OR NONCREDIT SO IT IS A DUPLICATED NUMBER.

THAT IS WHY YOU'RE NOT SEEING THAT.

>> I COULDN'T MAKE THAT NUMBER WORK.

>> THAT'S A GREAT QUESTION.

IT IS CREDIT OR NONCREDIT.

>> I COULDN'T MAKE IT -- [INAUDIBLE].

>> TO THE EARLIER CONVERSATION WE WERE TALKING THE EDUCATION FOR ALL.

AGAIN, THIS IS A COMPOSITION THAT SHOWS THE GREATER DISTRIBUTION OF ALL STUDENTS THAT WE SERVE.

TODAY'S CONVERSATION IS FOCUSED ON ENROLLMENT FOR SPRING.

MOVING FORWARD, WHAT YOU HAVE BEFORE YOU IS A SPECIFIC COMPOSITION AS IT RELATES TO THIS TIME LAST YEAR.

THE NUMBERS IN FRONT OF YOUR SHOWING AS NATIONAL TRENDS IN STUDENT TALKING ABOUT DECLINES IN EACH POPULATIONS.

WHAT MEAN BY THAT, FIRST TIME RETURNING TRANSFER IN NUMBERS NUMBERS THAT YOU SEE BEFORE YOU, HAVE BEEN, WERE TAKEN, THIS IS A SNAPSHOT AS OF JANUARY 31 OF THIS TERM.

BECAUSE IT IS THE FIRST CENSUS DATE.

WE WERE RECORDING -5.4 PERCENT, REMEMBER I DON'T HAVE DATA FOR THE CURRENT SPRING THAT SPEAKS TO THAT BUT ALSO COMPARISON AND SPRING IN PROGRESS BECAUSE WE HAVE ACTIVE TERM TAKING PLACE RIGHT NOW AS OF THE REGISTRATION.

MOVE ON TO THAT.

>> SPRING OF 2020 BEFORE THE PANDEMIC, THAT WOULD'VE BEEN THE FIRST TO LAST SEMESTER BEFORE THE PANDEMIC HIT, RIGHT?

>> CORRECT.

>> WHAT WAS NUMBER THEN? CLOSE TO 80, WASN'T IT?

>> IT WAS IN THE 70S.

>> THE HIGH 70S?

>> IT WAS IN THE 70S.

>> 78 MAYBE?

>> SO 70 PRE-PANDEMIC AND THEN DOWN TO 63 NOW.

>> CORRECT.

>> WE HAVE SOME GROWING TO DO, THAT'S FOR SURE.

REPRESENT HERE WANT TO BE MEAN BY THIS? AS YOU ALL KNOW, WE HAVE A 16 WEEK TRADITIONAL TERM.

THE FIRST EIGHT WEEKEND THE SECOND EIGHT WEEKS ARE BROKEN UP BEFORE YOU SHOWING YOU THE FIRST TWO STARTED ON JANUARY 18.

OUR LONG-TERM TOTAL ENROLLMENT HAD A -6.5 PERCENT, THE FIRST EIGHT WEEKS SHOW GROWTH AT FOUR PERCENT.

AND OUR SECOND EIGHT WEEKS IS IN PROGRESS AND IT STARTS MARCH 21.

WHAT IS IMPORTANT FOR US TO SHOW THIS AFTERNOON IN THE SECOND EIGHT WEEKS IS THAT AS OF EARLY FEBRUARY, THE NUMBERS THAT YOU SEE THERE, WERE AT -5.3 PERCENT FOR A MOMENT FOR THAT TERM.

EACH DAY SINCE EARLY FEBRUARY, OUR TEAMS WORKED DILIGENTLY TO BRING THE

[00:20:03]

NUMBER DOWN WE'VE -2.6 PERCENT.

WE SUCCESSFULLY ENROLL HER STUDENTS IN COLLEGE COURSES FOR THIS AND WE ARE CONFIDENT WE WILL GET CLOSER TO POSITIVE NUMBERS IF NOT REACH POSITIVE NUMBERS FOR THE SECOND EIGHT WEEKS.

>> AT THE 60 WEEKS WERE DOWN 6.5 PERCENT BUT THE FIRST EIGHT WEEKS WE ARE UP 4.0.

SO, DO WE KNOW THAT IT WILL BE BETTER TO OFFER AN EIGHT WEEK MODALITY VERSUS THE LONG-TERM? WHICH IS WORKING FOR STUDENTS BETTER? 16 VERSUS EIGHT WEEKS.

IS IT A TOTAL EIGHT WEEK SCHEDULE? IF YEARS BACK? ARE THEY STILL IN THAT? OR NOT?

>> THEY HAVE -- I DON'T HAVE THE TOTAL TO EXPLAIN OR ARTICULATE THAT WELL.

WE SERVICE STUDENTS ARE STUDENTS ARE LOOKING AT WHAT CAN I GET DONE QUICKLY? SO FROM OUR LENS IN A MANAGEMENT LENS, WE PROVIDE FOR YOU TODAY STUDENTS REALLY LOOKING AT TIME IN CLASS.

NOW DOCTOR JOSEPH, I DON'T KNOW IF YOU'D LIKE TO ADD.

>> IN THE OPPORTUNITY COST, SOMETHING QUICKER AND LESS AMOUNT OF TIME.

AND THAT IS ALSO BECAUSE IF YOU WILL SEE IN SOME PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL IS A WAY THAT WE WILL PROMOTE WHAT WE DO RATHER THAN SPEAKING IN ABSTRACT TERMS. WE WILL SHOW YOU THAT IN A LITTLE BIT.

THIS WILL BE FROM THE STUDENT'S PERSPECTIVE, SHORT.

I WANT IN AND OUT, I WILL BE ABLE TO DO THIS QUICKLY.

THAT'S WHAT WE KNOW.

>> I THINK THE ANSWER IS YES.

SOME STUDENTS ARE DEPENDING ON THE PROGRAM, DEPENDING ON THEIR AREA OF FOCUS, 16 WEEK MAYBE APPROPRIATE FOR THEM TO SPACE IT OUT.

LIKE DOCTOR JOSEPH SAID A COMPRESSED TIME AND IT MAKES -- WE KNOW LOVE STUDENTS 16 WEEKS IS A BIG COMMITMENT FOR SOME OF THEM.

A BIG COMMITMENT THEY ARE NOT SURE WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE SO TO BE ABLE TO OFFER THINGS WHERE THEY CAN TAKE SMALL BITES ALONG THE WAY, IS GOOD.

>> IT WOULD BE GOOD TO GET AN UPDATE ON -- BECAUSE TWO OR THREE YEARS AGO, IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY, THEY WERE PRIMARILY TO AN EIGHT WEEK SCHEDULE.

>> THEY DID.

BECAUSE WERE NOT DESIGNATED BY COLLEGE ANYMORE, BY CAMPUS ANYMORE, THROUGH SCHOOLS, RIGHT NOW THE SCHEDULES UP 20 PERCENT.

AND JUST TO SPEAK TO THE PROGRESS, IT VARIES BY DISCIPLINE HOW WELL STUDENTS DO AN EIGHT WEEK COURSES AND CIRCUMSTANCES INTO THAT.

WE ARE STARTING TO DIG A LITTLE DEEPER INTO THE DATA TO DETERMINE THE AREAS TO HAVE THOSE COURSES SO THAT THEY GO TO PREDOMINANT -- SCHEDULE WE CAN RAMP UP WHERE WE NEED TO ACROSS THE SCHOOLS IN THE COLLEGE AND PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR STUDENTS, WE ARE ALSO TALKING TO STUDENTS ABOUT PROGRESS AND HAVING -- WHAT THEY WERE DOING.

SO WE CAN DETERMINE THE TYPE OF SUPPORT TO BE SUCCESSFUL.

>> THANK YOU FOR THAT REMINDER.

>> I WAS LOOKING AT DOCTOR -- SIR, -- [INAUDIBLE] [LAUGHTER] >> WE'LL KEEP MOVING.

VERY GOOD.

CONTINUING ON IN TERMS OF DEMOGRAPHICS WHAT WE ARE SHOWING YOU THIS AFTERNOON HOLISTICALLY SPEAKING IS WHAT YOU WOULD LIKELY ANTICIPATE HISPANIC AND BLACK MAKING OF THE LARGEST OF CONTRIBUTION IN TERMS OF GENDER.

YOU KNOW THAT THERE ARE FEMALES THAT CONTINUE, THAT ARE BETTER ENGAGED IN MALES.

I'LL TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE PROGRAMMING AND WHAT WE ARE DOING THERE AS IT RELATES TO KEEPING OUR STUDENTS ENGAGED.

MOVING ON, WE'LL TALK A LITTLE ABOUT SOME OF THE, WHAT WE FELT ARE SOME OF THE KEY PROGRAMS THAT THINGS WE NEEDED TO BRING TO LIGHT AND SHARE WITH YOU ALL TODAY.

SOME OF WHICH ALREADY VERY MUCH ARE AWARE OF BUT I WANTED TO SHED SOME LIGHT ON PARTICULARLY TWO OF THESE WHICH IS THE STUDENTS HAVE BEEN RECEIVING LONG-TERM

[00:25:02]

CULTURAL PROGRAMMING, SOMETHING WE STARTED DOING WITH OUR NEW STRUCTURE.

AS WELL AS IT SPEAKS OUT PERSISTENT DATA.

YOU'VE ALL HEARD COUNTLESS TIMES WILL CONTINUE HERE ABOUT THE SUCCESS IT'S SIGNIFICANTLY WELL AND IT WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO.

AS WELL AS ENGAGING MALE STUDENTS WE HAVE A SPECIALIST PROGRAM THE MALE ACHIEVEMENT PROGRAMMING IS DOING WELL AND GROWING CERTAINLY CAN CONTINUE TO GROW AND OUTREACH AND RECRUITMENT PROGRAM IS STRUCTURED BY REGIONS.

YOU MIGHT RECALL HE SPOKE PREVIOUSLY IN TERMS OF EACH ONE OF THE REGIONS IN DUAL CREDIT EDUCATIONAL PARTNERSHIPS SOUTH AND CENTRAL.

I ALSO MAKE REFERENCE TO THE MASTER PLAYBOOK PUBLISHED ONLINE FOR EVERYONE TO SEE WHICH WE CATEGORIZE UP TO 17 PARTICULAR POPULATIONS THEY ARE TARGET POPULATIONS, THE PLAYBOOK GIVES US AN OPERATIONAL FIND HOW TO BEST SERVE EACH STUDENT.

>> OUR NUMBERS HAVE IMPROVED.

21 TO SEPTEMBER 2022.

THEIR UPWARD TREND THERE.

>> ABSOLUTELY.

I SAID EARLIER THAT THIS WAS ABOUT INSTITUTIONAL PROGRESS AND -- INFORMATION IN FRONT OF YOU AGAIN, SHOWCASING TWO OF THE THINGS I SPOKE ABOUT IN THE PROGRAMMING.

THINGS TO BE VERY PROUD OF ARE ALL THINGS YOU SEE IN FRONT OF YOU IN TERMS OF STUDENT, REMEMBER IT MAKES REFERENCE TO THE STUDENTS RETURNING TO COLLEGE.

HE ALSO HAS IMPLICATIONS FOR ENROLLMENT GROWTH AS WELL AS COMPLETION WHICH IS ULTIMATELY THE GOAL.

THAT BEING SAID, IF YOU KNOW STUDENT POPULATION IS UP.

SINCE 2017.

LARGELY IN PART BECAUSE INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMMING IS NOT STRUCTURED TO WHERE WE INTERNATIONAL FOCUSING ON STUDENTS GETTING INTO THE COLLEGE.

DIFFERENT MULTICULTURAL ASPECTS IN THEIR WORKING TOGETHER TO ENSURE THE SEAMLESS TRANSITION OF OUR STUDENTS UPCOMING COLLEGE.

I HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO TALK TO ONE OF OUR PRESIDENTS WHO HAPPENS TO BE AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT.

HE WILL GRADUATE THIS MAY AND INCREDIBLY PROUD AND GRATEFUL FOR THE OPPORTUNITIES WE PROVIDE HIM, HE'S A STUDENT THAT WILL GRADUATE WITHIN, WHO HAS COME TO COLLEGE IN THE LAST TWO YEARS AND IN THE MIDST OF A PANDEMIC, I SPOKE TO HIM AGAIN YESTERDAY BEFORE I FINISHED TO GET READY FOR THE PRESENTATION, HE WILL LEAVE US AND GO TO -- AND IS INCREDIBLY GRATEFUL FOR THE OPPORTUNITIES YOU PROVIDED THAT OTHERWISE MIGHT NOT HAVE PRESENTED THEMSELVES TO HIM.

SO I MADE SURE I TOLD HIM I WOULD SHARE THAT WITH YOU ALL.

>> YESTERDAY SPEAK WITH DOCTOR ROBERT -- PRESIDENT OF SAN ANTONIO COLLEGE, I HATE THAT I MULTITASK WHEN I'M IN SESSIONS.

BUT IT WAS EITHER PERSISTENCE OR COMPLETION FOR THE 90 PERCENT RANGE, 91 POINT SOMETHING.

WE NEED TO TALK TO ABOUT THIS MORNING.

HOPEFULLY WE CAN BRING HIM HERE AND SHARE.

HE CAN SHARE WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND MAYBE THERE IS SOME REVOCATION FOR US.

THEY WON THE PRIZE FOR HIGHER EDUCATION.

[INAUDIBLE] >> YES.

THEY WON BEST COMMUNITY COLLEGE IN THE NATION.

>> AND STUDENT POPULATION -- >> VERY SIMILAR TO OUR STUDENT POPULATION.

>> AND WE TALKED ABOUT THIS MORNING WITH THE FRAMEWORK, TALK ABOUT THE GOALS AND METRICS, THEY BEEN ON THAT JOURNEY FOR A WHILE.

PAYING ATTENTION TO THOSE THINGS.

I'VE TALKED TO THE CHANCELLOR THERE, ABOUT OUR TEAM ENGAGING IN SOME SHARING AND LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES FROM WHAT THEY HAD DONE.

THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT.

THE CONTEXT OF ENROLLMENT CONVERSATION.

AGAIN, THIS SPEAKS TO THE INVESTMENT THAT THE BOARD HAS MADE AND KNOWING ALL THE CHALLENGES DESCRIBED THAT WE ARE SEEING POSITIVE TRENDS THAT THE STUDENTS ARE STICKING WITH US AND WILL PROVIDE A SAFETY NET FOR THEM.

>> I THINK IT IS PARTICULARLY BOARD FUNCTION TO LOOK AT THE GOAL OF

[00:30:02]

COLLEGE STUDENTS LIVING IN POVERTY.

THERE IS INCREASING PERSISTENCE AND THAT IS, YOU KNOW SPEAKS TO THE BASIC NEEDS AND WRAPAROUND SERVICES THAT WE ARE ABLE TO PROVIDE THE STUDENTS AND IN CONNECTING THIS DATA TO WHAT SPOKEN ABOUT THIS MORNING, THIS IS ONE OF THE -- THE PERSISTENCE FROM FALL TO SPRING.

ALL OF THESE DATA POINTS ARE CONNECTED.

WE ALL ARE INTENTIONALLY MOVING IN ONE DIRECTION.

SO JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT WE COULD CONNECT THAT.

>> MAYBE THAT COULD BE A GOAL IN THESE AREAS THAT WE GET.

CERTAINLY NOT OVER -- BUT FIVE, SEVEN, 10 YEARS FROM NOW BECAUSE THAT TRANSFORMATIVE -- NOT ONLY FOR THE STUDENT BUT THE COMMUNITY.

>> A QUESTION, I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE PHENOMENON.

IF WE LOSE YOU KNOW, 30 PERCENT YEAR ON YEAR, HOW MANY EVER COME BACK? HOW MANY OF THE 30 PERCENT DO WE RECOVER? IN A YEAR OR TWO YEARS, ARE THEY GONE FOREVER?

>> I THINK ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE ARE DOING DIFFERENTLY THAT IS BEEN DONE BEFORE, WE GOT A TEAM DEDICATED TO MAKING SURE THOSE STUDENTS RETURN.

SO DR. PIERCE HAS A TEAM FOR CONVERSION.

STUDENTS IT MIGHT'VE BEEN WITH US THAT LEAVE US, WE FOLLOW UP WITH THEM.

IN SOME INSTANCES, WE SAY TAKE ONE CLASS, RIGHT? JUST ONE.

THE MORE FARAWAY THEY ARE, FOR EXAMPLE, IF THEY LEFT TWO OR THREE YEARS AGO, IT MAKES A LITTLE BIT MORE DIFFICULT BECAUSE THEY HAVE A LOT GOING ON WITH THEIR LIVES.

BUT THERE ARE VARIETY OF STRATEGIES THAT DR. PIERCE'S TEAM IS UTILIZING.

AN EXACT AMOUNT, I DON'T KNOW.

I COULDN'T TELL YOU A PERCENTAGE FOR SURE.

BUT IT IS NOT A POPULATION -- WE KNOW IT IS, IF WE JUST TALK DOLLARS AND SINCE I KNOW THAT JOHN IS HERE BUT IS MORE COST-EFFECTIVE TO RETAIN A STUDENT THAN IT IS TO RECRUIT A NEW STUDENT AND WE ARE VERY AWARE OF THAT.

>> AS AN EXTENSION OF DR. JOSEPH'S CONVERSATION THE STUDENTS COME WHEN THEY STOP OUT OF COLLEGE FOR A PERIOD OF TIME THERE IS VERY INTENTIONAL WORK THAT GOES INTO A STUDENT BECAUSE OF THE MULTIPLE FACTORS THAT COME INTO PLAY.

AS DR. JOSEPH INDICATED, THIS TERM, IF THEY DON'T RETURN UNTIL FALL THAT STUDENT RETURN IS PROBABLY GOING TO BE A LITTLE LESS COMPLICATED HOWEVER, A STUDENT HAS BEEN GONE FOR MULTIPLE YEARS, THESE SUCH AS PANDEMIC OR EXTERNAL FACTORS, FINANCIAL CRISIS, HEALTH CRISIS, LIFE HAS HAPPENED AND THEY HAVE BEEN GONE, THEY HAVE TO COME BACK TO THE SYSTEM IN A DIFFERENT WAY.

THAT IS A TAILORED WAY FIRST REQUIRED TO BE ABLE TO CONNECT WITH STUDENTS IN A DIFFERENT WAY.

I SAY THIS TO YOU BECAUSE A CONVERSION TEAM IS IN FACT DOING THAT AND ENSURING THAT THE GET THOSE VERY INTENTIONAL AND METHODICAL APPROACH IS THAT REQUIRE FOR THEM TO HAVE A CONVERSATION WITH SUCCESS CODES THAT CAN BRING YOU BACK TO MORE, IT'S VERY DIFFERENT WHEN YOU GRADUATE FROM HIGH SCHOOL COMING TO COLLEGE AUTOMATICALLY.

BY THE TERMS WE HAVE TO DO SOME RESEARCH TO SEE WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE.

>> AND IT'S GOT A MUCH MORE POSITIVE CONNOTATION.

>> WITH THE PERSISTENT DATA, DR. JOSEPH MADE REFERENCE TO THE PERSISTENCE FIRST TIME IN COLLEGE STUDENTS LIVING IN POVERTY.

I ALSO WANT TO REMIND THE BOARD THAT AS AN INSTITUTION WE WERE AWARDED $74 MILLION OF FUNDS INSTRUMENTAL IN IMPACTING THAT DATA POINT FOR US.

THIS IS BEEN COMING FROM THE STUDENT SUCCESS DIVISION.

MOVING FORWARD, THIS IS SOMETHING THAT YOU ALL HAVE SEEN BEFORE.

SOME OF THE KEY STRATEGIES AND COMMUNICATIONS THAT WE HAVE DONE, WE CONTINUE TO DO THAT WORKED WELL.

MUCH OF THESE YOU ALREADY AWARE OF SOME WE TALKED ABOUT THE CONVERSATION.

CONVERSION EFFORTS AND TERMS OF ENROLLMENT.

YOU CAN SEE AS WELL, THE CONTINUED MARKINGS AS WELL AS WE TALK ABOUT POPULATIONS AND SEGMENTATION IS WHERE I MADE REFERENCE TO THE MASTER PLAYBOOK AND HOW WE BEST SERVE EACH ONE OF THOSE POPULATIONS.

THIS IS JUST A REMINDER SIDE OF WHAT WE DO AND WHAT WE'VE DONE WELL AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO, IT'S ONLY A SLICE OF THE INFORMATION THAT WE HAVE TO BE ABLE TO HELP STUDENTS.

CHRIS BASICALLY NOT A ONE-SIZE-FITS-ALL APPROACH.

>> EXACTLY.

[00:35:01]

AND WE ARE CERTAINLY MAKING, REINFORCING STRATEGIES THAT ARE WORKING WELL AND YOU JUST REMINDED ME, ONE OF THE CONVERSATIONS I CAME UP WAS THE EMPATHY FOR WOMEN.

AND THE GROUP INDICATED THAT IT WOULD DO WELL FOR BOTH, WE HAVE AFFECT ON THAT THIS YEAR THIS PAST SPRING WE DID THIS FOR MEN AND WOMEN AND RESULTS YIELDED VERY MUCH THE SAME CONVERSATIONS THAT WE TALKED ABOUT EXTERNAL FACTORS THAT ARE AFFECTING BOTH STUDENT POPULATIONS.

MOVING FORWARD THIS IS EXCITING PIECE AM EXCITED TO SHARE WITH YOU APPEARED IN FRONT OF YOU, WE HAVE SHARED WITH YOU, THANKS OUR MARKETING TEAM AND STUDENT SUCCESS DIVISION, OUR VIEWBOOK YOU WILL NOTE THAT THIS HAS A WONDERFUL FLARE TO IS CLEAR AND SHOWS ALL THE DATA FOR STUDENTS AND ALL INFORMATION THAT IS IMPORTANT.

WE ARE ALSO EXCITED ABOUT THE TRANSLATION INTO SPANISH FOR STUDENTS TO BE ABLE TO UTILIZE.

YOU ALSO NOTE YOU CAN USE US OVER A PERIOD OF TIME AND MODIFY AS WE NEED TO BUT FOR THE MOST PART THAT IS DALLAS COLLAGEN THINGS WE ARE LOOKING TOWARD IMPLEMENTING AND MOVING FORWARD TO BEST SUPPORT OUR STUDENTS.

IN TERMS OF SOME OF THE ADDED ENROLLMENT EFFORTS, THE OTHER THING IN FRONT OF YOU IS A CONGRATULATIONS.

WE HAVE AN ADMIT LETTER FOR THE DALLAS STUDENTS.

THIS LETTER CONNECTS OUR STUDENTS AND GIVES THEM SPECIFIC INFORMATION.

THE LETTER DOES ALSO SPECIFY THEY DID GET AN EMAIL FROM US IN WHICH -- IT WILL SAY DEAR TRUSTEE ZIMMERMAN, WELCOME TO DALLAS COLLEGE.

ENTER COLLEGE COACHES HERE TO HELP YOU AND YOU WILL BE ABLE TO CONNECT EASILY THROUGH THAT SEAMLESS TRANSITION VIA EMAIL.

PARENTS ARE ALSO CONTACTED AS WELL IN THE EARLY ADMIN PROCESS TO HELP KEEP STUDENTS CONNECTED.

WE ARE EQUALLY EXCITED ABOUT THE UPCOMING IMPLEMENTATION OF STUDENT ORIENTATION.

CERTAINLY -- [INAUDIBLE] AT A FUTURE BOARD MEETING I'M SURE WE WILL TALK ABOUT THE ORIENTATION AND HOW WE WORK TOGETHER ON THAT.

RESEARCH TELLS US WE NEED PARTICIPATION IN STUDENT ORIENTATIONS, IT'S MANDATORY YOU'RE MORE LIKELY TO PERSIST.

THIS WILL BE SOMETHING THAT IS FOR STUDENTS TO GO THROUGH.

LASTLY BUT NOT LEAST ACADEMIC PROGRAMS, I LIKE TO THINK THE ACADEMIC COLLEAGUES DOCTOR MORRISON AND OTHERS TODAY.

WE HAVE HAD THE CONVERSATION IN RELATION TO BE ABLE TO MARKETING THOROUGHLY AND PROMOTING WELL, ALL PROGRAMS. IN THE LAST BOARD MEETING FEBRUARY WE TALKED ABOUT DEMANDS PARTICULARLY THROUGH THE SCHOOL AND HEALTH SCIENCES.

AND HOW WE ARE RESPONDING TO THAT.

ONE OF THE THINGS I WANTED TO DRAW YOUR ATTENTION TO WAS THAT IN CREATING THE PLANS WE ARE DOING AND MOVING TOWARDS MORE OF A STRATEGIC ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT PROCESS, WE WILL BE VERY INTENTIONAL ABOUT MARKETING PROGRAMS. SOME ACADEMIC PROGRAMS WE HAVE BEEN ASKED TO SHOWCASE PREDOMINANTLY AND AGAIN NOT LIMITED TO THIS, FOCUSING ON THESE THINGS BECAUSE WE KNOW THEY WILL YIELD A HIGHER-PAYING WAGE AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS.

THAT IS SPEC SCIENCES.

I WANTED TO SHARE IT WITH THE GROUP AS IT RELATES TO SOME EXAMPLES HOW WE'RE GOING TO DO WORK COLLABORATING WITH ACADEMICS AND WORK FORCE DEVELOPMENT TO MAKE SURE WE'RE PROMOTING THOSE PROGRAMS.

>> YOU'RE IDENTIFYING CERTAIN ACADEMIC PROGRAMS TO HIGHLIGHT TO THE STUDENTS?

>> UH-HUH.

>> AND THEN, THIS DALLAS LETTER, I'M EXCITED TO READ IT.

IT'S WELL WORDED.

I IMAGINE THE PARENTS WHO RECEIVE IT WILL BE EXCITE TODAY BEGIN THE JOURNEY.

>> THANK YOU.

WE APPRECIATE THAT.

OF THE WE'RE EXCITE TODAY HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE ABLE TO DO THIS AND MOVE THIS FORWARD AND REALLY PRESENT THAT WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT THAT WE WANT TO DO WITH OUR STUDENTS AND FAMILIES.

>> I'M CURIOUS, WHO CRAFTED THE WORDING?

[00:40:05]

(LAUGHTER) (SIMULTANEOUS SPEAKING)

>> BETWEEN THE TWO OF US, WE CAME UP WITH SOMETHING.

>> IT WAS A COLLABORATIVE EFFORT.

YOU'RE SPOT-ON.

ABSOLUTELY RIGHT.

>> WELL DONE.

>> THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

OUR WILL CALL FOR US TO BE ABLE TO CREATE SOME TYPE OF BRIDGE PROGRAMMING WE WILL BE ABLE TO PROVIDE OUR STUDENT POPULATIONS TO CONNECT THEM FROM HIGH SCHOOL TO COLLEGE.

ONE FOCUSED ON IS SHORING UP OUR TEXAS SUCCESS INITIATIVE ASSESSMENT IN TERMS OF PROVIDING SUPPORT FOR COLLEGE COURSE PLACEMENT.

THAT IS ONE OF THE THINGS WE'RE WORKING ON WE'VE NOT DONE BEFORE TO PUSH THIS SUMMER TO DO BETTER AND ENSURE OUR STUDENTS DO WELL AS THEY MOVE FORWARD.

LAST YOU IS A SNAPSHOT OF WHAT YOU'RE SEEING ALREADY IN THE VIEW BOOK.

THIS COMES BACK TO YOU.

THE IT'S IN THIS.

THE OPPORTUNITIES THAT STUDENTS HAVE, WE TALKED ABOUT EARLIER ON IN TERMS OF THESE BREAKOUTS.

I SAID TO YOU ALL, WE FOCUSED EARL STUDENT-CENTRIC AND RELEVANT ACADEMIC PROGRAMS. ONE OF THE THINGS THIS DOES IS TALK ABOUT AND ALLOWS US TO MEET OUR STUDENTS WHERE THEY'RE AT.

MEETING STUDENTS WHERE THEY'RE AT, WE TALK ABOUT TIME MANAGEMENT AND COST EFFECTIVENESS.

WHAT WE'VE DONE IS PROVIDED A SOLUTION FOR OUR STUDENTS THAT ALLOWS THEM TO EXPLORE THE MANY OPTIONS THAT WE HAD, WHETHER IT BE 1-3 MONTHS OR A SERIES OF YEARS.

I THINK WE'RE ANSWERING THE CALL AS DALLAS COLLEGE TO BE ABLE TO DO THE VERY BEST WORK THAT WE ARE DOING AS IT RELATES TO THIS PARTICULAR PROGRAM WE REFERENCE.

AND ALL OF THE THINGS THAT WE'RE DOING UNDER THE STRATEGIC ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT EFFORTS.

I THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING US TO PRESENT.

[00:45:01]

AND WE HOPE TO KEEP THE CONVERSATION GOING.

(SIMULTANEOUS SPEAKING) (LAUGHTER)

>> I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING.

SHE'S TALKING IN SPANISH, BUT IN ENGLISH.

(LAUGHTER)

>> YEAH.

YOU CAN BREATHE NOW.

>> GOOD PRESENTATION.

>> I LIKE IT.

>> GOOD JOB.

THANK YOU.

>> THANK YOU FOR THE PRESENTATION.

I FEEL LIKE I HAVE A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF THE CAUSES OF THE NORMAL DECLINE.

YOU LAID IT OUT REALLY, REALLY WELL FOR US.

AND ALSO, WE'RE READING INTO PICKING UP ON THE CONVERSATION THAT WE HAD THIS MORNING ON METRICS.

WE NEED A METRIC ON ENROLLMENT RECOVERY.

IT TOOK US TWO YEARS TO GET INTO THIS.

THE FOR THE REASONS YOU DESCRIBED WELL, HOW DO WE GET OUT OF THIS IN TWO YEARS? LET'S LEAN IN ON THAT TOGETHER.

IT'S GOING TO TAKE A LOT OF WORK AND EFFORT.

WHATEVER YOU COME UP WITH, PUT IT IN PERFORMANCE FOR US.

>> YES, SIR.

>> THAT WAY WILL BE DONE.

THANK YOU FOR THE PRESENTATION.

>> THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

>> I WAS GOING TO SAY I APPRECIATE THE WORK OF THE TEAM.

THIS DOES DEMONSTRATE THE ISSUES THAT WE HAVE.

AND WE'VE GOT A LOT OF MAKEUP TO DO.

AND THE WAY WE TALK ABOUT ENROLLMENT, IT'S NOT ABOUT US.

IT'S NOT ABOUT ALL OF THOSE THINGS.

IT'S ABOUT OPPORTUNITY FOR INDIVIDUALS THAT ARE NOT TAKING ADVANTAGE OF WHAT WE OFFER.

SO W TO BE CREATIVE ABOUT WAYS THAT WE CAN HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY.

>> ISN'T IT A HISTORIC FACT THAT WHEN THE ECONOMY STARTS TO FALL OFF THAT COMMUNITY COLLEGES DO KICK BACK IN JUST ON THEIR OWN?

>> IT HAS BEEN.

HISTORICALLY, PEOPLE ARE COMING BACK TO OUR DOORS TO RETRAIN.

AND BENEFIT FROM THE COST FACTOR OF OUR INSTITUTION.

SO CERTAINLY, AS WE LOOK AHEAD AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS, WE'LL BE TAKING THAT INTO CONSIDERATION.

>> VERY WELL DONE BROCHURE AS WELL.

>> OH, YEAH.

I LIKE THAT.

>> THANK YOU.

>> THANK YOU.

(LAUGHTER)

>> VERY GOOD.

>> IT'S 4:07:00 P.M.

WE'LL ADJOURN THE EDUCATIONAL WORK FORCE AND CONVENE AT 4:15 IN THE BOARD ROOM.

THANK YOU.
