WE HAVE MOVING INTO EXECUTIVE SESSION AND AN EXECUTIVE SESSION WILL BE FOR ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING REASONS AND CONSULTATION WITH ATTORNEY REGARDING LEGAL MATTERS ARE PENDING AND CONTEMPLATING LITIGATION AND PERSONNEL MATTERS TO APPOINTMENT AND EVALUATION OF DISCIPLINE OR DISMISSAL OF EMPLOYEES, REAL PROPERTY AND IT WOULD HAVE AN EFFECT ON THE THIRD PERSON AND DELIBERATE REGARDING SECURITY DEVICES OR AUDITS AND IT IS NOW 1:35Â P.M.

AND WE ARE MOVING INTO CLOSED SESSION AND WE WILL CONDUCT THIS INCLUSION

[6. Executive Session]

COMMITTEE BUSINESS UPON OUR RETURN.

THANK YOU.

(EXECUTIVE SESSION.

>> WE HAVE RESUMED FROM EXEUCTIVE SESSION.

>> GOOD AFTERNOON TO ALL.

WE'LL BE PROVIDING YOU WITH AN UPDATE ON THE INCLUSION OFFICE.

IT INCLUDES THREE FOCUS AREAS, SUSTAINABILITY AND DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION.

I HAVE TO MY RIGHT, THE SENIOR DIRECTOR AND TO MY LEFT, I HAVE JEANETTE, OUR

[4.1. SRI at Dallas College: Navigating the Journey to Equity and Inclusion Presenters: Georgeann Moss, Marisol Romany, Jeanette Schutz]

SENIOR DIRECTOR FOR SUPPLIER DIVERSITY.

ON THE FIRST SLIDE, WE BEGIN OUR UPDATE AND I WOULD LIKE TO POINT OUT, YOU'RE SEEING THREE DIFFERENT COLORS AND THE BLUE FOR THE POSITIONS THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN FILLED ARE CURRENT POSITIONS AND THE POSITIONS IN GOLD INCLUDE OUR BACKFILLED POSITIONS THAT WERE OPEN AND NOW IN THE INTERVIEW PROCESS AND IN RED SHOW THE ONES THAT WERE APPROVED THROUGH OUR NEW BUDGET.

>> CHANCELOR, AS I STATED WHEN WE WENT THROUGH THIS PRESENTATION, I THINK THERE'S A GLARING DISPARITY IN THE DEI, AN INEQUITY IN THE SUPPLIER DIVERSITY, AND HOPEFULLY THERE'S PLANS TO STRENGTHEN THAT PART OF OUR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY OFFICE AND ADD TO THIS.

THANK YOU.

>> THANK YOU.

>> TO CONTINUE WITH OUR STAFFING UPDATE, I WOULD LIKE TO INTRODUCE THE NEWEST MEMBERS OF OUR STAFF AND THAT IS FAY DAVIS.

SHE'S OUR ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF SUSTAINABILITY OF ENGAGEMENT WITH A MASTERS FROM CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY AND SHE WAS PREVIOUSLY THE DIRECTOR OF STUDENT LIFE OF NAVARA COLLEGE AND A FIRST GENERATION COLLEGE STUDENT AND SHE IS ORIGINALLY FROM TEXAS.

AND SO THANK YOU, FAY, AND WELCOME TO THE TEAM.

WELCOME! AND OUR NEXT SLIDE, WE SEEK TO ACHIEVE THROUGH OUR INCLUSION STRATEGY WITHIN THE OFFICE OF SUSTAINABILITY AND INCLUSION AND WE SEEK TO INTRODUCE A SENSE OF EMPOWERMENT AND ACCOUNTABILITY BY PROVIDING EDUCATION AND WE SEEK TO PROVIDE IT IN A CUSTOMER CENTRIC MANNER AND WE WILL PROVIDE SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS AND WE WILL WORK WITH GROUPS WHICH ARE THE ERGS AND THIS WILL ANCHOR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND INCLUSION AS A PART OF THE DALLAS COLLEGE CULTURE.

WE HAVE SERVED THE DALLAS COLLEGE MISSION AND WORKED WITH THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING AN INCLUSIVE ENVIRONMENT, ENHANCING QUALITY OF LIFE AND

[00:05:02]

CONTRIBUTING TO THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF OUR COMMUNITY AND WE DO THIS TO OUR THREE FOCUSED AREAS, SUSTAINABILITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION AND SUPPLIER DIVERSITY.

AND NEXT, I WOULD LIKE TO INTRODUCE GEORGANNÂ MOSS.

>> THANK YOU.

>> SO, AS YOU KNOW, FROM PREVIOUS PRESENTATIONS, THE SUSTAINABILITY OFFICE, OUR PURPOSE IS TO EDUCATE, EMPOWER AND ENCOURAGE STUDENTS, EMPLOYEES AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO PROMOTE EQUITY, IMPROVE THE ECONOMY AND PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT.

AND WE SUPPORT THE UNITED NATION'S 17 SUSTAINABLE GOALS AND USE THEM AS OUR PRIMARY, TEACHING AND LEARNING TOOL AND THESE GOALS HELP PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND ALL OF THE COMPONENTS OF SUSTAINABILITY AND HOW THEY'RE INTERRELATED AND YOU HAVE A COPY OF THE 17 SUSTAINABLE GOALS IN YOUR HANDOUT AND ON THE BACK OF THE HANDOUT ON THIS BOOKMARK IS A GRAPHIC OF OUR SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS' FRAMEWORK.

THIS IS HIGHER EDUCATION AND THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR SUSTAINABILITY EDUCATORS AND TRACKING AND RATING SYSTEM.

AND THE STARS IS A BENCHMARKING TOOL THAT WILL ENABLE US TO SEE EXACTLY WHERE WE STAND IN COMPARISON WITH OTHER HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS ACROSS THE COUNTRY.

AND THERE ARE FIVE MAIN CATEGORIES THAT YOU CAN SEE RIGHT UP THERE ON THE SLIDE AND WE HAVE ALMOST COMPETED THIS FIRST EVER SELFASSESSMENT OF ASHI STARS, BUT THIS IS THE FIRST ONE AS DALLAS COLLEGE AND WE HOPE TO SHARE THE RESULTS OF THIS SELFASSESSMENT WITH YOU AT THE NEXT BRIEFING BECAUSE AFTER WE COMPETE IT, WE SEND IT AND IT IS REVIEWED AND OUR PEERS AND THEN WE GET THE RESULTS BACK AND WE'LL SHARE THAT WITH YOU NEXT TIME.

BUT THE NEXT CATAGORY IS THE 17 SUSTAINABLE GOALS AND THERE'S FIVE CATEGORIES IN THOSE GOALS AND THE WAY WE TRACK AND MEASURE OUR ACCOMPLISHMENT IS THROUGH ANOTHER TOOL CALLED THE SDG ACTION MANAGER AND WE CAN REPORT WHEN WE GET THAT COMPLETED AND THE 17 GOALS, THEY EACH HAVE 20 OR 30 POINTS UNDERNEATH THAT AND THERE'S A LOT OF INFORMATION TO TRACK.

AND THE NEXT COLUMN IS DALLAS COLLEGE, THE ONES THAT OUR OFFICE CREATED AND TO PROVIDE ACCESS TO SUSTAINABLE EDUCATION, SUSTAINABILITY AND TO CONNECT WITH AUDIENCES AND MEASURE OUR SUPPORT OF LOCAL AND GLOBAL GOALS AND WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? YOU SEE IN THE MIND COLUMN, THE METRIC IS ARE ACHIEVING CARBON NEUTRALITY BY THE YEAR 2050 IN ALIGNMENT WITH OUR SECOND NATURE COMMITMENT AND IT'S IN ALIGNMENT WITH THE 17SDG'S AND IN ALIGNMENTS WITH THE PARIS AGREEMENT.

THE NEXT GOAL IS ZERO WASTE BY 2040 AND SO, THIS IS IN ALIGNMENT WITH THE CITY OF DALLAS ZERO WASTE GOAL AND CITY OF DALLAS SET A GOAL THAT THE WHOLE CITY WILL ACHIEVE ZERO WASTE AND WE HAVE MANY IN THE CITY OF DALLAS.

THE THIRD ONE IS INFUSE SUSTAINABILITY INTO ACROSS THE CURRICULUM BY 2023 AND THAT'S A DALLAS COLLEGE GOAL AND WE'RE WELL ON OUR WAY TO ACHIEVING THAT ONE.

AND THE NEXT ONE IS TO TEACH THE SUSTAINABLE SOLUTION'S FRAMEWORKS TO ALL STUDENTS BEFORE THEY LEAVE AND GO OUT INTO THE WORLD AND WE'LL TALK MORE ABOUT THAT LATER.

AND THE LAST ONE IS TO INCREASE OUR OUTREACH EFFORT THROUGH EXPANDING OUR NEWSLETTER MAILING LIST.

>> THANK YOU FOR INCLUDING METRICS.

USUALLY WE JUST GET THE GOALS AND THANK YOU FOR THAT.

>> YOU'RE WELCOME.

>> SO JUST LIKE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND INCLUSION HAS THREE MAIN FOCUS AREAS RIGHT NOW, STABILITY HAS THREE MAIN, EDUCATION, OPERATIONS AND OUTREACH AND ENGAGEMENT AND I WILL POINT OUT THAT THESE FOCUS AREAS ALIGN PERFECTLY WITH THE ASHI STARS AND IN THE PROGRAM AREA, WE'RE WORKING ON MANY DIFFERENT PROJECTS AND BE HAVE SEVERAL LISTED AND WE HAVE EACH TARGET AUDIENCE AND WE WORK IN COLLABORATION WITH THE DIFFERENT PROCESS OWNERS AND, FOR EXAMPLE, THE PROVOST OFFICE AND CENTER AND TEACHING AND LEARNING TO HELP FACULTY INFUSED SUSTAINABILITY INTO ALL OF THE COURSES.

AND WE'RE WORKING WITH KEY STAKEHOLDERS INCLUDING THE FACULTY AND THE SUSTAINABILITY EDUCATION STAFF SO THAT WE CAN DEVELOP A SUSTAINABLE LITERACY ASSESSMENT SO THAT WHEN STUDENTS COME IN WE TEST THE LITERACY AND WHEN THEY LEAVE, WE TEST IT AGAIN AND WE CAN SHOW WHETHER THEY'VE BEEN SUCCESSFUL OR NOT.

THE NEXT THING WE'RE DOING, WORKING WITH OUR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT SO THAT WE CAN LAUNCH A DIGITAL BADGE SYSTEM SO THAT EMPLOYEES WHO MASTER VARIOUS CONCEPTS AND SUSTAINABILITY CAN PUT THAT ON LINKEDIN AND SHARE THEIR EXPERTISE WITH OTHERS.

THE OPERATION'S AREA, WE HAVE TWO KEY TARGET AUDIENCES AND THOSE ARE PROCUREMENT AND FACILITIES AND IN FACILITIES, WE WORK VERY CLOSELY WITH THE ENERGY MANAGER WHOSE NAME IS GARRETT ROSSER AND THE FACILITY'S SUSTAINABILITY COORDINATOR AND HIS NAME IS TED SPRADLEY.

TO INSTITUTIONALIZE STABILITY BECAUSE IT'S BIG AND BROAD.

WE'RE WORKING WITH SEVERAL, BECAUSE WE'RE WORKING WITH GUIDELINES IS THAT ALL EMPLOYEES IN DALLAS COLLEGE ARE WORKING TOGETHER TO HELP US ACHIEVE THESE GOALS BECAUSE SUSTAINABILITY IS NOT SOMETHING THAT ONE DEPARTMENT CAN DO.

[00:10:09]

SUSTAINABILITY HAS TO BE ACHIEVED BY ALL OF US WORKING TOGETHER.

SO IN PROVIDING ACCESS TO SUSTAINABILITY EDUCATION, WE HAVE INTERNAL AND STUDENTS, FACULTY AND THERE'S EXTERNAL AND FOR INTERNAL, WE HAVE BEEN USING A BOOK CALLED REFRAMING THE CURRICULUM DESIGNED FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE BY SUSAN SANTONE AND WE PROVIDED TRAINING TO THREE COHORTS SO FAR AND AS YOU CAN SEE BY THE SLIDE, WE HAVE DONE A TOTAL OF 54 EVENTS FOR EXCESS OF 600 EMPLOYEES THIS YEAR SO FAR.

AND MOVING ONTO EXTERNAL, AS YOU KNOW, WE DO WEEKLY SUSTAINABLE YOU WEBINARS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS WELL AS INTERNAL AUDIENCES FROM FEBRUARY THROUGH JULY AND FROM SEPTEMBER THROUGH DECEMBER AND THAT ROUGHLY CORRESPONDS WITH OUR SEMESTERS AND SOME OF OUR TOPICS WERE PLANNING AND PLANTING YOUR SPRING GARDENS, AT THE INTERSECTION AND IMPLICIT BIASED AND SUSTAINABILITIES AND THERE WAS A CAREER SYMPOSIUM AND THEN THE ONE WITH THE MOST PEOPLE REGISTERED FOR IT, 118, WAS TRAIL AND BIKEWAY NETWORK IN NORTH TEXAS AND THAT AS A VERY POPULAR ONE.

WE ALSO HAD EIGHT EXTERNAL EVENTS THAT WERE FOR THE COMMUNITY ONLY.

THOSE INCLUDED THINGS LIKE URBAN SUSTAINABILITY AND THAT WAS TAUGHT FOR MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT LEADERS ACROSS THE UNITED STATES.

THERE WAS A VERMAÂ COMPOSTING SESSION WITH WORMS AND CLIMATE INTERACTIVE AND THAT WAS GIVEN TO A SUSTAINABILITY URBAN PLANNING CLASS.

>> COMPOSTING WITH WORMS?

>> YES, AND EVERYBODY WHO DOES IT LOVES IT.

AND THEN ONTO OUR NEXT SLIDE, WE'RE STILL TALKING ABOUT SUSTAINABILITY EDUCATION AND THESE INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS WERE CREATED BY OUR ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF SUSTAINABILITY EDUCATION, LAURIE DELACRUZLEWIS USING MAPPING SOFTWARE AND THESE HUBS, YOU NOTICE WE ARE EDUCATION HUBS, STORING MAPS AND THEY HAVE MULTIPLE PAGES AND A STORY MAP HAS ONE LONG PAGE AND A WEB APP IS AN INTERACTIVE TOOL TO TYPE IN A PIECE OF INFORMATION AND GET THAT BACK.

SO AGAIN, INTERACTIVE, ACCESSIBLE TOOLS THAT PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR INDEPTH EXPLORATION AND VISUALIZATION OF SUSTAINABILITY TOPICS AND THAT'S REALLY IMPORTANT AND THESE HAVE BEEN REALLY, REALLY SUCCESSFUL.

SO AS YOU CAN SEE, WE'VE HAD OVER 19,000 VISITS TO THE EDUCATION HUBS, OVER EIGHT THOUSAND TO THE STORY MAPS.

YES, MA'AM?

>> IT TALKS ABOUT BEING PUBLISHED.

>> THERE'S A WEB LINK THAT LAURIE SHARES WITH THE PEOPLE IN HER CLASSES.

AND SO, SOME OF THE MORE POPULAR TITLESES THAT WE HAVE ARE THE DALLAS COLLEGE RACE TO ZERO WASTE HUB, WHICH HAS HAD OVER 3200 VIEWS, A CITIZEN SCIENCE FOR EVERYONE'S STORY MAP OVER 500 VIEWS AND DIGITAL DIVIDE APP WHICH HAS OVER 200 VIEWS SO FAR.

AND RIGHT NOW, I THINK THE QUESTION YOU WERE ASKING ME, THESE ARE INTERNAL ONLY RIGHT NOW FOR ONLY INTERNAL AUDIENCES, BUT WE'RE HOPING TO MAKE THOSE AVAILABLE TO EXTERNAL, AS WELL.

>> I WAS LOOKING AT YOUR PRESENTATION AND WHAT FOUNDING OUTSIDE OF YOUR BUDGET, WHAT TYPE OF FUNDS ARE MADE AVAILABLE TO ASSESSÂ (AUDIO FADING).

>> THAT'S A GRADE QUESTION AND WE HAVE BEEN WORKING VERY CLOSELY WITH THE GRANT OFFICE TO PURSUE GRANT OPPORTUNITIES FOR THINGS THAT MEET WHAT THE PROJECTS THAT WE'RE TRYING TO SUPPORT AND SO, NOW THAT WE ARE ONE COLLEGE INSTEAD OF EVERYBODY JUST GOING OUT AND, YOU KNOW, APPLYING FOR SOMETHING KIND OF IN A VACUUM, WE WORK WITH THE GRANT OFFICE SO THAT EVERYONE IN THE COLLEGE IS AWARE AND KNOWS AND SIGNS OFF ON THE APPLICATIONS THAT WE'RE APPLYING FOR.

>> BECAUSE, ALSO, COLLECTIVELY, WE PROVIDE A MASS THAT IS SIGNIFICANT AND THEY'RE LOOKING AT FUNDING ANY TYPE OF PROJECTS BECAUSE WE PROVIDEÂ (AUDIO FADING).

>> LAST YEAR, WE WERE APPROACHED BY THE CITY OF DALLAS TO WORK ON ONE GRANT OPPORTUNITY WITH THEM AND THAT, I CAN'T EVEN REMEMBER THAT EXACTLY, WHY THAT WENT AWAY AND WE'RE OPEN TO THAT.

>> ONTO THE SUSTAINABILITY OUTREACH AND ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM, IN THIS AREA, AGAIN, WE HAVE TWO MAIN TARGET AUDIENCES, INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL AND IN THIS INSTANCE, INTERNAL ARE THE STUDENTS, FACILITY MEMBERS AND EXTERNAL IS LOCAL, STATE AND NATIONAL AUDIENCES.

AND THE PROCESS OWNERS FOR THESE AUDIENCES ARE THE OFFICE OF STUDENT LIFE AND, OF COURSE, OUR OFFICE SUSTAINABILITIES OFFICE AND SO OUR OPPORTUNITIES ARE TO SHARE THESE LOW OR NOCOST SUSTAINABILITY EDUCATION AND INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS WITH THEM.

AND ONE OF THE THINGS WE WANT TO DO IN THE FUTURE IS USE SALES FORCE WHEN IT'S COMPLETELY IMPLEMENTED SO THAT WE CAN EXTEND OUR REACH TO THE EXTERNAL COMMUNITY.

ONE OF OUR VERY, VERY POPULAR PROGRAMS IS THE DIALOGUES AND WE DID THAT IN COLLABORATION WITH THE INCLUSION OFFICE AND WE STARTED OUT BY TRAINING 20 FACILITATORS IN JUNE AND THEN WE INTRODUCED THIS CONCEPT AT CONFERENCE DAY IN AUGUST AND THEN JUST LAST WEEK, WE HAD AN EXPERIENCE REFLECTIVE DIALOGUE'S WORKSHOP ON OCTOBERÂ 1STÂ AND IT WAS VERY SUCCESSFUL AND ONE OF THE REVIEWS WE GOT BACK WAS THAT THIS WAS THE BEST PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT THIS WOMAN HAD ATTENDED IN MANY YEARS AND SHE REALLY LIKED IT.

SO DIALOGUE WORK HELPS US REBUILD THE COMPLEXITY OF PEOPLE.

[00:15:07]

SO IT'S DESIGNED TO ENHANCE CURIOSITY, NEUTRAL UNDERSTANDING AND RESPECT.

IT'S NOT ABOUT DEBATE OR PROBLEM SOLVING AND THE IDEA IS IF WE CAN REALLY COMMUNICATE WITH ONE ANOTHER AND LISTEN RESPECTFULLY, WE WILL FIND COMMON VALUES THAT WE'LL BE ABLE TO RELATE ON AND THEN WHAT HAPPENS IS, AS A MATTER OF THAT HAPPENING, THEN IT BECOMES EASIER TO SOLVE PROBLEMS AND THIS DIALOGUE PROCESS, IT'S NOT TO SOLVE PROBLEMS OR HAVE A DEBATE.

IT IS DESIGNED TO ENHANCE COMMUNICATION, LISTENING AND HELP US FIND OUR COMMON VALUES AND ONE OF THE THINGS THEY ALWAYS SAY I LOVE IS THAT COMPLAINT IS A GIFT BECAUSE BEHIND EVERY COMPLAINT IS A HOPE.

WHEN I REALIZE WHENEVER THEY'RE COMPLAINING ABOUT, IF I CAN TURN IT AROUND IF MY MIND AND FIGURE OUT WHAT IS THE HOPE AND WHAT IS IT THEY WANT, WE CAN FOCUS ON THE SOLUTION IN GETTING THEM WHAT THEY WANT.

SO UPCOMING EVENTS TO MARK ON YOUR CALENDAR AND JOIN US IF YOU CAN, WE'LL HAVE OUR 11THÂ ANNUAL SUSTAINABILITY SUBMIT, FRIDAY NOVEMBERÂ 5THÂ AND THE THEME THIS YEAR IS SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY, CULTIVATING CIVIC AND WE'RE FOCUSING ON THE POSITIVE AND WHAT WE CAN DO.

THE NEXT EVENT THAT FOLLOWS ON MONDAY AND TUESDAY IS THE TEXAS REGIONAL ALLIANCE FOR CAMPUS SUSTAINABILITY TRACK'S SUMMIT.

AND IT'S FREE AND OPEN TO ANYONE IN TEXAS.

I KNOW YOU'LL WANT TO JOIN US.

>> IS THAT INTERNAL ONLY?

>> IT'S OPEN TO EXTERNALLAL.

WE'VE HAD A THIRD EMPLOYEES, AND WE WERE LIMITED BY THE SIZE OF OUR AUDITORIUMS AND WE GENERALLY HAVE 400 PEOPLE A YEAR AND IN YEAR, SINCE IT'S ONLINE AND FREE, THAT WE CAN HAVE 500, YOU KNOW, UP TO A THOUSAND.

SO CONNECTING WITH AUDIENCES, WE DO THAT THROUGH SPONSORSHIPS, PARTNERSHIPS RELATIONSHIPS AND WE'VE BEEN A COMMUNITY SPONSOR WITH NATURAL AWAKENINGS AND THE BRAND NEW DFW ON THE AIR, A MONTHLY WEBINAR AND WE HAVE HOSTED A WANTENER AND CREATED A WANT APP CALLED FEMALE ECOWARRIORS FOR WOMEN IN THE ENVIRONMENT.

THAT'S ANOTHER ASSOCIATION FOR WOMEN IN THE ENVIRONMENT AND WE'RE HOSTING ANOTHER EVENT FOR THEM ON OCTOBERÂ 28THÂ AT BROOKHAVEN AND THEN, FINALLY, WE ARE A SPONSOR FOR THE SOLO TOUR PUT ON BY THE NORTH TEXAS RENEWABLE ENERGY GROUP AND THAT HAPPENED JUST THIS PAST SATURDAY AND GARRETTÂ ROSSER AND I PRESENTED AT THAT EVENT BECAUSE THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE INPERSON, BECAUSE, AGAIN, OF COVID, IT WAS ONLINE AND WE PRESENTED ONLINE ON SATURDAY.

>> WE'RE LOOKING FOR PARTNERS BECAUSE OF ENVIRONMENT.

>> ABSOLUTELY.

AND CERTAINLY, THE ENVIRONMENT, BUT WHAT WE ALWAYS TALK ABOUT IS THE SUSTAINABILITY IS LIKE A THREELEGGED STOOL, SUSTAINABILITY ADDRESSES EQUITY, THE PEOPLE, THE ECONOMY AND THE ENVIRONMENT AND PLAN TEST, BUT YES.

AND SO, OUR NEXT SLIDE IS COMMUNICATING WITH OUR AUDIENCES AND IN ADDITION TO THE INTERNAL COMMUNICATION WE DO, WE ALSO PUBLISH A MONTHLY SUSTAINABLE DALLAS NEWSLETTER AND THERE ARE OVER 3700 SUBSCRIBERS SO FAR AND OPEN RATE OF 25%, WHICH IS GOOD FOR THIS KIND OF NEWSLETTER.

AS WE MENTIONED, WE CREATED 54 ONLINE SUSTAINABILITY INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES WHICH HAVE HAD BY NOW OVER 30,000 VIEWS.

SO OUR LAST GOAL, MEASURING OUR SUPPORT OF LOCAL AND GLOBAL GOALS AND WE MENTIONED ASHI STARS AND THE ACTION MANAGER AND THIS IS A NEW REPORT THAT WAS DONE FOR US JUST IN PAST SUMMER.

WE HAD A CLIMATE CORE FELLOW FROM YALE, HER NAME IS CELIAÂ RISTO, THE FUND'S CLIMATE CORE PROGRAM AND SHE DID A REPORT FOR US ON HOW TO REDUCE OR SCOPE THREE

[00:20:01]

EMISSIONS AND WHAT IS THAT? ALL OF THE INDIRECT EMISSIONS.

IT'S EMPLOYEE AND STUDENT COMMUTING, PURCHASE GOODS AND SERVICES LIKE FOOD AND PAPER AND SUPPLIES AND INVESTMENTS IN LEASE ASSETS.

THE REASON WE'RE INTERESTED THAT IS BECAUSE THOSE ARE THE LARGEST EMISSIONS AND IN ORDER FOR US TO ULTIMATELY ACHIEVE OUR CARBON NEUTRALLY GOAL BY 2050, WE HAVE TO GET A HANDLE ON THIS.

JUST LIKE WITH SUPPLIER DIVERSITY, WE TRY TO INFLUENCE OUR VENDOR'S DIVERSITY EFFORTS AND TRYING TO INFLUENCE THE SUSTAINABILITY EFFORTS.

AND THEN, I SPOKE ABOUT THIS EDUCATION HUB A FEW SLIDES BACK AND I'M PROUD TO ANNOUNCE, WE RECEIVED THE EDUCATION AND AWARENESS AWARD FROM THE CAMPUSÂ THIS IS HARD TO SAY, CAMPUS RACE TO ZERO WASTE COMPETITION FOR THIS HUB.

THIS ORGANIZATION IS FORMALLY KNOWN AS RECYCLE MANIA WHICH IS EASIER FOR ME TO SAY.

AND YOU MIGHT REMEMBER RECYCLE MANIA BECAUSE WE HAD SEVERAL OF OUR COLLEGES HAVE WON BIG, BIG AWARDS, RICHLAND AND NORTH LAKE BOTH HAVE WON MAJOR AWARDS FROM THIS ORGANIZATION.

AND SO MANY THANKS AGAIN TO LAURIE AND BRANDON WHO WERE INSTRUMENTAL ON PUTTING THIS TOGETHER.

>> ANY QUESTIONS?

>> THIS CREATING A WHOLE SERIES OF CONSEQUENCES FOR AIR ENTERPRISE LIKE CLASS COLLEGE AND I'M WONDERING HOW THAT WAS SET AND HAVE WE FULLY ASSESSED THE IMPACT?

>> SO, AGAIN, IT'S TIED TO THE 17 SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS AND TIED TO THE PRESIDENT'S CLIMATE COMMITMENT, WHICH WAS SIGNED BY SIX OF THE SEVEN PRESIDENTS BEFORE WE TURNED INTO DALLAS COLLEGE AND SO WE KNOW AND UNDERSTAND THAT WE NEED TO BRING YOU BACK A FULL REPORTING ON WHAT THIS WOULD LOOK LIKE AND WHAT IT WOULD TAKE TO GET THERE.

AND SO WE ACTUALLY HAD BEEN WORKING ON A RESILIENCE AND CLIMATE ACTION PLAN AND SO WE'RE STARTING THIS YEAR, DOING A LOT OF STAKEHOLDER GROUPS BECAUSE WE'LL HAVE TO WORK WITH FACILITIES AND WORK WITH EVERYONE ACROSS DALLAS COLLEGE, GET EVERYBODY'S INPUT AND FEEDBACK AND DETERMINE WHAT ARE THE NEXT STEPS TO TAKE AND SET OUR OWN GOALS.

2050 IS THE GOAL THAT HAS BEEN SET BY ALL OF THE INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS BECAUSE THEIR BELIEF IS WE HAVE A SMALL WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY TO TURN THIS AROUND BETWEEN NOW AND 2030 AND SO, WE'VE GOT TO ACT QUICKLY AND SO 2050 IS THE MAXIMUM DATE THAT WE HAVE IN ORDER TO REACH CLIMATE NEUTRALITY TO AVOID THE WORST EFFECTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE.

AND AGAIN, CLIMATE CHANGE CAUSESÂ EXACERBATES WEATHER OCCURRENCES.

SO, FOR INSTANCE, THIS PAST FEBRUARY, WE EXPERIENCED THE HORRIFIC SNOW AND FREEZE EVENTS AND THAT COST DALLAS COLLEGEÂ I HAVE TO IDEA HOW MUCH MONEY, BUT I WAS TALKING TO A COLLEGE FROM AÂ &Â M AND COSTS THEM MILLIONS AND MILLIONS OF DOLLARS DEALING WITH THE AFTEREFFECT OF WEATHER EVENTS.

>> SO THE STORM IS CONSIDERED CLIMATE CHANGE?

>> CLIMATE CHANGE RELATED, YES.

>> BUT IT HAPPENED A HUNDRED YEARS AGO, SO WHAT WAS THE CLIMATE THEN IN.

[00:25:15]

>> NO, NO, THE STORM IN FEBRUARY.

>> RIGHT, WE GET ABOUT ONE OF THOSE EVERY ONE HUNDRED YEARS, THAT'S HISTORY.

>> THIS IS TRUE, THIS IS TRUE, SO FOR INSTANCE, IN HOUSTON, HOUSTON, THEY CALLED HURRICANE HARVEY A 500 YEAR FLOOD, BUT HOUSTON HAS HAD THREE CONSISTENT YEARS.

AND MY SON IS AN ENGINEER AND HE'S WORKING TO UPDATE THE FLOOD MAPS.

>> CONCRETE DOESN'T ABSORB WATER.

>> THAT'S TRUE.

>> IF I MAY.

I INTEND TO AGREE WITH THE PREMISE WITH THE THINGS NEED TO BE DONE.

DIFFERENT POINTS OF VIEW.

I AM GLAD THAT INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS AND NGO'S AND WE GOVERN COLLEGE AND I HAVE CONCERNS ABOUT US SIGNING UP FOR GOAL THAT PROFOUND WITHOUT ANY DISCUSSION AT THE BOARD LEVEL ABOUT WHAT DOES IT MEAN? AND HOW WILL IT AFFECT OUR OPERATIONS AND WHAT'S OUR ROLE AND ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THAT? SOME OF THE KEY STAKEHOLDERS, LIKE THE PROCUREMENT ORGANIZATION AND THE FACILITY'S ORGANIZATION.

IF WE COMMIT AS AN ENTERPRISE, THEY WON'T BE AUDIENCES.

THEY WILL BE NEED TO BE LEADERS OF THIS TYPE OF THING AND IF WE'RE GOING TO BE EMBEDDING SUSTAINABILITY EDUCATION INTO EACH AND EVERY SINGLE COURSE IN DALLAS COLLEGE, HAS THE FACULTY EMBRACED AND DISCUSSED HOW TO DO THAT ACROSS THE WIDE VARIETY OF DISCIPLINES THAT WE TEACH HERE? MAYBE THE ANSWER IS YES, AND MAYBE I'M TRYING TO UNDERSTAND HOW ORGANIZATIONALLY, WHAT IT IS YOU'RE SEEKING TO DO.

THE GRAIN OF SAND IF AN OYSTER.

YOU'RE TRYING TO RAISE VISIBILITY SO GOOD THINGS WILL ARISE.

BUT I'M A LITTLE RELUCTANT TO EMBRACE GOALS WITHOUT A BOARD DISCUSSION SIMPLY BECAUSE IT'S DONE, YOU KNOW, ELSEWHERE, WHEN WE HAVEN'T FULLY THOUGHT THROUGH THE IMPACT ON OUR OPERATION AND HOW WE'LL HOLD OURSELVES ACCOUNTABLE.

>> GROUNDWORK, THIS IS A GOAL, OUR GOALS ARE NOT SET IN CONCRETE, BUT YOU'RE LAYING GROUNDWORK, GET STAKEHOLDERS AND I IMAGINE HAVING A DISCUSSION AT THE BOARD LEVEL WITH RECOMMENDATIONS SO THEN IT CAN BE FULLY VETTED AND DISCUSSED AND VETTED UPON BY THE BOARD, BUT IT IS AN ASPIRATION AS A GOAL, BUT NOT TOTALLY SET IN CONCRETE.

>> YES, YES, MA'AM, THANK YOU.

EXACTLY.

I MENTIONED THE CLIMATE RESILIENCE AND ACTION PLAN AND THAT IS ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF DEVELOPING SO THAT WE CAN HAVE ALL OF THE ANSWERS THAT YOU HAD ASKED FOR AND SO THAT WE WORK WITH ALL OF THE STAKEHOLDERS AND SO, WHEN I SAY AUDIENCES, WHAT WEÂ WE STRUGGLED WITH THE TERMS WE USE.

WE CALL IN THE PROCESS OWNER, BECAUSE YES, I SAY WE'RE A CATALYST AND A CHANGE AGENT IN THE ORGANIZATION AND WE ARE THAT PIECE OF DIRT IN THE PEARL, YOU KNOW, THAT MAKES IT, IN THE OYSTER THAT MAKES A PEARL.

>> THE A GOAL MAY BE APPROPRIATE, BUT WE HAVEN'T APPROVED ANY GOALS.

I THINK THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT, IS THATÂ IT'S A GOAL, BUT NOT OUR GOAL.

>> DON'T TAKE MY COMMENTS AS NOT SUPPORTIVE OF DALLAS COLLEGE, AND IF A GOAL LIKE THAT IS WHAT YOU TAKES TO GALVANIZE, WE NEED TO WORK BACKWARDS, INTO PROCUREMENT AND WE'RE STARTING TO UNDERSTAND, OK, HOW ARE THEY BOUGHT IN? IT'S ONE THING TO LEAD WHEN PEOPLE HAVE TO LEAD.

BUT ARTICULATION OF STAKEHOLDERS BUYING IN AND ESSENTIAL FOR ACHIEVING THE RESULT.

>> OUR PROCESS NOW FOR USING THE B2 AND ROLLING THE GOALS UP, WE'RE AIMED AT THE BOARD'SÂ WE DON'T CALL IT GOALS BUT STRATEGIC PRIORITIES THAT ARE THERE AND SO THIS WOULD FALL UNDER ONE OF THOSE PRIORITIES AS EXISTS TODAY.

WHAT WE'RE ASKING EVERYONE TO DO TOWARD OUR ULTIMATE GOALS THAT ARE OUT THERE AND THAT IS SOMETHING THAT IS ACROSS THE ORGANIZATIONS.

[00:30:02]

WE'RE NOW A SINGLE INSTITUTION.

>> TO ANSWER ONE OF THE STATEMENTS THAT YOU MADE, WE HAVE BEEN DOING FOR TWO, THREE YEARS, WE HAVE BEEN DOING ALL KINDS OF INTERNAL TRAINING WITH THE FACILITIES, WITH PROCUREMENT AND SO, FOR INSTANCE, JUST LAST WEEK, WE HAD PAUL WESTBURG WHO CREATED THE FIRST LEAD GOLD CHIP FACTORY IN THE WORLD AND HE DID A NET ZERO ENERGY BUILDING WEBINAR FOR US AND SO WE'VE BEEN DOING THESE EDUCATIONAL THINGS SO THAT PEOPLE COULD KNOW AND UNDERSTAND THAT ARE A LOT OF ORGANIZATIONS OUT THERE WHO HAVE COMMITTED TO THESE GOALS AND ABLE TO IMPLEMENT THEM WITHOUT COSTING ANYMORE IF YOU HAVE THE RIGHT GOALS, IF YOU HAVE AN ENERGY UTILIZATION INDEX OF 20 OR BELOW, YOU CAN GET FAIRLY EASILY TO NET ZERO ENERGY ON BUILDINGS.

SO WE HAVE WORKING TO EDUCATE, SO THANK YOU.

>> THANK YOU.

>> IF I MAY, YOU SAID THE STUDENTS WOULD BE TESTED AT THE BEGINNING AND THEN TESTED AGAIN, WAS YOUR TERM.

SO ARE THEY GOING TO BE PAYING FOR THESE CLASSES TO BE TESTED? THE CLASSES THAT YOU MENTIONED?

>> NO, NO, SO IT'S JUST A PREAND A POST TEST.

IT'S LIKE WHEN YOU COME INTO A CLASS, A FACULTY MEMBER WOULD ASSESS YOUR KNOWLEDGE ON A PARTICULAR SUBJECT BEFORE YOU STARTED AND AGAIN AT THE END OF THE CLASS TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANY MOVEMENT AND IF YOU DID LEARN MORE AND JUST A WAY FOR US TO BE ACCOUNTABLE AND MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE DOING A GOOD JOB OF EDUCATING OUR STUDENTS.

SO IT WOULD NOT HAPPEN IN EACH CLASS.

IT WOULD HAPPEN WITH SURVEYS THAT GO OUT.

>> SO IT WOULD BE A TOPIC IN EVERY CLASS?

>> I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND THE IDEA.

I KNOW OUR STUDENTS ARE HERE FOR A SHORT POSSIBLE TIME BECAUSE THEY'VE GOT A LIFE TO GET BACK TO AND IT SEEMS TO ME THAT IF THEY'RE GOING TO BE REQUIRED TO BE

TESTEDÂ >> SO, AGAIN, IT'S JUST AN ASSESSMENT AND SO QUICKLY, IF I CAN JUST SAY WITH THE 17 SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS, THE REASON WE CHOOSE THIS IS A TEACHING AND LEARNING TOOL, IS BECAUSE IF YOU LOOK AT THESE THINGS, MOST PEOPLE LOOK AT THESE AND AGREE, YEAH, THAT'S A GOOD THING.

I WANT NO POVERTY, ZERO HUNGER AND WELLBEING.

THESE 17 GOALS, WHAT WE WORK WITH FACULTY TO SAY IS THERE'S SOMETHING IN YOUR CLASS SOMEWHERE THAT PROBABLY ADDRESSES ONE OF THESE GOALS AND VERY OFTEN YOU CAN ADDRESS MULTIPLE OF THESE GOALS IN YOUR CLASS AND THAT'S WHAT WE TEACH THEM TO DO.

WE DON'T TEACH THEM TO ADD ANYTHING ELSE.

WE TEACH THEM TO SHARE THE SUSTAINABLE 17 GOALS AND TEACH THEM HOW THEIR CLASS IS ADDRESSING.

>> BECAUSE THEY'LL BE TESTED AT END OF THE SEMESTER.

>> NOT A SPECIFIC SUSTAINABILITY TEST, BUT A TEST THAT THE FACULTY CHOOSES TO GIVE.

>> ARE YOU TALKING POSSIBLY IN TERMS OF PREOR POSTTESTS, MAYBE A WEBINAR THAT STUDENTS CHOSE ABOUT X AND THEY WANTED TO KNOW AND ONCE THEY HEARD THE PRESENTATION AND HOW MUCH THEY ABSORBED?

>> YES.

>> SO NOT NECESSARILY TO A CLASS PER SEMESTER OR WEEK BUT AN EVENT, AN EDUCATIONAL

[00:35:05]

EVENT?

>> YES.

>> ANY A QUESTIONS?

>> SO WE'LL COME BACK TO SUSTAINABILITY WITH MORE WORK THAT YOU ALL HAVE DONE IN TERMS OF THE STAKEHOLDER INVOLVEMENT AND THE GOAL FOR THE BOARD AND IMPLICATIONS TO ASK OR NOT.

>> THANK YOU.

>> IN TERMS OF DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION, OUR FOCUS WILL BE PRESENTED TODAY BY MYSELF AND CHIEF OFFICER FOR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND INCLUSION.

TO BEGIN, WE PROVIDE EQUAL OPPORTUNITIESES IN ORDER TO HAVE AN INCLUSIVE ENVIRONMENT AND WE DO THIS IN ALIGNMENT WITH THE STRATEGIC PRIORITIES.

(AUDIO FADING).

>> WE HAVE BEEN FOCUS ON THE INTERNAL DIMENSIONS OF DIVERSITY AND DEI IS VERY PERSONAL TO PEOPLE AND BEFORE WE CAN FULLY UNDERSTAND THE EXTERNAL OR PEOPLE MUST UNDERSTAND WHERE THEIR INTERNAL DIMENSIONS ARE IN ORDER TO USE THE DIVERSE AND FILTERS TO HAVE EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION WITH OTHERS.

BUT WHO IS THE DIVERSE POPULATION THAT WE SERVE? AND WE'LL START WITH THE DALLAS COUNTY DEMOGRAPHICS, IN TERMS OF ETHNICITY OUR TOP THREE GROUPS ARE HISPANIC, THE BLACK AFRICANAMERICAN AND THE WHITE NONDIVERSE POPULATION.

AND IN TERMS OF GENDER, WE HAVE A CLOSE MATCH BETWEEN MALES AND FEMALE AND GENERATION, WE FIND THAT WE SERVE OUR YOUNG POPULATION.

>> IF YOU WOULD LIKE MORE TIME TO VIEW THIS ONLINEÂ >> YOU CAN GO BACK TO IT.

>> IS THIS SHOWING ON YOURS?

>> PAGE 22.

>> IT'S NOT ON YOURS.

>> IT'S STUDENT DEMOGRAPHICS.

>> I DID THE SAME THING.

[00:40:05]

>> THERE'S NO PROBLEM OUR CHAIR CAN'T SOLVE.

>> WONDERFUL!

>> NOW WE'VE MOVE ONTO THIS STUDENT DEMOGRAPHICS AND IN TERMS OF ETHNICITIES OR OUR TOP THREE ARE THE HISPANIC, THE BLACK AFRICANAMERICAN AND THE WHITE NONDIVERSE AND AGAIN, REFLECTING OUR DALLAS COUNTY DEMOGRAPHICS AND GENDER, MORE FEMALE THAN MALES.

WE ALIGN WITH THE DALLAS COUNTY POPULATION AND THEN WE MOVE ONTO OUR EMPLOYEE DEMOGRAPHICS.

IN TERMS OF ETHNICITY, REPRESENTATION VARIES FROM THAT OF DALLAS COUNTY AND OUR STUDENT POPULATION IN THAT THE LARGEST POPULATION IS THE WHITE NONDIVERSE FOLLOWED BY THE BLACK AFRICANAMERICAN AND THEN HISPANICS.

REPRESENTATION IS CLOSELY ALIGNED WITH OUR STUDENT POPULATION.

HOWEVER, IN TERMS OF GENERATION, REPRESENTATION CLEARLY REFLECTS THE LEVEL OF EXPERIENCE OF OUR EMPLOYEES.

OUR GOALS ARE BENCHMARKED AGAINST CUPAHRDA MATURITY INDEX TO MAKE SURE WE TAKE MEANINGFUL STEPS TO INCLUDE STAFF AND FACULTY IN OURESTS AND CUPA IS THE ASSOCIATION FOR HR HIGHER ED PROFESSIONALS.

OUR NEXT STEPS INCLUDE TRACKING AND BUILDING SUCCESS WITH THE FOLLOWING ACTIONS, HIGHER KEY POSITIONS IN THE BEGINNING IN OUR SLIDES WHERE WE SAW THE ORGANIZATIONAL CHART AND CREATING A TIMELINE FOR APPLYING ACTIONS LISTED HERE AND THEN TO THE RIGHT OF THE SLIDE, TAKE OR BASELINE TO MEASURE OUR PROGRESS.

[00:47:16]

NOW TO HIGHLIGHT SOME OF OUR DEI EFFORTS SINCE WE LAST MET, FIRST, I WOULD LIKE TO MENTION A COLLABORATION PRESENTED TO US BY TRUSTEE FLOYD WHERE WE HAVE THREE WEBX PANELS DISCUSSION THE TOPICS HERE LISTED AND OUR IMPACT, 120 ATTENDEES ONLINE AND THIS WAS PLACED ON THE WEBSITE.

AND OTHER HIGHLIGHTS ARE HONORING CULTURE THROUGH RELEVANCE AND YOU SEE JUNETEENTH AND YOU SEE HERITAGE MONTH, CULTURAL CELEBRATIONS AND A LISTING OF SOME OF THE ACTIVITIES THROUGHOUT THE COLLEGE WITH DIFFERENT MEMBERS OF STAFF, STUDENTS AND COMMUNITY.

NEXT WE SEE HONORING HERITAGE BUT PROVIDING HERITAGE MONTH ARTICLES WHERE WE GIVE AN INTRODUCTION OF CULTURE, THE SPECIFIC EVENT OR SPECIAL DAY THAT IT IS CELEBRATED BY THAT CULTURE AND GIVING A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY AND HOW IT HAS CHANGED IN ANY WAY.

AND SOME OF THOSE WAYS THAT WE CELEBRATE, WE INCLUDE OUR EMPLOYEE RESOURCE MOVES WHICH ARE A BIG PART.

OUR LAST HIGHLIGHT INCLUDES THE UPCOMING EVENTS, THE ERG ALLIANCE SYMPOSIUM AND WE'LL BE HOLDING THAT AT NORTH LAKE AND IN THAT PARTICULAR EVENT, WE HAVE THE LEADERS IN A SYMPOSIUM WITH ERG LEADERS FROM ORGANIZATIONS NATIONWIDE TO INCREASE THEIR KNOWLEDGE ABOUT HOW TO RUN AN ERG AND HOW TO BRING IT BACK HOME TO THE COLLEGE.

[00:50:03]

OUR SECOND EVENT, THE DECEMBERÂ 10THÂ CALLED MAN CODE AND IT IS A SPECIFIC COLLABORATION THAT WE ARE DOING WITH MICROSOFT AND IN EVENT WILL BE HELD AT THE EAST FIELD CAMPUS AND WE WILL BE INTRODUCING MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT BOYS.

AS WE CONTINUE TO GROW OUR TEAM, WE ANTICIPATE THAT WE WILL BUILD ON THE MOMENTUM CREATED THUS FAR.

THANK YOU.

>> THAT WOULD BE TOUGH IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC.

>> I BELIEVE INSTEAD OF HURTING US, IT HELPED US.

>> ANY QUESTIONS ON THIS PART?

>> YOU MENTIONED THE ERG LEADERSHIP ALLIANCE AND IS THAT A NEW ORGANIZATION AND HOW DOES THAT OPERATE?

>> SURE, IT IS THE NATIONAL ORGANIZATION FOR ERG'S THAT WAS CREATED OUT OF THE NEED TO DEVELOP ERG'S AND WE HAVE ERG'S EVERYWHERE, IN MANY ORGANIZES, IN DIFFERENT INDUSTRIES AND WHEN THE INDUSTRIES COME TOGETHER TO DISCUSS HOW THEY'RE DOING THE EFFORTS AND LEARN FROM ONE ANOTHER, THEY CAN FIND WAYS THEY CAN GROW THE ERG'S BECAUSE MAYBE WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE, I DON'T KNOW, IN THE HOSPITAL OR HEALTHCARE INDUSTRY OR TRAVEL INDUSTRY, ONE THING FROM EACH OF THOSE INDUSTRIES CAN BE APPLIED TO WHAT WE'RE DOING HERE AT THE COLLEGE, SO IT'S A SHARING SPACE LOCATION AND MAKING SURE THAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT THE DIFFERENT CULTURES BECAUSE WE HAVE PEOPLE COMING FROM DIFFERENT NATIONS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY IN DIFFERENT STATES.

WHEN WE SHARE OUR EXPOSURE AND OUR EXPERIENCE WITH THOSE CULTURES, THE ERG'S GROW BECAUSE THEY'RE ABLE TO PROVIDE THAT KNOWLEDGE BACK INTO THE COLLEGE SYSTEM OR THE ORGANIZATIONS PER SAY.

>> WE HAVE AN ERG LEADERSHIP COUNCIL WITHIN DALLAS COLLEGE OF ALL OFÂ ALL OF OUR ERG'S ARE REPRESENTED.

>> WE DO NOT HAVE ONE BODY FOR ALL OF THEM.

WE HAVE MET INDIVIDUALLY, BUT HAVE NOT MET AS A GROUP YET AND THE FIRST MEETING WILL BE AFTER THIS ERG ALLIANCE SYMPOSIUM WHERE WE HAVE SEEN WHAT IT'S LIKE TO BRING IT ALL TOGETHER AND BE ABLE TO PROVIDE IT TO THE ORGANIZATION AS A SYSTEM.

>> THANK YOU.

>> ANY OTHER QUESTIONS?

>> WE PROVIDE EQUAL ACCESS TO ALL PLAYERS TO THE BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE AT DALLAS COLLEGE AND SUPPORT AN ECONOMY IN DALLAS COUNTY.

WE REACH OUR GOALS WE NEED TO LAY OUT THE RIGHT FOUNDATION.

FOR THIS, WE WILL BE UPDATING OUR PROGRAM POLICY TO INCREASE DIVERSE CLASSIFICATIONS AND TO INCLUDE NOT OWN WOMEN, VETERANS, SMALL BUSINESSES, THIS ENTERPRISE, AND LBGTQ.

AND WE DEVELOP CONTRACT LOSSES THAT SUPPORT SUPPLIER DIVERSITY, SUCH AS REQUIRING THAT IN CONTRACT, FOR EXAMPLE, THAT RANGE FROM 10,000 TO 4999 WHERE YOU REQUIRE THREE BIDS, AT LEAST ONE IS FROM A DIVERSE SUPPLIER.

WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF PROCURING AN AVAILABLE STUDY TO IDENTIFY WHICH DIVERSE SUPPLIERS ARE BEING UNDERUTILIZED AND FINALLY, THROUGH A THIRDPARTY PROVIDER, INPUT AND OUTPUT, WE WILL ASSESS THE DIVERSITY OF OUR PRESENT SUPPLIERS.

WITH THIS, WE WILL BE ABLE TO DEVELOP AN INTEGRATED SYSTEM TO TRACK DIVERSE

[00:55:03]

SPENT.

AND THIS WILL HELP US ESTABLISH AN ACCURATE BASELINE, TRACK OUR DIVERSE SUPPLIERS COMMITMENTS AND ALSO CREATE A DATABASE OF QUALIFIED AND DIVERSE CERTIFIED SUPPLIERS.

THE PROCESS IN OUTCOMES, THE UNIVERSITY REQUIRES THE COLLABORATION THROUGHOUT THE COLLEGE AND WE WILL HOST SESSIONS INTERNALLY AND EXTERNALLY WITH THE PARTNERS SUCH AS GOLDMAN SACS AND ASSOCIATIONS AND TO INFORM SUPPLIERS OF THE AVAILABLE OPPORTUNITIES.

THESE MENTORING CERTIFICATIONS HELP TO STRENGTHEN RELATIONSHIPS WHALE WE CONTINUE TO DEVELOP OUR SUPPLIER DIVERSITY PROGRAM.

WE WILL ENCOURAGE CERTIFICATION TO OUR QUALIFIED SUPPLIERS AND WORK WITH OUR PARTNER AGENCIES TO PROVIDE THE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS TO GROW THEIR COMPANIES AND TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE PROSPECTS AVAILABLE AT DALLAS COLLEGE INCREASING THE NUMBER OF SUPPLIERS THAT PARTICIPATE IN THE OPPORTUNITIES.

>> ENCOURAGE OR REQUIRE CERTIFICATION?

>> WE WILL ASK THEM VERY NICELY.

IN A LARGE CONTRACT, IF YOU'RE NOT A DIVERSE SUPPLIER, CERTIFIED, YOU WILL NOT BE INVITED TO THOSE OPPORTUNITIES, SO I THINK IT'S A QUESTION OF REALLY EDUCATING PEOPLE TO THE ADVANTAGES THERE ARE WITH CERTIFICATION, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU'RE TRYING TO MEET GOALS IN TERMS OF SUPPLIER DIVERSITY.

>> DOES IT CREATE A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD? THE RULE OF THE GAME, BUT IT PROTECTS US FROM FRAUD, SO, I MEAN, THAT'S IMPORTANT, AS WELL, SO WE'RE GOING TO REQUIRE IT OR ENCOURAGE IT?

>> OR YOU'RE STILL THINKING ABOUT IT?

>> WELL, WE WILL ALWAYS HAVE NONCERTIFIED SUPPLIERS.

THAT DOESN'T MEAN WE GET TO COUNT THEM AS DIVERSE SUPPLIERS EVEN IF THEY ARE.

FOR THOSE THAT GET THE BENEFITS OF THAT, THEY WILL NEED TO PRODUCE THE EVIDENCE OF THAT, WHICH THE ONLY WAY IS THROUGH A CERTIFICATION PROCESS, BUT IT DOESN'T MANY THAT WE WILL EXCLUDE ANY SUPPLIER FROM BEING CONSIDERED IN THE PROCESS.

THEY JUST MAY NOT BE CONSIDERED AS A SUPPLIER.

>> THAT IS CORRECT WHAT YOU JUST SAID.

WE HAVE BEEN REQUIRING IT WHEN IT COMES TO UTILIZING THE NUMBERS.

IF THEY ARE DIVERSE, THEY CAN CERTAINLY DO BUSINESS BUT THEIR DOLLARS WILL BE A PART OF THE SUPPLIER DIVERSITY.

SO IF YOU LOOK AT THE GRAPHIC THAT IS RIGHT NOW SHOWING, YOU'LL SEE THE SUPPLIER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM AND YOU SEE ABOUT QUALIFIED, NOT CERTIFIED, AND YOU SEE THAT IN THE CORNER AND YOU HAVE THE SUPPLIER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM TO TRY TO ROUTE THEM TO THE CERTIFICATION PART SO THAT THEN WE CAN COUNT THOSE DOLLARS.

>> ONCE WE HAVE THEM, YOU'LL BE ABLE TO INVITE THEM IN THE PURCHASING OPPORTUNITIES, BECAUSE IT'S ABOUT TRAINING AND BRINGING THEM UP TO SPEED SO THEY CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE PURCHASING OPPORTUNITIES.

THE EXPECTED OUTCOMES ARE TO INCREASE THE CONTRACTS TO DIVERSE SUPPLIERS TO STRENGTHEN THE LOCAL ECONOMY AND ESTABLISH THE DOLLARS COLLEGE AS A LEADER IN PLAYER DIVERSITY.

OUR GOALS ARE IN ALIGNMENT OF ASSUREMENT OF ALIGNMENT FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS.

THIS IS CREATING INTERNAL PROCESSES AND RELATIONSHIPS AND STRENGTHENING OUR

[01:00:03]

EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS AND PARTICIPATING IN STRATEGIC OUTREACH AND ENHANCING OUR AWARENESS AND BEING ABLE TO REPORT OUR SUPPLIER DIVERSITY IMPACT.

IT MEASURES OUR EFFORTS WITH OUR CLASSIFICATION AND WE WILL TRACK ALL OF THE ACTIVITY IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS, HOSTING WORKSHOPS WHERE WE WILL EXPLAIN THE METRICS AND EXPANDED CLASSIFICATIONS AND WORKSHOPS ON HOW TO DO BUSINESS WITH DALLAS COLLEGE AND CREATING PARTNERSHIPS WITH LOCAL CHAMBERS, CONTRACTOR'S ASSOCIATIONS AND CERTIFYING AGENCIES.

>> IF I MAY, THE NEXT TWO SLIDES, BOARD MEMBERS CAN LOOK AT THAT AND GET THE INFORMATION OFF OF THAT, BECAUSE IT'S 328 AND IF YOU COULD GO TO 42, IF YOU ALL ARE OK WITH THAT.

SO SUCCESS STORIES AND HIGHLIGHT THEM QUICKLY.

>> MONICA BALEY JACKSON WAS A CONSTRUCTION MANAGER AND SHE MET SCOTT AT ONE OF THE SESSIONS AND KIND OF QUESTIONING HOW SHE WOULD GET INTO THE CONTRACTS AND THROUGH MENTORSHIP DISCOVERED IT WAS GOOD TO LONG A COOP BECAUSE THERE'S A QUALIFIED FIRM AND AWARDED A CONTRACT IN THE COOP AND ABLE TO SECURE A CONTRACT FOR 1.7Â MILLION FOR THE RENOVATION AT CEDAR VALLEY AND O'MALEY ATTENDED A MISSION AND APPROACHED SCOTT AND ASKED ABOUT WHAT OPPORTUNITIES THERE WERE AND HE DID PLANNING TO A COOP AND SO, SCOTT WAS ABLE TO HAVE HIM BID AND AWARDED TO NORTH LAKE RENOVATION FOR $50,000.

AND THIS IS WHAT MAKES IT EXCITING WORKING IN THIS AREA WHEN YOU CAN HELP SMALL COMPANIES BECAUSE I'M SURE THE IMPACT AFTER THESE AWARDS IS MUCH MORE THAN WE'RE SEEING AT PRESENT.

SO WHAT ARE THE NEXT STEPS? INCREASE THE SUPPLIER DIVERSITY TO INCLUDE ALL PURCHASE AREAS, TO EXPAND THE IMPACT OF THE SUPPLIER DIVERSITY PROGRAM IN THE COMMUNITY AND WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO THE TIMELINE WHICH WILL BE INCLUDED IN OUR NEXT BOARD AGENDA.

>> THESE WILL TAKE MORE THAN TWO EMPLOYEES.

>> YES.

DISPARITY STUDY THAT WE'RE IN THE PROCESS OF ACQUIRING.

IT EXISTS ANY DISPARITY AND WILL ANALYZE THE EFFECTS OF COMPANY SIDES AND EXPERIENCE IN SUCH DISPARITY IF ANY EXISTS AND DETERMINE IF DALLAS COLLEGE IS A PARTICIPANT IN DISCRIMINATION.

ALL IN ALL, WE OPEN THROUGH ALL EFFORTS, WE WILL ENSURE THAT DALLAS COUNTY IS VIBRANTS, AND VIABLE FOR GENERATIONS.

>> VERY GOOD, ANY QUESTIONS ON THIS PORTION? THANK YOU FOR YOUR LEADERSHIP AND CERTAINLY WELCOME AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO THE GREAT THING YOU'LL BE DOING.

WHEN WE FIRST CONCEIVED OF THIS ECONOMY FOR DALLAS COLLEGE, I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE REST OF MY COLLEGE, BUT IT'S BEYOND MY EXPECTATIONS.

AND I WILL HAVE THAT SUSTAINABILITY AS A PART OF THIS AND CERTAINLY, PROCUREMENT WAS ALWAYS THOUGHT TO BE THERE AND YOU ALL HAVE GONE ABOVE AND BEYOND AND LAYING A LOT OF FOUNDATIONAL WORK AND YOU CERTAINLY HAVE GOTTEN GOOD

[01:05:02]

INPUT AND I KNOW YOU WILL RESPOND TO THAT AND THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH.

[5.1. Committee Notes]

>> ANY QUESTIONS? IF NOT, THIS DEI COMMITTEEÂ DO WE WANT A QUICK BREAK OR MOVING INTO THE WORKFORCE?

>> WE'RE ADJOURNED FOR FIVE MINUTES AND THEN WE GO TO THE EDUCATION WORK FOR THREE.
