WHEN I FIRST CAME ON BOARD I HAD A FEW WEEKS ON THE GROUND, I HAD THE PLEASURE TO TALK WITH A FEW OF YOU.

I HAVE SEEN FROM AFAR HOW DALLAS COLLEGE HAS GONE THROUGH THIS TRANSFORMATION.

IT DEMONSTRATES A VISION.

ALSO, SOME TECHNICAL AND I WAS JUST INTRIGUED.

IN NORTH CAROLINA, THE CIO THERE, I WAS IN THERE TO HELP TRANSFORM.

MANY OF YOU ARE AWARE THERE ARE 58 COLLEGES AND A SYSTEM OFFICE THERE.

WE HAVE 59 INSTANCES OF THE ERP SYSTEM AT THE COLLEGE.

THEY ARE ALL ABOUT THE SAME AGE.

IT WAS INTRIGUING TO ME TO SEE THEM SPEAK ABOUT THE TECHNOLOGY AND ENGAGEMENT WITH THE STUDENTS.

I LEARNED TO LOVE THE MISSION.

I AM NOT NEW TO HIGHER EDUCATION.

MY EXPERIENCE WAS BRAND-NEW.

I CHASED THIS JOB.

I WANTED TO GET CLOSER TO THE STUDENTS FROM THE SYSTEM TO THE COLLEGE.

I SINCERELY BELIEVE IT IS A MISSION.

IT IS QUITE AN AMAZING INSTITUTION.

I AM VERY EXCITED TO BE A PART OF THIS VISIONARY AND VERY PROGRESSIVE GROUP.

LET'S GET ON TO THE ERP WORK DATE UPDATE.

WHEN I TALK ABOUT ENTERPRISE RESOURCE PLANNING SYSTEMS, IF WE CAN GO TO THE NEXT SLIDE.

ERP SYSTEMS. IT IS NOT JUST THE ACTUAL WORK.

WE ARE TALKING ABOUT THE ENTERPRISE.

WE ARE TALKING ABOUT ALL OF THE SYSTEM CAPABILITIES THAT CROSS THE HORIZON.

I HAVE SPENT MANY TIMES MEETING WITH THE CTO OF WORKDAY.

IT WAS DESIGNED TO CREATE THAT COMMUNITY.

TO CREATE THAT COMMUNITY BETWEEN THE EMPLOYEE, THE STUDENT, THE FACULTY, AND THE STAFF.

ALL OF THE WORK INSTITUTIONS THAT EMPLOY THEM.

IT IS DESIGNED WITHOUT.

IF WE LOOK AT THE TECHNOLOGIES ACROSS THE BOTTOM OF THE SLIDE THEY ARE DESIGNED TO ENABLE US.

ENABLE US TO GET OUR STUDENT LEARNERS INTO THIS NETWORK.

IT IS FASCINATING THE NUMBER OF PLACES THEY COME AT RISK OF GOING OFF PATH.

THEN, GETTING THEM OUT TO THE EMPLOYERS.

THAT IS A REALLY IMPORTANT KEYNOTE.

FIRST OF ALL AND FOREMOST, WHY ARE WE DOING THIS? ULTIMATELY, TO GET OUR STUDENTS THROUGH HERE.

IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS I HAVE BEEN SPEAKING TO MANY OF OUR FUTURE AND CURRENT INDUSTRY PARTNERS.

I HAVE HEARD MULTIPLE TIMES THEM SAY TO US, I DID NOT REALIZE YOU ARE THAT BIG.

I SAID, HALF $1 BILLION, WE ARE BIG.

IT IS REALLY AN INTERESTING ASPECT.

WE NEED THE TECHNOLOGIES THAT ALLOW US TO OPERATE AT SCALE.

WE NEED TO DO THAT.

WE NEED TO INVEST IN TECHNOLOGIES THAT OPERATE TO ALLOW US TO OPERATE AS WE ARE TODAY AND AS WE GO INTO THE FUTURE.

WHAT I HAVE MENTIONED SEVERAL TIMES, THE SYSTEMS THAT WE HAVE ARE NOT DESIGNED TO SUPPORT US IN THE ROLES THAT WE PLAY IN THE COMMUNITY.

THEY ARE NOT DESIGNED FOR EXAMPLE, WANT TO DO LAW ENFORCEMENT DEVELOPMENT.

WE CAN SPEND A LOT OF TIME, ENERGY AND EFFORT WORKING AT A VERY OLD TECHNOLOGY.

TRYING TO MAKE IT DO SOMETHING THAT IT WAS NEVER DESIGNED TO DO.

OR WE CAN INVEST IN THE FUTURE AND GO FORWARD.

>> THE TECHNOLOGY RIGHT INTO THE INITIAL CORE DEVELOPMENT.

IT IS SEVERAL DECADES OLD, OUR CURRENT ERP SYSTEM.

IT IS BUILT ON A TECHNOLOGY PLATFORM.

WHEN IT WAS BUILT FOCUSED ON TWO THINGS, SO THAT EACH FUNCTIONARY CAN OPERATE INDEPENDENTLY.

THE FINANCIAL SYSTEM CAN OPERATE INDEPENDENT LIEN AND THE STUDENT SYSTEM CAN OPERATE INDEPENDENTLY.

IT WAS MORE TARGETED TOWARD A FOUR-YEAR INSTITUTION.

WE OPERATE BOTH TWO-YEAR AND FOUR-YEAR.

WE ALSO DO WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT.

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT TYPE FUNCTIONS.

THIS WAS NOT DESIGNED TO DO THOSE THINGS.

THE TECHNOLOGY THAT WAS USED IS NO LONGER REALLY TRUTHFULLY SUPPORTIVE.

SO, THEY HAVE NOT NECESSARILY INVESTED IN THE CORE CAPABILITIES OF THAT TECHNOLOGY.

NOT FOR MANY, MANY YEARS.

WORKDAY ON THE OTHER HAND IS A DIFFERENT PLATFORM.

EVEN THOUGH IT MAY BE A FEW DECADES OLD, IT IS UPDATED AND MODERNIZED.

WE WILL GET UPDATES AT LEAST TWICE A YEAR.

IT PERFORMS THE FOLLOWING CORE FUNCTIONS, THE VISITS AND FINANCE FUNCTION, HR HUMAN CAPITAL MANAGEMENT FUNCTION, AND EVENTUALLY WE WILL IMPLEMENT THE STUDENT FUNCTION FOR OUR STUDENTS.

BY EMPOWERING THE BUSINESS, SOME OF THE FUNCTIONALITY THAT IS TRADITIONALLY PERFORMED BY THE IT STAFF IS NOW PERFORMED WITHIN THE BUSINESS AND THE BUSINESS WILL CONTROL THAT.

SO, THEY CAN DRIVE THOSE CHANGES AND ADAPTATIONS THEY NEED TO OPERATE.

THEY CAN OPERATE ON A DAILY BASIS MORE EASILY THAN THEY CAN NOW.

WHEN COLLEAGUE WAS REALLY CREATED AND IMPLEMENTED, STILL THIS WAY TODAY, IT ASSUMED WE WOULD HAVE PROFESSIONALS ENGAGING IN ALL OF THE OPERATIONS.

IT WAS BEFORE WE HAD SMART PHONES AND USERS TAKING ADVANTAGES OF THE TOOLS THAT ARE THERE.

IT REALLY NEVER ANTICIPATED THE TYPE OF INTEGRATION OF DATA.

FOR EXAMPLE, IF WE WANTED TO SEE HOW MANY OF OUR EMPLOYEES WERE ALSO ENROLLED IN CLASSES, THOSE SYSTEMS DO NOT TALK TO EACH OTHER.

WITH WORKDAY, IT IS A WHOLE OTHER SYSTEM.

THOSE IN HR AND BUSINESS AND THE STUDENT DATABASES ARE ALL INTEGRATED.

THEY ARE INTEGRATED IN SUCH A WAY THAT IT IS A WORKABLE SYSTEM.

THINK ABOUT, WHAT WE MOVED TO IS MORE USER CONTROL.

WHICH MEANS A GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE HAS TO BE -- AS WE DEAL WITH THAT IT HAS TO BE A LOT MORE ROBUST FROM SECURITY.

TO ENSURE, JUST LIKE YOUR BANKING THAT YOU ARE ABLE TO DO THE TRANSACTIONS YOU WANT WITHOUT COMPROMISING WHAT IS TAKING PLACE.

THIS IS BASICALLY SUPPOSED TO BE PUBLIC INFORMATION.

I AM WONDERING, ONCE YOU CAPTURE THIS DATA AND IT IS AN WORKDAY, THAT IS NOT TO SAY THE PROGRAM WILL DO WHAT YOU WANT IT TO DO.

OR WHATEVER.

HOW MUCH OF THAT INFORMATION, AND I DO NOT KNOW TO WHAT EXTENT AND HOW DEEPLY PEOPLE'S PERSONAL INFORMATION IS BEING SHARED, DOES IT BECOME PUBLIC
