>> WE HAVE CHANGED THINGS UP A BIT FOR TODAY'S TOWN HALL.
[Employee Town Hall on November 11, 2021]
AFTER HOLDING MANY OF THESE MEETINGS VIRTUALLY, WE ARE FINALLY HAPPY TO SEE YOU GUYS AS THE CHANCELLOR SAID IN 3D.THIS IS GREAT TO SEE YOU GUYS.
AND SOME OF YOUR JOURNALS VIRTUALLY, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR JOINING US IN THIS HYBRID TOWN HALL.
WE HAVE A LIMITED NUMBER OF AUDIENCE MEMBERS HERE AND NO MATTER HOW YOU'RE WATCHING, WE APPRECIATE YOU, THANK YOU SO MUCH.
OVER THE NEXT HOUR OUR CONVERSATION WILL FOCUS ON THE LONG-AWAITED END OF OUR COLLEGE ORGANIZATION, HOW WE ARE MOVING FORWARD AS A UNITED INSTITUTION.
OUR PANELISTS WILL BEGIN BY SHARING SOME LESSONS LEARNED THROUGHOUT OUR TRANSITION AS WELL AS THE TOP CHALLENGES THE RESPECTIVE TEAMS ARE CURRENTLY FACING.
WE WILL ALSO BE RESPONDING TO YOUR PRE-SUBMITTED QUESTIONS AND LIVE QUESTIONS.
IF YOU ARE TUNING IN YOUR OFFICE SPACE PLEASE FEEL FREE, YOU COULD SEND IN THE LIVE QUESTIONS AT TOWN HALL@DCCCD LET'S WELCOME OUR PANELISTS.
NOTE STRANGERS CHANCELLOR JOE MAE, CHANCELLOR ELECT JUSTIN --, DOCTOR BEATRICE JOSEPH, VICE CHANCELLOR STUDENT SUCCESS.
DOCTOR PIPER WILKINS, VICE CHANCELLOR WORKFORCE AND ADVANCEMENT.
DOCTOR SHONA FLOYD PROVOST AND SHERRY -- CHIEF HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER.
PANELISTS, IT IS CONVERSATIONAL, WE WILL THROW QUESTIONS IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS.
FIRST QUESTION TO CHANCELLOR MAY AND CHANCELLOR LEE ELECT.
LIKE TO BEGIN WITH BOTH OF YOU.
IT'S BEEN MORE THAN TWO YEARS SINCE PLANS WERE ANNOUNCED TO MERGE DCCCD INTO UNIFIED.
WE ARE DALLAS COLLEGE, TRANSMISSION THAT DID NOT HAPPEN OVERNIGHT.
AS THE TWO TASKED WITH LEADING OUR COLLEGE THROUGH THE CHANGE, WHAT ARE SOME OF THE LESSONS YOU HAVE LEARNED ALONG THE WAY?
>> THANK YOU FOR MODERATING THIS, AND THANK ALL OF YOU FOR JOINING US AND THOSE THAT ARE PARTICIPATING VIA STREAMING.
I CANNOT SEE YOU BUT CERTAINLY, I APPRECIATE YOU AND ALL OF YOU, THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE OVER THE LAST TWO YEARS.
JUST A BRIEF ON WHY WE MADE THE DECISION TO CONSOLIDATE OUR COLLEGES.
IT WAS NOT ABOUT DOLLARS, IT REALLY WAS NOT ABOUT THAT WE THOUGHT JUST THINGS NEEDED TO CHANGE, IT WAS A REALIZATION THAT OUR EMPLOYERS, COMMUNITIES HAVE REALLY EVOLVED OVER THE LAST 50 YEARS.
[00:05:03]
WHEN WE LOOK BACK TO THE EARLY DAYS, ONLY ABOUT 20 OR 22 PERCENT OF THE POPULATION NEEDED A POSTSECONDARY CREDENTIAL TODAY IT IS OVER 65 PERCENT.AND OUR DESIGN WORKED GREAT WHEN WE REALLY DID NOT NEED TO EDUCATE THE MAJORITY OF THE POPULATION BUT WE DO TODAY AND YET WE WERE STIL OPERATING HONESTLY THE NUMBERS IN THE COMMUNITY OVER 50 YEARS AGO WE WERE SEEING ONLY 27 PERCENT IN A POSTSECONDARY CREDENTIAL AND THE CREDENTIALS HAVE CHANGED AS WELL.
AND THE NEED TO RESPOND IS ALSO RESPOND.
I THINK THE LESSONS LEARNED AS WE LISTEN TO STUDENTS THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS, AND EMPLOYER WE HAD AN EXAMPLE AT THE BOARD MEETING I DON'T THINK WHAT OCCURRED IN HER OLD STRUCTURE WHERE WE WERE ABLE TO PARTNER WITH AN ORGANIZATION ORGANIZATIONS ACTUALLY WITHIN THE COMMUNITY AND WAYS TO SOLVE THE NEEDS OF INDIVIDUALS AND EMPLOYERS AND TO REALLY HELP THE COMMUNITY TO PROSPER.
WE ALSO LEARNED THAT THE FOLKS WERE LEAVING BEHIND WERE THE MOST VULNERABLE WITH IN THE COMMUNITY, THOSE THAT UNDERSTOOD THE LEAST ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY AND HOW TO ACCESS THEM.
ALSO I THINK YOU WOULD AGREE TO THIS, WE HAVE SOME AMAZING PEOPLE IN OUR ORGANIZATION.
THAT EVEN THOUGH OVER THE TWO YEARS, WE DID NOT ALWAYS HAVE A ROADMAP, TO FOLLOW, WE WERE LEARNING MUCH OF THIS AS WE WENT THROUGH THE PROCESS AND READ HEROES STEP UP EVERY SINGLE DAY TO HELP FIGURE OUT.
AND WE STILL DO! BECAUSE SOME OF THE OLD STRUCTURES HAVE CHANGED AND THE GO TO PEOPLE ARE NOT THERE AND WE HAVE TO SORT IT OUT AND FIGURE IT OUT EVEN AS WE ARE PUTTING IN PLACE THE NEW STRUCTURE AND DESIGN SO THANK YOU FOR THAT.
THANK YOU FOR THE FEEDBACK, THE WILLINGNESS TO PITCH IN AND HELP AND SOLVE PROBLEMS THAT YOU DID NOT CREATE.
AND YOUR ANXIETY AND STRESS SOMETIMES THAT WE WISH WAS NOT THERE BUT I KNOW YOU DEALT WITH IT AND I'M REALLY APPRECIATIVE OF THE AMAZING WORK THAT WENT ON.
SO AS WE GO FORWARD AND TALK A LITTLE MORE ABOUT THIS LATER TODAY, I PERSONALLY AM EXCITED THAT DOCTOR JUSTIN WILL BE THE NEXT CHANCELLOR AND ANOTHER THAT YOU'VE BEEN OUT ALREADY AND OF LISTING IN THIS PHASE.
>> YES, AGAIN, I APPRECIATE THIS AND IT'S GREAT TO SEE EVERYBODY AND I APPRECIATE FOLKS JOINING US TODAY, IT IS A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT, I GOT USED TO THE MODERATOR PART OF THIS OVER THE LAST YEAR AND 1/2 OR SO.
BUT AS DOCTOR MAY SAID, IT'S BEEN A PROCESS.
AND IT IS A MULTI-PHASED APPROACH TO UNDERTAKE SOMETHING LIKE THIS.
WE HAD SO MANY PEOPLE ALONG THE WAY THAT REGARDLESS OF WHERE THEY WERE, IF THEY WERE SUPPORTIVE OR CONVINCED THIS WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO PEOPLE REALLY STEPPED UP.
YOU THINK ABOUT, THERE ARE PARTS OF THIS WE HAD TO DO THEY HAVE THE PARTS RELATED TO ACCREDITATION AND THAT WAS DEFINED BUT EVEN THAT TO GO THROUGH THE PROCESS FOR THE TEAM TO COME OUT AND EVALUATE YOU KNOW AND THEY DON'T PLAY AROUND, TO EVALUATE AND SAY OKAY, YOU GUYS HAVE DONE THIS IN THE RIGHT WAY, THEY HAD STUDENTS ENGAGED IN THE CONVERSATION WITH THEM IN THEIR SITE VISIT HERE AND WHAT THEY HEARD FROM STUDENTS, THE DIFFERENCE THEY COULD TELL THAT MADE FOR STUDENTS BECAUSE I TALK A LOT ABOUT THAT WE HAVE BEEN IN THIS BUSINESS TO IDENTIFY BARRIERS, THAT GET IN THE WAY OF STUDENT SUCCESS.
WHETHER IT IS -- IN THE END THERE WERE STRUCTURE WAS A BARRIER.
AND SO WE KNEW IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT BUT NECESSARY AND ABSOLUTELY, CLEARLY THERE ARE PAIN POINTS AND THE TRANSITION ASPECTS.
YOU KNOW, WE WILL CONTINUE TO EVOLVE MOVING FORWARD BUT I REALLY AM EXCITED AS I LOOK AHEAD, KNOWING THAT WE'VE GOT A GREAT TEAM IN PLACE AND JUST A REAL SPIRIT OF WILLINGNESS AMONGST PEOPLE TO BUILD ON THE FOUNDATION OF DCCCD, THAT THE DALLAS COLLEGE, WE ARE ABOUT 16 MONTHS OLD NOW AS DALLAS COLLEGE.
WE'VE LEARNED SOME THINGS THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO STUDENTS AND CERTAINLY WE GOT SOME INTERNAL THINGS THAT WE WILL CONTINUE TO FOCUS ON AND ADDRESS OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF YEARS.
>> THANK YOU LETTER -- CHANCELLOR MAY AND LONON.
IT IS YOUR TURN OUT VICE CHANCELLOR STUDENT SUCCESS YOUR TEAM AND YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR SUPPORTING THE STUDENTS, THROUGHOUT THE STUDENT LIFECYCLE.
THIS INCLUDES THE AREAS OF ENROLLMENT, ADMISSIONS, ADVISING FINANCIAL AID AND JOB PLACEMENT.
IF YOU COULD SHARE WITH US YOUR TEAMS NEW STRUCTURE, AND ONE CHALLENGE THE NEW APPROACH IS HELPING DALLAS COLLEGE IN BETTER SERVING STUDENTS AND THE COMMUNITY.
LET'S GO TO THE NEXT QUESTION AND WILL TAKE THE TECHNICAL ISSUE WITH HER MIC IF WE CAN GET THAT WORKED ON.
[00:10:04]
OUR NEXT QUESTION, LET'S GO TO DOCTOR FLOYD.AND A QUICK REMINDER, THERE IS TIME TO SUBMIT YOUR QUESTIONS, GO TO TOWN HALL@DCCCD.ORG AND GET YOUR QUESTIONS IN.
DOCTOR FLOYD! TIME FOR DOCTOR FLOYD, AS PROVOST TO OVERSEE OUR SEVEN SCHOOLS, THE EDUCATIONAL PARTNERSHIPS, ACADEMIC SERVICES, E LEARNING YOU AND YOUR TEAM WORK CLOSELY WITH STUDENT SUCCESS AND WORKFORCE AND ADVANCEMENT DIVISIONS TO SUPPORT CURRICULUM INNOVATION.
AS WELL AS THE NEEDS OF STUDENTS AND FACULTY.
PLEASE SHARE WITH US, YOUR TEAMS NEW STRUCTURE AND ONE CHALLENGE THAT THE NEW APPROACH IS HELPING IN DALLAS COLLEGE TO ADDRESS AND BETTER SERVE STUDENTS IN THE COMMUNITY.
>> THANK YOU, RICK, FOR THAT QUESTION.
I THINK EVERYONE KNOWS NOW HOW WE ARE ORGANIZED AND WE ARE ORGANIZED BY SCHOOL.
THANK YOU! HAVE THE ORGANIZATIONAL CHART AND WE HAVE THE SENIOR VICE PROVOST FOR ACADEMIC SERVICES, WHICH OVERSEES ACADEMIC SERVICES.
I'M HAPPY TO LOOK AT IN THE AUDIENCE AND SEE MANY TEAM MEMBERS FROM ACADEMIC SERVICES.
BUT IT BASICALLY HOUSES ALL OF THE ACADEMIC STUDENT SUPPORTS.
IT COVERS EVERYTHING FROM LEARNING, TUTORING AND IMPORT THINGS LIKE COMPLIANCE.
THIS IS WHERE WE DO WITH CREDENTIALING, THIS IS ALSO WHERE WE HOUSE DIFFERENT SPECIAL ACADEMIC PROGRAMS LIKE HONOR SOCIETY.
IT IS A VERY ROBUST AREA, AN AREA THAT REALLY WORKS CROSS COLLABORATIVELY WITH THE ACADEMIC INCUBATOR AS WELL AS WITH STUDENT SUCCESS.
WHETHER IT IS VIA ACADEMIC SCHEDULING, TUTORING OR OTHER ACADEMIC SUPPORTS.
THAT AREA JUST COVERS SEVERAL CRITICAL NEEDS FOR OUR STUDENTS AND WORKS IN COMPANION WITH THE WHOLE COLLEGE IN TERMS OF WORKFORCE AND STUDENT SUCCESS.
OUR SCHOOLS AS YOU KNOW OUR HEALTH SCIENCE, EDUCATION, ENGINEERING, TECHNOLOGY, MATH AND SCIENCE.
SCHOOL OF LAW AND PUBLIC SERVICE.
WE HAVE THE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS, HOSPITALITY AND GLOBAL TRADE.
MANUFACTURING AND INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGIES, AND THOSE COVER THE SPECIFIC CRITERIA FOR BOTH CREDIT PROGRAMS AS WELL AS NON- CREDIT PROGRAMS. THIS IS VERY NEW FOR US, VERY GROUNDBREAKING.
I WAS HAPPY TO BE PARTICIPATING IN A PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT LAST WEEK TO KNOW THAT WE ARE DOING COMMUNITY COLLEGE 3.0 WHERE WE REMOVED SILOS BETWEEN NONCREDIT AND CREDIT.
MORE IMPORTANT, WE REMOVED SILOS BETWEEN STUDENT SUCCESS AND WORKFORCE AND I HAVE TO HONESTLY SAY THAT ISN'T SOMETHING JUST REFLECTED IN OUR STRUCTURE BUT REALLY IN OUR LEADERSHIP AND HOW WELL WE WORK TOGETHER COLLABORATIVELY AS A TEAM.
NOT ONLY WITH THE VICE CHANCELLOR OF WORKFORCE AND VICE CHANCELLOR STUDENT SUCCESS, BUT ALSO WITH OUR PRESIDENTIAL PARTNERS.
I'M HAPPY TO SEE DOCTOR EGGLESTON HERE AND I'M GLAD THAT WE ARE RESPONSIVE TO COMMUNITY NEEDS, DEMANDS FOR STUDENTS FOR NONCREDIT AND CREDIT PROGRAMMING.
ALSO THE DEMANDS THEY HAVE FOR WRAPAROUND SERVICES AND HOW WE CAN COME TOGETHER AS ONE TO SUPPORT THEM IN THOSE EFFORTS.
UNDER MY AREA WE ALSO HAVE E-LEARNING WHICH IS RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR ONLINE LEARNING AREA PROVIDING LOTS OF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR FACULTY.
BUT ALSO PROVIDING THE STRUCTURE, WHAT IT WILL LOOK LIKE VERY EXCITED BECAUSE WE ARE FINALLY COMING IN ALIGNMENT.
AGAIN COMMUNITY COLLEGE 3.0 WITH REALLY ALIGNING OUR TEMPLATES OUR CRITICAL PRESENTATION TO STUDENTS OF WHAT OUR COURSES LOOK LIKE ONLINE.
SO THEY CAN NAVIGATE THEM BETTER.
AS ONE COLLEGE, DALLAS COLLEGE, WERE ABLE TO COME TOGETHER BEHIND WHAT THE STUDENTS NEED AND THAT THEY HAVE CHALLENGES IN THIS PANDEMIC WHERE MANY OFFERINGS HAVE BEEN ONLINE FOR OVER A YEAR NOW AND SO WE REALLY NEED TO BE RESPONSIVE TO THAT AND MAKE SURE WE ARE ALLOWING THEM TO NAVIGATE COURSES IN A MANNER THAT'S EASY FOR THEM SO THEY CAN BE SUCCESSFUL I THEIR ENDEAVORS THERE.
WE ALSO HAVE EDUCATIONAL PARTNERSHIPS UNDER ACADEMIC AFFAIRS, WHICH IS THE HOME OF OVER 32,000 PLUS DUAL CREDIT STUDENTS.
SOME OF WHICH TAKE COURSES ON THE CAMPUSES.
MANY OF WHOM TAKE COURSES AT THEIR HOME CAMPUSES, AND FINALLY, I FEEL LIKE I AM MISSING SOMETHING.
I WOULD BE REMISS IF I DID NOT ANNOUNCE MY NEW POSITION WHICH IS THE ASSOCIATE VICE PROVOST FOR ACADEMIC AFFAIRS.
[00:15:03]
AND I'M HAPPY TO SEE ROSE GALLOWAY IN THE AUDIENCE.ROSE IS REALLY PERSONAL WORKS WITH ALL OF OUR UNITS, ALL OF OUR AREAS.
SHE HELPED TO CREATE -- KEEP THEM TOGETHER AND HAS CHAMPIONED ACHIEVING THE DREAM EFFORTS THIS YEAR.
I'M VERY GRATEFUL FOR THE COLLABORATION AND PARTNERSHIP.
I SHOULD ANNOUNCE THE NEED FOR NURSING NOTE THAT DOCTOR -- JUST MOVED INTO POSITION WE WERE EXCITED IN THREE SHORT DAYS SHE'S ALREADY DONE GREAT WORK IN TERMS OF GETTING THAT PROGRAM STOOD UP.
WE RESPONDED TO A COMMUNITY NEED AND WE'VE FILED IT WORK WITH THE HIGHER EDUCATION BOARD AS OF MONDAY BECAUSE SHE'S FOCUSED ON THE EFFORTS.
WE WERE EXCITED TO SEE OUR BACCALAUREATE PROGRAM AND GROWTH.
>> EXCELLENT, THANK YOU SO MUCH, DOCTOR FLOYD.
I THINK WE HAVE THE MIC SITUATION RESOLVED, DOCTOR JOSEPH.
>> AS VICE CHANCELLOR STUDENT SUCCESS, YOU AND YOUR TEAM ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR SUPPORTING OUR STUDENTS IN THE STUDENT LIFECYCLE.
INCLUDES ADMISSIONS, FINANCIAL AID, JOB PLACEMENT.
SHARE YOUR NEW TEAMS INSTRUCTOR AND ONE CHALLENGE THAT THE NEW APPROACH AND HOW IT'S HELPING DALLAS COLLEGE TO BETTER SERVE STUDENTS IN THE COMMUNITY.
>> SURE, THANK YOU FOR THE QUESTION AND THE OPPORTUNITY TO SEE EVERYBODY.
IT IS EXCITING TO SEE PEOPLE FACE-TO-FACE THAT WE HAVEN'T HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO DO THAT VERY OFTEN.
IN TERMS OF THE TRANSFORMATION, STUDENT SERVICE ASIDE, IT'S REALLY DRIVEN BY WHAT DR. MAY AND DR. LONON HAVE BEEN TALKING ABOUT FOR A LONG TIME.
COMMITMENT TO REMOVING BARRIERS, FOR STUDENTS TO ACHIEVE COMPLETION, TRANSFER EMPLOYMENT.
HOW DO WE GO ABOUT DOING THAT? IN A POWERPOINT YOU CAN SEE THERE ARE FOUR MAIN AREAS.
FIRST IS ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT.
WHAT IS ENROLLMENT AND MANAGEMENT? THAT'S FOR EQUIPMENT OUTREACH RETENTION FINANCIAL AID ADMISSIONS AND REGISTRAR.
YOU SAY HOW IS THAT ANY DIFFERENT THAN WHAT IT WAS BEFORE? LET ME TELL YOU ONE DIFFERENCE.
WE HAVE A POSITION CALLED THE COLLEGE COACH.
THE COLLEGE COACHES REACH OUT TO THE EIGHTH-GRADERS.
WE ARE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ISDS, WE CREATE A COLLEGE GROWING CULTURE FROM EARLY ON WE ARE TRYING TO SUPPORT THOSE INDIVIDUALS WHO REALLY DID NOT SEE OR CONSIDER THEMSELVES AS COLLEGE MATERIAL.
WE ALSO SUPPORT INTENTIONALLY OUR ADULT STUDENTS WHO ARE COMING BACK TO US BUT THEY DON'T KNOW THE WAY.
THEY GET LOST IN OUR PROCESSES BECAUSE THEY ARE COMPLEX.
AND WE ARE STILL WORKING ON MAKING THEM SIMPLER.
I HAVE MYSELF GOT TO OUR ADMISSIONS PROCESS AND I DON'T THINK I WOULD HAVE MADE IT TO DALLAS COLLEGE SO WE ARE CONTINUOUSLY WORKING AND SIMPLY FINDING THE SPLIT-SECOND AREA STUDENT SUCCESS.
THE AREA HAS OUR SUCCESS COACHING, OUR PATHWAY SPECIALISTS, CAREER AND TRANSFER SPECIALISTS AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT UNIT FOR STUDENT SUCCESS.
MS. BETSY RIVAS WHO IS IN THE AUDIENCE TODAY IS THE ONE WHO LEADS THOSE EFFORTS FOR STUDENT SUCCESS.
HOW IS THAT DIFFERENT FROM WHAT WE'VE DONE BEFORE? I WILL JUST TELL YOU ONE TITLE WHICH EVERYONE HAS HEARD OF SUCCESS COACHES.
THOSE INDIVIDUALS ARE A CRITICAL PIECE TO STANDING UP AND SUCCESS OF THE NEW MODEL.
THE INDIVIDUALS, THEY WALK THEM ALL THE WAY.
ONCE THERE READY FROM THE COLLEGE COACHES, THEY ARE HANDED OFF TO OUR SUCCESS COACH.
WHO WILL WALK WITH THEM ALL THE REST OF THE WAY.
WE WILL CONNECT THEM TO RESOURCES WHETHER THEY MIGHT BE, THEY NEED FOOD, COUNSELING, A JOB, THEY NEED HELP WITH RESUME.
THEY NEED TO HAVE BETTER CLARITY ABOUT WHAT PATHWAY THEY NEED TO PURSUE.
BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW ABOUT WHAT JOBS AND WHAT COULD I DO AND I HAVE A FAMILY AND HOW DO I MANAGE ALL OF THIS? THAT'S WHAT THE SUCCESS COACH DOES.
HOLDS A STUDENTS HAND AND IS A PARTNER ALONG THE WAY.
THEN WE TALK ABOUT THE STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES, SUPPORT AND WELLNESS.
DOCTOR TRACY JOHNSON, THE AREA HAS BASIC NEEDS PEOPLE.
OUR INDIVIDUALS AND HELPING STUDENTS WITH MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING, WITH HEALTH AND WELLNESS, WITH FOOD AND HOUSING AND CHILD CARE.
WHICH WE ALL KNOW OUR BARRIERS FOR OUR STUDENTS AND THEY KEEP TELLING US,
[00:20:01]
THESE ARE BARRIERS FOR OUR STUDENTS.THAT BASIC NEEDS AREA IS HOUSING STUDENT SUPPORT THAT WE HAVE STUDENT ENGAGEMENT FOLKS THAT INCLUDE STUDENT LIFE PEOPLE, MULTICULTURAL AFFAIRS, AND ALSO STUDENT RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES AREA.
IN THAT STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES AND THEN WE HAVE A REALLY SUPER WELL ORGANIZED LEARNING COMMUNITIES AREA.
IT ADDRESSES THE NEEDS OF SPECIAL POPULATIONS, VETERANS.
THEY NEED SPECIAL SUPPORT, THEY NEED MORE SUPPORT THAN AN INDIVIDUAL THAT YOU KNOW, CAME STRAIGHT FROM HIGH SCHOOL TO GO TO COLLEGE.
THESE INDIVIDUALS THAT HAVE SERVED OUR NATION AND DESERVE SOME SUPPORT ALONG THE WAY.
WE HAVE SUPPORT ALSO FOR OUR FOSTER STUDENTS, WE HAVE SUPPORT FOR MEN OF COLOR, A VARIETY OF DIFFERENT OPPORTUNITIES THERE FOR DIFFERENT STUDENT POPULATIONS.
IN INSTITUTIONAL RESEARCH WHICH IS REALLY CALLED STRATEGIC ANALYTICS.
IN THAT AREA HAS TWO MAIN FUNCTIONS.
DATA MANAGEMENT AND REPORTING WHICH IS YOU KNOW YOUR REPORTS IN THOSE KIND OF THINGS THAT WILL HAVE TO DO BUT THEY HAVE A VERY NEW AND EXCITING AREA WHICH IS STUDENT SUCCESS RESEARCH IN THAT AREA IS ALREADY MADE A DIFFERENCE IN WHAT WE DO AND THE THINGS THAT WE CONTINUE TO SUPPORT TO ENGAGE IN SO DOES GOOD WORK AND LETTING US KNOW WHICH EFFORTS HAVE WORKED, WHICH EFFORTS HAVE NOT WORKED, WHICH WAYS WE SHOULD CONTINUE SUPPORT OUR STUDENTS.
THOSE ARE REALLY THE FOUR MAIN AREAS IN STUDENT SUCCESS.
YOU'VE ASKED ABOUT A CHALLENGE, WHAT CHALLENGE WE BELIEVE THIS STRUCTURE WILL HELP US SUPPORT.
YOU KNOW, CE TO CREDIT PATHWAYS IS AN AREA WE HAVE PAID ATTENTION TO WE HAVE A LOT OF STUDENTS THAT START IN THE CE SPACE THAT HAVE A DIFFICULT TIME MOVING INTO THE CREDIT SPACE.
INSTEAD OF CONTINUING TO HEAR FROM ME, WE HAVE IN THE AUDIENCE, MS. BROOKE RYAN, SHE IS ONE OF OUR ASSOCIATE DEANS FOR SUCCESS COACHING.
AND SHE LEADS A TEAM OF SUCCESS COACHES THAT PROVIDE SUPPORT TO THE CE STUDENTS.
>> THANK YOU, THANK YOU ALL FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO REALLY SHARE WITH YOU, THE AMAZING WORK THAT STUDENT SUCCESS HAS ACHIEVED.
I DO WANT TO TALK TO A COUPLE OF THINGS TODAY THAT WILL ALLOW ME TO HIGHLIGHT SOME OF THE WAYS WE BEEN ABLE TO ADDRESS SOME OF THE CONCERNS THAT YOU ALL HAVE SEEN.
OUR STUDENT SUCCESS TEAM HAS HIRED 11 SUCCESS COACHES AND THEY ARE FOCUSED ON SOLELY SUPPORTING STUDENTS ARE PURSUING COURSEWORK FOR CONTINUING EDUCATION.
AND SO THEY ACTUALLY WILL PROVIDE WRAPAROUND SERVICES AND THEY ALSO WORK DIRECTLY WITH COLLABORATE WITH PATHWAY SPECIALS, WORKFORCE AND ACADEMIC PARTNERS, TO REALLY ASSURE WRITING THE WRAPAROUND SERVICES AND WE ARE ALSO BEING ABLE TO GIVE ADEQUATE RESOURCES THAT WILL IMPROVE COMPLETION, PERSISTENCE, EMPLOYMENT, REALLY JUST THE LIKELIHOOD OF OUR STUDENTS RETURNING TO US AND PURSUING FURTHER EDUCATIONAL GOALS WITH US.
CONTINUOUSLY TRAINING, AND DEVELOPING CONTINUING EDUCATION SUCCESS COACHES.
REALLY BECAUSE WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY ARE UP TO DATE WITH THE CURRENT PROGRAM OFFERINGS.
AND AS WELL AS COURSE AND FACULTY INFORMATION.
WE HAVE A TEAM OF SUCCESS COACHES AT ALL LOCATIONS AND THEY WERE THREATENED WITH THOSE WORKFORCE INDUSTRY PARTNERS.
AND WORK DIRECTLY WITH THE STUDENTS JUST TO MAKE SURE WE ARE STAYING UP-TO-DATE WITH EVERYTHING THE COMMUNITY NEEDS, BECAUSE OF OUR PREVIOUS SILOS AND BECAUSE WE WORKED IN SEVEN DIFFERENT LOCATIONS, WE NEVER HAD A ACTUAL -- THANK YOU.
WE NEVER HAD A PROCESS THAT WOULD ALLOW US TO HAVE A STREAMLINED PROCESS TO CONVERT CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS TO CREDIT.
A LOT OF OUR STUDENTS MAY BE FORCED TO RETAIN -- RETAKE COURSES THEY DIDN'T NEED OR ALREADY COMPLETED THE EQUIVALENT.
NOW I'M PROUD TO SAY WE ACTUALLY HAVE A POLICY A DALLAS POLICY A FORMAL POLICY THAT IS, TO ALLOW THE STREAMLINED PROCESS.
AND FOR OUR STUDENTS TO COME IN AND GET THE CONTINUING EDUCATION WORK COMPLETELY
[00:25:03]
TRANSITIONED OVER TO THE CREDIT SIDE.THESE TYPES OF SUPPORT AND REALLY INTENTIONAL NO SUPPORT FOR THIS STUDENT HAS EMPOWERED OUR STUDENTS.
OUR CE STUDENTS REALLY FEEL LIKE THEY ARE PART OF OUR DALLAS COLLEGE FAMILY.
WE HAD A GED STUDENT, SHE NEEDED SOME HELP WITH SCIENCE.
SHE WAS SHOCKED WHEN HIS SUCCESS COACH TOLD HER YOU CAN USE SOME OF OUR RESOURCES FOR TUTORING THAT WE HAVE.
AND SHE SAID REALLY? I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST FOR REAL STUDENTS.
AND THE COACH TOLD HER, YOU ARE A REAL STUDENT! AND CE IS A REAL COURSE! YOU DESERVE THE EXACT SAME SERVICES AND RESOURCES THAT ALL OF OUR STUDENTS DO.
AND I KNOW IT IS INTENTIONAL CONVERSATIONS LIKE THIS AND THE ONGOING SUPPORT THAT SHE WILL RECEIVE FROM OUR SUCCESS COACH THAT IS REALLY GOING TO MOTIVATE HER AND ENCOURAGE HER TO CONTINUE ON TO EVEN GREATER THINGS.
GETTING THE GED, IS JUST THE BEGINNING IN HER JOURNEY AT DALLAS COLLEGE.
AND SO IS BECAUSE OF THINGS LIKE THIS, IT'S BECAUSE WE REALLY BEING INTENTIONAL IN CLOSING THE GAP BETWEEN STUDENT SUCCESS, WORKFORCE, CONTINUING EDUCATION THAT WE ARE REALLY ABLE TO LIVE OUT OUR MISSION TO TRANSFORM THE LIVES AND COMMUNITIES.
THROUGH HIGHER EDUCATION AND TRULY GIVE OUR STUDENTS THE OPPORTUNITY TO ENROLL IN THEIR CAREER.
I REALLY WANT TO THANK DOCTOR JOSEPH AND -- AND THANK YOU ALL FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO ALLOW ME TO LEAD US THROUGH THIS EXCITING CHANGE.
AND REALLY TO JUST CONTINUE TO IMPROVE THE WAY WE SERVE OUR DALLAS COLLEGE STUDENTS EVERY SINGLE DAY.
I KNOW THAT WE ARE IN GOOD HANDS.
BUT FIRST, TOWNHALL @ DCCCD, -- TOWNHALL@DCCD.ORG THIS IS THE EMAIL TO SOME QUESTIONS.
I WOULD LIKE TO INTRODUCE DOCTOR FLOYD.
WE JUST HEARD YOU DISCUSS THE TEAM APPROACH BUT DIDN'T REALLY FLESH OUT SOME OF THE CHALLENGES.
WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO DO IS INTRODUCE DOCTOR ROB -- AND FOR HIM TO ELABORATE ON SOME OF THE CHALLENGES AS A TAG ONTO YOUR QUESTION.
>> LET'S SEE IF I CAN GET THIS TO WORK! WELL THANK YOU FOR HAVING ME, DOCTOR FLOYD.
AND THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING ME TO SPEND A FEW MINUTES TALKING ABOUT HOW FACULTY AND LEADERSHIP WITHIN THE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION ARE WORKING COLLABORATIVELY WITH INDUSTRY AND COMMUNITY PARTNERS TO SOLVE COMPLEX PROBLEMS. ONE OF THE PROBLEMS THAT NEGATIVELY IMPACTS OUR COMMUNITY AND THEIR VERY OWN DALLAS COLLEGE STUDENTS IS LACK OF ACCESS TO AFFORDABLE AND HIGH QUALITY CHILDCARE.
THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC HAS MASS CHILD CARE CLOSURES.
AND IN THIS WAS A CRITICAL ROLE THAT ACCESS TO HIGH-QUALITY CHILDCARE PLAYS IN THE ECONOMIC HEALTH OF OUR REGION AND SLEEP.
BECAUSE THE CHILDCARE SECTOR ENABLES MANY PARENTS AND STUDENTS TO WORK, DEVELOPMENTS THAT THREATEN THE QUALITY, QUANTITY OR AFFORDABILITY OF THE SERVICE DISCOURAGE MANY PARENTS, WOMEN IN PARTICULAR, TO RETURN TO THE LABOR FORCE.
BECAUSE OF THIS, CHILDCARE IS NOW FINALLY BEING RECOGNIZED AS AN ESSENTIAL SERVICE FOR WORKING PARENTS AND STUDENTS.
WHAT ARE WE AT DALLAS COLLEGE AND WHAT ARE WE AT THE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION DOING TO SOLVE THESE PROBLEMS? FIRST, WE ARE JUST IN THE NEED TO DEVELOP A ROBUST EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR WORKFORCE.
OUR REGION IS SHORT OVER 4000 EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATORS.
WE WORKED TO CREATE THE FIRST COMMUNITY COLLEGE BACHELORS DEGREE IN EDUCATION AND THE ENTIRE STATE.
$79 PER CREDIT THIS IS THE MOST AFFORDABLE EDUCATION BACHELORS DEGREE IN THE STATE.
SOMETHING WE KNOW OUR STUDENTS ARE EXCITED ABOUT BECAUSE WE HAD OVER 3000 APPLICATIONS FOR THE FIRST COHORT THAT STARTED THIS FALL.
THIS ACADEMIC YEAR WE WILL ERODE NEARLY 500 STUDENTS IN UPPER LEVEL BACHELORS DEGREE COURSES AND EXPECT THE NUMBER TO DOUBLE TO ABOUT 1000 NEXT YEAR.
SECOND, OUR EARLY CHILDHOOD STUDENTS TOLD US THEY NEEDED TO WORK IN ORDER TO CONTINUE TO PROGRESS THROUGH THEIR DEGREE PLANS.
MANY OF OUR STUDENTS COME TO US HAVING TO CHOOSE BETWEEN WORKER SCHOOL LEAVING THEM WITHOUT A VIABLE PATHWAY TO CONTINUE THEIR EDUCATION.
WE'VE BEEN WORKING WITH THE DALLAS COLLEGE WORKFORCE AND ADVANCEMENT TEAMS AND HAVE BEEN ABLE TO IDENTIFY NEARLY $1 MILLION IN FEDERAL WORK-STUDY FUNDING TO CREATE PAID WORK-BASED LEARNING EXPERIENCES FOR STUDENTS.
[00:30:01]
THIS MEANS DALLAS COLLEGE STUDENTS ARE EARNING CLASS CREDIT AND GETTING PAID WHILE WORKING UP TO 20 HOURS A WEEK DIRECTLY WITH YOUNG STUDENTS IN EARLY LEARNING CLASSROOMS. THESE TYPES OF INTENTIONAL WORK-BASED LEARNING EXPERIENCE EXPOSE OUR STUDENTS TO THE INDUSTRY EARLY ON WHILE PROVIDING THEM WITH A SEAMLESS PATHWAY TO A FULL-TIME JOB ONCE THEY FINISH THEIR DEGREE.FINALLY, AS DISCUSSED EARLIER STUDENTS HAVE SHARED WITH US THEY NEED ACCESS TO CHILDCARE THAT IS AFFORDABLE AND HIGH QUALITY.
TO ADDRESS THIS WE BEEN WORKING WITH STUDENTS SUCCESS LEADERSHIP TO -- DELICACY WAS LOOKING HIGH-QUALITY CHILDCARE CENTERS IN EACH OF OUR SEVEN CAMPUSES BUT STUDENTS CAN ALSO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF CHILDCARE VOUCHERS, GIVING THEM ACCESS TO FREE CHILDCARE AND ELIGIBLE CENTERS ACROSS DALLAS COUNTY.
WE DON'T WANT STUDENTS TO HAVE TO CHOOSE BETWEEN THEIR EDUCATION AND CARING FOR THEIR CHILDREN.
I WORK IN THE SPACE IS JUST STARTING AND WE ARE REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO CONTINUING TO WORK COLLABORATIVELY WITH OTHER DALLAS COLLEGE DEPARTMENTS TO DEVELOP INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS TO COMPLEX COMMUNITY PROBLEMS. THANK YOU.
>> DR. DEHAAS, WE LOTS OF QUESTIONS AND PANEL DISCUSSION.
LET'S SEE, LET'S GO TO DR. MAY, DR. LONON AND -- STAFFING IS A HOT TOPIC.
AND AMONG EMPLOYEES, NOW THAT THE NEW STRUCTURE IS IN PLACE, SPECIFICALLY SOME EMPLOYEES HAVE EXPRESSED FEELING OVERWORKED OR ANXIOUS, MANY ARE STRUGGLING TO KEEP UP WITH DEMAND.
THAT NOW HAS SOME TEAMS OPERATING WITH LESS EMPLOYEES THAN THEY DID FROM BEFORE.
HOW IS LEADERSHIP PLANNING TO ADDRESS SOME OF THESE CONCERNS?
>> AND AGAIN, I SPOKE TO THAT A LITTLE BIT EARLIER AND IN TERMS OF JUST MY APPRECIATION FOR THE GREAT WORK.
AND SOME OF IT FRANKLY, WAS JUST CAUSED BY THE TRANSITION ITSELF AS WE WERE CREATING NEW POSITIONS PUTTING PEOPLE, WE DIDN'T ALWAYS HAVE THE ENTIRE STAFF IN PLACE TO MEET THE NEEDS AND IT WAS JUST A PROCESS THAT WE HAD TO GO THROUGH.
BUT ALONG THE WAY WE ALSO REALIZED IN SOME AREAS, WE WILL NEED TO CREATE GREATER INVESTMENTS, MAKING SURE THAT WE GET THE PEOPLE IN PLACE TO REALLY SERVE STUDENTS WELL.
AND I'VE KIND OF HEARD THAT FROM A LOT OF FOLKS TODAY THAT OUR INVESTMENTS HAVE BEEN, REALLY WHAT I WILL CALL STUDENT FACING AND STUDENT SUPPORT POSITIONS.
MAKING SURE WE HAVE THE PEOPLE IN PLACE AND THINGS WE HADN'T REALLY THOUGHT ABOUT BEFORE, YOU JUST HEARD DR. DEHAAS TALK ABOUT CHILDCARE.
HONESTLY, THAT HAS BEEN A REAL FRUSTRATION OF MINE, HOW WE MEET THOSE NEEDS AND WE'VE DEALT WITH HUNGER ISSUES, WE BEEN DEALING WITH OTHERS AND AT THE SAME TIME, THOUSANDS OF STUDENTS THAT ARE THEMSELVES IN STRESSFUL ENVIRONMENTS, TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO GO TO SCHOOL AND THAT COMBINED WITH OUR FOLKS, MANY DEALING WITH ISSUES AT HOME AS A RESULT OF THE PANDEMIC, I KNOW IT'S BEEN STRESSFUL AND I KNOW IT HAS LED TO IN SOME CASES BURNOUT, OVERLOAD AND I HATE IT AS WE FILL THAT NEED, BUT ALSO I APPRECIATE THOSE THAT HAVE BOTH COMMUNICATED WITH US WHAT THEY ARE DEALING WITH SO WE CAN UNDERSTAND AND ADDRESS IT.
AND SOMETIMES, HAVE BEEN PATIENT WITH US AS WE SORT OUT THE RIGHT SOLUTIONS TO COMPLEX ISSUES.
>> THE OTHER THING I WILL ADD IS THAT I THINK WE GET IT.
PEOPLE ARE STRESSED, SOCIETY IS STRESSED RIGHT NOW, DR. MAY AND I WERE WITH THE GROUP OF COMMUNITY COLLEGE SYSTEM CEO 'S AND AROUND THE SAME TIME I SPOKE ON A PANEL WHERE THE PRESIDENT OF UTD AND WE WERE TALKING ABOUT SHARED EXPERIENCE OF EMPLOYEES.
THIS WAS A PANDEMIC RELATED CONVERSATION, HOW PEOPLE WERE STRESSED, WE JUST LAYERED ON A TRANSITION IN THE MIDST OF THAT YOU KNOW TO ADD MORE AND SO I THINK WE ARE MINDFUL OF THAT, AND WE ARE DOING A FEW DIFFERENT THINGS TO BE SENSITIVE, ONE
[00:35:03]
IS THAT WE ARE MAKING SURE THAT WE ARE HEARING WHAT IS ON FOLKS MINDS, THAT WE ARE ENSURING THAT THE GROWING PAINS OF THE TRANSITION DON'T BECOME THE NORM AND DON'T GET INSTITUTIONALIZED.WE IDENTIFY THEM WHERE WE CAN.
BUT THAT WILL TAKE SOME TIME, I'VE BEEN DOING SOME SMALL GROUP SESSIONS AT EACH OF THE CAMPUSES TO GET FEEDBACK FROM A CROSS-SECTION OF FOLKS.
AND I THINK STARTING NEXT WEEK WE WILL BEGIN SOME SESSIONS WITH MEMBERS OF THE FUNCTIONAL TEAMS AND THE PRESIDENT'S WILL BE LEAVING THOSE ON CAMPUS AND IT REALLY IS JUST AN OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE WHAT'S GOING ON, SHARE YOUR PERSPECTIVE, MAKE SURE THAT WE KNOW WHAT WE DON'T KNOW.
AND SO WE WILL BE VERY FOCUSED ON THAT BUT THE OTHER THING I WILL SAY IS, I HOPE WE JUST GIVE EACH OTHER A LITTLE GRACE.
THERE'S NOT A WHOLE LOT OF THAT IN SOCIETY RIGHT NOW GENERALLY.
BUT WE DO HAVE NEW PEOPLE AND NEW ROLES THAT ARE TRYING TO LEARN THEIR WAY THROUGH THOSE NEW ROLES.
BUT THE EXPECTATIONS ARE REALLY HIGH.
AND AS DR. MAY MENTIONED AND YOU HEARD FROM DR. DEHAAS, THE EXTERNAL COMMUNITY IS LOOKING AT US TO SOLVE THEIR PROBLEMS. PERHAPS MORE THAN EVER, YOU HAVE ALL I'M SURE BEEN TO PLACES WHERE YOU HAD TO WAIT WHERE THERE IS A DELAY TO GET THINGS WORKED THERE AR SIGNS OF THE DOOR THEY SAY WE DON'T HAVE ENOUGH STAFF RIGHT NOW SO WE HAVE LIMITED HOURS.
THEY ARE LOOKING TO US TO SOLVE THOSE PROBLEMS AND HELP GET PEOPLE BACK TO WORK.
BUT IN THE MEANTIME, WE'VE GOT TO FOCUS ON TAKING CARE OF EACH OTHER AND LOOKING OUT FOR EACH OTHER SO IF QUITE HONESTLY WE CAN THEN BE EVEN BETTER POSITIONED TO TAKE CARE OF STUDENTS AND COMMUNITIES THAT WE SERVE.
>> THANK YOU THIS IS OUR LIVE HYBRID TOWN HALL AND GET YOUR QUESTIONS AND YOU STILL HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY, IF WE CANNOT GET YOUR QUESTIONS TODAY, WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR YOUR QUESTIONS AND PUT THEM IN THE HOPPER FOR THE NEXT TOWN HALL.
>> OUR WORK WAS BEYOND OUR COLLEGE CAMPUSES AND REQUIRES THAT WE WORK COLLABORATIVELY WITH OUR BUSINESS AND COMMUNITY PARTNERS.
THE GOAL IS TO ENSURE OUR PROGRAMS AND SERVICES ALIGNED WITH MARKET NEEDS AND PREPARE STUDENTS FOR CAREERS, THIS IS WHERE YOU AND YOUR TEAM COME IN.
AS VICE CHANCELLOR OF WORKFORCE AND ENHANCEMENT PLEASE SHARE THE TEAMS NEW STRUCTURE AND ONE CHALLENGE THE NEW APPROACH IS HELPING DALLAS COLLEGE TO ADDRESS BETTER AND TO SERVE BETTER STUDENTS AND THE COMMUNITY.
>> THANK YOU, I'M HAPPY TO TALK ABOUT THAT.
WORKFORCE AND ADVANCEMENT IS REALLY THE DIVISION THAT CONNECTS EVERYBODY TO THE OUTSIDE WORLD.
INSIDE DALLAS COLLEGE OF EMPLOYERS AND WITH PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY WHO REALLY DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT COLLEGE.
WE SET THE ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE AND UP WITHIN WORKFORCE IN ADVANCE TO PROVIDE THOSE CONNECTIONS IN A VARIETY OF WAYS.
WHEN WE THINK OF WORKFORCE WE THINK OF BOTH SIDES OF THE SPECTRUM.
CONNECTING PEOPLE TO US AND EDUCATION AND TRAINING THAT WILL HELP THEM PARTICIPATE IN THE WORKFORCE.
ALSO CONNECTING EMPLOYERS IN THE COMMUNITY THAT NEED TALENT AND AS JUSTIN JUST TALKED ABOUT, THEY ARE LOOKING TO US TO HELP SOLVE THEIR PROBLEMS WHEN IT COMES TO FINDING PEOPLE TO WORK.
OUR STRUCTURE IN THE SLIDE YOU SEE ON THE SCREEN IS REALLY BIG BUCKETS OF WHAT WE HAVE IN OUR SIDE.
WE'VE ORGANIZED IN A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENTLY.
WE START OUT WITH CONNECTIONS FROM THOSE COMMUNITIES AND INDIVIDUALS WHO DON'T KNOW WHAT COLLEGE IS ABOUT.
THEY MAY HAVE NEVER THOUGHT THEY COULD ATTEND COLLEGE.
THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT WE ARE, THE DON'T KNOW WHAT WE DO AND THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO CONNECT TO US.
SO WE DO THAT THROUGH CAREER CONNECTED LEARNING WHICH IS ONE OF OUR BIG DIVISIONS.
IT HOUSES A PROGRAM CALLED WORK READY YOU HELPS SO MAYBE THAT NEEDS TO COME IN TO GET THEIR GED FIRST, MAYBE ONLY KNOW BASIC ENGLISH.
THEY NEED TO KNOW HOW TO GET A JOB AND KEEP IT THAT'S OUR FIRST POINT.
CAREER CONNECTED LEARNING ALSO HOUSES WHAT WE CALL EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING.
THAT IS INTERNSHIPS AND APPRENTICESHIPS AND WAYS TO CONNECT STUDENTS VERY EARLY ON WITH EMPLOYERS, WORK-BASED EXPERIENCES, SO THEY CAN LEARN AND EARN AT THE SAME TIME.
WORK READY YOU CAREER CONNECTED LEARNING IS A REALLY LARGE DIVISION.
[00:40:02]
IT IS LED BY GLORIA SMITH.SHE HAS A TREMENDOUS TEAM OF FOLKS WORKING TO HELP MAKE THOSE CONNECTIONS.
WE HAVE ANOTHER ORGANIZATION WITHIN WORKFORCE AND ADVANCEMENT CALLED ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY.
I LOVE THE NAME, LIBBY DECIDED TO NAME A DEPARTMENT THAT BECAUSE IT IS REALLY WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT.
IT IS LED BY BEN MCGILL, AND IT ENCOMPASSES SEVERAL DIFFERENT OPERATIONS.
STARTING WITH THE LABOR MARKET -- WE'VE HAD IT FOR FIVE OR SIX YEARS BUT WHAT THAT DOES IS TAKE A DEEP DIVE INTO DATA TO SHOW US "WHERE THE JOBS ARE".
NOW FIVE YEARS FROM NOW OR 10 YEARS FROM NOW AND THEN HELP US UNDERSTAND HOW WE PROVIDE EDUCATION AND TRAINING SO STUDENTS ARE PREPARED TO TAKE THOSE JOBS IN THE ECONOMY.
IT IS A REALLY FUN GROUP OF PEOPLE AND FUN WORK TO DO.
AND IT HELPS GUIDE SOME DECISIONS THAT WE MAKE.
ESPECIALLY IN DOCTOR FLOYD'S AREAS AROUND PROGRAMMING AND HOW WE TEACH STUDENTS TO BE READY FOR THOSE JOBS.
ALSO INSIDE ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY WE HAVE WHAT IS CALLED THE EMPLOYER RESOURCE CENTER.
WE HAVE MARTHA FERNANDEZ THE SENIOR DIRECTOR IN THE AREA HERE TODAY AND SHE WILL TALK TO US IN A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ONE OF OUR CHALLENGES BUT THAT IS REALLY THE PLACE WHERE WE LOOK TO CONNECT EMPLOYERS WITH TALENT AND THE TALENT IS THE STUDENT PIPELINE.
HELP THE STUDENTS GET PLACED IN A JOB, DIFFERENT IN CAREER SERVICES.
WE WORK CLOSELY WITH STUDENT SUCCESS AND CAREER SERVICES THAT EXIST ON THE CAMPUSES.
THAT PROVIDE CAREER ADVISING AND INFORMATION ABOUT CAREERS AND ASSESSMENTS FOR STUDENTS.
BUT WE WORK THE EMPLOYER SIDE OF THAT.
WHAT IS THE EMPLOYER LOOKING FOR? HOW DO WE CONNECT THAT BACKWARDS INTO WHAT WE HAVE WITH OUR STUDENT POPULATION.
THE OTHER DEPARTMENT WITH AN ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY IS THE CRM SYSTEMS SALESFORCE PRETTY PROBABLY SEEN EMAILS ABOUT THIS WE ARE IN THE EARLY PHASES OF IMPLEMENTING, YES, YOU SEEN A LOT OF EMAILS! IMPLEMENT IN THE PLATFORM, WE'VE USE IT WITH DALLAS COUNTY PROMISE FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS NOW AND ON THE STUDENT SIDE WE ALSO ARE USING IT IT ON THE EMPLOYER SIDE SO WE CAN MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE ORGANIZED AND PRESENT VERY UNITED FRONT IN THE COMMUNITY WHEN IT COMES TO EMPLOYER PARTNERS, COMMUNITY PARTNERS.
WE WORK EXTENSIVELY WITH OUR PRESIDENTS OR OUT IN THE COMMUNITY TRYING TO SOLVE PROBLEMS AND THAT MEANS THEY TALK TO A LOT OF PEOPLE.
WE DON'T WANT MULTIPLE PEOPLE GOING TO AN ORGANIZATION, GOING TO THE CEO WITHOUT THE KNOWLEDGE OF SOMEBODY ELSE HAS TALKED T THAT CEO.
AND SALESFORCE WILL HELP US ORGANIZE AT WORK, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR US.
AND A VERY LONG PROCESS I'M AFRAID OF GIVING EVERYBODY ON IT.
BUT WE ARE DEFINITELY WORKING ON THAT.
INNOVATION AND BUSINESS STRATEGY IS ANOTHER AREA, I TOLD YOU ABOUT THE INNOVATION HUB WILL BE PASSED A BOND ISSUE, ONCE WE ARE THROUGH THAT THE END OF THE LAWSUIT WHICH I HOPE IT'S SOON, AND ABLE TO BUILD AN INNOVATION HUB, THIS GROUP WILL BE VERY ENGAGED IN THAT.
BUT IT IS ALSO A GROUP THAT HELPS PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR SMALL BUSINESSES THROUGH THE GOLDMAN SACHS 10,000 SMALL BUSINESSES PROGRAM, THEY CAN LEARN HOW TO RUN A BUSINESS, OTHER RESOURCES THAT WE CAN CONNECT THE SMALL BUSINESSES TO, CORPORATE PARTNERS MEDIUM AND LARGE SIZE BUSINESSES HELP ACCESS TRAINING FOR THEM INCUMBENT WORKERS, THEY MAY NEED TO IMPLEMENT A NEW PROCESS OR DEVELOP A NEW PRODUCT AND WE CAN HELP PROVIDE TRAINING FOR THAT.
SO THAT'S EXCITING GROUP AS WELL.
WE COULDN'T DO ANYTHING WITHOUT MONEY AND RESOURCES TO DO THESE THINGS.
AND THAT'S WHAT ADVANCEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT IN THE FOUNDATION ARE ALL ABOUT WHICH ARE ALL PART OF WORKFORCE AND ADVANCEMENT.
WE HAVE A TREMENDOUS BENEFIT RIGHT NOW OF A LOT OF FEDERAL DOLLARS FEDERAL GRANTS CAN HELP US DO THINGS TO SUPPORT STUDENTS AND OUR EMPLOYERS.
BUT THE PRIVATE SIDE AS WELL, PHILANTHROPY, CORPORATE FOUNDATIONS, PRIVATE FOUNDATIONS, ARE VERY INTERESTED IN THE WORK WE DO IT DALLAS COLLEGE AND THEY ARE STEPPING UP TO THE PLATE LIKE NEVER BEFORE, TO HELP US CONNECT WITH OTHER COMMUNITIES, TO MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE ON THE CUTTING EDGE OF WHAT WE DO.
AND SO THAT IS A BIG PIECE OF WORKFORCE AND ADVANCEMENT.
DOCTOR FLOYD MENTIONED HOW WE ARE ALL WORKING TOGETHER AND THAT'S REALLY WHAT WE ARE ABOUT, WHERE THE CONNECTORS OUTSIDE AND INSIDE.
I WANT TO TALK ABOUT ONE PROBLEM AND I THINK YOU'VE ALL HEARD ABOUT THIS PROBLEM.
IT'S BEEN ALL OVER THE NEWS AND JUST MENTIONED IT AS WELL.
PEOPLE ARE NOT GOING BACK INTO THE WORKFORCE.
[00:45:02]
THERE WAS A FIGURE IN A THINK IT WAS SEPTEMBER, OVER FOR MANY PEOPLE QUIT THEIR JOBS IN ONE MONTH.EMPLOYERS ARE KNOCKING DOWN OUR DOORS TO TRY TO GET TO STUDENTS TO COME TAKE JOBS.
I MENTIONED MARTHA FERNANDEZ A LITTLE WHILE AGO.
SHE'S A SENIOR DIRECTOR OF THE EMPLOYER RESOURCE CENTER, SHE WILL TALK A LITTLE ABOUT HOW WE ARE WORKING TO SOLVE THAT PROBLEM.
I COME TO NOT JUST A SENIOR DIRECTOR OF THE EMPLOYEE RESOURCE CENTER BUT ALSO AS A DALLAS COLLEGE ALUM.
I STARTED MY CAREER AT DALLAS COLLEGE.
AND IT WAS THROUGH MY FRESHMAN YEAR CULTURAL STUDIES CLASS AND THE FACULTY OF THAT CLASS, DOCTOR GONZALEZ AND DOCTOR GRIMES, THAT I WAS CONNECTED TO MY FIRST INTERNSHIP.
THROUGH THE INTERNSHIP I LEARNED ABOUT MY PURPOSE, I GAIN THE SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND CONFIDENCE NEEDED FOR ME TO GET THE NEXT JOB, THE JOB AFTER THAT AND THE JOB AFTER THAT.
AND SO I SPEAK ABOUT THE POTENTIAL OF DALLAS COLLEGE HAS AND THE WEIGHT EMPOWERED ME -- WE HAVE THE CHANCE TO INNOVATE TOGETHER PRETTY HEARD SOME OF THE PEERS TALK ABOUT WORK WE ARE DOING COLLABORATIVELY, TO SOLVE SOME OF THESE LARGE-SCALE ISSUES.
THE CHALLENGES AS DOCTOR WILKINSON MENTIONED, ON A DAILY, WEEKLY AND MONTHLY BASIS.
WE RECEIVE HUNDREDS OF EMPLOYER INQUIRIES.
ONE, TO KNOCK DOWN THE DOORS TO ACCESS THE STUDENT TALENT PIPELINE.
MY TEAM WORKED TIRELESSLY TO REACH BACK OUT TO THE EMPLOYERS, LEARN MORE ABOUT THEIR NEEDS, COME BACK AND COLLABORATE WITH OTHER INTERNAL DEPARTMENTS TO SOLVE THAT CHALLENGE.
THE LAST SIX MONTH WE BUILT A LOT OF COLLABORATION INTERNALLY.
AS WILL SOME TECHNOLOGY TOOLS TO HELP THOSE EMPLOYERS MEET THE STUDENT TALENT PIPELINE AND TO HELP STUDENTS MEET THOSE EMPLOYERS WHERE THEY ARE.
WHAT DO WE NEED EVERYONE ELSE TO HELP US WITH? WE NEED EVERYONE ELSE TO TAKE ACTION, LEAD OUR STUDENTS TO THE TECHNOLOGY TOOLS WHERE THEY CAN DEVELOP THEIR PROFILES, UPLOAD THE RESUME AND EMPLOYERS CAN FIND THEM.
THIS IS ABOUT BUILDING EQUITY AND ACCESS.
AND ALL OF US HAVE OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY A ROLE IN THIS WORK.
>> THANK YOU, MARTHA FERNANDEZ.
AND WE ARE RUNNING SHORT OF TIME.
WE HAVE SO MUCH FUN DOING THIS.
YOU GUYS WILL HAVE TO LISTEN FASTER BECAUSE WE ARE RUNNING SHORT ON TIME.
BUT SHERRY -- WILL DISCUSS WITH IMPORTANT ISSUE THAT KEEPS COMING UP, JOB SECURITY.
IT IS A CONCERN FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE AND WE ARE AT THE END OF THE RE-ORG, SO REGARDING THE END OF THAT, ARE THERE ADDITIONAL -- WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR JOB SECURITY?
>> THANK YOU, AND AGAIN IS WONDERFUL TO BE HERE AND TO TALK TO YOU.
WE KNOW IT'S BEEN A LONG HAUL AND WE KNOW THAT AT TIMES, THERE HAS BEEN A TON OF ANGST AND FRUSTRATION AND ANXIETY AND YOU KNOW THAT IS UNFORTUNATELY A NATURAL PART OF CHANGE.
BUT THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT WE HAVE KIND OF ENDED PHASE 1 AS WE TALKED ABOUT TODAY.
SO THE TALENT POOL PROCESS AS WE KNOW IT, HAS CLOSED.
THAT DOESN'T MEAN WE'VE FILLED ALL OF OUR ROLES IT JUST MEANS THAT WE HAVE CLOSED KIND OF THAT CHAPTER AND THEN IN TERMS OF REDUCTIONS, LAYOFFS, THOSE HAVE ALSO ENDED AS A RESULT OF THIS INITIAL RESTRUCTURE.
SO THERE WILL BE NO FURTHER LAYOFFS AS A RESULT OF THE RESTRUCTURE.
MOVING FORWARD, CLEARLY AS WE TALKED ABOUT, OUR FOCUS WILL BE ON PERFORMANCE, ACCOUNTABILITY, ENSURING THAT WE BUILT DALLAS COLLEGE, THAT WE CAN CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THE STUDENTS AND THE NEEDS THAT THEY HAVE.
IN TERMS OF RECRUITING, I DID WANT TO LET YOU KNOW THAT NOW ANY JOB, WILL GO BACK TO THE NORMAL PROCESS OF BEING POSTED INTERNALLY AND EXTERNALLY AND ON THE WEBSITE.
CONTINUE TO LOOK BECAUSE WE STILL HAVE OBVIOUSLY A LOT OF OPEN ROLES TO FILL WITHIN THE STRUCTURE.
BUT KIND OF ROUND ONE OF TALENT POOLS ARE DONE.
I SHOULDN'T EVEN SAY THAT, THEY ARE DONE! I DON'T EVER WANT TO SAY THAT WORD AGAIN! HOW ABOUT THAT? [LAUGHTER] IS VERY GOOD NEWS.
>> KEEPING WITH THE SAME TOPIC A COUPLE OF MORE QUICK QUESTIONS.
HOW IS A COLLEGE SUPPORTING EMPLOYEES AFTER EXPERIENCING ALL OF THIS WIDESPREAD CHANGE?
AND I WANT TO BACKTRACK A PROBABLY SHOULD'VE SAID THIS PREVIOUSLY.
THROUGHOUT THE REORGANIZATION OR RESTRUCTURE, WE HAVE TO
[00:50:02]
CREATE 1850 NEW ROLES.IT DOESN'T NECESSARILY MEAN NEW POSITIONS OR UNIQUE JOBS BUT 1850 NEW ROLES.
ENTER THE PROCESS WE JUST TALKED ABOUT WHICH SHALL REMAIN NAMELESS, WE HAVE PLACED ALMOST 1500 EITHER EXISTING EMPLOYEES OR SOME EXTERNAL EMPLOYEES.
THAT IS A LOT OF CHANGE AND WE UNDERSTAND THAT.
AND WE REALLY WANT TO SUPPORT OUR EMPLOYEES THROUGH THAT.
YOU HAVE SEEN OBVIOUSLY IN THE PAST WE'VE DONE SOME WELLNESS CALLS.
WE HAVE HAD SOME EAP SESSIONS ON CAMPUSES WE'VE HAD THERAPY DOGS, ONE OF MY FAVORITE.
BUT THAT SUPPORT DOESN'T END THERE AND WE WILL CONTINUE THAT.
IN ACCORDANCE WITH KIND OF THE DESIGN OF THE TOURS WERE THE LISTENING MEETINGS, WE ARE STARTING ASK HR LIVE WHICH WILL BE PRESENTED IS FROM THE HR TEAM AND THE EMPLOYEES RELATIONS ERA BENEFITS AREA AND COMPENSATION AREA.
THEY WILL BE AT THE CAMPUSES AND THEY WILL BE IN A ROOM ALL DAY LONG, DROP IN, ASK THEM WHATEVER QUESTIONS.
IF IT'S A CONFIDENTIAL MATTER YOU CAN SET UP A TIME AND GO ELSEWHERE, BUT THEY ARE THERE FOR YOU.
WE REALLY WANT TO ENSURE THAT OUR EMPLOYEES HAVE THE INFORMATION AND RESOURCES WE NEED.
YOU PROBABLY ALSO SEEN CAMPUSES THE INFORMATION CENTRAL AREAS THOSE WERE DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY AT A CAMPUS LOCATION.
THEY ARE THE GO TO WHEN YOU NEED TO KNOW SOMETHING PLEASE UTILIZE THOSE RESOURCES AS WELL.
WE ARE GOING TO CONTINUE THE WELLNESS CALLS AND BE DOING THAT TO KIND OF ENSURE AS WE ARE MOVING INTO THE HOLIDAY SEASON AND DE-ESCALATE FROM THE TRANSITION THAT OUR EMPLOYEES HAVE THE RESOURCES THEY NEED AND OF COURSE WE ALWAYS HAVE EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM WHICH IS A GREAT PROGRAM FREE TO AL EMPLOYEES FOR WHATEVER YOU MAY WANT TO DISCUSS.
WHETHER IT IS PERSONAL, WORK-RELATED, AND NOTHING OF THAT NATURE.
I REALLY ENCOURAGE IF YOU WANT TO CHAT USE THE PROGRAM IT'S A GREAT PROGRAM, WE DON'T FIND OUT WHO UTILIZES IT, NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT THERE.
REALLY WANT TO PROVIDE THAT SUPPORT TO ALL OF OUR EMPLOYEES THAT IS SO NEEDED RIGHT NOW.
>> ONE MORE FOLLOW-UP QUESTION, 1850 EMPLOYEES.
THAT'S A LOT OF CHANGE, A LOT OF NEW ROLES.
THAT IS REALLY LOCATED A LOT OF EMPLOYEES.
SO TALK ABOUT THE INCREASED COMMUTE TIMES FOR EMPLOYEES AND WHAT LEVEL OF SUPPORT AND FLEXIBILITY ARE WE ABLE TO PROVIDE FOR THOSE AFFECTED EMPLOYEES?
>> AS YOU ALL KNOW, PANDEMIC TAUGHT US THAT WE CAN WORK REMOTELY.
AND BE MORE FLEXIBLE IN OUR SCHEDULE BUT THE QUESTION IS, DOES IT ALWAYS MEET BOTH OF OUR EMPLOYER OR EMPLOYEE NEEDS AND AND STUDENT NEEDS AS WE TALKED ABOUT.
AND IT'S INTERESTING, I WAS SHARING A STUDY I JUST READ THIS MORNING BEFORE COMING IN, AND THEY TALKED ABOUT HOW ABOUT 66 PERCENT OF EMPLOYEES WHO WORKED VIRTUALLY SAID THAT THE COLLABORATION WAS MUCH HARDER AND THEY HAD TO MAKE MUCH MORE OF AN EFFORT TO COLLABORATE.
SO WE CERTAINLY WANT TO REMAIN OPEN TO FLEXIBLE WORK SCHEDULES, WHETHER THAT MAY BE A REMOTE ENVIRONMENT, AND WHETHER IT MAY MEAN FLEX SCHEDULING.
WE ARE CLEARLY IN THE PROCESS OF EVALUATING THAT.
BUT WE DO KNOW IN OUR INDUSTRY AND WITH OUR MISSION SUPPORTING OUR STUDENTS, THAT THEY ARE JUST GOING TO BE SOME ROLES NOT CAPABLE OF BEING PERFORMED VIRTUALLY OR REMOTELY.
SO WE CONTINUE TO EVALUATE THAT AND HOPE TO SEE SOME PROGRAMS ROLLING OVER THE COURSE OF THE NEXT 3 TO 6 MONTHS THAT WILL ENCOURAGE THAT WHERE IT IS POSSIBLE BUT ALSO TRY TO SUPPORT THOSE ROLES WHERE IT IS NOT POSSIBLE.
WE HAVE A LOT MORE QUESTIONS AND ABOUT FIVE MINUTES LEFT SO I WILL JUST THROW THEM OUT RAPID FIRE.
WE WILL SEE HOW MANY WE CAN GET DONE IN THE NEXT FOR FIVE MINUTES.
DOCTOR FLOYD, RECEIVED QUESTIONS REGARDING COURSE OFFERINGS.
SPECIFICALLY, WHY SOME COURSES ARE NOT OFFERED AT ALL CAMPUSES.
SOME EMPLOYEES HAVE BEEN ASKED THIS QUESTION BY THEIR STUDENTS AND WANT TO KNOW HOW BEST TO RESPOND.
>> THANK YOU FOR THAT QUESTION.
WE ARE ACTUALLY ABLE TO OFFER MANY OF OUR COURSES OVER 2000 RUBRICS ACROSS ALL CAMPUSES.
THOSE WOULD BE THE HIGH DEMAND COURSES, ENGLISH, HISTORY, GOVERNMENT, MATHEMATICS.
WE DO ALSO OFFER SOME CE PROGRAMMING AS WELL AS CREDIT PROGRAMMING THAT SPECIALIZE.
WHAT DO WE DO IN THOSE CASES? WE HAVE TO BALANCE THE COMMUNITY NEED OR DEMAND WITH OUR ABILITY TO PROVIDE SPECIALIZED TEACHING FACILITIES, RIGHT? THIS WHEN IT COMES TO NURSING, CONSTRUCTION, THINK CULINARY PROGRAM.
WE CANNOT POSSIBLY OFFER EVERY PROGRAM EVERYWHERE, BUT WE DO OUR VERY BEST GIVEN OUR GREAT DATA ANALYTICS, TO BE RESPONSIVE TO WHAT THE COMMUNITY NEEDS WITH WHAT THE COMMUNITY DEMANDS AND HOW WE PROVIDE THAT.
WE SHOULD BE VERY PROUD OF THE FACT THAT WE CAN OFFER MOST OF OUR COURSES ACROSS
[00:55:03]
ALL CAMPUSES.I WILL SAY I DON'T THINK WILL EVER BE ABLE TO OFFER EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE, BUT THIS IS ALSO WHAT WE PROVIDE SUPPORT TO STUDENTS LIKE DART PASSES TO INCREASE THEIR ABILITY TO BE ABLE TO TRAVEL FROM CAMPUS TO CAMPUS AND PLACE TO PLACE TO GET TO THE COURSES THAT THEY NEED TO FULFILL THEIR OWN PERSONAL GOALS.
A LOT OF FACULTY ARE SAYING THEIR STUDENTS ARE NOT MEETING WITH SUCCESS COACHES AND DOCTOR JOSEPH, THIS WOULD BE A QUESTION FOR YOU.
SOME PEOPLE HAVE FLOATED THE IDEA AROUND TO PUT A HOLD ON STUDENTS ACCOUNT TO ENSURE THESE MEETINGS HAPPEN.
>> THAT IS A COMMON PRACTICE IN A LOT OF INSTITUTIONS, PUTTING A HOLD ON A STUDENT RECORD.
YOU KNOW, THIS IS THE FIRST SEMESTER STUDENTS HAVE A SUCCESS COACH ASSIGNED TO THEM.
SO I WOULD LIKE, LIKE JUST TO MENTION EARLIER, WE NEED TO GIVE THINGS A LITTLE BIT OF TIME, RIGHT? BECAUSE STUDENTS ARE ALSO LEARNING ABOUT THEIR SUCCESS COACH AND WHAT DOES IT MEAN AND WHAT ASSISTANCE THEY CAN GET.
I'M NOT SAYING IT IS OFF THE TABLE BUT I WOULD LIKE TO SEE SOME DATA TO FIGURE OUT HOW MANY STUDENTS ARE NOT, HOW MANY STUDENTS, HOW CAN WE MAKE A DECISION THAT WOULD BENEFIT THE STUDENT? GIVING A LITTLE MORE TIME, ALL OPTIONS ARE UP FOR CONSIDERATION.
>> WE JUST DISCUSSED THIS ISSUE WITH FACULTY LEADERSHIP, BOTH COUNSEL AND FACULTY SCHOOLS REPRESENTATIVES.
WE PROVIDED SOME INFORMATION ON THE FACULTY ONE STOP PAGES IN COLLABORATION WITH DOCTOR STILLS AND WE ARE ALSO IN CONVERSATIONS ABOUT HOW WE MIGHT MAKE SOME OF THIS INFORMATION READILY AVAILABLE ON THE TEMPLATES WITHIN THE CLASSROOMS. SO WE ARE WORKING COLLECTIVELY TO ENSURE ALL STUDENTS ARE AWARE OF THEIR SUCCESS COACH AND TO MEET WITH THEM.
>> I THINK WE CAN SQUEEZE INTO MORE QUESTIONS.
ONE FOR SHERI AND ONE FOR CHANCELLOR ELECT LONON.
A LOT OF EMPLOYEES THAT WERE IMPACTED WERE THEN LATER REHIRED.
THREE PERCENT INCREASE IN SEPTEMBER.
>> I DON'T KNOW IF MY MIC IS ON.
OUR GUIDELINES STATE THAT IF YOU ARE EMPLOYED AND ON THE PAYROLL AS OF MAY 31 OF THE TIME PERIOD PRIOR TO THE SEPTEMBER 1 ACROSS THE BOAR INCREASE, YOU ARE ELIGIBLE.
IF SOMEONE WERE REHIRED IN JUNE, JULY OR AUGUST, UNFORTUNATELY THEY WOULD NOT BE ELIGIBLE THIS YEAR BUT THEY WOULD BE ELIGIBLE NEXT YEAR.
AND WERE REHIRED BEFORE MAY 31 WOULD BE.
>> EXCELLENT THIS TIME IS FLOWN BY BUT DR. LONON, THE VACCINATION INCENTIVE, DO YOU WANT TO ADDRESS THAT BRIEFLY?
>> YES QUICKLY, WE'VE HAD SOME QUESTIONS ABOUT THAT.
I'M HAPPY TO REPORT THAT WE HAVE OVER 70 PERCENT OF EMPLOYEES THAT HAVE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF THE VACCINE INCENTIVE.
THAT IS FULL AND PART-TIME EMPLOYEES.
ADJUNCT AND OTHERS, SO I THINK WE SHOULD BE VERY PROUD OF THAT.
THE OTHER THINGS THAT STUDENTS WE'VE HAD OVER 20,000 STUDENTS TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THAT.
THAT IS, IT GIVES SOME DEGREE OF COMFORT IN KNOWING THAT FOLKS ARE DOING THE RIGHT THING AND PROTECTING THEMSELVES.
AND THEN THE OTHER PART OF THAT IS, IF YOU HAVE NOT YET, YOU'VE GOT UNTIL MONDAY.
MAKE SURE THAT YOU GET THE -- GET THAT PROCESSED SEEKING A $500 IT MIGHT COME IN HANDY WITH THE HOLIDAYS!
>> WERE OUT OF TIME THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE INSIGHTFUL COMMENTS.
