WE WILL BEGIN TODAY'S MEETING WITH A PRESENTATION BY DR. DANIELLE VALLE ON THE ACCREDITATION PROCESS.

>> HI THANK YOU I WILL JUST GIVE A COUPLE OF COMMENTS LEADING INTO DANIELLE'S PRESENTATION WE'RE REALLY QUITE EXCITED TO BE AT THIS POINT.

IT'S A HARD TO BELIEVE I WANT TO ADD TOO ALONG WITH AT THE VIRTUAL TABLE WITH A DR. DANIELLE WE WILL ALSO HAVE A DR. GREGORY MORRIS OR SENIOR VICE PROVOST FOR ACADEMIC SERVICES.

LIKE I WAS SAYING NORMALLY WHEN WE PRESENT YOU KNOW A ACCREDITATION UPDATE ITS NOT TYPICALLY VERY EXCITING I TRULY THINK THIS IS AN EXCITING PRESENTATION.

AND AN EXCITING TIMES.

BECAUSE IT'S HARD TO BELIEF THAT ONLY NINE MONTHS AGO WE WERE AWAITING OUR APPROVAL FROM ABOUT OUR ONE COLLEGE PROPOSAL.

AT THE SAME TIME WE WERE HIT WITH A GLOBAL PANDEMIC AND SO, AS A RESULT OF YOUR SUPPORT WE WERE IT I BELIEVE APPOINT AT THIS TIME INTERIM LEADERSHIP WITH OUR INTERIM PROVOST BRAD AND VICE CHANCELLOR SEA BROOKS.

WE HAVE BEEN STEADILY MAKING PROGRESS BUILDING UPON THE FOUNDATION THAT THEY ESTABLISHED FOR US REFINING OUR OPERATIONS AS IT RELATES TO ACADEMIC AFFAIRS STUDENT SUCCESS AND WORKFORCE.

SO THIS PRESENTATION IS EXCITING TO ME BECAUSE IT'S REALLY DEMONSTRATING THE WORK THAT WE'VE BEEN ENGAGED AND WILL CONTINUE TO BE ENGAGED IN AS DANIELLE AND GREG PRESENT WHAT WE HAVE DONE IN TERMS OF PLANNING THE PROCESSES WE HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING THROUGH AND THEN HOW WE'RE GOING TO BRIN WHICH WILL CAN IRRELEVANT IN FEBRUARY.

WE SUBMITTED OUR PROSPECTUS FOR CONSOLIDATION IN MID MARCH ALONG WITH THAT AT THE SAME TIME WE ALSO SUBMITTED FOR LEVEL CHANGE.

THAT LEVEL CHANGE APPLICATION WAS TO SEEK APPROVAL FROM THE LEVEL 1 INSTITUTION TO ASSOCIATE DEGREE AWARDING AUTHORITY TO MOVE TO LEVEL 2 INSTITUTION FOR OUR BACCALAUREATE AGREE AWARDING AUTHORITY.

BOTH OF THOSE PROPOSALS WERE APPROVED ON JUNE 12TH BY THE SACSCOC BOARD.

AND WE BECAME DALLAS COLLEGE FIRST DAY WAS JUST 3RD OF 2020.

AGAIN AS DR. FLOYD MENTIONED WE HAVE A VISITING TEAM COMING, WOULD HAVE COME PHYSICALLY BUT THEY ARE COMING VIRTUALLY IN MARCH IN FEBRUARY, FROM THE 8 TO THE TENTH.

WE WILL HOSTING THEM AND DISCUSSING WITH THEM THE DETAILS OF OUR CONSOLIDATION AND SHOWING THEM ALL OF THE WORK THAT WE'VE DONE TO BECOME DALLAS COLLEGE.

THEY WILL TAKE THEIR REPORT AND SUBMIT IT TO THE SACSCOC BOARD FOR A FINAL CHECK AND CLEAR ON TO OUR REAFFIRMATION AFTER THAT.

AND THAT START OF THE OFFICIAL START DATE OF DALLAS COLLEGE.

AND AT THE SCHOOLS, OUR NEW SCHOOLS OF MODEL WERE PLACED AND READY TO GO AS WELL A LEADERSHIP FOR WORKFORCE ADVANCEMENT AND STUDENT SERVICES READY TO GO ACTUALLY A COUPLE DAYS BEFORE OUR OFFICIAL START DAY OF DALLAS COLLEGE.

EQUALLY SO, FOR US IS CENTER EXCELLENCE AND TEACHING LEARNING WE WANT TO BE ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE HOW DALLAS COLLEGE IS A NEW ENTITY IS GLOBALLY ADDRESSING TEACHING EFFECTIVENESS AND THAT CAN RANGE FROM ANYTHING FROM HOW WE'RE NAVIGATING TO AT COVID RESPONSE AND WAYS IN WHICH WE'RE ENHANCING ONLINE LEARNING.

AND THEN, SEVERAL OTHERS THAT I MENTIONED ON HERE T PARTICULARLY AROUND CURRICULUM ASSESSMENT AND PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT.

AGAIN WE'RE ANXIOUS TO BE ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE THROUGH THIS NARRATIVE BUT ALSO IN THE FEBRUARY VISIT THE IMPORTANCE OF HOW WE'RE MOVING TOGETHER AS ONE COLLEGE UNTIL DEVELOPING CURRICULUM REVIEWING THAT CURRICULUM AND REALLY TAKING A BROAD PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT PERSPECTIVE FOR OUR PROGRAMS. AND SOME OF THE THINGS THAT CERTAINLY ARE IMPORTANT FROM DAY-TO-DAY OPERATIONS BUT NOT HAVING NECESSARILY BEING HANDLED BY FEBRUARY, WE, WE NOT TAPPED ON THE BRAKES BUT WE CERTAINLY HELD BACK

WITH THE INTENDED PURPOSE OF BRINGING THAT ENTIRELY TOGETHER AND ALSO, HELPING US DALLAS COLLEGE TO A LEVERAGE THE BROAD SPECTRUM OF OUR FACULTY TALENT REGARDLESS OF CAMPUS LOCATION.

AND THEN, AS WELL WITH THE TEXAS HIGHER EDUCATION COORDINATING BOARD WE'VE GONE THROUGH WORKING CLOSELY WITH THEM TO ENSURE THAT WE HAVE AGAIN THAT RECONCILIATION OF OUR RECORDS OF LIST OF PROGRAMS AND OUR ZIP CODES TO SYNCH UP AND ENSURE WE HAVE CONSISTENCY AND ALIGNMENT WITH WHAT THEY HAVE AS DALLAS COLLEGE'S PROGRAMS AND WHAT WE HAVE AS OUR PORTFOLIO.

SO WE WERE SHARING SOME OF THOSE BROAD FRAMEWORKS BUT REALLY ALSO ASKING FOR THEM TO ENGAGE AND GIVING US THEIR FEEDBACK AND THEIR RECOMMENDATIONS FOR HOW WE FLESH OUT THOSE PROCESSES FOR DALLAS COLLEGE MOVING FORWARD.

SO OUR NEXT STEPS FOR OUR CONSOLIDATION ARE THE PREPARATION OF THE REPORT THAT GOES TO THE VISITING COMMITTEE.

THEY ARE BASICALLY HEAR TO CONFIRM THAT WE HAVE MOVED TO A SINGLE OPERATING THINK EL INSTITUTION AND THAT WE HAVE NOT STAYED STUCK IN OLD SYSTEMS RETAIN 7 SEPARATE INSTITUTIONS OTHER THING THEY ARE HERE TO ASSESS DURING THIS PERIOD OF TRANSITION DALLAS COLLEGE MAINTAINED COMPLIANCE WITH CORE REQUIREMENTS OF THEIR SACSCOC ACCREDITATION STANDARDS.

THE OUTCOMES OF THAT VISIT REALLY TWO POSSIBLE OUTCOMES.

ONE OUTCOME IS THAT THEY HAVE NO RECOMMENDATIONS AND THEY SEND THEIR REPORT TO THE SACSCOC BOARD IN JUNE OF 2021.

AND THAT KIND OF WRAPS IT UP THERE.

I WOULD SAY THAT'S UNLIKELY UNCOMMON OUTCOME.

THE MORE COMMON OUTCOME IS THAT THEY HAVE SOME AREA THAT THEY WOULD LIKE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

THEY WOULD LIKE TO SEE MORE EVIDENCE OF OUR PROGRESS AND WOULD LIKE US TO SUBMIT AN ADDITIONAL REPORT THAT SPECIFIC TO A PARTICULAR STANDARD.

AND SO I THINK FROM DAY 1, THEY'VE, THEY'VE BEEN HELPFUL AND NOT, NOT FROM MY OBSERVATION NOT FELT THE NEED TO CONSTANTLY BE LOOKING AND CHECKING AND MAKE SURE THAT WE WERE DOING WHAT WE SAID WE WERE DOING.

I THINK, THAT JUST REALLY SPEAKS TO THE HISTORY OF OUR 7 COLLEGES HOW WELL THEY WORK IN THE PAST WHICH I THINK HONESTLY HAS RESULTED IN AN EXPEDITED PROCESS.

WITH THAT TRUST AND COMES AT ALTHOUGH OF RESPONSIBILITY TO LIVE UP TO THAT

EVEN THOUGH OUR TUITION IS ONLY ROUGHLY $2,370 A YEAR FOR TUITION.

WE'VE GIVEN STUDENTS $5,000 TO TAKE CARE OF RENT, TRANSPORTATION, FOOD, AND OTHER RESOURCES THAT THEY HAVE AVAILABLE BECAUSE THEY COMPLETED THE FAFSA AND TAFSA.

WE CAN'T USE RESOURCES FRANK COMPARING PENCE TO DOLLARS WHAT WE HAVE RESOURCES TO HELP STUDENTS WHEN WE COMPARE THE NEED.

SO NOT THAT WE DON'T.

BUT UNFORTUNATELY, SOMETIMES IT ENDS UP BEING MORE HAND HOLDING AND ENCOURAGEMENT AND LESS CHECK WRITING IF THEY DON'T TAKE THOSE STEPS.

SO WE PROBABLY WON'T SEE SOME OF THAT EASING UP IN THE SHORT RUN.

BUT MORE MONEY DOES HELP MORE STUDENTS.

AND WE DON'T KNOW -- LAST TIME OUT 20 MILLION WE RECEIVED FULLY HALF OF IT WAS SPECIFICALLY FOR EMERGENCY AID TO STUDENTS.

SO WE GOT $0 TO SUPPORT THOSE NEEDS.

EVEN THOUGH WE WENT 100 PERCENT ONLINE.
