I'LL CALL TO ORDER THE EDUCATION BOARD.

WE HAVE A QUORUM WITH 5 BOARD MEMBERS OF THE ROOM.

[1. Roll Call - Announcement of a Quorum]

WITH ITS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE TEXAS GOVERNMENT CODE 55.001.

[INAUDIBLE] THIS COMMITTEE MEETING COULD BE BROADCAST OVER THE INTERNET AND AUDIO TRANSCRIPT WILL BE MADE AND AVAILABLE ON THE PUBLIC WEBSITE AT A LATER DATE.

>> MR. CHAIR I CERTIFY THIS MEETING WAS POSTED IN ACCORDANCE TO THE TEXAS

[2. Certification of Notice Posted for the Meeting]

GOVERNMENT CODE 55 POINT 001.

[INAUDIBLE] WITH GOD COUPLE OF PRESENTATIONS TODAY.

[4.1. Indusry Sector & School of Health Science Update]

THE FIRST ONE WILL BE TIMELY AND IMPORTANT FOR THE COMMITTEE INDUSTRY.

IN THE SCHOOL OF HEALTH SCIENCE UPDATE.

LED BY SHAWNDA FLOYD AND RUN BY BEN MAGIL AND GREG MORRIS.

BEFORE TURNING OVER TO YOU I WANT TO WELCOME OUR GUEST STEVE LOVE.

WERE GLAD TO HAVE YOU HERE.

THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU'VE DONE FOR THIS COMMITTEE IN THE PAST FEW YEARS.

AND YOU'VE PROVIDED SO MUCH INFORMATION ABOUT THE PANDEMIC AND THE ABILITY TO RESPOND TO THAT PANDEMIC.

IT'S BEEN A TREMENDOUS EFFORT BY REGISTRY AND YOU PERSONALLY.

WE ARE GRATEFUL TO YOU AND YOUR MEMBERSHIP FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO TO KEEP US HEALTHY AND TO DO THE RIGHT THING.

THAT'S WHAT MOTIVATES THIS PRESENTATION.

WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF A PUBLIC HEALTH CRISIS.

THIS COLLEGE HAS AN IMPORTANT ROLE TO PLAY IN ADDRESSING THIS CRISIS ESPECIALLY AS IT PERTAINS TO THE WORKFORCE.

THAT'S THE TOPIC OF OUR AGENDA TODAY.

AT THAT WE WILL TURN IT OVER TO YOU.

>> THANK YOU.

GOOD AFTERNOON CHAIR AND TRUSTEES.

WERE PLEASED TO BRING YOU THE SECTION EDUCATED UPDATE.

[INAUDIBLE] YOU WANT TO LOOK AT THIS PRESENTATION AS A SUPPLY AND DEMAND PRESENTATION.

WHAT IS A DISCRETE DEMANDING? WHAT ARE WE SUPPLYING? AS IT'S BEEN STATED BY MY SENIOR FOR ACADEMIC SERVICES DOCTOR GREG MORRIS HE'S GOING TO GO OVER THE PRESENTATION AND INTRODUCE OUR SPECIAL GUEST.

>> GOOD AFTERNOON.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

THEN AND I DISCUSSED FOR THIS MEETING AND STEVE, WE ARE HONORED TO HAVE YOU HERE TODAY.

WE WOULD LIKE TO ASK YOU, IT'S SO IMPORTANT FOR US TO FIRST GET THE CUSP OF INDUSTRY AND HOW YOU ALL HAVE BEEN ADVOCATING THE LAST FEW YEARS.

I THINK IT WOULD BE A GREAT SEGUE INTO THE PRESENTATION THAT BEN AND I ARE DOING.

WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU FOR A FEW MOMENTS WE APPRECIATE YOUR TIME TODAY.

>> THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

IT'S A PLEASURE TO BE WITH YOU.

THANK YOU FOR ASKING ME TO PARTICIPATE.

A COUPLE OF THINGS THAT I WILL SAY, PRIOR TO THE PANDEMIC WE HAD PROBLEMS WITH WORKFORCE.

WORKFORCE IS AGING.

MANY OF THE AVERAGE AGE OF NURSES ESPECIALLY CONTINUES TO INCREASE.

WE HAVE QUITE A FEW PEOPLE RETIRING AND LEAVING THE WORKFORCE.

IN ADDITION TO THAT WE'VE GOT THE PANDEMIC AS YOU WELL KNOW THAT WE HAVE HAD TO DEAL WITH FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS.

UNTIL WORKFORCE IN ADDITION TO WHAT THEY WERE DEALING WITH PREVIOUSLY IS TIRED, FATIGUED.

WE'VE GOT 50 PERCENT OF THE WORKFORCE IN A RECENT SURVEY SAID THEY HAD EMOTIONAL AND MENTAL STRESS AS RESULT OF THE PANDEMIC.

WE DO HAVE TO DEAL WITH THAT.

MANY OF THE SHORTAGES, NOT ONLY FOR NURSERIES, THE RESPIRATORY THERAPISTS, CT SCANNER TECHNOLOGY, WE HAVE SCRUB NURSES, ETC. WE COULDN'T HAVE A BETTER PARTNER THE DALLAS COLLEGE.

WE'VE HAD A LONG-STANDING RELATIONSHIP WITH DALLAS COLLEGE.

YOU'VE WORKED WITH US NOT ONLY THROUGH YOUR NURSING PROGRAM BUT, WE'VE BEEN INVOLVED WITH YOU ON TEXAS WORKFORCE COMMISSION GRANTS.

WE ARE IN III YEAR OF DEPARTMENT OF LABOR GRANT WE ARE WORKING WITH YOU ON AND WE ARE APPRECIATIVE OF THAT.

WERE WORKING WITH BEN ON A NEW INITIATIVE TO HELP SUPPORT.

THAT I KNOW HE WILL GO INTO.

OUR WORKFORCE IS STRAINED.

[00:05:04]

IF YOU LOOK AT SOME OF THE PROJECTIONS, POST PANDEMIC.

WE ARE STILL GOING TO HAVE MANY OF THE SAME NEEDS AND WE WILL STILL NEED TO LOOK AT CRITICAL SHORTAGES AND WORK WITH PARTNERS LIKE DALLAS COLLEGE SO WE CAN FILL THOSE.

I WILL STOP THERE BECAUSE I KNOW BEN HAS A PRESENTATION BUT, WE WANT TO THANK ALL OF YOU FOR THE SUPPORT YOU'VE GIVEN US THE LAST 2 AND A HALF YEARS ESPECIALLY DURING THIS PANDEMIC.

>> WONDER IF ANYBODY, WHILE WE'VE GOT STEVE WITH US IF ANY OF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTION SPECIFICALLY FOR STEVE BEFORE BEN AND I JUMP INTO THE PRESENTATION?

>> NOT A QUESTION, THIS IS JOE, I APPRECIATE THE PARTNERSHIP AND PARTNERSHIP THAT WE'VE HAD WITH YOU WITH THE VFW HOSPITAL ASSOCIATION.

IN THIS ALLOWED US TO DO BETTER TO REACH OUT TO THE STUDENTS.

>> THANK YOU.

>> THE ONLY THING I WOULD ADD STEVE IS YOUR MEMBERS HAVE BEEN SUCH A PART OF DOLLARS COLLEGE FOR 54 YEARS.

I THINK BOB FERGUSON WHOSE HELD THE SEAT I'VE HELD BEFORE HIM CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF TEXAS RESOURCES BROUGHT THAT PERSPECTIVE.

DOUG HAWTHORNE IS A TRUSTEE OF THAT DALLAS COLLEGE FOUNDATION FOR 2004 €" CAMPAIGN.

THERE'S A DEEP SYMBIOSIS BETWEEN THE COLLEGE IN OUR INDUSTRY.

WE ARE LOOKING TO DEEPEN IT EVEN FURTHER WITH YOUR MEMBERS.

SO THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

>> THANK YOU.

>> GREG?

>> STEVE, THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN.

YOU'RE WELCOME TO STAY WITH US.

I'M SURE YOU'VE GOT MANY THINGS TO DO.

AGAIN, THANK YOU FOR BEING WITH US TODAY.

WAIT WE THOUGHT BEN AND I WOULD PRESENT TODAY IS A 3 DIFFERENT KEY CHUNKS.

BEN WILL PIGGY BANK OFF TO WHAT STEVE HAS SHARED WITH US AND SHARE SOME OF THE REAL NUMBERS THAT HIM AND HIS TEAM HAVE BEEN DIGGING INTO DEEPLY TO REALLY SHOW I THINK THE EXTENT OF THE DEPTH OF SOME OF THE CHALLENGES FACING US.

ALSO MEMBERS OF THE HOSPITAL SYSTEMS ACROSS THE VFW.

THEN I WANT TO TAKE A FEW MOMENTS BECAUSE MANY OF YOU HAVE ASKED TO GIVE US AN UPDATE ON THE SCHOOL SCIENCES.

WHEN WE BECAME DALLAS COLLEGE THE SCHOOL OF HEALTH SCIENCE BECAME A SINGLE ENTITY.

WANT TO SPEAK SPECIFICALLY TO REVIEW SOME OF OUR PROGRAMMING DEPTH AND SHARE WITH YOU NEW INNOVATIONS AND THINGS WE'VE BEEN DOING TO MEET HOSPITAL SYSTEMS AND OTHER SYSTEMS ACROSS THE FW.

I'M WORKING TO CLOSE TODAY.

STEVE MENTIONED EARLIER BEN AND HIS WORK ON THE OPPORTUNITIES WE HAVE.

PRETTY SIGNIFICANT GRANT OPPORTUNITY THAT FOCUSES ON BIOTECH WHICH AS YOU KNOW REALLY CROSSES BOTH HEALTH SCIENCE AND OTHER AREAS.

THEN I WILL ASK YOU TO JUMP IN AND TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE STATUS OF THE FW.

>> EXCELLENT.

LET'S JUMP INTO THE NUMBERS HERE.

SOME OF THIS WILL BE A REITERATION OF WHAT STEVE WAS TALKING ABOUT BUT, EVEN BEFORE THE PANDEMIC HEALTHCARE AND SOCIAL ASSISTANCE AS THE HISTORY OFFICIALLY REGISTERED IN THE BOOKS.

IT'S THE LARGEST INDUSTRY INTO THE FW.

I SAY LARGEST BY NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES.

THERE ARE MORE PEOPLE WORKING IN HEALTHCARE AND SOCIAL SYSTEMS THAN ANY OTHER SECTOR.

SINCE THE PANDEMIC THE INDUSTRY HAS GAINED OVER 10,000 JOBS INCREASING BY 3 PERCENT.

OF COURSE YOU SAW THE NEWS ARTICLE THERE IS ALL KINDS OF MONIES BEING IMPORTANT TO TRY TO MEET THE NEED.

WORKERS AND COMPANIES ACROSS EVERY SECTOR OF THE ECONOMY ARE CURSED AND THE DEMANDS ARE AMPLIFIED WITHIN THE HEALTHCARE.

IN CITY FOR TOUGHER SITUATION WITH HEALTHCARE SYSTEM.

THE SIZE OF THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WORKING IN HEALTHCARE, 389,000+.

THE LAST 12 MONTHS HUNDRED AND 7000 JOB POSTINGS IN THE INDUSTRY WHICH MEANS EACH ONE OF THOSE IS A SPECIFIC JOB THAT NEEDS TO BE FILLED.

NOT SOMEONE POSTING 10 JOB OPPORTUNITIES TO TRY €".

THIS UNIQUE JOB POSTINGS.

PROJECTED GROWTH WITHIN TH NEXT YEAR.

OVER 50,000 JOBS IN THE NEXT YEAR IN HEALTHCARE WHICH IS ASTRONOMICAL.

[INAUDIBLE] BACK TO YOU.

[00:10:03]

>> WITH SOME OF THE.[INAUDIBLE] I THOUGHT WE WOULD START WITH HIGH LEVEL NUMBERS AND THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS AND GRADUATES IN THE INDUSTRY.

WE HAVE 6700 STUDENTS THAT ARE ENROLLED IN THE SCHOOL OF HEALTH SCIENCES.

IN A MINUTE TO SHARE WITH YOU WHAT SOME OF THE PROGRAMS ARE.

WERE GRADUATING CLOSE TO 900 GRADUATES EVERY SINGLE ACADEMIC YEAR DIRECTLY BEING PLACED INTO THE HEALTHCARE INDUSTRY.

I WOULD SAY ABOUT 90 PERCENT OF THOSE STUDENTS, THEY HAVE A LICENSURE REQUIREMENT THAT WOULD BE OBTAINED TO GO OUT INTO THE FIELD.

>> WE COULD COME BACK TO THAT.

THAT'S BOTH A GREAT THING FOR COMPETENCY AND IT PUTS A ON TERMS OF THE PEOPLE WE SERVE.

>> I'M GLAD YOU MENTIONED THAT.

THIS NEXT SLIDE, THIS SHOWS THERE ABOUT 21 PROGRAMS ON HERE.

THESE ARE CREDIT PROGRAMS. I WILL TALK ABOUT PROGRAMS WE HAVE OTHER SPACES.

THESE ARE ABOUT 21 OF THE TOP PROGRAMS WE HAVE IN NURSING AT THE Y HELLO.

LOVE TIMES WE TALK ABOUT HEALTH SCIENCE IN OUR IMMEDIATE FOCUS IS NURSING WHICH IS A CRITICAL NEED.

WE UNDERESTIMATE THE SHIRT VOLUME OF ALLIED HEALTH AND OTHER RELATED PERSPECTIVES AND CAREERS IN THIS AREA.

I WANT TO TALK ABOUT 4 SPECIFIC AREAS TO GIVE YOU A HIGHLIGHT OF THE DEPTH AND BREATH THAT DALLAS COLLEGE TRULY REACHES.

MOST OF YOU WE HAVE AN EMT AND PARAMEDIC PROGRAM.

WE SERVE OVER 3 TO 400 STUDENTS EVERY YEAR.

TRUSTEE BOYD WHO HAVE MENTIONED THIS AND OTHER MEETINGS.

I'VE ASKED SOME OF OUR CHAIRS TO GIVE ME SOME RELEVANT DATA.

WERE CURRENTLY SERVING OVER 25 MUNICIPALITIES FOR THE MTA.

THAT'S EITHER THROUGH DIRECT EMT COMPANIES, FIRE DEPARTMENTS OR OTHER HOSPITALS.

IT'S PROBABLY FAR US OUT NORTH.

ONE OF THE THINGS OUR CHART WAS SHORT WITH ME THE OTHER DAY WAS WE HAVE STUDENTS THAT ARE PASSING THROUGH 2 AND 3 COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICTS TO COME AND ENROLL IN OUR EMT PROGRAM.

OUR FIRE DEPARTMENT SPECIFICALLY LIKE OUR PROGRAM BECAUSE WE TRULY, WE TRULY CUSTOMIZE OUR PROGRAM TO MEET SIGNIFICANTLY THERE WORK HOURS.

SOME ARE REALLY TOUCHING A LOT OF LIVES BOTH IN OUR CIVILIAN POPULATION BUT, ALSO IN INDIVIDUALS THAT ARE CURRENTLY FIREFIGHTER WITH HUMISTON MUNICIPALITIES.

€" YOU MENTIONED ABOUT CAST.

I WANT TO TALK ABOUT OUR REGISTERED NURSING PROGRAM.

TO GIVE YOUR RECAP WE HAVE SEVERAL NURSING PATHWAYS.

WE HAVE AN LDM PROGRAM.

OUR MOST POPULAR IS HER ETIENNE.

THAT'S HER ASSOCIATE DEGREE AND NURSING.

THAT'S A DIRECT PATH TO A REGISTERED NURSE LICENSURE.

I SHOWED SOME NUMBERS UP THERE TO GIVE YOU THE EXTENT OF HOW LARGE OUR PROGRAM IS.

THIS WILL HAVE 692 CONTINUING NURSING STUDENTS AND WE WILL ADMIT FOR THE FIRST TIME 220 STUDENTS INTO OUR NOW SINGLE NURSING PROGRAM.

AS YOU PROBABLY WILL REALIZE WHERE 3 NURSING PROGRAMS OFFER 3 LOCATIONS.

WE RECEIVED BOARD OF NURSING APPROVAL AND WE WILL OFFER THE SAME NURSING PROGRAM.

DOCTOR ME TO YOUR POINT.

ONE OF THE STRUGGLES WITH THIS IS WE COULD EASILY INCREASE THIS CAPACITY.

THE TEXAS BOARD OF NURSING PLACES PRESCRIPTIONS ON HOW MANY STUDENTS WE CAN TAKE.

WITHIN OUR PROGRAM IS APPROVED FOR A NUMBER OF STUDENTS.

YOU CAN'T EXCEED THAT ARE 25 PERCENT.

IT WAS FOR EXCESSIVE BEING ABLE TO INCREASEAND WE CONTINUE TO WORK ON IT WITH THE LEGISLATURE AND WITH NURSING.

>> WHY IS THERE CAP?

[INAUDIBLE] >> THERE'S REALLY NOT A GOOD REASON I THINK FOR PUBLIC HEALTH TO DO IT.

THERE WAS A REASON THAT PEOPLE IN ANY FIELD WANT TO CONTROL THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE THAT GET INTO THE FIELD.

WE CARE ABOUT KEEPING SALARIES HIGH AND DISTRIBUTING ACCESS.

I WOULD GO EVEN FURTHER NOT ONLY IS THAT, TEXAS ONE OF THE STATES THAT DOESN'T HAVE €" WITH OTHER STATES.

YOU CAN EVEN MOVE HERE WITH NURSING CERTIFICATION OR CAN THE STATE OF TEXAS WITHOUT GOING THROUGH A PROGRAM HERE IN THE STATE.

I THINK IT'S BAD POLICY.

CERTAINLY WE NEED QUALITY CONTROL.

I THINK THAT WE ARE REALLY KEEPING OUT A LARGE NUMBER OF PEOPLE THAT WE REALLY

[00:15:07]

NEED A WORKFORCE.

>> WHO LEGISLATURES?

>> IS A STATE BOARD OF NURSING.

THAT IS A LEGISLATIVE CREATED ENTITY.

>> THEN TO ME BECAUSE I WA A CUSTOMER.

I WAS 750 NURSES SHORT ONE DAY.

AND I GO TO AUSTIN AND I'VE NEVER IN MY 30 YEARS OF BEING AROUND THIS TYPE OF STUFF I NEVER HEARD OF THE.

>> DOCTORS, VETERINARIANS.

>> UNDERSTAND.

>> AT SOME POINTS THERE'S 2 TYPES OF CAPS FRANKLY.

YOU'VE GOT THE STATE BOARD OF NURSING THAT WILL DECIDE WHEN A PROGRAM CAN DO IN AN AREA.

MANY ALSO HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF THE CLINICAL SIDE ISSUE THAT ENDS UP DRIVING THAT.

I THINK, IN THEIR MIND THERE'S A PECKING ORDER WHICH IS ANOTHER REASON WHY WE NEED TO MOVE THE PARTY LIST.

IN THAT REGARD.

THE REAL ISSUE IS WHAT LECTURE PROGRAM IS ALLOWED TO GO.

>> I THINK WE AS AN INSTITUTION SHOULD TAKE THAT ON AND MAKE IT A PRIORITY FOR OUR INSTITUTION OF TAKING THAT CHALLENGE ON.

>> I COULD TELL YOU WE'VE HAVE.

ALL INSTITUTION SOUTH.

WE WILL CONTINUE TO DO THAT.

WE CAN TALK OFF-LINE OF WHY IT'S MORE OF A CHALLENGE THAT IT APPEARS.

I THINK IT YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE RECORD AND DO IT.

>> I THINK THAT'S THE ROLE OF THIS BOARD.

THUS THE ROLE OF TRUSTEES.

IT'S NOT JUST THE STAFF, IT'S OUR JOB.

WE NEED TO BE MORE ENGAGED AND MORE INVOLVED AND WE START INVITING OUR LEGISLATIVE PEOPLE IN HERE AND HAVING A KNOCKDOWN DRAG OUT DISCUSSION.

AND THEN MOVE ON.

LIKE THE FINANCE COMMITTEE.

LET'S GO.

>> WE WON'T TAKE ANOTHER NURSE FROM ANOTHER STATE.

AND THEY HAVE TO DO SOME TYPE OF CERTIFICATION.

IT IS A LONG CERTIFICATION PROCESS.

>> ABOUT A YEAR.

>> BECAUSE SO MANY PEOPLE ARE MOVING HERE BUT THEY CAN'T PRACTICE.

>> YEAH, 19 OTHER STATES.[INAUDIBLE].

THEY DID TO A WAIVER DURING THE PANDEMIC AND OVAL.

>> THESE TRAVEL NURSES THAT SO MANY HOSPITALS ARE LOSING NURSES BECAUSE HER GETTING MORE MONEY TO GO TO OTHER CITIES.

SO THEY ARE TAKING OUR CERTIFICATION BUT WE CAN'T TAKE IT BACK.

>> WERE TURNING PEOPLE AWAY FOR OUR NURSING BECAUSE OF THE CAP.

>> IS ONE OF THE FEW PROGRAMS THAT IS COMPETITIVE.

I WOULD SAY WE PROBABLY TURN AWAY 5 TO 600 MAY BE APPLICANTS.

SOME OF THOSE MAY NOT MEET QUALIFICATIONS.

THAT DOESN'T.[INAUDIBLE].

>> IS GREAT.

IT'S JUST FRUSTRATING.

IT'S FRUSTRATING TO HEAR.

>> THAT'S NOT THE ONLY PROGRAM AREA EITHER WHERE WE BASE SIMILAR ISSUES THAT ARE THERE.

YOU KNOW WHEN YOU GET INTO PART OF THE ACCREDITATION PROCESS, THE LICENSURE, THERE ARE ALWAYS CONTROLS IN THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS JUST ABOUT EVERYWHERE.

>> YOU MENTIONED THOSE 2 OTHER PROGRAMS I THANK YOU'D BE INTERESTED IN.

ONE IS OUR.[INAUDIBLE] WE SERVE ABOUT 750 STUDENTS A YEAR.

IT'S EXCLUSIVELY AN ONLINE PROGRAM WITH THE EXCEPTION OF CLINICAL TIME.

IT'S A GOOD PROGRAM.

WE PULL IN A NATIONAL AUDIENCE WITH THIS PROGRAM.

FINALLY, PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN.

HE PROBABLY HEARD ME MENTION THAT BEFORE.

[00:20:05]

WE HAVE OVER 2700 STUDENTS THAT ARE ENROLLED IN PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN PROGRAM.

WISHES MERELY AN ENTRY-LEVEL CAREER PATHWAY.

ABOUT 1500 OTHER STUDENTS BUILD CREDIT AND WE WORK WITH €" AND THEIR TEAM TO PARTNER WITH HIGH SCHOOLS TO OFFER THAT PROGRAM AS WELL.

IT ALSO LEADS TO AN ACADEMIC CERTIFICATION AND HOSPITAL GRADUATES.

>> WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?

>> VERY SIMILAR.

A LOT OF THE SAME SKILLS.

SOMETIMES PATIENT CARE TECHNICIANS IS JUST TEMPORARY TECHNOLOGY FOR CNA'S.

[INAUDIBLE] >> ASSISTED LIVING THEY DON'T HAVE TO BE A CNA.

>> PATIENT CARE THAT'S TOLD $15 AN HOUR.

>> TO REASON WHY IT'S IMPORTANT CAREER PATH.

ONE IS AN ENTRY-LEVEL AND IT DOESN'T HAVE AN OMISSION PIECE.

WE SERVICE A LOT OF INDIVIDUALS FROM OUR COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL WHICH REALLY CAN EARN A LIVING WAGE WHICH IS PROPERLY ON THE LOW SIDE.

ORTHOTIC HOSPITALS ARE MORE RECENTLY THEY UPPED THE PATIENT HEALTHCARE TO 18 OR $19 CHILD.

IT IS AN ENTRY-LEVEL PATHWAY.

FOR ALL OUR PROGRAMS, WE GIVE EXTRA POINTS FOR ADMISSION ONCE A STUDENT IS A PATIENT CARE TECH AND ALLOWS THEM AND DEMONSTRATES THAT THEY CAN REALLY MASTER SOME OF THOSE BASIC NEEDS.

>> ONE OF THE THINGS I'VE OBSERVED AND THAT'S ONE OF OUR DUAL CREDIT.

THEY HAD A CLASS SOONER GRADUATES TAKE.

[INAUDIBLE] THE PROBLEM WE HAVE WITH THAT TYPE OF PERSON GOING INTO PATIENT CARE, THEIR 1718-YEAR-OLD INDIVIDUALS WHO REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT THEIR GETTING INTO.

WONDER HOW WE COMBINE THAT AND FILL THAT GAP IT'S AN ISSUE AND CONCERN OF THE EMPLOYER.

>> I, YOUR COMMENT REALLY HELPS GROW INTO THIS NEXT CONVERSATION.

WE TAKE THE PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN AND WE'VE MADE ADVANCEMENTS FOR SOME OF THE BUSINESS INDUSTRY.

BEFORE WE GO THERE ONE HIGHLIGHT A COUPLE OF PROGRAMS. I MENTIONED EARLIER ABOUT ARMOR NURSING PROGRAM.

WE WILL HAVE A SINGLE ADF PROGRAM THIS FALL.

SEVERAL OF YOU HAVE ASKED BEFORE ABOUT LICENSURE RATES.

THAT'S INCREDIBLE PEACE IN OUR ACCREDITATION.

I'VE INCLUDED OUR CURRENT PASSAGE RATES FOR OUR 3 PROGRAMS. JUST TO GIVE YOU A LITTLE BIT OF CONTEXT WERE TEACHING OUT RIGHT NOW REMAINING PROGRAMS THAT WE WILL START OUR FIRST CLASS THIS FALL.

THE LICENSURE PASSAGE RATE ARE UP.

WERE STILL MAINTAINING A GOOD PASSAGE RATE.

>> WHAT IS SET MEAN.[INAUDIBLE] >> RESTAURANT CURRENTLY TEACHING OUT THE PREVIOUSLY THE TRIPLE CD, BROOKE HAVENS, MOUNT HAVEN AND €" WITH THE 3 DIFFERENT PROGRAMS. WERE LOOKING FORWARD TO HAVING A SINGLE PROGRAM OF BEING ABLE TO PLACE.

THIS IS ONE OF THE THINGS WE COULD NEVER ACCOMPLISH BEFORE RICK BECAME DALLAS COLLEGE.

>> BACK ON SLIDE 5.

WHEN 6700 STUDENTS ENROLLED IN THE SCHOOL.

AT 15 PERCENT GRADUATION.

SET A LOW GRADUATION RATE? IT SEEMS LIKE THAT NUMBER SHOULD BE HIGHER ESPECIALLY HER WHEN IT'S TO YOUR CERTIFICATION.

>> SO, IT DEPENDS.

THE VAST MAJORITY OF OUR NURSING PROGRAMS WE ADMIT NEW CLASSES EVERY SEMESTER.

TYPICALLY MOST OF OUR NURSING PROGRAMS AND ARE IN A FORCED SEMESTER SEQUENCE.

IF WE START A SMOOTH FRESHMAN CLASS WE WILL DEFAULT, NEXT SPRING ON THE NEXT FALL AND NEXT SPRING IN THE GRADUATE.

WITHIN THOSE 6700 STUDENTS YOU'VE GOT 4 SEMESTERS BUT THEY'RE WORKING THROUGH.

[00:25:08]

COULD BE HIGHER, YES.

>> THAT LEAVES ONLY 25 PERCENT ARE ELIGIBLE TO GRADUATE AT THE END OF EVERY TERM.

IT'S NOT REALLY OUT OF WHACK.

I COULD SEE WHERE YOU'RE GOING.

[INAUDIBLE] >> IF YOU TAKE OUR 6700 YOU CAN DIVIDE THAT BY 4.

THAT WOULD BE A SENSE OF PERSON MUSTER THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS THAT WOULD BE IN.

AGAIN, €¦ PARKS LOOKS LIKE 24 SOMETHING.

>> DEPENDS ON THE AREA.

THE RESTRICTED ACCESS PROGRAMS, EXTREMELY HIGH PERCENT.

THE OPEN ACCESS PROGRAMS WE START TO SEE FOLKS NOT FINISH.

>> AND THAT INCLUDES PROGRAMS LIKE PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN, MEDICAL BILLING, AND ENTRY-LEVEL, TYPICALLY ARE INFLATION RATES ARE LOWER.

ONCE YOU GET INTO SOME OF THE SELECTED ADMISSIONS WE HAVE 90 TO 95 PERCENT RETENTION.

I DID WANT TO FEATURE A COUPLE OF HIGHLIGHTS OF PROGRAMS THAT I THANK YOU ALL WOULD BE INTERESTED IN HEARING ABOUT.

ABOUT 6 YEARS AGO WE ACQUIRED A DENTAL HYGIENE PROGRAM FROM A COLLEGE.

SINCE THEN OR NOW IN HER SIXTH YEAR.

WE HAVE HUNDRED PERCENT PASSING RATES FOR THE STUDENTS.

IT'S INTERESTING JUST YESTERDAY WE FINALIZE THE PLAN TO MOVE HER TO THE CLINIC TOUR DOWNTOWN LOCATION.

WE OPENED UP SUCCESSFULLY YESTERDAY AND IT SHOWED A COUPLE OF PICTURES THERE.

WILL BE PLANNING AN OPEN HOUSE AND A COUPLE OF MONTHS AND WERE LOOKING TOWARDS THAT.

JUST TO GIVE YOU THE SERVICE WE APPLY.

€" €".

WE HAVE DENTISTS ON SITE.

SO STUDENTS GET THAT HANDS ON.

THE IMPACT IN COMMUNITIES.

>> WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE QUICK WORKS ANYONE.

>> THAT'S A LOT.

THAT'S A BIG DEAL.

[INAUDIBLE] >> YOU COULD GET REGULAR CLEANING THIS UP BECAUSE THERE IS A DENTIST.

OUR DENTAL HYGIENE PROGRAM REQUIRES A DENNIS B WAS STUDENTS AT ALL TIMES IN CLINICALS.

WE DO REGULAR DENTAL WORK THERE.

THEY DO FEELINGS AND EXPRESS.

IT'S PRETTY EXTENSIVE.

>> DOOR STUDENTS HAVE PRIORITY GETTING THE WORK DONE? DO OUR STUDENTS TO KNOW?

>> WE ADVERTISE IT.

YOU WILL OCCASIONALLY WILL DO FREE SCREENINGS.

AND WE WILL SEND OUT ANNOUNCEMENTS TO STUDENTS ACROSS THE CAMPUS SO THEY CAN COME IN AND USE THE SERVICES.

>> THIS POINT PROBLEM SOUND WEIRD BUT, THAT WHEN WE IT WOULD BE MARKETING FOR NEW STUDENTS.

IF YOU GO TO HIGH SCHOOLS IF YOU WANT DENTAL HYGIENE AND CLEANING YOU CAN GO TO THE CLINIC FOR FREE.

WE WILL GIVE A PERSONAL TOUCH FOR THE STUDENTS AT THE COLLEGE.

[INAUDIBLE] >> I THINK THAT'S THE KIND OF STUFF THAT WE NEED TO REACH OUT AND GO TO THE POTENTIAL STUDENTS FOR ANYONE ON CAMPUS.

>> WE ARE PLANNING A MARKETING APPROACH.[INAUDIBLE] >>I HAVE A FEW MORE SLIDES I WANT TO SHARE WITH YOU TODAY.

[00:30:04]

THAT REALLY SPEAKS TO, WE'VE GOT THESE AMAZING PROGRAMS. THERE IS LIKE 20+ PROGRAMS. ROB WAS LOOKING FOR HOW I WOULD NOT MEETING THE NEED OUT THERE AND WHAT CAN WE DO DIFFERENTLY TO REALLY MEET THAT NEED? SO THE SCHOOL OF SCIENCES HAS REALLY PARTNERED CLOSELY WITH OUR NEW ACADEMIC INCUBATOR OVER THE LAST YEAR.

AND IN WHAT THE INDUSTRY NEEDS.

FOR EXAMPLE SOMEONE I SHARE WITH YOU TODAY.

THIS FIRST ONE IS ABOUT MEDICAL ASSISTING.

WHICH IS AN ENTRY LEVEL ROI.

YOU WON'T NOTICE ON THE LEFT-HAND SIDE.

THAT'S WORKMEN AND HIS TEAM DID TO DO A DEEP DIVE ON TYPES OF POSITIONS.

TRUSTEE BOYD THIS SPEAKS TO HOW SOME OF THE ROLES, THEY DO NAME CHANGES AROUND CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT.

YOU SEE THE NEED IS VERY GREAT NDF W.

WERE TALKING 6 AND 7000 POSITIONS THAT ARE AVAILABLE.

ON THE RIGHT-HAND SIDE WITHIN A DEEP DIVE ON WHAT ARE OUR COMPETITORS DOING PRE-SUPPORT NET MOST OF OUR COMPETITORS HAVE TERRITORY GOALS.

WE KNOW THE CAUSE THESE STUDENTS ARE INCURRING AND FILLING AND ENTRY-LEVEL ROLE.

THE SAME SENSE OR NOT PULLING OUR WEIGHT AND SPACE EITHER.

LAST YEAR WE HAD 36 STUDENTS.

I WANT TO SHARE THIS AS AN EXAMPLE IN WAYS WERE LOOKING IN-DEPTH WHY WERE NOT MEETING THAT NEED.

ONE OF THE THINGS WERE DOING RIGHT NOW I WANT SHARE THIS SPECIFICALLY.

WE BEEN WORKING FOR INCUBATOR TO DO A DEEP DIVE IN ONE, CURRICULUM.

BUT LOOKING AT HOW WE CAN REDUCE TIME FOR THE DEGREE AND BENCHMARKING AGAINST ACCREDITATION.

MEDICAL ASSISTING IS A UNIQUE PROGRAM AND THAT THERE ARE 2 NATIONAL CERTIFICATIONS.

ONE OF THE THINGS WE FOUND AS WE WERE REALLY PUTTING MAY BE TO MANY COURSES OUT IN THAT PROGRAM THAT WE COULD REDUCE AND STILL REMAIN NATURALLY ACCREDITED.

WE'VE ARE IN PROCESS OF REVIEWING THAT AND REDUCING THE NUMBER OF COURSE WORKS.

WITH STILT LEAD TO A NATIONAL CERTIFICATION.

WE'VE SET UP A PRETTY AGGRESSIVE GOAL INCREASING THE NUMBER FROM 36 TO 200 GRADUATES OVER THE NEXT YEAR.

IT'S JUST AN EXAMPLE OF SOME OF THE THINGS WE ARE LOOKING AT TO EXPAND.

>> THAT'S GOOD THAT YOU AL ARE TAKING A LOOK AT THAT.

FOR EXAMPLE ANATOMY, PHYSIOLOGY.

THAT MIGHT BE A BARRIER FOR SOME.

>> IS SPEAKS TO THE CHANGE IN THE STRUCTURE AS WELL.

RAY TALKS ABOUT IT LIKE, IT'S MUCH EASIER TO GET FACULTY AS A SCHOOL TO GET THEM TOGETHER TO REVIEW THIS INFORMATION MORE QUICKLY SO WE COULD GET ACTION ITEMS MOVING.

>> BASICALLY INSTEAD OF REQUIRING ALL THE COURSES FOR THE CERTIFICATE ON THE

LEFT SIDE YOU'LL DETERMINED TO GET SERVICE LINE.[INAUDIBLE] >> 2 MORE EXAMPLES.

TRUSTEE BOYD YOU MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN THIS MORNING.

WE ABOUT A YEAR AGO WE GOT A CALL INTO SOUTHWESTERN.

EXPRESS THE DIRE NEED THEY HAVE RELATIVE TO TELEHEALTH.

TELEMEDICINE.

WE PUT A BRAIN TRUST TOGETHER OF SUMMER FACULTY.

WE WERE ABLE TO TAKE THE PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN WHICH IS A BASIC ENTRY-LEVEL ROLE AND EXPAND THE CURRICULUM IN SOME WAYS TO ALSO GIVE THAT INDIVIDUAL SOME CERTIFICATION AND IT SUPPORT.

WE BEEN ABLE TO EXPAND THE PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN TO ALSO A VIRTUAL CARE PROGRAM.

THE STUDENTS STILL GET THE NATIONAL PATIENT CARE CERTIFICATION, NOW THEY ALSO GET THEIR IT CERTIFICATE.

WE'VE WORKED WITH UT SOUTHWESTERN.

WE RECENTLY PLACED OUR FIRST CLASS WITH UT SOUTHWESTERN.

THAT GIVES YOU ALSO EXAMPLE OF HOW WE ARE ENGAGING THINGS LIKE TRUE PATHWAYS AND SOME OF THESE STACKABLE CREDENTIALS WHERE WERE ALMOST PLUGGING IN PLAIN BASED ON THE INTERSTATE NEEDS.

THEY NEED SOME IT BACKGROUND BUT PATIENT FUNDAMENTALS.

>> THAT ROLE THAT THE PERSON PLAYS TOO IS TO HELP THOSE THAT GO TO THE DOCTOR AND THE PERSON THAT GOES AND DOES YOUR BLOODWORK, OR YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE, YOUR QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS AND ALL OF THAT.

THAT IS AT NURSING ASSISTANT.

THAT IS A NICE JOB.

WHAT THAT DOES FOR THE DOCTOR THAT WILL HAVE TO DO IT.

WITH TELEMEDICINE THERE'S A PREPARATORY TIME AND TELEMEDICINE THAT YOU HAVE

[00:35:06]

TO HAVE SOMEBODY BECAUSE THE DOCTOR IS NOT ALWAYS GOING TO BE READILY THERE WHEN YOU SIGN ON.

>> THAT'S A GREAT PROGRAM I THINK FOR A BETTER PAYING JOB BUT ALSO EXPERIENCE THAT ALLOWS THEM TO ENCOURAGE AND GO ON.

>> ONE FINAL EXAMPLE THEN I WANT TO TURN IT OVER TO VENT TO CLOSE US OUT.

TO TALK ABOUT THIS AMAZING OPPORTUNITY WITH ECONOMIC.

IT'S IN A PHARMACY TECH.

LOOKED AT THE NUMBERS AND DEPTH OF THE DF W JOB OPENINGS.

AND THERE WAS A DECLINING YOU'LL UPTICK WITH REGARDS TO THE LAST FEW YEARS WITH COVEN.

NOTICE DF W WHY WE ARE NOWHERE NEAR FILLING THE NEED FOR A PHARMACY TECH PEOPLE IN THE INDUSTRY.

WRESTLING HAD A CONVERSATION WITH LOCAL PHARMACIES AND THE SITUATION HAS GOTTEN SO BAD THAT THE ACCREDITING BODY THAT ACCREDITS PHARMACY TAX OR WAIVING THE €" AND THEY NEED THEM SO BADLY AND ALLOW THEM TO BE HIGHER WITHIN THE INTERNSHIPS.

WE SEE THIS AS A BIG NEED TO MEET.

ONE OF THE THINGS IN THE LENSES WE BEEN LOOKING THROUGH AS WELL IS WE DON'T HAVE A LONG TIME TO GET STUDENTS IN AND OUT THE DOOR.

WERE LOOKING FOR PROGRAMS THAT ARE HIGH WAGE BUT COULD BE COMPLETED WITHIN A RELATIVELY SHORT TIME.

OUR PHARMACY TECH PROGRAM CAN BE COMPLETED IN ABOUT MONTHS.

WE'VE ALSO USED SOME OF OUR FUNDING THAT'S BEEN AVAILABLE THROUGH CARERS AND OTHERS.

OR HELPING STUDENTS OFFSET SOME OF THE COST RELATIVE TO, FOR PHARMACY TECHS THEY HAD TO GO THROUGH FINGERPRINTING PROCESS.

THEY HAVE A CERTIFICATION EXAM.

WERE NOW USING THE CARES MONEY TO REDUCE SOME BARRIERS.

WE SIGNED CONTRACTS WITH WALGREENS, CVS.[INAUDIBLE] >> IT'S ABOUT $20 YEARS AGO.

WE ARE PHARMACISTS IN 2004 THEY STARTED AT ALMOST HUNDRED 25,000 A YEAR.

>> UNDER THE PHARMACY TECHS ARE SO COMPETITIVE.

>> IT'S GONE WAY UP THERE.

>> WHAT KIND OF PROGRAMS DO THEY HAVE TO HAVE TO BE ABLE TO, DID AFTER BIOLOGY AND CHEMISTRY? AND BEING ABLE TO COUNT QUICK WORKS READ AND COUNT.

>> EXIT IN-DEPTH MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY.

SOME BASIC FUNDAMENTALS THAT PHARMACEUTICALS €¦.

>>.[INAUDIBLE] WE HAVE A PARTNERSHIP WITH TEXAS SOLUTIONS.

IN THE HOUSTON AREA, GOLF COURSE, THEY CAME TO US.

WERE IN PROCESS OF REGROWING THE PROGRAM AND I SHARED WITH YOU SOME OF THE GOALS.

>> THE AVERAGE SALARY JEALOUS $13-$21 AN HOUR.

>> SEE, IT WAS HIGHER THAN THAT.

[INAUDIBLE] >> YOU SAID YOU'RE WORRIED ABOUT THE MENTAL HEALTH WORKFORCE AND THE TYPES OF CERTIFICATIONS AND JOBS THAT ARE OUT THERE.

AND WHAT'S INVOLVED IN THAT AREA.

>> I WILL SHARE A COUPLE OF THE SPECIFICS.

THEN, I KNOW YOU DONE SOME NUMBERS AS WELL.

>> WE HAVE SEVERAL PROGRAMS ON SUBSTANCE ABUSE.

WE ALSO, I MENTIONED THIS PATIENT CARE VIRTUAL CARE PROGRAM.

UT SOUTHWEST TALKED ABOUT DOING A MENTAL HEALTH AS WELL.

WE HAVE NOT DEVELOPED THAT TO THIS POINT.

>> ARE MENTAL HEALTH DISCUSSIONS AND I THANK YOU'VE BEEN IN SOME OF THOSE TRUSTEE RITTER, IT'S FALLEN IN OUR SOCIAL SCIENCE AREAS.

REALLY WORKING THOSE CONVERSATIONS PARTNERSHIP AND HAVE A CONVERSATIONS FOREVER QUITE FIGURED OUT HOW WE CAN ADD IT IN OUR HEALTH SCIENCE CURRICULUM.

THERE ARE SOME CONVERSATIONS BECAUSE OF THE CRISIS AND TIME WE ARE

[00:40:02]

IN.

WE ARE HAVING CONVERSATIONS AND PROVIDING SOCIAL SUPPORT WHETHER IT'S STUDENT PARTNERSHIPS WE HAVE WITH COMMUNITY MEMBERS WHETHER STUDENT SUCCESS PROFESSIONAL.

GIVING US INFORMATION FOR THOSE PARTNERSHIPS THAT WE CURRENTLY HAVE BUT IT'S NOT QUITE EMBEDDED IN OUR CURRICULUM AS OF YET.

>> SO I'M GONNA TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT.[INAUDIBLE] ONE OF THE CHALLENGES THAT ANY ORGANIZATION HAS IS SOLVING THE IMMEDIATE NEEDS AND CHALLENGES AND PROBLEMS.[INAUDIBLE] THAT'S ONE OF THE REASONS THIS GRANT OPPORTUNITY IS SO TIMELY.

I WILL GIVE US AN OPPORTUNITY TO TRAIN A LOT OF FOLKS WHO ARE CURRENTLY WORKING IN THE SERVICE CENTER WHICH WAS DECIMATED BY COVID.

[INAUDIBLE] THE IDEA BEHIND THE OPPORTUNITY IS TO TARGET THOSE UNDERSERVED AREAS AND UNDERSERVED POPULATIONS.

WE KNOW THAT ARE OVERWHELMINGLY EMPLOYED IN THE SERVICE SECTOR.

GIVE THEM ADDITIONAL TRAINING, HELP THEM MOVE INTO CAREERS, JOBS THAT HAVE LITTLE MORE ABILITY THAN INSULATED FROM FUTUR COVID TYPE TASKS FOR THE JOB.

THIS IS A $500 MILLION GRANT OPPORTUNITY ACROSS THE COUNTRY.

THE FOR FOCUSING ON ONE SECTOR WHICH WERE FOCUSING ON BIOTECH AND BUILDING LEVERAGING THE MOMENTUM THAT YOU HEARD ABOUT A FEW MONTHS AGO.[INAUDIBLE] TO FOCUS ON BIOTECH AND FOCUSING ON ONE SECTOR WHICH IS $2 MILLION.

THERE IS MONEY IN THIS DEDICATED TO SUPPORT SERVICES AS WELL WHICH IS REALLY EXCITING.

THE THEORY BEHIND THIS IS TO GET MORE PEOPLE IN WE HAVE TO DO MORE THAN WE'VE EVER DONE.

BARRIERS HAVE ONLY MORE DIFFICULT THAN THEY WERE PRIOR TO THE PANDEMIC AND HASN'T LET UP ANY.

WE ARE WORKING WITH €" BEHIND SCENES.

WHERE ONE OF THE REQUIREMENTS OPPORTUNITY IS IT'S TRULY ORIGINAL EFFORT.

THE LAST FEW MONTHS WE'VE BEEN TALKING WITH FOLKS AT NORMAL WE HAVE WORKING WITH THE DF W COUNCIL.

AN AUDIBLE TRAIN AS MANY PEOPLE AND HELP AS MANY PEOPLE POSSIBLE TO GET INTO A BETTER JOB AND AN OPPORTUNITY THAT'S BETTER.

WE THINK THE SAME TIME WE COULD CREATE A SUSTAINABLE WORKFORCE TRAINING PEAK ECOSYSTEM BY CONNECTING THE DOTS BETWEEN FOLKS THAT WANT TO CONTINUE FROM DALLAS COLLEGE.

THE REASON, IT'S INTERESTING.

E.G. A GRANT IS A NEW THING FOR DALLAS COLLEGE.

[INAUDIBLE] IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO SHOW WHAT DALLAS COLLEGE CONGEAL IN THE REGION.

THE IDEA IS THAT WE WILL BE APPLYING AS THE QUARTERBACK SO TO SPEAK.

BUT WE WILL HAVE FUNDING GO TO OTHER PARTNERS TO MAKE ALL THIS HAPPEN.

AT THE SAME TIME WE'VE HAD CONVERSATIONS ABOUT REVIVING AND ASSOCIATES DEGREE IN BIOTECH.

SO RESUSCITATING THAT.

OF COURSE BEHIND THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE TEAM DOING ALL THE LABOR MARKET DATA TO MAKE SURE WE ARE ON TASK WITH THE TRAINING PROGRAM THAT GETS CREATED.

WE THINK THAT WILL BE CONTINUING EDUCATION AND TRAINING PEOPLE AS FAST AS POSSIBLE.

>> WHAT WILL THE JOB BE?

>> WE THINK RIGHT NOW WERE DOING PRETTY EXPENSIVE SURVEYS THAT, LAB TECHNICIANS IS SOMETHING THAT IS A SWEET SPOT.

[00:45:01]

IT'S IN HIGH DEMAND RIGHT NOW ACROSS THE HEALTHCARE.

IT'S ALSO SOMETHING THAT IS A TYPE OF POSITION THAT CAN TRANSFER INTO A START UP, AND INNOVATIVE STARTUP BIOTECH.

IT KIND OF MEETS BOTH NEEDS.

THAT WILL BE IMPORTANT.

2 OTHER OPPORTUNITIES ARE MERGING OUR, BIO €".

[INAUDIBLE] THEY WILL COME TO US AND US WITH THE 2-YEAR EDUCATION.

>> DOES THE BIO €" HAVE ASSOCIATIONS?

>> YES.

>> THAT WOULD BE A GREAT PARTNER FOR US FOR MANUFACTURING IN THE LAB.

>> YES, ABSOLUTELY.

ONE PARTNER IS CALLED €" TEXAS.

AS PART OF A NATIONWIDE INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION IN DIFFERENT MARKETS IN DIFFERENT CITIES.

JUST WANTED TO GIVE YOU LITTLE BIT OF INSIGHT INTO THIS.

WE TALKED ABOUT CLINICAL TAX.

THEY DEMAND, THE PROJECTED DEMAND IS TO GO.

THESE PROGRAMS. WANT TO TURN YOUR ATTENTION TO THE RIGHT-HAND SIDE THERE.

YOU SEE THESE EMPLOYERS WH POSTED THE MOST JOB OPENINGS OR CLINICAL LAB TAX.

3 IN THE MIDDLE THERE, SOUTHWESTERN MEDICAL CENTERS, APPLE COMMITTED TO HIRING TRAINEES THAT WILL COME OUT OF THE PROGRAM.

ON THE FRONT AND WE HAVE EMPLOYER COMMITMENTS FROM THOSE EMPLOYERS AS WELL AS ADDITIONAL ONES.

[INAUDIBLE] SURVEY RESULTS OR PURPOSELY ANONYMIZED WE PROBABLY WILL GET MORE INFORMATION FROM THE EMPLOYERS.

WE DID NOT SIGN OUR NAMES TO IT.

WE HAVE COMMITMENTS TO THESE EMPLOYERS NOW.

I WANTED YOU TO SEE THE NUMBER OF JOBS THEY ARE PLANNING TO CREATE OVER THE NEXT 3 TO 5 YEARS.

THERE ARE SOME PRETTY BIG NUMBERS IN THIS HEALTHCARE BIOTECH INDUSTRIES.

>> JUST AS OUR FINAL THOUGHT.

YOU KNOW WE'VE BECOME VERY ADAPT AN EFFICIENT IN THE LAST 2 YEARS TO MEET TELESIS IMMEDIATE NEEDS.

THESE 4 EXAMPLES ARE JUST SOME OF THE ONES WE'VE DONE IN A YEAR AND 1/2.

I THINK STEVE MENTIONED THE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR HIGHER GRANT PROGRAMS. WE CONTINUE TO DO THINGS LIKE GROW YOUR OWN PROGRAMS. THESE ARE DIRECT PARTNERSHIP WE HAVE WITH METHOD IS, KIRKLAND.

THEY MORE OR LESS HELP US DELIVER THE INSTRUCTION TO STUDENTS TO GET THE REAL EXPERIENCE AND ON-THE-JOB TRAINING.

I MENTIONED EARLIER ABOUT THE VIRTUAL CARE AND TELEHEALTH WITH UT SOUTHWESTERN.

WITH AT THE STATE LEVEL WE BEEN RECOGNIZED BY OUR WORK.

WE FEEL CONFIDENT IN THIS GRANT OPPORTUNITY AND WE DON'T THINK THERE IS A BETTER INSTITUTION THAN DALLAS COLLEGE.

WE APPRECIATE ALL THE WORK THAT ALL OF US ARE DOING IN THIS REGARD.

AND IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS?

>> IT SEEMS LIKE THERE'S SUCH A NEED.

RETURN ON THIS GREAT STUFF HOW DO WE 17 THIS GREAT STUFF HOW DO WE USE IT? IS IT A MATTER OF MONEY? IT'S PROBABLY ALL THE ABOVE.

SHOULD WE BE PLANNING THAT WE ARE THINKING THAT WAY FOR THIS AREA OF ACTIVITY INSIDE DALLAS COLLEGE?

>> I DO THINK WE TOUCHED EARLIER ABOUT SOME OF THE ACCREDITATION LIMITS.

THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE 21 PROGRAMS WE HAVE LIKE RESPIRATORY THERAPY, SURGICAL TAX.

WE RELATIVELY PUT A SMALL NUMBER OF PEOPLE OUT THERE.

I THINK IF WE LOOKED IN OPPORTUNITY OF WHERE THE MOST GREAT OPPORTUNITY IS WE COULD TAKE A SURGICAL TECH GRADUATE 15 TO 20 STUDENTS TO 40 STUDENTS.

[00:50:02]

AGAIN, THOSE ARE SPECIALIZED AREAS.

THAT WOULD PROBABLY BE CLOSE TO SATURATING THE MARKET.

I THINK WE NEED TO CONTINUE TO EXPAND NURSING AND WITH ART DEVELOPMENT WITH A BACHELORS PROGRAM I THINK IT WILL REALLY TALK ABOUT.

>> GREG IS SITTING ON A LOT OF ISSUES WE ARE WORKING ON.

WORKING WITH OUR MARKETING TEAMS TO TALK ABOUT HOW WE CAN MARKET OUR PROGRAMS. AND GET THEM OUT.

WHETHER IT'S ON OUR WEBSITE AND GETTING MORE INFORMATION ELSE.

ON RADIO SOUNDBITES.

HOW WE PRESENT INFORMATION TO THE STUDENTS ON THE INTERNET.

A LOT OF STUDENTS COME THROUGH.

SO MANY MORE THAT ARE LIKE I DID KNOW WE OFFER THAT.

WANT TO REMOVE THAT I DIDN'T KNOW COMPONENT.

REALLY ACTIVELY ENGAGING THOSE TEAMS WITH A LOT OF MOVING PARTS BUT MOVING STEADILY AHEAD SO WE REACH A LITTLE BIT MORE OF STUDENTS WITH THOSE EFFORTS THAT WE ARE TARGETING AN INTENTIONAL ON HOW WERE MARKETING TO THEM AND WHAT WERE MARKETING OR WILL FULL TO LAUNCH SOME OF THAT IN THE SUMMER WITH REVISING HOW WERE DOING OUR OFFERINGS WITH OUR BACK-TO-BACK OFFERINGS TO MOVE PEOPLE MORE SWIFTLY THROUGH PROGRAMS. PEOPLE TRULY WANT TO GET IN AND OUT.

WORKING IN COMBINATION NOT ONLY WITH OUR MARKETING TEAM, WITH STUDENT SUCCESS.

THEY WILL HELP US ENROLL THE STUDENTS IN THE PROGRAMS. MARKETING WILL HELP US GET THAT QUOTATION OUT.

FOR THE STUDENTS TO COME IN SO WE CAN DELIVER THE INSTRUCTION AND GET THEM INTO THE JOB.

>> THERE IS LIMITED ABILITY WITH K-12.

THERE IS ALSO GREAT OPPORTUNITY THERE AS WELL THROUGH THOSE PARTNERSHIPS.

>> MY COMMENT GOES BACK TO THE DISCUSSIONS IN THE MORNING ABOUT FACILITIES AND TALKING ABOUT €".

MY WHOLE THING IS WHEN WE TALK ABOUT THIS MEDICAL PROGRAM VERY CONCERNED.[INAUDIBLE] YOU TALK ABOUT WANTING TO DOUBLE THE PROGRAMS WE'VE GOT IT TALK ABOUT DOUBLING THE BUILDINGS BEFORE WE DOUBLE THE PROGRAMS. THAT'S THE THING HOPEFULLY OUR GROUP IS COMING IN THE NEXT 30 DAYS WILL HELP US SEE THAT.

THEY CAN ENVISION WHAT THESE PROGRAMS COULD BE NOT WHAT THEY ARE.

THE FACILITIES NEED TO BE HAVE TO BE WHAT THEY HAVE TO BE AND NOT WHAT THEY ARE.

>> THAT'S SPOT ON.

>> THOSE WHO ARE CRATING THIS OPPORTUNITY IS HOW WERE GOING TO DELIVER IT.

AS TO MARKETING, YOU KNOW, ONE OF THE THINGS I THINK ALWAYS WORKS OF WHAT MOST COMPANIES USE.

WHY DON'T WE PAY HER STUDENTS? WHO BETTER TO GO TELL SOMEBODY TO COME DO SOMETHING.

OUR MISERY LOVES COMPANY.

NO, WE HAVE TO PAY FOR THE BUSES AND TV ALL THAT.

WHY DON'T WE GIVE IT TO TH STUDENTS AND SAY, YOU BRING SOMEBODY IN AND GET THEM TO REGISTER AND IF THEY MAKE IT THROUGH THE FIRST MATTER SEMESTER WILL GIVE YOU $500 WITH $300 OR WHATEVER IT IS.

WHY DON'T WE DO THAT?

>> ARE THE SECOND PERSON CLASSES OR ONLINE?

>> SOME PROGRAMS ARE MORE EASIER TO DELIVER ONLINE.

DURING COVID WE HAD TO DELIVER EVERYTHING ONLINE.

SO THEY GO TO TEXAS FOR TH CLINICALS.

ASK I AGREE WITH WHAT HE JUST SAID.

I THINK THE BIGGEST DISEASE WE ARE FIGHTING IS THE I DON'T KNOW WE DID THAT.

IF I DID KNOW YOU DID THAT I WOULD'VE GONE AND DONE IT.

>> YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN DOING A LOT OF BENCHMARKING WITH A LOT OF REGIONS OF THE COUNTRY? WHERE ARE OUR GAPS?

>> I THINK FOR ORIGINAL TRIP WE TOOK WE WENT OUT TO NORTH CAROLINA.

IT'S REALLY ENGAGING YOUR CORPORATE PARTNERS.

THERE PROGRAMS THAT WERE FLOURISHING THE AT AGES OLD RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE CORPORATIONS THAT WERE RIGHT THERE.

HAVING THAT INTIMATE COLLABORATION FROM THE START FASTERS KRONE GROWN AND HAS BECOME MORE ROBUST.

MY COMMENT TO BEN WAS THEY HAD THOSE EMPLOYEES FROM THE COMPANIES IN THE CLASSROOMS TEACHING THE CLASSES DIRECTLY OR BERKELEY DIRECTLY WITH FACULTY ON CLEATED ROOM PROTOCOLS.

AND DIFFERENT TECHNOLOGIES THERE.

AND IT WAS SO IMPRESSIVE TO SEE THE COMPANY EMPLOYEE RIGHT THERE WITH THE

[00:55:01]

FACULTY OR EITHER STANDING ALONE TO DELIVER THAT INSTRUCTION.

YOU KNOW THAT PARTNERSHIP AND COLLABORATION IS REALLY INSANE.

THAT THEY ARE JUST WORKING TO GET IT SEAMLESSLY WITHOUT ISSUE.

THAT'S HOW THEY'RE ABLE TO BEAT SO FORWARD THINKING.

A LOT OF WHAT GRANT SAID AS A RESULT OF BECOMING ONE WERE ABLE TO PULL PEOPLE TOGETHER AND SAY LET'S LOOK AT THIS.

WOMAN'S LAST TIME DID YOU LOOK AT THE NATIONAL CURRICULUM.

WE DON'T NEED TO DO THAT THIS MUCH.

WE NEED TO DO THE SAME THING WITH OUR CORPORATE PARTNERS.

MEET WITH THEM REGULARLY TO SEE WHAT THEIR NEEDS ARE.

TO MAKE SURE OUR PROGRAMS ARE STILL ALIGNED WITH THOSE DATES.

I THINK WERE PROPERLY POSITIONED EMPLOYEES AND MOVING IN THAT DIRECTION.

I THINK WE WILL HAVE FAST TAKE OFF AS LONG AS WE CONTINUE TO DEVELOP THOSE ROBUST RELATIONSHIPS.

>> COMPANY HEALTH SYSTEM EMPLOYERS TO BE HAVE THE VTEC PROGRAM?

>> DO WE HAVE ANY P TAX ON THE PCT PROGRAM? THEY ARE JUST COMPREHENSIVE ARE THEY? THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION, WE HAVE 1500 STUDENTS IN COMPREHENSIVE.

THERE'S NO STAND ALONE PTECH WE HAVE RIGHT NOW.

>> IS OUT OF VEHICLE FOR STRENGTHENING THE EMPLOYER RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE COLLEGE?

>> BUT, WAIT, I'M AWARE AN I KNOW WE'VE GOT LIKE CHILDREN TO PARTNER WITH OUR PTECH PROGRAM.

SO €¦.

>>.[INAUDIBLE] THERE IS A COMPANY IN DALLAS THE COMMERCIAL IP FROM UT SOUTHWESTERN.

THEIR OFFICES ARE HERE.

THE BIO MANUFACTURING THEY DO IS IN NORTH CAROLINA.

SO FROM THE PERSPECTIVE IT'S EASIER TO SEE IN NORTH CAROLINA THE

FOCUS.[INAUDIBLE] >> I'M GLAD YOU'RE ON THE CASE MOUNT.

>> IN OUR OWN BEST INTEREST I KNOW SOME OF YOU ASKED THE QUESTIONS.

THEY'RE THE ONLY COMPANY ALLOWED TO DO OUR WORK IN THIS SORT OF THING FOR OUR EMPLOYEES AND OTHERS THAT ARE HERE.

WE NEED THEM TO PERFORM WELL.

>> ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? THANK YOU.

THIS IS OUTSTANDING.

IMPORTANT WORK TO BE DONE.

I APPRECIATE ALL OF YOU.

THANK YOU.

[INAUDIBLE] WELL, HAVING THE 2 OF US REMINDS US WHERE SCHOOL TRUSTEES,

[4.2. Richland Collegiate & Richardson ISD - Proposed Partnership Update]

AREN'T WE.

WE HAVE AN UPDATE ON THE RICHARDSON ISD.

>> THIS WILL BE A BRIEF UPDATE.

WE CAME TO YOU BACK IN SEPTEMBER WITH RICHLAND COLLEGIATE AND RICHARD ISD.

WERE MOVING FORWARD WITH THE PARTNERSHIP.

AND WITHOUT FURTHER ADO GREG MORRIS THREES CAN UPDATE US.

>> QUICKLY, THE 1882 PARTNERSHIP WAS DESIGNED TO INCREASE THE OPPORTUNITY FOR CITIZENS TO BE ENROLLED IN BOTH A CHARTER SCHOOL AND 8 DOLLARS COLLEGE SCHOOL.

WE HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR MORE STUDENTS.

WHICH ISD IS OVER 10,500 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS A GROWING.

[01:00:04]

THEY APPROACHED US ABOUT ENGAGING IN A PARTNERSHIP WHICH IS VERY UNIQUE TO THIS AREA.

THROUGH THIS PARTNERSHIP WE CAN EXPAND ON THAT GREAT STRENGTH THAT RICHLAND HIGH SCHOOL.[INAUDIBLE] WE CAN GATHER THE BEST IN PRACTICE FOR BOTH INSTITUTIONS.

WITH THAT PLAN THE DISTRICT WHICH IS WITHIN ISD AUTHORIZED SEPTEMBER THE FORMATION OF THIS PARTNERSHIP WHICH WAS PRESENTED TO YOU.

THEN THEY PUT OUT CALLS FOR QUALITY SCHOOLS.

IT'S PART OF THE REQUIREMENT FOR THAT TEXAS AGENCY.

IN THIS CALL THEY ASKED US TO DESCRIBE EXACTLY HOW THE HIGH SCHOOL OPERATES AND HOW IT'S STRUCTURED AND ANY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR MOVING FORWARD.

THAT WAS SUBMITTED IN OCTOBER AND NOVEMBER.

RIGHT BEFORE THE HOLIDAY BREAK WE RECEIVED NOTIFICATIONS FROM €" WHO WE WERE GOOD TO GO FORWARD WITH OUR PARTNERSHIP NEGOTIATIONS.

THOSE STARTED RIGHT AFTER WE RESUMED IN JANUARY.

THEY ARE AN ONGOING AT THIS POINT.

BY MARCH 1 WILL BE PRESENTED WITH A PERFORMANCE CONTRACT FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION THE SAME CONTRACT GOING TOWARDS THE RICHARDSON ISD BOARD FOR CONSIDERATIONS.

AFTER THAT TRANSITION PLANNING TAKES PLACE IN ALL ASPECTS OF THAT PLANNING WILL BE CONSIDERED.

SO, WE WANTED TO GIVE AN UPDATE AS TO WHERE WE ARE.

[INAUDIBLE]

>> IF YOU COULD REMIND ME PLEASE, IT'S BEEN A FEW MONTHS SINCE THE PRESENTATION.

BASICALLY THE RICHARDSON ISD WILL BECOME €¦.

>> IT'S NOT DESIGNATED BUT VERY MUCH THE SAME.

THEY ALWAYS HAVE TAKEN PRIMARILY COLLEGE COURSES FOR DUAL CREDIT.

THEY CAN START THE 11TH GRADE.

THIS WILL OPEN UP FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO APPLY FOR A GREATER EXTENT.

THEY HAVE BEEN ONE OF THE PRIMARY TARGET AUDIENCES OF CHARTER SCHOOLS.

THIS WOULD BECOME A NEW CHARTER SCHOOL.

>> WELCOME A NEW CHARTER SCHOOL FOR?

>> RICHARDSON, ISD.

>> NOTHING CHANGES WITH RICHARDSONS?

>> WILL THE NEW CHARTER WILL BE UNDER RICHARDSON ISD THROUGH COLLEGE COLLEGE.

>> SO DOES THE RICHLAND CHARTER CHANGE OR GO AWAY?

>> IT GOES AWAY.

>> IT WILL GO AWAY.

THEY CAN'T DO THIS MORNING WITH THE WAY THIS WAS PUT TOGETHER.

IT WAS REALLY INTENDED AS A FINANCIAL INCENTIVE FOR SCHOOL DISTRICTS TO DO CHARTERS IN CONJUNCTION WITH OTHER ENTITIES.

I COULD HAVE BEEN UMT FOR US OR OTHER INSTITUTIONS THAT ARE OUT THERE.

THERE IS A SIZABLE DOLLAR.

SO THAT COMES WITH THIS.

SO WERE TO GET A LOT MORE RESOURCES FOR DOING THE SAME WORK WE HAVE IN THE PAST.

IT DOES CHANGE THE COURSE STRUCTURE AND.

>> TO RICHARDSON MEADOWS.

>> IS ACTUALLY A NEW BOARD THAT WILL BE CREATED THAT WILL BE JOINED BETWEEN US AND RICHARDSON ISD.

IT WILL OPERATE UNDER OUR BOARD OF TRUSTEES ANYMORE OR THEIR BOARD OF TRUSTEES IT WILL BE A BRAND-NEW BOARD CREATED.

>> HOW ARE THEY SELECTED?

>> THE CHANCELLOR WOULD RECOMMEND AND THEIR SUPER INTENT IT WOULD RECOMMEND.

[INAUDIBLE] >> THEY WILL BE LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS.

[01:05:03]

[LAUGHTER] >> WHICHEVER TRUSTEE FOR RICHARDSON IN THEIR DISTRICT THAT WOULD BE NORMAL.

HOW MANY TRUSTEES FROM EACH INSTITUTION TO COMPRISE THE BOARD?

>> THE CURRENT BOARD MEMBERS OF EACH ARE NOT ELIGIBLES TO BECOME MEMBERS OF THIS BOARD.

>> OH, SO THEY ARE APPOINTED.

SO THEN RICHLAND, COVINGTON HIGH SCHOOL HAD AN ATTENDANCE, THEY CAN ACCEPT 900 STUDENTS.

>> THAT IS THE MAXIMUM THEY COULD.

RIGHT NOW THERE ARE 387.

>> I KNOW THEY NEVER REACH THE MAXIMUM.

UNDER THE NEW ONE, RICHARDSON ISD, DOES THE NUMBER STAY THE SAME?

>> CORRECT.

AND NINTH AND 10TH GRADERS CAN BE ADDED AT A LATER DATE.

[INAUDIBLE] >> HOW MANY STUDENTS DOES RICHARDSON ENVISION THEY ARE ENROLLING?

>> 400 OF FALL OF 2022.

>> THEY WERE PLANNING ON GETTING UP TO 900?

>> YES, OVER TIME.

>> THAT IS GREAT.

>> TABLA SIDE IT SAYS THE DISTRICT AUTHORIZES A CAREFULLY SELECTED PARTNER TO OPERATE A SCHOOL UNDER A PERFORMANCE CONTRACT.

WHAT WOULD BE DONNA'S COLLEGES OPERATIONAL ROLE?

>>.[INAUDIBLE] THEY WILL CONTRACT WITH RICHARDSON ISD FOR SERVICES, STAFFING, ANY FACILITIES.

THIS IS ALL IN THE PERFORMANCE CONTRACT WHICH YOU WILL BE SEEING IN MARCH.

>> THE IDEA IS TO CREATE A CHARTER SCHOOL BENEFIT FOR STUDENTS BUT, ALLOW, UNDER THE OLD CHARTER METHOD THERE WAS NO REASON FOR THE SCHOOL DISTRICT TO COOPERATE A PARTNER.

THE GOAL WAS TO CREDIT NEW CHARTER SCHOOL STRUCTURE THAT STILL PROVIDED ALL BENEFITS, BUT PROVIDED INCENTIVES FOR SCHOOL DISTRICTS TO BE A PART.

AND SUPPORT THE EFFORTS.

EVEN WHEN I ARRIVED 8 YEARS AGO IT WAS STILL A LITTLE BIT ADVERSARIAL BECAUSE €".

THE IDEA OF US SITTING DOWN COLLABORATING AND PARTNERING WORKING IT OUT I THINK IS A DRAMATIC STEP FORWARD.

>> AFTER BOTH BOARDS APPROVE THE PERFORMANCE CONTRACT THEN IN MARCH 31 THERE WILL BE THE ADDITIONAL FINANCIAL BENEFITS.

>> HAVE OTHER DISTRICTS, PROCESS THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS AND HOW ARE WE RESPONDING?

>> NOT AT THIS POINT.

>> WELL, ACTUALLY, YES THEY HAVE BUT THEY HAVEN'T GOT THIS FAR.

I'LL BE HONEST.

THE INCENTIVES, THE FACT THAT A SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES HAS TO GIVE UP THE BOARD OVERSIGHT IS OTHER DISTRICTS HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET BEYOND.

THE BOARD SAYS WERE NOT READY TO GIVE UP HER OVERSIGHT.

>> THAT WAS A DISCUSSION A FEW WEEKS AGO.

OUR OWN CAME INTO PLAY.

IT DID NOT LEAD TO ANY PARTNERSHIPS.

>> ANY OTHER QUESTIONS TRUSTEES?

>> WE WILL SEE YOU BACK MONTH ON THIS?

>> YES.

>> THANK YOU.

BOARD MEMBERS AND COMMITTEE NOTES FOR NOVEMBER PACKET.

[5.1. Committee Notes a. Education Workforce Committee Notes for November 9, 2021]

ANY CHANGES TO THE PROPOSED? SEEING NONE.

WE ARE ADJOURNED.

THANK YOU.
